If you're trying to drop a few pounds, cutting out sugar where possible is key. A low-sugar diet is generally more nutritious and will leave you feeling fuller for longer.

Even though you might be cutting down on fizzy drinks or chocolate, sugar can still creep up on you in smaller ways – in baked goods, breads, flavoured coffees or juices.

Here are some natural substitutes that make great alternatives…

1. Agave nectar
This plant nectar is becoming more widely available in supermarkets and health shops. It has a similar taste to honey and can be used in baking in place of sugar, or to add sweetness to hot drinks.

2. Honey
Honey is a far healthier alternative to plain sugar, and it has some great nutritional properties too – it aids in digestive function and can help ease a sore throat.

3. Lemon
Rather than mixing your drinks with sugary cordial or fizzy drinks, use slimline tonic or soda with a slice of lemon or lime. A crisp, fresh taste that is far lower in calories!

4. Cranberries
Tart fruits like cranberries are great for adding sweetness to cakes, scones and bread without the addition of granulated sugar. They're full of immune-boosting antioxidants too.

5. Stevia
This concentrated sugar substitute comes from the South American stevia plant. It's granules have 150 times the sweetness of sugar, so a tiny amount is all that's needed for sweetening coffee, tea or juices. Many drinks companies are copping on to the benefits of stevia – it's one of the key ingredients in the new Coca-Cola Life drink, which is meant to be a healthier alternative to the regular Coke.

Gwyneth Paltrow is one very lucky lady. Max Factor chose The Avengers actress to help celebrate ‘100 years of Glamour' and by the looks of things, she adored every minute of it. Gwyneth has helped the cosmetic company recreate days gone by numerous times in the last year and nailed it on each occasion.

The Oscar-winning actress's final contribution to the celebration was a Marilyn Monroe inspired look and we think Gwyneth could pass for a gal of Marilyn’s era in a heartbeat. Complete with 1940’s trademark red lips and thick dark lashes, this final look positively oozes glamour and Gwyneth looks every inch the screen siren.

The stunning blonde was also transformed into 1950’s star Audrey Hepburn and channelled her inner Brigitte Bardot and Farrah Fawcett for the 1960’s and 1970’s looks earlier this year. Gwyneth was also put in the rather awkward position of having to embody former BFF Madonna for Max Factor’s 80’s shoot, but unsurprisingly worked it like a pro.

We don’t know about you, but we think the Marilyn look is our favourite by far!

This is so adorable!

In a very clever trick, that obviously involved a dog and her puppy…we're not that naive (kind of) this pair manage to shrink their dog back into a puppy!

How cute – although we're not sure we could handle that puppy behaviour forever, we love our older doggies too.

Most of us probably spend more time thinking about sex than we'd ever admit – but how much do we actually know about it besides the basics?

As dedicated writers, we've hunted down some of the most bizarre and interesting facts about getting down and dirty to help educate you!

Here are just a few…

1. The average speed of male ejaculation is 45 km/hour.
That's kinda scary!

2. The Greeks have the most sex
A Durex survey revealed that the most sex is had in Greece, followed by Spain and Brazil. So maybe if Ireland had a similarly sunny climate we'd be getting more action in the bedroom?

3. The G in G-spot is named after Dr Ernst Grafenberg
The German gynaecologist "discovered" its existence back in the 1940s. The term was first coined in 1981.

4. Just 25% of women can reach orgasm from intercourse alone
As for the rest of us? Foreplay, foreplay, foreplay.

5. The average sex session burns around 100 calories
And different positions like getting on top can burn 50% more. That's as good a reason as any to skip the gym!

6. What's your number?
Just one in ten Irish people in their thirties claim to have had more than 20 partners. The average amount of partners by the time we reach our thirties is eight or nine. Phew!

7. Men reach their sexual peak long before us ladies
Men's testosterone production is at its highest when they are aged 17 and 18, meaning they technically reach their sexual peak at that age. Us ladies take a little longer – our oestrogen production doesn't peak until we reach age 28.

8. Humans aren't the only ones enjoying oral sex!
Many animals engage in it with their mating partners – including bears, bats and goats.

9. The average woman will have sex over 3,000 times in her lifetime.
It all adds up!

10. Basically, everyone hates the word "vagina"
There are around 1,000 recognised euphemisms or nicknames for the word in the English language. Some of us just can't call it by its real name!

11. Like a sneeze, an orgasm can't be stopped once it has started
Bless you!

12. Orgasms are natural painkillers
When we orgasm our body releases endorphins which can reduce pain. Oxytocin is also released, which makes us feel closer to our partner. Aaaaw!

13. Don't kick off the duvet just yet
You're more likely to orgasm if your feet are warm and toasty.

14. The size of your breasts can increase by up to 25% during sex
A woman's breast size grows when she is aroused, meaning her boobs become more sensitive to touch.

15. It's possible for a man to orgasm without ejaculating
So there won't always be "evidence"!

Kris Jenner has had the wrath of Bruce’s mother brought down upon her head – and it isn’t a pretty picture!

Esther Jenner has spoken with The Daily Mail in an exclusive interview that reveals she has NO time for her former daughter-in-law, saying: “She was backstabbing as far as my grandchildren were concerned, and that is something I can’t stand … she’s domineering – it’s do it her way, or there’s no way. I had very little to do with Kris. I stayed away from her as much as I could.”

Esther also slammed Kris’ controlling ways when it came to her son, saying: “Since he has got his freedom and doesn’t have to as Kris for money which he’s had to do, he couldn’t even buy one of his little helicopters without asking her for money.”

The angry mother-in-law also said she hopes Kris changed her name back to Kardashian: “I don’t want her to carry the name.”

Rather shockingly, Esther also accused Kris of not raising Kendall and Kylie: “Kris hasn’t bothered to bring up Kendall and Kylie, but Bruce has brought them up, thank God.”

Yikes! We’re not sure Kris is going to like those words about her mothering skills too much– hopefully she doesn’t take it out on poor Bruce!

Now that Ireland’s climate has gone full-on wintery with rain and wind galore, it might be time to say goodbye to those heels and embrace the cozy ankle boot.

A simple leather boot is an easy way to look slick and stylish without compromising on comfort. Whether you go for a killer heel or a flat Chelsea boot, there is something out there for everyone and to suit any price range.

The humble ankle boot is hugely versatile – here are just some of the ways we’ll be wearing our pair this season…

1. Colour pop
Steering away from the standard black, brown or tan is a great way to add a bolder element to your outfit. Caroline Flack’s bright red pair are edgy enough to wear on a night out, but could easily be dressed down with plain black jeans:

2. Lengthen those legs
Tucking a jegging, legging or ultra-skinny jean into your ankle boots is a great way to lengthen the leg line. Cara Delevingne is a big fan of this look – though her legs are long enough as it is!

3. Fold it over
Double cuff your jeans to show off just a peek of ankle. Boyfriend jeans are great for this look, but they do shorten the leg line more than cuffed skinnies, so be careful if you have naturally shorter legs. Rachel Bilson pulls this style off like a pro:

4. Put a sock in it
Layering high ankle socks over leggings, tights or even bare legs gives a real prairie-girl touch to your ankle boots. Avoid this look over thicker jeans unless you want to look like a hillwalker! This style blogger has the right idea:

5. Dress it up
Despite the colder weather, wearing a summer dress is still an option – just add tights, a chunky cardigan or leather jacket and your trusty boots. Beautiful!

6. Pencil perfect
A midi-length pencil skirt with a heeled ankle book is a really slick high-fashion look – channel your inner Rihanna for this one:

7. Nip and tuck
Tailored trousers look really classy with a slim line ankle boot (no buckles or thick straps), especially if you show off a touch of skin. This model gets it just right:

8. Get some bling
Embellished ankle boots with details like studs, cut-outs or chunky buckles are a great way to add a grungy, edgy touch to an otherwise basic outfit. We love Emma Roberts’ Chloé pair:

Beyoncé has been accused of photoshop at least ten times now – but it seems not even that will stop her!

The superstar shared photos of herself in a bodysuit that read: “99 problems but my a** ain’t one.”

However, it seems one of her problems may be her (or her entourage’s) ability to photoshop in a way nobody will notice – because all of her fans have!

Fans of the singer seem to be disgruntled by the image touches because (according to some) it contradicts the message she is trying to convey: “Beyoncé makes millions of pounds on songs about feminism but continues to photoshop her body to make her look perfect, is why I’m not a fan.”

Others have said that if she wishes to do so, do, but at least do it properly: “like, if Beyoncé wanna photoshop there’s no shame in it but sis HIRE AN EXPERT??”

At this stage, it seems like people will accuse her of photoshop either way – we reckon she looks pretty fab without it but we all have our insecurities!

No matter how hard you look, I bet you can’t find one woman out there who is 100% happy with every single detail and inch of her body and with every failure and success she has ever had.

Each one of us, no matter how much self-confidence we have, has something we want to fix about ourselves.

It could be a tiny flaw, or it could be something more significant. But the sad fact of being a woman is that we often judge ourselves too harshly, and view other females as better versions of ourselves – more beautiful, more successful, more content.

Last week Sophia Loren opened up about the infamous “side-eye” photo of her staring at Jayne Mansfield’s breasts back in 1957. The actress admitted that she hates how well-known the image has become and that she refuses to autograph it.

But women all over the world loved the picture, and still do, for the fact that it made envy and jealousy of our fellow females seem a little more acceptable. Okay, throwing serious shade in public is not the best way to express your feelings, but we all do it, even if it’s just in our heads.

Envying other women might not be the nicest trait in the world, but it’s something each of us is guilty of.

We pick out other women and simply assume they have better, easier lives because they have amazing hair, long legs, or gorgeous clothes. They have all that, so they must be happier than us.

What we need to realise though, is that the woman we are girl-crushing after on the street is just another person wishing they had what someone else has. So maybe it’s time to stop lusting after a better image of ourselves and to instead focus on what it is that makes us special – what it is that would make others envious of US.

A couple of years ago, journalist Samantha Brick wrote an article for the Daily Mail titled, “There are downsides to looking this pretty: Why women hate me for being beautiful.” It’s the kind of headline that instantly makes us roll our eyes. While it does seem more than a bit arrogant to speak openly about how good looking you are and how others hate you for it, the writer did have a point about the negative interaction that goes on between women every day.

“If you’re a woman reading this, I’d hazard that you’ve already formed your own opinion about me — and it won’t be very flattering,” she wrote. “I can’t wait for the wrinkles and the grey hair that will help me blend into the background. Perhaps then the sisterhood will finally stop judging me so harshly on what I look like, and instead accept me for who I am.” Ouch.

Next time you envy (or even judge) another woman for something she has that you don’t, try to see the bigger picture. Rather than gossiping gleefully about that colleague at work or old schoolmate, ask yourself if she really deserves that kind of treatment. After all, isn’t she just another women wishing she was someone else?

Hilary Duff has something of an on-off relationship with her estranged husband, Mike Comrie.

While the couple have not announced their reconciliation officially, they were spotted holding hands at a Halloween party, sparking rumours they are back together.

However, speculation that she is actually in a new relationship are now rampant, after she posted a photo of her with her co-star Nico Tortorella's arms wrapped around her waist.

Hilary is starring in upcoming TV show, Younger which is due to air in the US in January 2015.

Hilary then made thing even more confusing when she deleted what could have been argued as a totally innocent photo, from her Instagram feed altogether!

Hmm, quite suspicious…
