Repealing the Eight Amendment may not be enough to guarantee abortion without restriction, the government has heard.

Leo Varadkar has said the government is considering adding another line into the Constitution after the Attorney-General Seamus Wolfe warned that it may contain other articles that protect the lif of the unborn.

The Taoiseach has revealed they are awaiting advice before moving forward on the issue.

“That's something we're awaiting advice from the Attorney-General about,” he explained.

“Because we would find ourselves in a very strange situation if we repeal the 8th amendment only to find out there are other rights to life that exist in other parts of the Constitution – that might then make any legislation we pass unconstitutional.”

The Dáil is due to hear statements from TDs on Wednesday and Thursday in relation to the recommendations put forward in the Oireachtas Committee report.

The Taoiseach is said to be awaiting the final wording of the bill before revealing his stance in the issue.

If you've ever been part of a WhatsApp group chat, you'll know what a roller-coaster of emotions they can be.

From inside jokes to endless bickering, they're nothing if not dramatic. But hey, we wouldn't have it any other way.

There are certain perks that come along with being a group chat administrator – namely the capability to add and dismiss other members as you please – but as always, with great power comes great responsibility.

We all know one admin that takes their role a little too seriously, though unfortunately there's nothing us mere second-grade members can do about it – until now.

The messaging app has announced it is testing a new feature that allows user to overthrow their group chat leader should their regime become too much to handle.

According to WABetaInfo, at the moment, "WhatsApp is developing this feature for iOS and it will be available soon for all users.

"It is already enabled by default in the newest WhatsApp Google Play beta for Android 2.18.12."

So, soon you'll be able to claim all the glory for yourself!

The actress/singer is set to star in the director's upcoming film, A Rainy Day in New York – a project which has been surrounded in controversy over Allen's reputation of alleged child sexual abuse.

After failing to get through to the Disney star, some fans approached her mother, Mandy Teefey, on Instagram in the hopes that she would be able to get through to her daughter.

“Make Selena write an apology about the Woody Allen film,” wrote one user.

To which Mandy replied, via production company's account: “Sorry, no one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click.”

“Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here,” she added.

“No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.”

The comments come just two months after the 25-year-old told Billboard that she wasn't sure how to respond to the criticism.

“To be honest, I'm not sure how to answer — not because I'm trying to back away from it,” she said at the time.

“[The Harvey Weinstein allegations] actually happened right after I had started [on the movie]. They popped up in the midst of it. And that's something, yes, I had to face and discuss. I stepped back and thought, 'Wow, the universe works in interesting ways'.”

Irish holidays makers will be able to ditch the airports and set sail to Spain this summer thanks to a new route launched by Brittany Ferries.

The brand new ferry crossing will be the first to link Ireland with the popular holiday destination, and could potentially provide a tourism boost for both countries.

Passengers will sail from Cork to Santander in northern Spain, with a new ship being chartered to serve the route, as well as n additional weekly return-sailing from Cork to Roscoff, France.

According to The Irish Mirror, the ship, which will carry approximately 500 passengers as well as 195 cars, is said to offer a comfortable, no-frills service with a distinctly Spanish theme.

On board, passengers can expect to find a small shop, a café-bar and lounge areas as well as dining options that reflect the serviced regions.

The spacious cabins provide beds for up to four people, with a small number of per-friendly rooms also available.

The service is set to launch at the end of April, with two return sailings scheduled per week.

Brittany Ferries spokesman Hugh Bruton said: "This is a significant move for Brittany Ferries, offering haulage companies a direct route to Spain and passengers a far greater range of holiday options from Cork.

"As a destination so-called green Spain promises visitors a wealth of opportunities. It hosts sweeping sandy beaches, snow covered mountains just an hour from the port, fabulous food and offers visitors a welcome as warm as the Spanish will receive when they join us in Ireland.”

That's out summer holidays sorted anyway!

A Dublin hotel manager has taken to social media to vent his frustration after he was contacted by a 'social media influencer' looking for a free place to stay.

Staff at the Charleville Lodge Hotel received an email from an unnamed person offering to mention the establishment on YouTube and Instagram in exchange for free accommodation this Valentine's Day.

The writer of the email, who told the hotel they worked as a “lifestyle, beauty and travel based” influencer, claimed to have "over 87,000 YouTube subscribers as well as 76,000 Instagram followers."

“My partner and I are planning to come to Dublin for an early Valentines Day weekend from Feb 8th – 12th to explore the area,” the email read.

“As I was searching for places to stay, I came across your stunning hotel and would love to feature you in my YouTube videos/dedicated Instagram stories/posts to bring traffic to your hotel and recommend others to book up in return for free accommodation.”

“Last year I worked with Universal Orlando in Florida and it’s been amazing for them!”

The absolute cheek!

Needless to say, hotel manager Paul Stenson was less than impressed with the proposal.

Posting his response to Facebook, the manager pondered how he could pay his staff with said 'exposure'.

"If I let you stay here in return for a feature in your video, who is going to pay the staff who look after you," he wrote.

He then went on to say that although the hotel also has a significant social media following, they would never feel entitled to something that others are expected to pay for.

“Lucky for us, we too have a significant social media following. We have 186k followers on our two Facebook pages, an estimated 80k on our Snapchat, 32k on Instagram and a paltry 12k on our Twitter, but Jesus Christ, I would never in a million years ask anyone for anything for free.”

“The above stats do not make me any better than anyone else or afford me the right to not pay for something everyone else has to pay for.”

You can check out the full response below:

"Dear Social Influencer (I know your name but apparently it’s not important to use names),

"Thank you for your email looking for free accommodation in return for exposure. It takes a lot of balls to send an email like that, if not much self-respect and dignity.

"If I let you stay here in return for a feature in your video, who is going to pay the staff who look after you? Who is going to pay the housekeepers who clean your room? The waiters who serve you breakfast? The receptionist who checks you in? Who is going to pay for the light and heat you use during your stay? The laundering of your bed sheets? The water rates? Maybe I should tell my staff they will be featured in your video in lieu of receiving payment for work carried out while you’re in residence?

"Lucky for us, we too have a significant social media following. We have 186k followers on our two Facebook pages, an estimated 80k on our Snapchat, 32k on Instagram and a paltry 12k on our Twitter, but Jesus Christ, I would never in a million years ask anyone for anything for free. I also blog a bit (www.paulvstenson.com), which as far as I’m aware is another way of saying “write stuff on the internet”. The above stats do not make me any better than anyone else or afford me the right to not pay for something everyone else has to pay for.

"In future, I’d advise you to offer to pay your way like everyone else, and if the hotel in question believes your coverage will help them, maybe they’ll give you a complimentary upgrade to a suite. This would show more self-respect on your part and, let’s face it, it would be less embarrassing for you. Here is a little video I produced which you may learn from:http://bit.ly/2mKTDTD

Best regards,

Paul Stenson

Animal activists and fashion lovers are up in arms after Kendall Jenner walked the runway in what appeared to be fur coat over the weekend.

The model, who has been accused of being irresponsible, sported the garment in question as she walked the DSquared2 A/W 18 fashion show in Milan last Sunday.

The brand is being condemned online, though they have yet to confirm whether the fur-like material is real or not.

However, no one would would be blamed for assuming the former as the label is known to use fox and rabbit hair in their clothes.

The controversy comes at a pivotal time for the fashion industry, with many high-end labels having already pledged to ditch the fur in 2018.

Gucci and Michael Kors are just two of the designers that have ceased the use of fur in their products, though animal rights activists are hoping more labels will soon follow suit.

Needless to say, Twitter did not that kindly to Kendall's decision to model the fur creation, seeing as she is such a huge influence for young women across the globe.

However, others were quick to jump to the model's defence, pointing out the Kendall was just doing her job and has no choice in the clothes she is told to wear.

The hunt is on to find Ireland's best burger, and what better way to conduct such essential research than a burger festival?

As many as 300 eateries throughout Ireland will be participating in a whopping eight day burger festival, kicking off on January 22.

While we may have liked it if our new year's resolutions could have been given half a chance, this festival has truly hailed the end of the healthy eating.

BurgerFest 2018 also has the noble intention of finding the best burger in each county, as well as the over-all winner of best burger in the country.

The public will get the opportunity to vote for their favourite burger using the hashtag #IrishBurgerFest.

'Venues will be engaging in all things burger related for the week from hosting pop up nights, tasting events, man versus food challenges and creating daily burger specials,' reads the event description.

To find out what pub, restaurants, takeaways and cafes near you are participating, check out the list here.

If you're favourite place isn't on the lsit, make sure to give them the heads up about the constitution – we're sure there would be a free burger in it for you if they took home the crown.

The Joint Oireachtas environment committee will begin hearings on the Waste Reduction Bill this Wednesday.

In order to make their opinions heard, activists intend to deposit plastic waste outside the Dáil to highlight how much plastic the public are left to deal with by companies and shops.

Members of the public will bring bags of plastic waste from their household bins to Kildare street to demonstrate their stance on the issue.

Campaigners from Zero Waste Ireland, VOICE, Uplift and Friends of the Earth will be on hand to present a petition to the Government, featuring over 6,000 signatures, requesting that a deposit and return scheme for plastic bottles be created, one of the provisions in the Waste Reduction Bill.

Everyday, Ireland uses more than 500,000 plastic-lined coffee cups that can't be recycled, and 2.5 million plastic bottles that don't get recycled.

Food packaging and shopping bags also contribute to the issue.

According to Friends of the Earth, plastic waste will outweigh fish in the oceans by 2050.

For any environmentalists out there – don't worry. The activists will be removing the plastic after the demonstration.

You can follow the active via the hashtag #SickOfPlastic.
