If you're a die-hard Corrie fan, you'll have seen some things in your day.

From Sarah Louise's pregnancy at 13 and Richard Hillman's killing spree to that infamous tram crash and hostage situation, Coronation Street viewers are made of stern stuff when it comes to their soap storylines.

Or are they?

While they may be able to handle all of the above, it seems they struggle when it comes to a simple hook-up scene between two of the show's male characters.

"Homosexual scenes in #Corrie tonight were sickening. Most now tolerate this practice but we don’t need it rammed down our throats," wrote one member of the public.

Stunned that producers would give the go-ahead for a kissing scene between Billy Mayhew and Todd Grimshaw, viewers took to Twitter in the droves – and Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy, is furious.

Using the same medium as his critics, he tweeted: "Had many angry tweets saying "I'm disgusted my kids saw men kiss on tv"

"I'm disgusted they left it up tv to teach their kids how love works," the actor added in a post which has been liked thousands of times.

Thankfully, it looks like Daniel's outrage hasn't been in vain and he has since returned to Twitter to thank social media users for their support.

"Thanks for ur AMAZING messages! Let's not hate on the homophobes," he wrote before adding: "We're bigger than that. Hate breeds more hate. They need love & education."

Paying tribute to the actor today, one follower replied: "I'm bursting with pride for the way you handle all of that, thank you for being a good egg."

There's notions – and then there's notions that we're actually rather fond of.

Case in point being the launch of SWEET potato fries at Abrakebabra – a menu addition that here in SHEmazing! Towers we are actually ALL sorts of excited about.

Of course, the eatery has long been a fail-safe soakage option at the end of a long night out: taco fries, quarter pounder, and a meat feast kebab ftw, after all.

However, lately the much-loved establishment has been getting seriously fancy… a move which has only made us love it even more.

Step forward the likes of crunchy falafel kebabs, chicken club burgers – and now sweet potato fries, which – as everyone knows – are totally healthy and therefore not something to feel remotely guilty about scoffing large quantities of.

The Irish-owned Abrakebabra also says Naomi Campbell, Colin Farrell, Jimmy Carr and Cheryl Cole are among its mega-fans, and frankly we're very much hoping to see Chezza tuck into a large bowl of sweet potato fries very soon.

If there's anything more heartwarming than seeing a couple of Gardaí let their hair down for a moment while on duty, we've yet to witness it.

While paroling Electric Picnic on Saturday afternoon, these two Gardaí decided to stall up and make the most of their surroundings.

And after spotting the two officers throwing a few tentative shapes to ABC's The Look of Love, one EP reveller decided to share the magic moment on social media.

And frankly, we plan to watch it any time life gets hard.

"Fair play to the two Ban Gardai! Policing as it should be! Real movers & shakers!" wrote Sean Paul O'Hare on an upload which has been doing the rounds since the weekend.

Would you look at that adorable shuffling?!

*If you haven't seen the end of season one – spoiler alert*

Whether you've just started the second season or have binge-watched it already, Narcos has been one of the greatest TV shows to come out of Netflix.

The show follows Pablo Escobar, the Colombian druglord, and his rise and demise in the drug trafficking world.

Going into the second season, we see Escobar escape from jail which lands him and indeed, everyone around him, in hot water.

We're totally hooked here in Shemazing HQ!, so we were delighted to find out that it has just been renewed for a third and fourth season.

Hurrah! We won't have to say goodbye just yet.

If the results of a recent study are to be believed, we seriously regret declaring our love for an icy G&T to anyone who'd listen.

Instead of suggesting that a taste for the bitter stuff implies a more mature palate, researchers from Innsbruck University in Austria have concluded that fans of a chilled gin are more likely to exhibit psychopathic tendencies.

No, seriously.

With the help of 1,000 participants, researchers conducted two separate experiments – one which focussed on food and drink, and one which focussed on a participant's personality.

And in a conclusion that doesn't bode well for the vast majority of us here at SHEmazing! HQ, researchers ascertained that individuals who professed a preference for bitter-tasting food and drink, such as coffee, dark chocolate and gin-and-tonic, were more likely to display psychopathic traits.

Commenting on the study's results, lead author, Christina Sagioglou, said: "Everyday sadism is a construct related to benign Masochism – the enjoyment of painful activities – which was first described and investigated by psychologist Paul Rozin."

"To quote Paul Rozin for an explanation: ‘For the case of innately aversive foods, there may be pleasure from the fact that the body is signalling rejection, but the person knows there is no real threat."

So, not only does it do nothing for our waistline, our love of the clear stuff also marks us out as psychopaths in the local.

Cheers!

Let's be real.

We can only guess that if we ever meet our heroes, we'd no doubt go into a full-on fan-girl mode and drool all over them. Not the most sophisticated, but hey… celebrities.

Well, it turns out Kim Kardashian isn't unlike the rest of us when she met her idol, Sarah Jessica Parker.

SJP went backstage at Kanye's concert last night, and met Kimmy while she was there.

Of course, Kim took to Snapchat to share a video of her just GUSHING to Sarah's face.

"You're like… my idol. You're the most amazing person on the planet," Kim tells her as Sarah just laughs off the remarks off.

We'd be happy meeting just meeting North!

If you're a regular Dublin Bus user, you'll be well aware that industrial action means services will come to a standstill for six days across September.

But did you know that in preparation for the first day of strike action on Thursday September 8th, service will actually terminate from 9pm on Wednesday September 7th?

According to Newstalk, Dublin Bus have advised customers of this change to schedule, saying they have "no option but to terminate all routes at [9pm] on Wednesday night."

Elaborating on the plans, they explain that final departures on all routes will be "up to and including' 9pm, to ensure 'safe and secure' return of buses to depots."

Despite talks last Friday, those involved failed to resolve issues surrounding drivers' pay wages, and Dublin Bus has urged drivers not to commit to strike action.

"Dublin Bus has urged trade unions not to engage in this industrial action which will cause unnecessary inconvenience to customers," they advised.

"We will continue to make every endeavour to avoid any disruption to services and find a resolution to the matter." the company said.

Urgh, we feel a meltdown coming on.

As most One Direction fans will know, back in June former band member Zayn Malik was forced to pull his act from London’s Capital Summertime Ball because of his issues with anxiety.

And while the singer has since opened up about his battle with mental health, today’s news confirms that Zayn’s personal struggles are not quite over.

According to the Mail Online, the former X Factor contestant has been forced to cancel his upcoming gig in Dubai because he does not feel “sufficiently confident” to perform on stage.

In a press release detailing the cancellation of the October 7 show, Zayn said: “I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances.”

“I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October.”

Gulf News has reported that the Dubai gig was the 23-year-old’s only remaining scheduled solo concert since he left One D last year.

Zayn is one of a number of stars – which includes Selena Gomez and Rita Ora – to publicly acknowledge how anxiety has affected their lives in recent months.

We hope he receives the help he needs to get back on track.

Taylor Swift might have Calvin beat in the rebound department, but that doesn’t mean the Scottish DJ has been missing from the world of dating since their drama-filled Summer split.

And while the This Is What You Came For hitmaker has been linked to numerous women over the past couple of months, it seems he’s now set his sights on Mexican actress Eiza González.

After the 32-year-old record producer was seen leaving a friend’s party in LA with the 26-year-old singer on Saturday night, PEOPLE reported that the pair have been “talking and hanging out”.

But before we all jump to conclusions and start calling Eiza Calvin’s BAE, a source told Us that the pair’s relationship is still “very new” and that they had “wanted to keep it low-key for a while” until pictures of them together surfaced and pretty much scrapped any chance of that happening.

The source also claimed Calvin and Eiza – who has previously been linked to Liam Hemsworth and Cristiano Ronaldo – are “both happy” but suggested that neither star is getting carried away with the romance right now.

Conor McGregor has sparked rumours he is OR already has tied the knot to long-time love, Dee Devlin.

The Dublin native shared a photo of him and Dee in a lift and captioned it, "The McGregor's," and nothing else. No love-heart emojis, no winky faces. Nothing.

Note: Dee is also hiding her hands (wedding ring?):

It is the chance accident that will strike fear into the heart of every owner of a dog: incredibly, a Chihuahua puppy was swallowed up into quicksand while out on an otherwise mundane walk.

Owner Paul Scott was walking his three-month old pet, Dave, along the beach with his girlfriend, Kyla Holmes, when the terrifying incident took place.

He spotted the beloved animal disappear into the sand on the popular Seaton Sluice Beach in Northumberland – prompting a race-against-the-clock rescue.

He and his girlfriend were thankfully able to haul the completely submerged puppy out to safety, with Kyla then later filming Paul using a dog ball launcher to probe the pit.

The footage shows Mr Scott plunge the toy and his entire arm into the sand – as Dave the pup plays happily nearby. It is believed that the sand was at least 1.5metres deep.

The 51-year-old, who lives in Seaton Delaval, described their ordeal: “We were just walking along the beach then out of nowhere he disappeared.

“He is only little but luckily I had seen what happened and was able to fish him out. Who knows what could have happened.

“The quicksand is really dangerous and I am very concerned there is going to be a serious accident.”

Paul, a regional sales manager, explained that Dave “went underneath the sand completely and disappeared. If Kyla had not seen him go under we would not have known where he was.

“He made no sound and he was just gone. He would have just disappeared without a trace.

“Kyla rushed over and stuck her arm in and pulled him out. He had been completely submerged but he was fine. It was very lucky.”

Mr Scott added: “It is concerning because what happens if it is another dog or a young child next time. People need to be aware.”

He later contacted the Maritime And Coastguard Agency, who carried out an investigation into the incident.

Adam Turner, senior coastal operations officer for the UK Coastguard, said: “Our advice is always the same if you become stuck in mud or quicksand – stay calm, try and spread your weight as much as possible and avoid moving. Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

“Anybody trapped should also discourage other well-meaning members of the public from attempting to rescue them because without the proper equipment they could become stuck too.”

Finally, Paul revealed that Dave has at least fully recovered from his ordeal. "He was fine," he said. "He just shook it off and went on his way. I think we were more shocked by it than him."
