While we love a classic smoky eye, sometimes a deep black or charcoal grey is just too much for a casual event.

That's why we're dying to try out this toned-down festive look from the crew at AYU MakeUp that's perfect for day or night. Using a mix of creamy highlighter and neutral browns, this festive tutorial is oh-so simple to do at home.

Check out the video below to find out how to get started – and what you'll need.

We have been sharing a multitude of festive beauty trends that seems to be taking social media by storm and they all involve glitter.

Glitter literally EVERYWHERE.

First, we brought you the super cute glitter root before yesterday bringing you news of the majestic glitter beard.

Well, we are adding to our extensive coverage of people glitter-fying their body hair by reporting to you, the glitter armpit.

Yes, the glitter pit comes to you courtesy of a feminist standoff and we day GO GIRLS.

#glitterpits is giving us something to think about as feminists around the world take a stand against society's shaming of their natural body hair.

We say YAS to these girls not only flaunting their natural body hair, but for also having the balls to make it look pretty.

Earlier this year, the #freeyourpits campaign saw women defiantly grow out their underarm hair and display it proudly on social media. So it is only right that the trend had a little festive update.

Now if anyone ever tells you to shave your body hair, you can simply stick a sparkly pit in their face. Sorted.

Now that we've gotten over the Balmain x H&M campaign that seemed to completely take over the highstreet, H&M have moved on to their festive season… and we're so happy.

Katy Perry has teamed up with the retail giant for their 2015 Christmas ad, and in it she is dressed as the most adorable fairy (with awesome hair).

She also debuted her new song, Everyday is a Holiday, which is played in the background throughout the entire ad. Enjoy!

OK, so we're not entirely sure how we feel about it being quite so Christmasy quite so early.

November 6; we're only just over the excitement of Halloween when suddenly bags of yuletide delights and oodles of festive cheer has flooded shops, streets and homes.

Ho, ho, ho – or bah humbug?

Well, while another six weeks of glittery goodness and mulled wine-infused air might prove taxing, we're today feeling sufficiently good-humoured to embrace the spirit of the season.

And certainly, we couldn't help but get oh-so unreasonably giddy at the sight of the Brown Thomas Christmas window on Grafton Street.

Unveiled last night, this year the theme is Store Of Wonders. As BTs explains: "We have gone back to the simple pleasure of a great story well told and have decided to celebrate the art of storytelling.

"We are doing fairytales and enchanted stories with a Brown Thomas twist."

Below, we bring you the gorgeous windows – which, it has to be said, are particularly stunning for 2015. In the meantime… 'jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…'

If there was any lingering doubt (and there probably wasn't) that summer is well and truly over – today proves once and for all that winter is definitely en route.

And while darker, colder evenings are a bit of a downer, the prospect of roaring fires, Halloween delights and festive fun is admittedly rather tempting.

Is too early to be thinking of that most essential of Yuletide wardrobe stables – the Christmas jumper?

Here at SHEmazing! we definitely don't think so… which is why we were oh-so excited to discover while wandering around Dundrum Town Centre this weekend that stock has now LANDED in Penneys.

With prices from just €12 (hurrah!) if you spot an item you really like, snap it up QUICK because they're likely to prove extremely popular.

Reindeer burgundy jumper, €18;
Ivory penguin jumper, €18

Express yourelf pup sweatshirt, €13;
Blue Advent calendar jumper, €18;
Grey Rudolf jumper, €12

Elf knitted dress, €20;
Santa knitted dress, €20

PS: It's not quite a Christmas jumper but we still LOVE it…

Longline brown faux fur coat, €45

Is it just us, or is Christmas actually getting earlier every year? Well, if Brown Thomas in Dublin, Cork and Limerick is anything to go by… the festive season is already here.

Yes, a full four months before the man with the bag arrives in Ireland, the famed department store has kicked off a spot of Yuletide joy.

For 2015 the Christmas Market is, according to Brown Thomas, "filled with Christmas trees and trim, seasonal decorations and festive food".

"We’ve actually been working on this year's Christmas Market since Christmas last year," BTs also said in a statement today.

And they reckon that they need to launch the market at this time of year to satisfy "customer demand".

"Plenty of shoppers are keen to get organised early," it maintains. "Generally we find that there’s a great response from customers to opening in August especially tourists who are eager to buy pieces they can’t get at home."

The themes for this year’s Christmas Market at Brown Thomas include Ice Palace, Venetian Winter, I Love Candy, and Santa’s Journey.

Ho, ho, ho? Or just bah, humbug?

We're four months away still – a full four months and a bit in fact (we just counted).

But that hasn't stopped one department store from getting into the spirit of things.

In fact, Brown Thomas in Dublin, Cork and Limerick are all unveiling their Christmas markets on Thursday – yes, that's August 20.

Each store apparently has a "dedicated space," which has now been transformed into "a festive Christmas market – filled with Christmas trees and trim, beautiful decorations, crackers and festive food".

And the themes for this year’s BT markets (just so you're in the know) include Ice Palace; Venetian Winter; I Love Candy and Santa’s Journey.

Hmmm, we reckon we'll still probably end up doing most of our shopping at the last minute (circa December 23).

Ho, ho, ho!

Remember how far away Christmas seemed in November? How we laughed at those smug and organised people who did their shopping ahead of time. But with just days left to go the reality has suddenly hit. It's nearly Christmas Eve and you haven't bought so much as a pair of socks.

Here are the stages your poor frazzled self will no doubt experience over the coming days. Stay strong. It's all be over soon!

1. The fear of making The List
WHY did your Mam and Dad decide to have so many kids? This is cruelty.

2. The panic on the bus to town as you realise you've forgotten a load of people
Ah Christ, the 17 cousins.

3. The rabbit-in-the-headlights feeling as you crush your way into the first shop
So. Many. People.

4. Settling for any old present even though you KNOW you could do better
But Nana would love this teatowel, she's all about the washing and drying. Isn't she?

5. That weird feeling of calm as you start to enjoy spending money on random frivolous gifts
I should take this up as a hobby!

6. … Until you remember to check your bank balance
Quick, return the €25 ceramic trinket bowl. QUICK.

7. Giving up after 2 hours for a "well-earned" break
I'm having mulled wine and there's nothing you can do to stop me.

8. Finally buying that last present…
And remembering you still have to buy wrapping paper, cards and gift tags. This torture never ends.

We'd never say no to a cosy Christmas sweater, but it is possible to take things too far.

Fairy lights? Yes. Giant 3D Ruploph head protruding from the front of the jumper? Eh… no.

Here are a few of the worse ones we've come across this year…

1. This jumper that was clearly not meant for a grown man
Nice treasure trail!

2. This "sweater-dress"
That's a lot of green felt…

3. This bath mat/festive tunic
There's something about wearing towelling in public that just screams "disaster".

4. These highly impractical candy canes
Imagine the five of them trying to fit in the car together…

5. This springy contraption
Bouncing Santa boobs? Oh, lovely.

6. This unfortunate sweater vest
Why, oh why the polo neck insert?

7. This rude slogan
I don't like your attitude, young lady.

8. This strip club wonderland jumper
Santa loves the ladies.

9. This festive cape
Nothing says "Christmas" like a poncho, amirite?
