Joe Jonas and long-time friend, model Gigi Hadid made their relationship status official when they appeared at the 2015 Father of the Year Awards last night. Well, kind of.

The rumoured couple were both in attendance at the event, and both did walk the red carpet. They just didn’t actually do it together.

Despite the separate strolls down the carpet for the many, many photographers, People magazine reports the pair were very touchy feely for the evening.

Adding fuel to the relationship rumours was none other than Joe’s mom. While fans of the pair are crowning them the cutest Hollywood couple (who have yet to say they are a couple), Mama Jonas may not yet be convinced.

Considering Joe has only recently split from girlfriend of almost two years, Olivia Culpo, his mom has yet to give model Gigi her seal of approval.

When interviewed by the press at the event Denise Jonas said about her son’s relationships;

“I try to stay out of it as a mom because all of my children’s girlfriends and friends become part of my family and my heart. I love all of them. And I try to stay out of it.”

In response to questions about Joe and Gigi’s budding romance though, Denise was quick to weigh-in; “I don’t know yet. I have to see,” she said to reports at the Beverly Hills event in aid of the American Diabetes Association.

So much for staying out of it then as she then said as to whether she was welcoming the Sports Illustrated model into her family “we’ll see! Check with me in a month.”

But Denise also pointed out that while she wants to keep her sons protects from any romantic mishaps they may encounter, her main focus is ensuring they are all healthy. Both Joe and mom Denise told reporters how difficult it was for their family when brother Nick was diagnosed with diabetes at age 13.

Now though, according to Joe, Nick has “a pretty good handle on it” and he’s impressed with how Nick has handled fame and the disease.

We are also impressed, especially with all those topless photos of singer floating around. Very impressed.
