Shannon Purser, who rose to fame in Stranger Things, and now stars on Riverdale made the decision to share an insight into a deeply personal aspect of her life on Twitter today.

In the aftermath of a discussion where the actress appeared to insult fans of characters Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, Shannon clarified her stance on the matter.

After being accused of 'queerbaiting' on the social media platform late last night, she felt compelled to open up about her own sexuality.

Addressing her critics, Shannon explained that she recently came out as bisexual to friends and family, and was ignorant of the term 'queerbaiting'.

"I don't normally do this, but I figure now is as good a time as any to get personal," Shannon began in the post.

"I've only just recently came out as bisexual to my family and friends. It's something I am still processing and  trying to understand and I don't like talking about it too much."

"I'm very, very new to the LGBT community. I have never heard the term 'queerbaiting' in my life until today. That being said I have never ever wanted to alienate anyone and my tweet was thoughtless."

"I wasn't referring to all the beronica shippers, just the ones who had been particularly cruel to me personally. Either way it wasn't a wise or kind thing to say and I'm disappointed in myself, especially as a Christian who has always been taught to speak love to others."

Shannon was inundated with messages of support following her decision to open up last night.

Congratulations are in order for tennis ace Serena Williams – she's expecting her first child.

The 35-year-old, who is currently on vacation with her fiancé Alexis Ohanian, followed in the footsteps of so many other celebs by sharing the wonderful news via social media.

Serena, who is a 23-time Grand Slam champ, made the big reveal by sharing a photo of herself posing in a bright yellow swimsuit. The caption simply reads: “20 weeks”.

This will be the first child for Serena and Reddit founder Alexis, who got engaged earlier this year after a 15-month romance.

The pair announced their engagement with a sweet post to Reddit (but, of course), featuring Serena showing off a whopper diamond on her ring-finger.

Recalling the Roman proposal, Serena revealed: “A carriage awaited…To escort me to my very own ‘charming’, back to where our stars first collided.

“And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance. This time he made it not by chance, but by choice. Down on one knee, he said four words, and I said yes.”

The pair are currently holidaying in idyllic surroundings (although they have not disclosed the location), and looked blissfully happy in Serena’s latest Instagram update.

So, taking the perfect selfie can be overwhelming at the best of times.

After all, there’s a lot to consider – the lighting, what filter to use, is this my good side?

Well, according to a study conducted by Dr Anukka Lindell from La Trobe University, Melbourne, it’s all about the angles.

The professor, who specialises in cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience, looked at almost 2000 selfies from 200 participants on Instagram and the results were quite interesting.

She found that both both male and females preferred to pose with their left cheek facing the camera.

But why? 

According to the Mail Online Dr Anukka said:  ‘’Selfies taken at an angle are more flattering than front on, as they show more angles, highlight cheekbones, and make the subject look slimmer.’’

She also claimed that left cheek poses made the subject appear more 'emotionally open and expressive'. 

We have to admit, we never noticed before, but maybe Dr Anukka's got a point.

Paramore have announced that they are coming to Dublin this summer.

The Tennessee rockers will play the Olympia Theatre on Dame Street on June 15, as part of their European tour.

Arthur Collins, the boyfriend of TOWIE's Ferne McCann, is wanted for questioning over an acid attack at a London nightclub.

Two men remain in a serious but stable condition at a special burns unit in London after the attack in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Detective Inspector Lee McCullough, who is leading the investigation, more than twenty people were injured with acid in Mangle E8 nightclub.

He said they "all have burn related injuries."

Police believe an argument kicked off between two groups in the club, which ended with a male suspect spraying an acidic substance on two intended victims.

Among those injured was Australian model, Isobella Fraser, 22, who was burnt down her arm and back when the acidic liquid burnt through her dress.

Ex-Premier League footballer Jamie O'Hara's cousin was also in the nightclub when the attack took place.

He described the it as "sick" after seeing his cousin, Sadie's face and head covered in blisters.

He tweeted pictures of her burns, saying, "Sick that my cousin got burnt from this acid attach in Hackney, innocent people get injured for the sick act of violence."

Ferne has urged her boyfriend to come forward and "co-operate fully" with the police.

A rep for the star said: "Ferne is aware that the police wish to speak to Arthur Collins and the nature of the accusations against him.

"Obviously these are highly shocking and Ferne has co-operated with the police in their inquiries.

"She was not with Arthur on Sunday night, was not at Mangle and has no direct knowledge of the events that unfolded.

"As much as anybody she wants to know that truth and urges Arthur to co-operate fully with the police and attend a police station immediately."

The venue was packed with about 600 people before the attack happened at 1am on Monday, at the tail end of the Easter Bank holiday. Some 600 party-goers were evacuated when emergency services arrived.

Nadia Tasher was a pretty normal 23-year-old until she began suffering from some unusual symptoms that led her to over 80 doctor’s appointments in one year.

Nadia's doctors told her she was suffering from a bad case of anxiety, but not convinced, she continued to seek medical help.

She told Cosmopolitan, “They insisted I was suffering from anxiety, and said all my symptoms were as a result of stress and panic attacks.”

The 23-year-old was convinced her condition was not a mental health issue and it turns out she was right.

Nadia was actually suffering from the life threatening condition, lupus.

The disease, which mainly affects females, causes the immune system to attack healthy organs and tissues. It can potentially cause blood clots and even heart attacks, in some cases.

Nadia first noticed that something was wrong four years ago, when an unusual rash appeared on her face. She told Cosmopolitan, “My cheeks were really red as well as the bridge of my nose, and I was getting more rashes across my arms.”

Lupus can cause the immune system to fight against healthy hair follicles and prevent new ones from growing, resulting in hair loss and thinning.

‘’It started off with my hair just feeling like it was getting thinner, but it got to a point where I would brush my hair and clumps would fall out.’’

‘’I always had really thick hair, so it was one of the things that knocked my confidence the most because it was one of the only things I really liked about my body.”

As if the rashes and hair loss weren’t enough to convince a doctor there was something seriously wrong here, Nadia also experienced dramatic weight loss, joint pain and intense fatigue.

However, despite her long list of symptoms, Nadia’s doctors prescribed anti-anxiety medication which she then refused to take.

Fed up, Nadia decided to take things into her own hands and after an extensive Google search she realised her symptoms matched those of the chronic disease.  

She demanded a series of blood tests, and even when all three came back positive, doctors still insisted the 23-year-old did not have lupus.

At her wits end, Nadia decided to see a private specialist consultant and within half an hour of the first meeting she was diagnosed with the disease.

“He could do that in half an hour and I’d been waiting for about four and a half years,” she said.

Although the diagnosis came as a relief, Nadia now has to learn to live with her symptoms for the rest of her life.

In today's current political climate, the vast majority of us prioritise safety above much else when shortlisting potential holiday destinations.

Considering this, it may be worth noting research collated by the World Economic Forum and published in its Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report.

According to the data which focussed on 136 economies, Finland is the safest, most secure country to travel to in the world.

"Finland remains the safest destination globally, despite rising concerns in most Europe, including Finland, regarding terrorism," reads the report 
 

According to reports featuring the data, researchers came to the conclusion based on 'sets of factors and policies that enable the sustainable development of the travel and tourism sector, which in turn, contributes to the development and competitiveness of a country."

In addition to being named the safest country, Finand was recently placed fifth on a United Nations' list of 'happiest countries'.

Coming in behind Finland in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report was the United Arab Emirates, Iceland, Oman, Hong Kong, Singapore, Norway, Switzerland, Rwanda and Qatar.
