Cathy tunes, inoffensive melodies and relatable lyrics are the pillars on which Ed Sheeran has crafted his first three albums, however, it looks like the singer-songwriter could be putting that winning formula to bed for the time being, as he hints a change of direction for his next album.

Released in March of last year, his most recent album Divide went multi-platinum across the globe, however he said not concerned if his new music does not do well commercially.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, the 27-year-old explained how he does not want to give into the pressure of making another hit record.

"The next record I'm making isn't a pop album and the reason is people expect the next album to be bigger."

"If I control it and say: 'Here's a low-flying record I f****** love,' then my fans will be like, 'Yay!' and the pop world will be like, 'Well, maybe the next one'.

"No one will say, 'That's a flop.' It'll just be, 'That's what he wanted to do."

Pop or not, we're excited to hear what Ed does next!

Who doesn't love a good Netflix binge?

The online streaming service has become a familiar part of everyday life and has revolutionised the way we spend our lazy Saturday nights in.

But with thousands of films and series to choose from, narrowing down what to watch can be a real chore.

Unless you know exactly what you're looking for, scrolling through endless pages of things you've already vetoed in your head can be quite annoying.

See, the algorithm used by the streaming service makes suggestions based on the user's watching habits, meaning we often see the same films popping up over and over again.

But what if you decide to switch it up and trade your usual Hugh Grant rom-com in for an action packed horror?

Well, this Netflix hack is about to make that transition a whole lot easier.

Simply copy this link into your browser: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX

Replace the XXXX with a number from this spreadsheet of codes, and voilà – genres for days!

We can't guarantee that this will solve the 'what do you want to watch?' argument, but hey, at least you'll have options.

When US teenage Katie Kelzenberg asked Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to escort her to prom, she probably didn't expect him to even notice her request, let alone post a heartfelt video response.

Taking to Twitter last week, the 18-year-old posted a short clip in which she declared herself "the biggest Dwayne Johnson fan" before showing off her impressive collection of merchandise.

Showing off her sense of humour, Katie dressed in a turtleneck, jeans and fanny pack – a style similar to that worn by Johnson in a now infamous photo taken of him in the 90s.

"So Dwayne, will you 'rock' it at prom with me?" she finished.

Not wishing to let Katie down, but realising that he couldn't make the date due to work commitments, The Rock took it upon himself to contact her school and recorded a message to be played out over the intercom.

According to Newshub, the star can be heard saying, "you're probably thinking, 'what is 'The Rock' doing on our intercom system?'"

"Well, I'm sending a message to a very special young lady."

As a he couldn't make it to the prom, the Rampage actor tells Katie that he'd rented out an entire movie theatre for her and her friends to see him new film.

"And all the popcorn and candy and soda you can drink, it's all on me. Everything is free and I want you to go have the greatest time."

SURPRISE KATIE KELZENBERG! About a week ago, I come across a video on my Twitter feed, from a student at Stillwater Area High School (oldest high school in Minnesota) asking me if I would be her date to her prom. Unfortunately, I’ll be shooting during that time in Hawaii, BUT I was so impressed by this young lady’s charm and confidence to even ask me (ladies always get shy in front of me) that I had to do something special. I decided to rent out an entire theater (capacity 232 seats) in her town so Katie and her closest 232 friends and family can enjoy a special screening of RAMPAGE. And all the free popcorn, candy and soda high school kids can consume! You’re money’s no good Katie… everything is on Uncle DJ. !! And I also taped a special morning message surprising Katie and her high school that will play across the school’s intercom system… literally…RIGHT NOW, Katie should be turning red hearing me surprise her in front of her entire school. I wish I was there in person Katie, to see your reaction to all this, but I’ll hear about for sure and most importantly – you and all your friends have fun at the theater and ENJOY RAMPAGE! Thanks for being an AWESOME FAN and I’m a lucky dude to have fans like you. Uncle DJ Ps – the gorilla in Rampage is way smarter (and better looking) than I am, but don’t tell him that because he has a HUGE ego

A post shared by therock (@therock) on

He also posted an Instagram video in which he spoke of his admiration for Katie's "charm and confidence."

"Young ladies to high level executive women get very shy in front of me lol," he wrote.

"But this high school student stepped out of her comfort zone and hit me with the promposal."

So, it's that time of year again, the grass is green, the sun is shining – or at least, that's what you've been told.

It's not like you can actually see anything through those puffy eyes and blocked nose – that's right, hayfever season is officially upon us.

For those of you who do suffer from the irritating symptoms, finding a cure can seem impossible. Sure, you could stock up antihistamines, but remembering to take them is a task in itself.

Well, what if we told you that the answer could actually lie within your favourite bottle of gin?

Now, we know what you're thinking. Doesn't alcohol make hayfever and asthma symptoms worse?

Not necessarily. In fact, according to Asthma UK, gin could actually be the best choice of drink for hayfever sufferers.

While 64 per cent of asthmatics claim that alcohol can make their allergies worse, it seems it's actually the darker beverages that are at fault.

Drinks like red wine, beer and whiskey actually contain two triggering chemicals- histamine and sulphites.

Asthma UK instead recommend that sufferers opt for clear spirits such as gin or vodka in order to their symptoms at bay.

Now, we're not saying a tall G&T will provide a miracle cure, but it's definitely your best option on these sunny afternoons.

Gin is a particularly good choice as it does not contain any sulphites and according to The Independent, Absolute Vodka have recently revealed that their products are free from them too.

It's also best to stay away from foods like bacon, cheddar cheese, salami and tinned tuna which are usually high in histamine.

Instead, it is recommended that allergy sufferers opt for fresh meat and fish, and cheeses such as ricotta and mozzarella.

Ireland was treated to plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures this weekend. The public made the most of the sunshine by spending time in the park, at the beach, and numerous people spend hours on the canal banks.

However, images have recently emerged online showing the shocking state the canal banks were left in.

Twitter user @DJDeece wrote, “The absolute STATE of the canal. What is wrong with people? Either put your rubbish in a bin or bring it with you.”

The shocking images show the heavily littered canal banks, which were cleaned up by the local community and Councillor Claire Byrne.

Speaking of the extreme state of the canal banks, Claire Byrne stated, “People need to be a bit more responsible and just take all their rubbish home with them.”

She believes that the city needs to provide more bins to deal with the excessive crowds, “I think it needs to be a combination of both, but I think as a city we need to be providing more infrastructure, and probably larger bins and more of them during the summer months.”

She stressed that the public needs to make a bigger effort to clean up after themselves, “People need to be a little bit more responsible – take their stuff home – and perhaps we need to do a bit more of an awareness campaign around that."

Mike Myers has led tributes to his Austin Powers co-star Verne Troyer, who has died aged 49.

The actor, who was best-known for his role of Mini-Me in the film series, passed away on Friday, weeks after being admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Los Angeles.

“It is a sad day, but I hope he is in a better place. He will be greatly missed.”

According to reports, Verne had been taken to the hospital involuntarily after a friend contacted emergency services, concerned he was "drunk, extremely upset and suicidal."

The cause of death is not yet known, though a message posted on the actor's official Facebook page warned readers of the dangers of depression and suicide.

It read: “Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh."

It’s only a matter of weeks before Ireland makes a decision on whether or not the 8th Amendment will be repealed.

The 8th amendment in the Irish constitution at the moment states that the mother and unborn have equal rights.

However, repealing the 8th amendment will mean Women in Ireland will be allowed have abortions in this country without it being a criminal offence.

For some, the 8th amendment protects the unborn but for others it’s a restriction which puts the rights of a woman against the right to life of the unborn.

It’s an issue of contention and a matter of great confusion for many. The 8th amendment was introduced in 1983. At this time abortion was illegal in Ireland but the amendment engraved it into national policy.

According to a 2016 report from the UK Department of Health, 3,265 Irish women travelled to the UK seeking abortions.

To repeal or not? The problem with the debate is that both sides obviously feel so passionately about it that those in the middle, who aren’t sure how they feel are not given an opportunity to talk.

What if you are unsure, which is the case of a large number of people in Ireland?

At the minute I feel as though there is no unbiased information readily available for the public. From where I am looking, the information available to people is either swayed one way or another.

A post shared by LoveBoth Project (@lovebothproject) on

The people delivering information about the 8th are largely saying what you are if you are not voting a specific way instead of providing accurate information to all age groups and all sexes.

Information which displays the two sides fairly, what will happen if there is a change in our constitution and what this means against what will happen if we don’t change the constitution. It’s as simple as that really.

There have been no information brochures with both sides of the debate displayed posted in letterboxes and there is an element of fear mongering from both sides of the campaign.

Young people, in particular, are afraid to vote on the issue for fear of what they will be called or labelled if they vote one way or another on the divisive issue. Of course, emotion sways opinion and the 8th amendment is an emotive subject however, we will not get the voting turn out we want by essentially scaring people into decisions, which is the way I and many other young people feel.

What the state needs to do is make information available for people, so they can understand both sides and form a decision based on unbiased and accurate information and not just statistics or visual posters.

A post shared by Together for Yes (@together4yes) on

If people understand what is going on and the importance of the issue, they will then turn out to vote.

At the minute a lot of young people aren’t registering to vote because they feel it has “nothing to do with them” or they are simply unsure and in middle ground.

At the end of the day both sides have strong arguments and campaigners, but it is the people in the middle who can’t make a decision at the minute because of the limited information, who are most important.

A post shared by Together for Yes (@together4yes) on

Right now, I feel like it is a good thing even if you are in the middle of the great debate or unsure where you stand on repealing the 8th or supporting it.

This means you are questioning and thinking about it and not simply accepting what either side are saying.

This referendum will continue to make headlines for a long time but information needs to be there for people and not just through shocking figures or emotive posters. People need real information written in a subjective manner to make the decision on something so important.

The repeal campaign should be congratulated for advancing the debate and giving Irish people an opportunity to make a decision in this much needed referendum, no matter what the outcome.

If nothing else, lets be open to hearing both sides and presenting a fair platform for the debate. After all, the large undecided middle ground will be crucial and key to the outcome.

It’s that time of the year again – bloggers and celebs hit Palm Springs for the second stint of the Coachella Weekend this weekend, and the jealousy inducing Snapchat stories and smug pics are now clogging up our Instagram feeds.

However, Coachella doesn’t seem to be all it’s cracked up to be, and by looking over the surface, it seems it is more about celebs keeping up appearances.

For upcoming bloggers and celebs it seems as if Coachella is not just a music festival but an opportunity for them to build their following and also make key contacts.

Coachella is nothing like your standard Irish or UK festival.

Yes, the line-up is fantastic, with this year’s Coachella giving the stage to names like Beyonce, Eminem, The Weeknd and SZA. However, the whole vibe of Coachella seems to be more about blogger branding than the actual music itself.

Every year our favourite celebs and bloggers attend the star-studded festival, where their followers seem to multiply as a result of those pictures in front of the famous ferris wheel.

In fact, Irish blogger Louise Cooney hit the 100K mark this weekend while at the festival.

The whole festival seems to be selfie central and more about the fashion and posing than enjoying the music on offer.

Many celebs and bloggers including German blogger Masha Sedgwick have commented that Coachella is just an overcrowded, huge platform to see and to be seen, simply because everyone is there.

At Coachella you can’t drink alcohol freely while swaying over and back to your favourite songs.

If you want to drink alcohol you have to go to specially designated areas away from the festival grounds where you can only get one drink at a time. Sneaking in drink is not an option either as there is security everywhere and you are searched multiple times while entering the festival.

It seems the music is second priority for not all but many who attend Coachella, and it is more about posting on social media platforms showing “look at how much fun we are having” than actually having any fun.

Celebrities are there to be photographed by paparazzi and bloggers are there to be noticed or photographed by fashion magazines and style blogs.

The hope to pop up in a magazine under “Coachella style” certainly comes at a price – over $500 dollars to be exact – and that's just for the ticket.

Coachella seems to not be a music festival in the real sense of the word, where care free people come together in the mud to celebrate music, but only acts like one. Coachella provides a festival- like experience but without the reality.

Many bloggers make the money back on the ticket by wearing sponsored clothes, and working with co-operations which may make some a profit.

Festivals are usually a fun experience, however Coachella seems to be more about endless hashtags and pictures being uploaded onto Instagram – almost like an assignment.

If you are going to Coachella to catch a glimpse of some famous celebs, forget about it.

Most of the time celebrities don’t even go to the actual festival but chill out at Lacoste and Mulberry pool parties instead in secret locations nearby.

While everyone is moaning about how jealous they are about not getting to attend Coachella, it seems that it is a festival to show off and build a following as opposed to what the reality of a festival is.

Paddy Coughlin, founder and owner of Designer Exchange Ltd believes you can get your dream bag for an affordable price.

The pre-loved luxury handbag shop buys, sells and exchanges handbag brands such as Michael Kors all the way up to Chanel and Hermes.

The shop has over 1,200 items in stock, an average of thirty designer items are dropped in daily with customers looking to sell, exchange credit to buy another item in store and place it on consignment.

Designer Exchange mainly stocks handbags but stock also includes footwear, designer accessories such as scarves, earrings, necklaces, charms and the exception of a few Chanel jackets.

Each item dropped in by customers goes through an extensive authentication process and is kept in for roughly forty-eight hours for evaluation.

The shop opened just over six years ago on Dawson street, and celebrated the launch of a second shop location on Exchequer Street in early January.

'I think it was the natural progression for us to open a second store. We built our business over five years or so in Dawson street,' recalls Paddy. 'We needed more space to show things, we had a lot of stock. As our community grew and as our website and the awareness of our brand grew, it was only common sense to do so.'

'The goal was to create a business that was trust worthy and had longevity and that was relevant in people’s lives and since we made the transition from our early days when we were called Rare Clothing Company, we moved into designer handbags and it was the best decision we ever made.'

Paddy is no stranger to the trade industry, with ten years’ previous experience in the video game and electronic retailer, GameStop.

'I had an interest in the concept of buying, selling and exchanging. It wasn't necessarily the handbag industry. I came from a ten-year stint with the world's biggest video game retailer, GameStop.'

'In GameStop we had the same concept where we would buy, sell and exchange technology and video games and everything else. We decided when I left the company that there was a gap in the market in the lady’s world of handbags for this very thing.'

Authenticity is a question asked by many when shopping for second hand or as Paddy calls them, pre loved goods.

The shop guarantees authenticity with every piece, along with a certificate of authenticity.

'It’s the most important question a customer should ask walking through the door and you’ll find some business who deal in what we do may get offended by that question but it shouldn’t be, it should be the first question you reassure your customer with., that we make sure every piece is authentic.'

'It comes in, it gets extensively checked over whether that is counting the amount of stitches through a bag, whether its checking whether that brand ever made that bag in the first place, is it a copy that’s just a made up bag completely.'

“There are all the different little checklists that we will go through. Every brand has a minimum of fifteen different points on a checklist that we will go through and if it doesn’t complete one of those items out of those fifteen, it just doesn’t come in.'

'You can’t build a business like ours with a lack of trust or lack of integrity, so we would not be here six years if we were taking a bad attitude with regards to replicas or fakes. We are willing to put our signature on an item with an authenticity certificates, when a customer buys an item they know we stand by it one hundred percent.”

For those of you who get a headache at the thought of that price tag and splashing out loads of cash for a bag in one day, don’t worry.

Designer Exchange has an instalment plan that will allow you chip away at the price over a number of weeks.

The store offers instalment plans on the majority of their stock, the instalment plan requires a thirty percent deposit, the customer then has to pay the remaining balance over twelve week’s interest free, once you’ve paid it off you get to bring home your dream bag you have been pining over for weeks!

Designer Exchange is looking for new stock every day to add to their current collection of stunning designer goods, speaking of trading with the shop, Paddy says 'Two words, do it. Trade with us, it makes sense. We get certain people who might be upgrading brands, you get people who say Michael Kors is a great brand, Kate Spade is a great brand, sometimes people say to themselves you know what, maybe I want to move up luxury a little bit, I want to move up to Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Chanel whichever it might be.'

'Having those items to start off with in your wardrobe is great you can trade those in and we’ll give you credit against the items that you do want.'

'If you don’t have the Michael Kors or Kate Spade we are offering them at an affordable price which means that you can own it for six months, trade it back in, build up trade credit, so your handbag is never going to cost you a day one price ever again, your saving from us and have a guaranteed buy back from us which means your rotating your handbags throughout the years.”

Paddy hopes to expand his business even further in the future to other customers in Ireland who are “crying out” for a third location outside Dublin City Centre.

'We are planning on doing a series of pop ups soon enough. Kind of a whistle stop tour around hotels and give talks on how to take care of your handbag and how we can value your handbag for free on the day. We want to reach nationwide because our loyal customer base isn’t just Dublin.'

For many people, the sun's return is the perfect antidote to perk up their mood and give them new vim and vigour.

However, this pick-me-up is not felt by everyone during spells of good weather.

In fact, there are some people who struggle with a condition known as 'reverse SAD' or 'summer SAD' (seasonal affective disorder).

Reverse SAD is quite similar to seasonal affective disorder that occurs during the winter. According to mental health charity Mind's website, with reverse SAD people experience 'depressive symptoms occurring in summer'.

The condition's symptoms include anxiety, issues sleeping, agitation, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

Summer SAD is quite rare, with less than one tenth of SAD cases being reverse SAD, according to Psychology Today.

It is thought that the presence of too much sunlight causes the onset of summer SAD, as increased daylight can lead to modulations in melatonin production.

An alternative theory is that those longer daylight hours cause people to stay up later than usual, throwing off their circadian rhythms.

As well, temperature may have a part to play in the condition, which comes as no surprise when you think about how agitated people can become in the heat.

Summer SAD tends to be more prevalent in places with warmer summers, so, for example, those in the southern United States would experience it more than those in the north.

Those with the condition may start to experience symptoms around March that last until autumn.

Those that suffer from reverse SAD can check out Mind's guide to treating this complex condition or consult their doctor.

Weekend Two of Coachella is under way, and while we could sit here and fantasize all we want about hitting up the LA festival, we're trying to plan for ones more close to home.

A gang of Irish influencers made the trip over, and we're taking inspiration from them for our upcoming festival shopping trips.

The gals were all slaying the game, and we're hopping on to these festival trend they showcased:

Matador Hats

Hats are a staple wen it comes to festival style.

As well as giving you all the fash-hun credentials, they're practical when it comes to keeping the sun off your face.

We've seen baker boy caps, visors and berets all come into style this year, but for festival season, it's all about the Matador hat, as seen on Erika Fox, aka Retro Flame at this year's Coachella.

ASOS Matador Hat €27.65, WareHouse Straw Matador Hat €29.00

White Boots

A post shared by Niamh Cullen (@niamhcullenx) on

While black boots may be the go-to for most festival OOTDs (or wellies if it's raining) white boots featured massively on Instagram for Coachella-goes.

The white style was spotted on both Niamh Cullen and Retro Flame during Weekend One.

While this look might not be the most practice, they're the ultimate addition to a boho look teamed with a tan. Just remember the wet wipes for those mucky marks.

KG Ankle Boots White €55.00, Amelie Leather Ring Boots €89.86

Bandana tops

A post shared by Louise Cooney (@louisecooney_) on

Louise Cooney absolutely slayed at Coachella, but it was one of her more pared-back looks that caught our eye – in particular, this seriously cool bandana top.

Louise's is from ASOS and sadly is no longer available (however, there's a similar one here), but the people at Nine Crows have been reworking scarves and bandanas into tops since forever.

While Nine Crows is definitely an essential pit stop for any festival goer's wardrobe – these tops are being added to our wishlist.

Nine Crows Reworked halter top €25.00, Nine Crows bandana bikini top €25.00

All red everything

Red has had a major moment in fashion lately, and could probably be described as the colour of 2018 so far.

Belle Azure opted to wear the shade head to toe last weekend, and now we're lusting after an all-red look.

Whether it's a playsuit or a co-ord, a matchy-matchy ensemble is the perfect antidote to the typical haphazard festival look.

Pieces Coloured Denim Trucker Jacket €55.30 and skirt €35.95, Glamorous Playsuit In Polka Dot €44.24

Fringed denim

A post shared by Aideen Murphy (@aideenkate) on

Fringed anything is a classic festival look, but hosting the texture on a denim piece gives a Western vibe that's very Coachella.

Aideen Murphy went for a seriously distressed denim jacket at Coachella, and we're planning on adding fringe to all of our denim for the Irish festival season.

Signature 8 Denim Skirt with Fringe Hem €41.48, Bead tassel trim shorts €38.00
