The next time someone rolls there eyes at your casual swearing, just tell them you were being honest.

And if that doesn't work, hit them with the facts, because according to new research, people who choose to express themselves through swear words may actually be more trustworthy than those who don't.

Take that, Mam.

A study published in the Social Psychological and Personality Science journal examined 276 people to find out how and why they curse.

The team, led by Gilad Feldman of Maastricht University in the Netherlands, asked the participants to make a list of there favourite swear words as well as a 'self-report' noting how many times they used them per day.

Subject were also asked to consider any emotion they may associate with those words – e.g. Anger, fear or frustration.

The foul-mouthed participants were then asked to complete a psychological survey designed to test their honesty and rank how likely they were to lie.

When results were analysed, researchers found that those who used more profanities actually told fewer lies.

The study concluded: “We set out to provide an empirical answer to competing views regarding the relationship between profanity and honesty.”

“We found that a higher rate of profanity use was associated with more honesty.”

So, the next time you need to get something off your chest, grab your most foul-mouthed friend and pour your heart out in total confidence.

We'd be lying if we said we hadn't spent an ungodly number of sleepless night pondering some of life's unanswered questions.

Is the universe infinite? What's the meaning of it all? How DO they get the fig into Fig Rolls? – You get the drift.

And while we may never find all the answers to the thoughts that keep us up at night, scientists have just cracked one of the most frustrating – and honestly, we feel better already.

So, why are some people right handed and some people left handed?

Well, according to researchers from Ruhr-Universitat Bochum, a person's preference for moving their left or right hand actually begins in the womb, around the eight week of pregnancy.

According to Indy 100, it was previously thought that differences in gene activity of the right and left hemisphere of the brain might be responsible for a person's dominant hand preference, however it is now believed that the trait is decided during the formation of our spines.

The research, published in February 2017 in the journal eLife and funded by the German Research Foundation, concluded that:

“These results fundamentally change our understanding of the cause of hemispheric asymmetries.”

However, the study failed to mention why the majority of people are right handed and it looks like we're in for another sleepless night.

We must admit that we were pretty excited when Lifetime revealed that they were making a movie about our favourite royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

We have been counting down the days to the Royal Wedding, and this teaser trailer has made us that little bit more excited.

Starring Parisa Fitz-Henley as Meghan Markle and Burgess Abernethy as Prince Harry, Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance will follow the pair’s love story, featuring some of their most memorable moments, including the engagement.

We aren’t the only ones who are looking forward to this cheesy movie. Fans quickly commented on the teaser trailer, “Viewing party at my house! pyjamas and wine,” one fan joked.

Another added, “I'm a big dweeb but I really can't wait to watch what will undoubtedly be a schmaltz-fest.”

We will certainly be hosting a movie night when Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance is released.

Lifetime confirmed that the movie will make it’s debut on Sunday, May 13.

Irish TV presenter Vogue Williams has announced she is expecting her first child with fiancé Spencer Matthews.

The happy couple confirmed the exciting news in an interview with HELLO! magazine just one month after revealing they were engaged to be married.

Taking to Instagram this morning, Vogue shared a snap from the exclusive photoshoot, writing: "I couldn’t be more delighted to announce that we are expecting our first baby! Being with you @spencermatthews is the best thing that has ever happened to me, you are the dream."

Vogue, who is four months along, told HELLO! that the pair did the test together while on holiday in the South of France over Christmas.

"I think we were more taken aback by how quickly it had worked, as opposed to the fact we’re having a kid. Because we had already begun to try," says Spencer.

"So I just considered myself the luckiest man in the world when we got the baby news. We were heading down that matrimonial road anyway, so now we feel doubly blessed."

Rose brown works on pretty much any shade of brunette, and can even be achieved with minimal or no bleaching.

Thi Thao Tu, the hair stylist behind the look, told Allure that he uses a combination of bleach mixed with Olaplex treatment, and red and brown dyes.

The pink tones can be applied in a balayage style or as an all over colour and is the perfect way to give your tresses a little lift just in time for summer.

Yes! This week is all about the revival of the cult '90s TV show. Just as we're getting ready to welcome Sabrina the Teenage Witch back to our screens in a Netflix reboot, a modern re-work of a similarly beloved show is also (maybe) about to return.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, US network Nickelodeon is in "early discussions" to bring back the famed TV series with original star Melissa Joan Hart. Imagine!

Happily, Melissa would reprise her role as Clarissa Darling, but according to the report, the new show would make Clarissa the mother of a what we presume is children as sassy as she was back in the day.

The original Clarissa Explains It All aired between 1991-1994, then went into reruns for what was essentially the whole of the '90s (similar to friends but without quite the same staying power).

Hart herself previously hinted at a Clarissa reboot in an interview with Us Weekly. “There is some talk about Clarissa,” she said, “so we’ll see which way that goes."

She went on to say how much her character had meant to her, as the series hit its 25th anniversary.  Clarissa taught me a lot," Hart told Variety in 2016. "If she could stand up to a bully or date the bully, break boundaries and stand up for what she believed in and be smart, sassy and likeable, then I could be those things too."

The series launched Joan Hart's career. She even called her 2013 memoir Melissa Explains It All, so she obviously still has some strong nostalgia tied to working on the series.

And there's good reason to think that will actually go past the talking phase; in 2015, show creator Mitchell Kriegman wrote a novel called Things I Can't Explain, which followed a twenty-something Clarissa as she navigated life as an adult, so there would be at least some source material there as a jumping point.

Let it happen!

Ireland have been crowned Six Nations champions after they took down England in today's nail-biting final at Twickenham Stadium.

In a thrilling match, Ireland dominated England, with a final score of 15-24.

Ireland were already poised to take home The Six Nations title, but have nabbed both The Six Nations cup and The Grand Slam accolade.

Ireland quickly took the lead, and were 14-0 to England after the first 30 minutes.

The game was peppered with penalties, and saw Peter O'Mahony take home a Yellow Card.

England's valiant attempts at clawing back the game came to fruition when they scored their first try 33 minutes in, but their best wasn't good enough against the Irish.

21-year-old Jacob Stockdale secured a cheeky (and record-breaking) try in the first minute of over-time for the first half, which was turned into a stunning conversion by Joey Carbery, bringing the score to 5-21 to Ireland coming in to the second half.

England pushed to take the game back in the second half, but as renditions of The Fields of Athenry boomed from the stands, England's haphazard handling of the ball kept them from maintaining possession in the first 10 minutes of the second half, along with Irish offences' relentless strength.

The second half was an immense power struggle, as England tried and tried and tried again to get an advantage over the Irish squad.

Bundee Aki was swapped out for Jordan Larmour in the last 20 minutes due to injury after catching his head in the wrong position in a tackle as the snow picked up its intensity, but was able to walk himself off the pitch.

Exactly 60 minutes in, Conor Murray scored the first three points of the second half with a beautiful kick, bringing Ireland to 24 points, but mere minutes later, England pushed back with a neat try, raising their score for the game to 10 and regaining possession.

Keith Earls was the next Irish team member to leave the pitch, after suffering a leg injury, and Kieran Marmion takes to the pitch to finish the match.

England tried to regain control with a series of strong attempts at breaking through the Irish defence (including that last try) from but the match was won.

Man of the Match went to Tadhg Furlong.

We need a drink after that one…
