Gavin James is known for his love of Whelan's, his stunning voice which produces banger after banger, and his ability to make friends with pretty much anyone.

The singer-songwriter, who has achieved massive chart success at home and abroad with tunes such as Always, Glow and Nervous, from his breakthrough album Bitter Pill back in 2015.

We sat down for a chat with the man himself, who is the new ambassador for the Cadbury Secret Santa campaign, to chat to him about his "f*cking hilarious" father, his home away from home and his favourite celebrities, among other (random) things.

James has been known for his love and support for charities, especially Down's Syndrome Ireland, so it's not surprising that he's choosing a generous movement like Cadbury Secret Santa to represent this Christmas.

A Dairy Milk gift can be sent anywhere in Ireland for free, either anonymously or personalised, to someone you love. Frankly, that's adorable. After posting the very first Secret Santa gift of the campaign, Gavin speaks about what drew him to Cadbury.

"I have always loved the Secret Santa ritual; the excitement of sending a gift in secret and the anticipation of receiving a gift anonymously – it’s so much fun! My dad is also essentially Santa." After pointing his dad out to me, I had to agree. He was merry with a white beard.

The artist brings his family and friends with him to gigs any chance he gets: “Its good to be able to bring them away with me. Every time I have a gig in Ireland my entire family goes, I brought my dad to a photoshoot today, which is f*cking hilarious.”

Asking him about his early days of gigging in tiny pubs, and dedicated to his then-rock band, he describes why he transitioned into acoustic songwriting, despite still having an intense love for his electric guitar.

"I started off with my mates in Temple Bar, my hair was huge. I was also trying to sing high but I couldn’t sing falsetto when I was younger, I had a raspy voice back then and couldn’t pronounce the letter 's'.I never try to transition, genres just kind of come on their own, I think."

We're glad he found his niche, his musical talent started for him at a very young age, surrounded by musical talent within his own family. His latest album, Only Ticket Home, hit number one in Ireland and has already surpassed a million streams.

He describes his latest offering as a dedication to the art of "simplicity", with most of the songs only having four chords.

"They're not trying to be smart. There was one song that didn’t make the album because I tried to record it and it just didn’t turn out right. It was the best song I’ve written in a long time, but it sounded too far away from the right sound of the album. I have it in my back pocket for next year though. I found loads of songs in the cloud, I was chuffed."

"There was like 40 but 33 of them were shit. I usually have 100 ideas but one works. The first idea is always the best song. It’s like a buffet, the first thing you look at is always what you want.”

James has toured with some absolutely huge names in music, among them are Ed Sheeran, Niall Horan, Sam Smith and Kodaline, to name a few. With all this talent around him, we have to ask which artists have impressed him the most.

"Bands like Vulfpeck are absolutely insane, they’re so good at playing stuff that I absolutely cannot understand. It’s insane, like Stevie Wonder-esque.”

“Foy Vance sang songs next to me, and his voice starts low and aggressively builds up and I don’t even know how he exists. He’s insane.”“When it comes to Secret Santa gifts, Gavin's already done his bit for fellow musicians… and their skin, apparently. "Sam Smith. I gave him aloe vera before, he loved that. He’s a really nice guy.”

We're sure Sam would say the same about Gavin, but is there anyone in the industry who he has been disillusioned by, who maybe brushed him off? It's a notoriously tough industry, which requires a thick skin for survival. IT seems James has a level-headed approach to the whole 'fame' thing.

"There are people I don’t want to meet purely because it would ruin how I feel about them, people I totally idolise, sometimes they’re just not in the mood and you don't want to annoy them. Everybody I’ve ever met has been really friendly to me though, but if someone isn’t being nice to me, I’ll tell them. I don’t mind saying that to people. It’s easier to be nice."

"I couldn't meet Ryan Adams because I love him so much, and Bruce Springsteen. He’s meant to be the nicest man in the world. I’d love to meet him but I’d be bricking it. I’d probably just say “thank you, Bruce, for all of these songs.”

"When it comes to growing Irish talent, I love David Keenan. He’s class. His lyrics are amazing. He has a song called Laurence of Arcadia with lyrics like;

“You're looking at the last know bar stool prophet to retire early from the trade, I'm going fishing for pearls of wisdom. I'll be dancing through the pissing rain. You're welcome to join me you annoyance, for I find you quite amusing all the same." It's amazing."

Irish artists have repeatedly found success abroad, yet the UK and US markets are infamously hard to break into. Why have some Irish artists such as U2, The Script, Hozier and now Dermot Kennedy made it big over there, and some slip through the cracks?

“The UK is a tough market. It’s a weird one, like the Netherlands kicked off for me because they love a sad song, and I'm good at those. I brought out a Live at Whelans track, and was told it would reach top of the Dutch charts by Christmas. I didn't believe it, because it was a live recording. Then it went number one in the Netherlands, but no one would think of a live recording doing that.”

His second album, Only Ticket Home, is still distinctly within the style of his debut, and James makes sure that his roots can come across in his lyrics. When he's in Dublin, he loves chilling with his friends in the pub, living out a normal life despite his new-found fame.

Where are his favourite parts of Dublin, and if he had to move, where would he find himself?

“Whelan’s, but I spend most of my time in Temple Bar, even though it’s seven euros a pint.” *shivers*

"Where Doran’s used to be, my mate Robbie owns a little snug next to it, an Irish pub. I always go there because it seems like a little secret spot where I’d just have a pint with my mates.”

“I’ve never been to Coppers. I tried to get in years ago, I think they were closing up. They must have a quota of guys named Gavin or gingers, so I couldn’t get in.” (Can you BELIEVE this Dubliner hasn't stepped foot in the notorious nightclub? We are shook)

“I went on one night out to Nashville to see Ron Pope, and ended up staying there a week.”

“I’d definitely move to Nashville. Very random, it’s musical but it reminds me of Dublin in a lot of ways. I have a lot of friends there, I made a lot of friends there very quickly. It’s cheap too, it’s not f*cking mad, it’s not like Los Angeles. I’m not into L.A. How the hell do people get around there?”

Sounds like this lad has his head screwed on right, that's for sure.

We got two hugs out of him and a Cadbury Secret Santa letter, so we are officially his number one fans.

Only Ticket Home is out now, grab your tickets to see him live in 2019 here.

British singer Rita Ora has landed herself in a sticky situation after being accused of lip-syncing during her performance at Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

John Legend has also been dragged into the controversy as viewers send in hundreds of complaints regarding the televised event.

Organisers apologised to the audience of millions, citing "technical difficulties" as the reason for the out of sync vocals, which we have to admit are pretty damn cringeworthy:

Ora was singing Let You Love Me when the technical errors occurred, and was hit with a flurry of critique after viewers proclaimed the whole musical event as a falsity.

Macy's released a statement saying:

"Several recording artists experienced technical difficulties that negatively impacted their performance. We apologise and want fans to know these issues were out of the artist’s control."

Watching Ora try and salvage the song on top of a bizarre float is arguably as tough to watch as Cheryl's now-infamous X-Factor performance.

Ora replied to the statement on Twitter, thanking the company for it's candour:

Diana Ross and John Legend also performed, but Ora has faced the brunt of the criticism from the audience.

The "first LGBTQ kiss" in the history of the event also took place during a performance of The Prom.

We feel for Rita, I mean having a blunder during the world's largest parade can't have been easy.

At least her sophomore album Phoenix is on track to hit the UK number 1 slot already, after only being released yesterday.

We think she'll be grand…

Rap R&B sensation the Weeknd is apparently being sued for trademark infringement over his alter ego 'Starboy' by a comic book writer who claims to have created the character back in 2014.

TMZ and The Blast are reporting that writer Eymun Talasazan came up with the concept for a series of comic books focusing on superhero rap and R&B artists, and that he was in touch with representatives of the Weeknd regarding a possible collaboration.

This alleged collaboration never actually took place, after nothing came of the 2017 talks, but the Starboy character was then used for the Weeknd's infamous album last year.

The singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has yet to comment on the issue.

The Marvel graphic novel The Weeknd Presents: Starboy is "near identical" to Eymun Talasazan's idea which he supposedly pitched to the Weeknd's representatives, according to reports.

Talasazan claims to have been creating a whole world surrounding the Starboy comic persona in 2015, dedicated to R&B superheroes.

TMZ recently wrote that Daft Punk and the Weeknd have already faced a €5 million lawsuit over reports of plagiarism on the track 'Starboy' by a songwriter named Yasminah.

She claims her song 'Hooyo', released back in 2009, shares some of the same elements as Daft Punk's offering.

It seems the song, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, is causing plenty of scandal as well as success.

28-year-old Tesfaye, who is currently dating supermodel Bella Hadid, has just moved in with his Victoria's Secret sweetheart.

What do you think, is Starboy an original the Weeknd character? The drama continues…

Hold up…Hozier is back in the game?!

After four long years of waiting, the musical god has finally released new music, and it is AMAZING!

The new EP, titled Nina Cried Power was released last night after much awaited anticipation, and it was definitely worth the wait.

The new album has four songs total: Nina Cried Power, NFWB (Nothing Fucks With My Baby), Moment’s Silence (Common Tongue), and Shrike.

The Wicklow native has continued to embody the classic Irish theme of dark and tainted love. His haunting voice beautifully slips above the songs’ catchy beats, pulling us back in once again with his new music.

Nina Cried Power features American gospel legend Mavis Staples (Oh Happy Day singer), adding a soulful twist on Hozier’s original sound.

NFWB, on the other hand, sounds like something off the Vampire Diaries' soundtrack as torment and darkness ooze from an obsessive partner.

If you’re desperate for a more upbeat tune, Moment’s Silence has a beat you can’t help tapping your foot to. The guitar twang and rhythmic clapping will have you bobbing your head along for the whole song.

Things slow down as Shrike takes us on a journey about hipster lovers. If you need a good cry, this song is the perfect fix, full of lost hope and missed opportunity. This song is classic Hozier.

Lucky fans get to see Andrew Hozier Byrne rehearse his new album in The Academy tonight for his final Dublin performance, and we’ll be hoping that the passionate singer will bless us with a few new hits.

But for those of us mere mortals, who could not get tickets before the charity concert sold-out, thank god we have Spotify.

So, check out his new EP today. You won’t be disappointed.

Taylor Swift has never been one to shy away from the limelight.

Her career and personal life have dominated celebrity news columns ever since her 2008 album Fearless propelled her to international fame.

However the star has been keeping a mysteriously low profile lately, which has led to speculation about her future plans.

Well, according to ET, Taylor has been busy working away on her upcoming album.

A source told the entertainment site that the Blank Space singer has been spending a lot of time in Nashville, Tennessee, trying to figure out what direction her new music should go in.

In the past, Taylor has had massive success with both pop and country records.

The source also suggested that Taylor’s new album may drop by the end of the year!

Fans of the songstress have been reacting to the news on Twitter.

Ed Sheeran has famously returned from his year long musical and social media sabbatical.

The internet went into over drive when, exactly one year after leaving the public eye, Ed's social media accounts all re-activated, sharing snaps of blue boxes.

The singer songwriter has since revealed a new album, dropped two songs from said album, both of which have gone to number one on the charts, and sold out a world tour. Not too shabby at all Ed.

The singer revealed exactly why he submerged himself from musical and social media attention.

"I just felt like everything I did, I got a very lukewarm reaction by the end of it," he said in an interview with The Project.

"I was like here’s a new song. And people were like, 'ah, great'," he said sarcastically.

"But you disappear for a year and then people are kind of hungry for it again."

"But I’m sure I’ll get to the end of this campaign and people will be like 'yeah, cool,'" he said , making a shooing gesture.

Ah Ed, we're never sick of you here in Ireland.

Maybe come live here, or at least add another few Irish dates to your tour? Please?

After a year filled with boyfriend drama and squad goals, Taylor Swift got a little nostalgic on Instagram last night as she reminisced on a decade of music.

Taking to the site to celebrate her first album’s tenth anniversary, the Bad Blood singer shared a sweet picture of her teenage self playing a guitar while dressed in the uber noughties combo of a Pink hoody and three-quarter length jeans.

In the caption, the 26-year-old star acknowledged how her life has changed since the photo was taken, and thanked her fans for the part they played in that transition.

She wrote: “10 years ago today, my first album came out.  I couldn’t be more grateful today, thinking back on how much fun we’ve had and how you’ve encouraged me to change and grow.”

“It’s been such an adventure, guys.  Thank you for all of it.”

Beyoncé and Solange Knowles have become the first sisters in the world to both have number one albums.

The famous duo broke a new world record this week when Solange’s latest album, A Seat at the Table, took the Billboard Top 200 chart’s top spot.

After selling 72,000 copies in the first week, the work quickly became Bey’s little sister’s first No.1 album and in doing so allowed the Knowles’ to join Michael and Janet Jackson and Master P and Silkk The Shocker as the only siblings in the world to get their albums to the top of the charts.

Last week Queen B took to Instagram to congratulate 30-year-old Solange on the release of her new music.

The 35-year-old Texan wrote: “Congrats to my sister on creating this beautiful work of art.  I could not be more proud of you.”

Six of Beyoncé’s albums have already achieved chart-topping success.

Kanye West and Drake are probably two of the biggest names in music at the moment, and now it seems they're joining forces.

In an interview with Vogue which was released yesterday, Kanye opened up about collaborating with the Hotline Bling artist.

"We're just working on music… working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio.

"We're working on an album, so there's some exciting things coming up soon," he said.

Not just one song… an entire album!

Mr West kept his lips sealed regarding the release date, but hopefully it'll be soon.

While her former fiance Zayn Malik has been pretty happy to refer to their one-time union, Perrie Edwards has remained rather more tight-lipped.

In fact, since they split more than a year ago, the 23-year-old Little Mix beauty has barely referred to the man she once planned to marry.

However, now in a telling interview, Ms Edwards has hinted at the trauma she has endured in recent times.

Referring to Little Mix's forthcoming, still-unnamed album, she told Sugarscape: "It's very – and I know we probably said this about the last album – honest. It's very what's been happening in the past few months or the past year.

"We've been through a lot personally, emotionally and career-wise. Every aspect, we've wanted to just get off our chest and the best way to do it is with this album.

"That's why we're loving it so much. It's like therapy."

The album will be the band's fourth and although it hasn't yet been given a release-date, it will be out before the end of 2016.

Meanwhile, Zayn Malik's relationship with 21-year-old Gigi Hadid continues to flourish: the duo recently moved in together in LA.

The lads celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2011 with an international tour called BZ20 which played in some major cities around the world.

However, they want to do it all over again for the band's 25th anniversary.

"Next year will be the 25th anniversary of Boyzone and we are looking at celebrating that somehow, whether it will be a tour or a new album," Ronan Keating told the Nottingham Post.

"We are not sure just yet but we will definitely be doing something," he added.

Sounds good lads, we can't wait!
