The death has occurred of an Irish woman in Africa.

Majella Duffy had travelled to Tanzania earlier this month in order to take part in a charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro with Earth's Edge – an adventure travel company.

The Independent reports that Majella, who was doing the climb in honour of her late father who died of a heart attack during her teens, became unwell at approximately 4,000 metres and died at the scene.

Releasing a statement in the wake of  the Cork woman's passing, Earth's Edge said: "A client of ours has passed away on the 14th July 2017 at 8.15am local time while on Kilimanjaro."

" [Majella] died of unknown causes while being attended to by a doctor at the scene. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family."

Majella had taken to Instagram in the lead-up to the trip in order to thank all those who helped fundraise for the climb.

"Thank you to everyone who supported and donated to the Irish Heart Foundation," she wrote.

"I am proud to say we raised €8,727.60. I am so overwhelmed at how generous people are, the support and help i got organising the events was amazing."

"Thank you to my family, friends, neighbours, community and new people that I have met through the fundraising. Thank you with all my heart."

Officials are currently liaising with Majella's family.

According to emerging reports, production on the eight season of the hugely popular television show, The Walking Dead, has been halted following the death of one of the show's stuntmen.

It has been established that John Bernecker suffered an injury on the set of the show on Wednesday, and was immediately placed on a ventilator at the Atlanta Medical Centre.

Tragically, John died as a result of the injuries sustained in a fall which sources say happened after the performer lost his footing during a fight scene.

It has been reported that John fell between 20 and 30 feet before hitting a concrete floor beneath, resulting in brain damage.

A spokesperson for AMC paid tribute to John, who was just 33-years-old, in a recent statement.

"We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set," he said, according to E! News.

"He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers."

Following a post mortem examination, John's death was ruled 'accidental' by officials at the Coweta County Medical Examinor's Office.

John had worked on a number of high-profile productions including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and True Detective.

Since its launch in 2013, Longitude has grown in popularity with every passing year.

And with increasing numbers every year, it’s unsurprising you might expect bigger queues, longer delays and more intense traffic jams.

However, with the help of an interactive map, you’ll be able to swiftly navigate the crowd!

The Gardai leveraged Esri Ireland’s digital mapping platform to create an interactive map for those attending the festival in Marlay Park this weekend.

It will enable music fans to view traffic flows around Marlay Park and plan their route accordingly to avoid traffic. As well as this, local residents and commuters will be able to use the map to plan their journeys around the event.

The map also highlights some other points of interest, such as on-site first aid stations, the location of lost & found property, car parking and pick-up and drop-off points for both Dublin Bus and the Luas shuttle bus.

With the festival having kicked off some hours ago, Paul Creaner of the GIS Garda Mapping Section offered some words of advice.

“We would encourage people to travel to the event by public transport, which will not only reduce total CO2 emissions, but also help to reduce congestion in the car parks and on the surrounding roads."

"Concert-goers can use this map to find the location of the Dublin Bus pick-up area and the stop for the Luas shuttle bus," he added.

16,500 people are expected to attend the festival each day this year, with performances from Stormzy, The Weeknd and Mumford & Sons.

We've all been there.

You're 18 weeks deep on your crush's Instagram and you accidentally double-tap a photo of him with his dog.

Like any self-respecting millennial, you shriek in horror, throw your phone against the wall and wait for the sea of shame to flood over your body before booking a one-way ticket to a far-off land.

Social media etiquette is no joke, and while we know there are worse things going on in this world, revealing ourselves for the creeps we truly are will never sit well with any of us.

And it looks like GLOW's Jackie Thon knows the dilemma all too well.

We'll let her take it from here…

Forget the pots and potions, we've found the true elixir of life – and it's all about getting busy in the bedroom.

Scientists in California have found that regular sexual intimacy is associated with delayed aging process in women – no really.

A preliminary study published early this year, found that women who reported having sex during the course of the week tended to have significantly longer telomeres (the protective ends caps on our DNA that that protect the chromosome from fraying), than those who didn't.

Tomás Cabeza de Baca, lead researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, said: “Based on this body of research, we wanted to explore whether there was a health-enhancing relationship between sexual intimacy, telomere length, a biological index of systemic aging and health.”

“We wanted to examine whether sexual intimacy, within the context of a committed long-term relationship, may offer protective benefits to these markers of general health.”

The study, which looked at 129 women in long-term relationships, found that recent sexual imtimacy was positively associated with two measures of telomere length.

They also factored in  the women's overall relationship satisfaction, perceived stress levels, and partner support.

Of course, this study isn't without it's limitations.

It's quite possible that the women who reported the most sexual activity also just so happened to be the healthiest in the group.

But hey, having more sex aint gonna kill you, so knock yourself out!

Last night, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather faced off  for the third time this week ahead of their mega money fight on August 26.

Earlier this week, The Notorious was accused of racism after telling his rival to “dance for me boy” during their stop in Toronto – claims Conor has since denied.

However, the UFC star's latest comments have not done him any favours.

Taking to the mic last night, Conor said, “I want to address something."

“Some of the media seems to think I’ve got something against black people."

“But I’m half black. I’m black from the bellybutton down!”

No. Just, no.

The comments have gathered a mixed reaction on social media.

Ladies, if you're heading to Longitude this weekend, it's definitely worth your while heeding the advice of the good folk over at Met Éireann.

According to reports, forecasters have told music fans to expect a weekend of sun and high temperatures which means reapplying your sunscreen is more important than reapplying your glitter over the next two days.

A spokesperson for Met Éireann spoke to The Sun and confirmed that the sun is set to shine over Marlay Park this weekend.

"Gig goers should definitely bring sun tan lotion as we believe the sun burn index will be high. Tomorrow will be muggy and close at Longitude. It will be fairly fine into the evening."

"Sunday will be a warm, dry sunny day, maybe not as warm but a bright, fresh day all the same," they added.

According to their official website, Saturday will be "warm, humid and blustery with top temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in northern and western areas and 21 to 24 degrees elsewhere."

So, to be clear, your ticket and your suncreen are the biggest priorities if you're Longitude-bound, ladies.
