A new film about a retired gay couple has been given an R rating by a US classification body, even though it has no sex, violence or drug taking in any of its scenes.

This classification means that children under 17-years-old must be accompanied by an adult if they want to see the film, Love Is Strange.

This is very weird, especially when you compare it to other R-rated films like Monster or Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, both of which contain quite a bit of sex, violence and drug abuse.

Could homophobia be to blame for such an innocent film getting rated like this? In Ireland, the film was rated 15A, and Canada gave it PG rating, so what could have made such a difference between the different countries?

Check out the trailer for yourself to see if you think it was deserved or not!

We love our mammies, truly, we do.

But sometimes they just get it so, so wrong.

This Irish mammy in particular messed up her son's Ice Bucket Challenge by not listening to instructions properly (they're always at that) and throwing it over him too soon.

Poor Ben didn't even get his nominations in.

And hence, #jesusmammy was born.

We mostly feel bad for the poor dog!

Oh no! It looks like Chloë Moretz and Julian Moraes are officially an item!

The two were spotted holding hands in New York and looking very sweet and in love recently.

But…what about Brooklyn Beckham?!

It had previously been rumoured that the Carrie actress was dating the oldest Beckham when they were spotted skateboarding together.

So, what is happening now then?

To make the situation even more baffling, Brooklyn attended Chloë's premiere of her new movie, If I Stay earlier this week.

Unfortunately, it seems as if Chloë and Brooklyn may just be friends, if not, she probably has some explaining to do about that handholding…

It has been reported that Chloë and Julian have been together for some time now, this note, reading simply: "I love you, J" was shared with her followers on Instagram back in January, so it looks like the two are still going strong.

We were really rooting for Brooklyn…

Whether it’s scarlet, ruby or cherry, red has always been known as a powerful colour – and now psychologists have found that wearing it actually enhances a woman’s sex appeal and makes her seem warmer and more approachable.

The researchers, from Wuhan University in China, also found that red adds to a woman’s overall impression of competence. The colour’s effect was measured by asking participants to rate how attractive they found photos of men and women wearing blue, white or red.

The study discovered that the colour also makes men seem more attractive, but the effect isn’t quite so potent.

So ladies, it seems red is the perfect choice next time you’re looking for an outfit to make you stand out from the crowd! Here’s a few tips for how to work red into your outfit without going too full-on:

1. Print perfect
Mix a red-based print into your outfit for a touch of sexy style. Tartan is a great casual way to work red into your look, or go for a demure floral white and red print like Kelly Brook:

2. Get accessorised
Statement bags, shoes, belts or jewellery are a great way to work a pop of red into your look without going too Jessica Rabbit. Miranda Kerr’s red bag really livens up an otherwise simple outfit:

3. Pick one
Try livening up more muted tones with a touch of colour for just one part of your outfit, like Leighton Meesters’s stunning black, cream and red ensemble:

The 5th annual Irish Redhead Convention is getting started this evening in Crosshaven, Co. Cork, and it sounds like it’s going to be LOADS of craic.

They have a carrot tossing competition, the best red eyebrows competition and let’s not forget the most freckles per squared inch competition. There’s even speed dating if you fancy bagging yourself a redhead!

The festival is a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society, so it’s for a good cause too. And all you non-redheads are more than welcome too, by the way.

We wonder if any of our famous friends will be showing their faces… Here are some of our favourite celebs with red hair – sorry, we mean strawberry blonde!

When Christina Hendricks was told to dye her hair red for her modelling career, she wasn't so sure, but it worked out pretty well! "I booked two or three jobs, because were a lot fewer redheads than blondes, and I was like, this is working for me, I’m keeping this!"

We love Emma Stone, and she loves being a redhead! "I’m blonde at the roots but red at heart.”

We were always so jealous of Debra Messing's red, curly hair!

Thank God Nicola Roberts stopped dying her hair brown and wearing fake tan – she looks WAY better when she goes natural!

Ed Sheeran is another one who says his red hair helped his career! "Being ginger can seem like a bad thing when you are young but as a musician it has been my saving grace – because if you see a ginger kid on TV and there is only one messy-haired ginger kid who plays guitar, it is very easy to find them on YouTube."

Being socially awkward isn’t easy, especially in this modern, outgoing world we’re living in today. And here are the reasons why:

Everyone loves hugging each other
Since when did this become a thing? It’s impossible to make a quiet exit from a party anymore because the host is standing at the door with her arms wide open, waiting for a big bear hug. Personal space is at an all time low in modern Ireland – bring back the days where a quick nod across a crowded room would suffice!

Skype
"Let's Skype!" – no, let's not. It's so awkward. We don’t know where to look. And it's more effort because you have to actually appear interested aswell as making all the usual 'I'm listening' sounds. And you can't even hear them properly! Can we not just use our phones, like the good old days? We don’t mind the long distance charges, seriously, it’s worth it.

'Free hugs'
As we've mentioned, hugging people you know is bad enough. When some stranger comes towards you in the street with their arms outstretched, a big goofy smile on their face and a t-shirt emblazoned with 'FREE HUGS!', it's the stuff nightmares are made of. When did this kind of behaviour become ok? Damn those happy, free lovin’ hipsters!

Job Interviews
These days, it’s not enough to prove that you can do the job you’ve applied for. You also have to have some kind of elaborate presentation planned, with some hilarious jokes thrown in to show how outgoing and friendly you are. This is a nightmare scenario for any socially awkward person.

The voice recorder on Whatsapp
When someone sends you a voice message on Whatsapp, is it ok to just send a text reply? Or is that ruining all the craic? There’s a reason voice mails died out ye know!

Talking it out
We know it’s not good to leave things unsaid – but it is SO much easier! Everyone loves to talk things out these days, to “get it all out there”, but we can’t help but yearn for the days of brushing stuff under the carpet. Life was so much simpler back then.

It’s one of those moments that makes you go “Eeeek” when you spot your ex-boyfriend in the same place as you.

For us, it’s easy enough to avoid them, just use people as shields and if they come towards you, run to the bathroom.

But if you’re Rihanna, it’s a little harder because you’re sitting courtside (obviously) and your ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown is playing the charity basketball match…

Did nobody warn her or is this pre-meditated? And where is Karrueche?

Like we said, awkward.

Thankfully, Rihanna being, well, Rihanna, nothing phases her and she even looks a little mischievous we think…what could she be up to?

It was only two days ago that Chris declared his love for his current girlfriend, even saying he wanted her baby.

Meanwhile, RiRi is said to be back with her ex, Drake, after she was seen dancing at his concert recently.

Something tell us this saga is far from over.

Many of us out there chose arts for different reasons. Maybe we were really good at English, or History, and chose to go down that route to teaching or writing. Maybe we just didn't quite know what we wanted to do and chose the best course that would offer us choices. Either way, we don't regret it (much). Here are some things we are sick of hearing:

1. “Oh you’re in arts … bad one”
You're an idiot…bad one.

2. “What course did you want to get?”
Law, but that’s really not the point…just feck off!

3) “What are you gonna do after though? Is it annoying that you can’t really use your degree?”
I don’t go around interrogating you about what you’re gonna do. Maybe I’m going to do something in the subject I have been studying…ever think of that?

4."Ah ye but she’s just in arts. Why would she be worried about grades, it’s so easy sure”
We hate you.

5. “What do you mean your subjects aren’t all set out for you? That must be soooooo annoying!”
I’m coming for you…

6. “You got your credits wrong!”
Okay I know it’s my fault but please don’t give out to me now. Doing an extra subject this semester will not be fun.

7. “Oh you’re doing a masters in English/Social Science/Psychology? Really? I thought they only did them in Business?”
You know there is more to life than a business masters people!

8. “So you’re going to be a teacher then are you?”
No, I’m not. There is more that you can do with an Arts degree you know?

And for the grand finale…

9. “Do you want fries with your degree?”
Sigh and walk away, never indulge.

I'm sorry, but were you born stupid

We’re not sure if this wins or loses all of the Ice Bucket Challenges ever.

This girl got her wisdom teeth out, and judging by the blood, it wasn’t all that long ago. So, what better to do than decide this is the opportune moment to do the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS.

“Ssh… she’s coming!”

The bit where she actually throws the water has to be our favourite…you’ll see.

Thankfully, she herself is a little confused as to why she put the video up, writing in her YouTube account: "I guess for some reason I decided to do an Ice Bucket Challenge an hour after I got my wisdom teeth out?"

We're so glad you did though.

The ALS ice bucket challenge has taken social media by storm and in particular celebrities have been quite partial to soaking themselves in icy cold water, all in a bid to raise money and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease research. ALL of the Beckhams have chosen to take part, which was kickstarted by Ryan Seacrest's nomination of David, much to our delight. Watch the footage here!
