Peaky Blinders has become a worldwide phenomenon, partially due to Cillian Murphy's incredible performance as the iconic Tommy Shelby in 1920s post WWI-Birmingham.

We don't doubt that you've spotted some lads sporting the exact same haircut as the Shelby boys, as well as wearing the flat cap and three-piece suits.

The period cut has led to a style revolution among fans of the show, with barbers constantly being asked for the 'Peaky cut' from men (and some women) of all ages.

But despite the style’s popularity, Cillian Murphy has zero time for it;

"People ask for a Peaky cut. It’s crazy that people like it – it hasn’t grown on me," he told Woman and Home. The 43-year-old pointed out how easily spotted he is with the shaved sides and long top.

"It’s when you get the haircut that people start shouting at you," he said. "When I don’t have the haircut I can get the bus quite unmolested." He normally wears a far longer haircut, and is left alone.

The Dunkirk actor recently admitted that his wife gets annoyed by his dedication to the BBC One show, which has just returned for its fifth series.

Cillian has to "cancel reality for a little while" while he's on set and candidly admitted that he can find the role "exhausting";

"Part of acting in film and television is that you have to go from sitting around in a trailer twiddling your thumbs, doing the crossword or whatever, to bang! Being in it. So if you're coming from a standstill, it doesn't work."

He also divulged that his spouse Yvonne McGuinness and sons, 13-year-old Malachy and 12-year-old Aran, feel that he's in another world when the series is filming.

"I'm not walking around talking like Tommy all the time, but you have to be there or thereabouts.

"So she's right, I'm not all there when I'm filming. And in terms of life when we're filming: I don't socialise, I just go home, learn the lines, go to bed."

The hugely anticipated fifth season of Peaky Blinders kicked off on BBC One on Sunday night, stay tuned for the next five episodes.

The caption reads; "Six months ago this girl was someone I just wanted to forget. I wanted to erase her from my mind and everyone else’s memory. I didn’t see her as Jesy I saw her as “the fat one from Little Mix”.

"Up until now I hated her not because she’d ever done anything bad but because I was made to hate her by endless amounts of trolling. Since filming my documentary for @bbcone and @bbcthree I’ve learned so much more than I ever expected to," the singer continued.

"Thanks to all the inspirational people I’ve met on this emotional journey, I now love the girl in this photo. I’ve made this documentary for 2011 Jesy and for anyone who might be feeling like she did. I refused to speak about how I was feeling for so long."

The Little Mix star, who is loved up with her reality tv star boyfriend Chris Hughes, encouraged her followers to open up about their body image struggles and get mental health assistance if needed;

"I was embarrassed and scared to. But I was so wrong to feel that way. Please if you are feeling how I did, SPEAK ABOUT IT. Talk to your family, speak to your friends, there’s always help out there," she added.

"If you’d have told that girl one day you won’t feel sad anymore, I’d never have believed you….and here I am. Now when I look in the mirror, I don’t see Jesy the fat one, I see Jesy the happy one."

Two rising star actors have now been cast as the leads, and production on the project has begun in Ireland, which s being directed by the great Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie McDonald.

Daisy Edgar-Jones will star as Marianne, and Paul Mescal will portray Connell in his first television role. We've previously seen Edgar-Jones in War Of The Worlds, so this part is a definite change for her.

Normal People tells the tale of how profoundly two people can impact each others' lives, and is a definite tearjerker. It's set to be a heart-wrenching watch, considering how thought-provoking the novel is.

The book is astonishing in its use of dialogue to emote the mind-set of both characters as their lives gradually intertwine and grow apart, before being pulled back together again.

Filming will take place in Italy, Dublin and Sligo. Rooney spoke about the television series, saying how privileged she feels to be working alongside a director as prolific as Lenny Abrahamson.

"I couldn’t be happier with the cast and team we’ve put together, and I’m very excited to watch them bringing new life to the story on screen," she said.

Normal People is set in Dublin, and tracks the tender but complex relationship between the two characters from each of their viewpoints.

Summer is just over and the autumn is calling our names.

That means shorter days, darker evenings, unshaven legs and it being acceptable to have a Baileys hot chocolate four nights a week.

Just me? Oh, well, you're all missing out.

So what's the perfect autumn cosy-couch-viewing? Sally Rooney, author of the fantastic Conversations with Friends, is coming to our rescue on that front.

According to Stylist, Sally’s upcoming book, Normal People, is set to be adapted for TV by BBC Three.

It's based around the book, which follows the lives of Marianne and Connell, who both hail from a small town in the west of Ireland and end up as students in Dublin's Trinity College.

It explores how people grow and change as they navigate their way through young adulthood and the interesting people that they meet along the way.

“I feel very privileged to be working with such an extraordinary team on the adaptation of Normal People. I’m looking forward to the challenge of working in a new form, and of thinking about these characters and their lives in new ways,” Sally said.

The cherry on the cake?

It will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson, who's work includes RoomThe Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Lobster.

Lenny said that, “Sally is a writer of the highest calibre and in Normal People she captures the ebb and flow of intimacy and desire with extraordinary skill.''

“I’m proud to be part of bringing her work to the screen audience it deserves.”

So, if awkwardness, humour and romance are up your street, then look no further.

Normal People is due to hit our screens in January and we assure you, you will not want to miss it.
