Superstar Lady Gaga opened up about a traumatic experience from her past in an interview earlier today.

The singer was discussing her song Swine on The Howard Stern Show when the issue came up. "The song is about rape," she told TV host Howard Stern. "The song is about demoralisation. The song is about rage and fury and passion, and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release."

When Howard pushed for details of the singer's experience, Gaga laughed the question off at first before revealing some details about the incident, which happened in her late teens.

"My music's been wonderful for me. But, you know, I was a shell of my former self at one point. I was not myself," she said. "To be fair, I was about 19. I went to Catholic school and then all this crazy stuff happened, and I was going, 'Oh, is this just the way adults are?'…I was very naïve."

The Fame singer said that she "wasn't even willing to admit that anything had even happened" at first, and that it took years before the impact of the incident really came to light.

"It didn't affect me as much right after as it did about four or five years later," she told Howard. "It hit me so hard. I was so traumatised by it that I was like, 'Just keep going.' Because I just had to get out of there."

The star also opened up about her struggles with mental health and addiction. "When my life got more and more stressful, it was like I was just smokin' and drinkin' and poppin'—anything I could do to just chill out," she said. "Now I meditate…I do yoga."

Despite the trauma, the singer says she has since moved on and doesn't want her past to define her. "I'll be damned if somebody's gonna say that every creatively intelligent thing that I ever did is all boiled down to one d**khead who did that to me," she said in the interview.

We're glad Gaga found the strength to discuss the incident.

Viewers watching Sunday night's X Factor results show might not have noticed too much tension between Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B, but behind the scenes things were really heating up.

Cheryl was reportedly "livid" that Mel chose to save boy band Stereo Kicks over Lauren Platt, an act of Cheryl's who had always been a favourite of Mel's.

The former Girls Aloud star briefly addressed her annoyance on air, saying, "I find it amazing that the critiques have been a certain way over the last few weeks, then it comes to this part and it changes – that amazes me."

Mel B was then spotted mouthing "You what?" at her fellow judge, but host Dermot O'Leary moved on before giving the singer a chance to properly respond.

According to an insider, it was after the live show ended that the cat-fighting really began. "Mel is more than capable of standing up for herself and when the cameras stopped rolling, she pulled Cheryl up straight away," a source told The Sun. "That led to a really frosty moment… Cheryl was livid that Mel turned on her act and the fact she called her out in front of millions of people just shows how angry she was."

Despite Mel's attempts to explain her decision to vote for Stereo Kicks, Cheryl apparently refused to sit next to her during The Xtra Factor, filmed after the results show.

This isn't the first time Cheryl has moved seats following a row with a fellow judge – last month she demanded that Louis swap seats with her on air after coming to blows with Simon over his act Jay James. But it sounds like things could be a little more serious this time. "What happened between Cheryl and Mel B on Sunday was real." said the source.

"In Cheryl's opinion, Mel completely went back on everything she has been saying all series about Lauren and Stereo Kicks."

Wow… we hope they can sort things out before next Saturday!

“I’m fine.”

Those two little words will sound familiar to any girl who’s ever held back her feelings in a relationship. Whether you mutter them through gritted teeth just before you sit down with friends for dinner, or say them lying in bed after an argument, we’ve all used the “I’m fine” trick once or twice.

The thing is though, by saying “I’m fine,” we are just giving our partners an easy way out. We may assume that by saying the words in a certain tone or with angry body language it should be obvious that we are most certainly NOT fine right now… but in all likelihood it’s probably only clear to us.

We say, “I’m fine,” so we must be alright. But by using those words, we are just withholding the truth. If you’re not fine, but you aren’t in the mood for confrontation right now, why not say exactly that? Why pretend that everything is okay?

It’s not the words themselves that are the problem – there are many different versions of the “I’m fine” lie – but simply the fact that we are holding back our feelings at all.

Often we keep our feelings tucked away because we’re worried about the reaction. Why stir things up when we could just gloss over it? But if something upsets you, it’s worth discussing. If something bothers you, it’s important for that reason alone. What affects you should affect your partner too. Our emotions are valid and when something’s not right we shouldn’t just let it go.

If someone cares about you, they shouldn’t make you feel like you can’t express your emotions. Sure, sometimes a full-on discussion just isn’t appropriate, in a public place or at a gathering with friends, for example. But that’s no reason to pretend things are fine when they’re not. It’s okay to say, “what you did just now really upset me, can we talk about it later?” It’s alright to say, “That hurt me.”

Us ladies have a big complex about being thought of as cray-cray. We’d do anything to avoid being “that girl,” the high maintenance and demanding girlfriend who always seems to have a problem with something. But having negative feelings does not make you crazy. What makes you crazy is holding them in and pretending that everything’s just perfect.

Next time something’s bothering you, avoid the silent treatment and just let your other half know what’s up. Yes, it might cause stress or heated words in the short term, but it’s a far better option than saying nothing and waiting for those bottled up emotions to explode further down the line. Make being open your New Year’s resolution and remember that no issue is too big or too small to talk about with someone you love.

Harry Styles had a big evening at last night's British Fashion Awards. Not only did he present Emma Watson with the coveted Style Award for 2014, but he also posed for THIS photo with the actress:

There they are, just casually looking stunning together.

The internet was quick to pick up on the romantic vibes between the pair, especially when Harry gave Emma a quick peck on the cheek after presenting her with the award. Twitter exploded with talk of "Hemma," the ultimate celebrity couple:

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, let's remember that Emma is currently in a relationship with 22-year-old Oxford student Matthew Janney.

If these holiday pictures from their trip to the Carribean earlier this year are anything to go by, the two are pretty smitten.

Well, it just means that Harry will have to work a little bit harder to woo her, won't he!

Roll on the #Hemma wedding!

Your weekly event guide is here brought to you by Niamh Geaney. This week we look at the classic Chrismtas panto along with another panto which is a little bit different, adults only! We take a look at Panti’s fabulous show, artisan food in Tipperary and a gig not to be missed this Christmas in Limerick, check it out!

Join us back here tomorrow where we'll be rounding up what's hot and what's not in the cinema this week in Pic 'n' Mix.

Some of us have decided that in the run-up to Christmas, we might cut back just a little to make room for all the amazing treats we get to devour for two weeks over the festive season, but this can be a little hard when we don’t want to disrupt our normal routine too much, right?

Take the cinema, for example. New releases and mountains of chocolate go hand-in-hand, so what’s the girl with a diet goal in mind to do of a miserable winter evening when she wants to hit the cinema without chowing down?

It’s actually easier than we think to stick to our goals even when we’re at something that normally encourages a pig-out-fest.

It all comes down to simple choices and a tiny bit of preparation!

Swap #1

Resist the urge for your normal cheesy taco extravaganza and instead throw a bag of low-cal crisps into your handbag and a small tub of hummus before you leave the house.

Yes, it’s just as tasty and no, no one will think you’re weird!

Swap #2

Say no to a fizzy drink and family sized bag of chocolate and instead pick up a large tea or coffee and enjoy it with a health bar like, Nakd Cocoa Orange.

Since when was tea and chocolate NOT the perfect accompaniment to a movie-night?

Swap #3

Why not close your eyes to the calorie-laden ice cream stand and instead get your sugar and fruit fix by indulging in some frozen yoghurt or bringing a smoothie along with you?

We love smoothies and frozen yoghurt, we’re just not used to associating them with the cinema, so let’s start!

You’ll thank yourself at the end of the film when you’re not slumped over in a food coma and you haven’t sacrificed your diet for a few hours at the flicks! Go, you!

Today is the Queen of Pop's birthday, and we have so much to thank her for. A lot of them were crimes against fashion – but without them, we wouldn't have the fond memories of the late '90s/early '00s like we do. Thanks Brit!

Here are the biggest fashion mistakes we made that we can thank her for!

1. When she tricked us into thinking all denim everything was cool.

2. When she tried to make 'good girl pimp' a thing.

3. When we NEEDED her red latex catsuit for Christmas. Thankfully, mom vetoed that one fairly quickly.

4. The curse of the low-rise jean that almost cost us our dignity many times in our early teens

6. Tinted. Sunglasses.

7. All of the times she made us think we would make sexy cowgirls.

8. When we thought we needed a crimper more than we needed air.

9. When we begged and begged for Skechers because Brit wore them.

10. When she made us plan our wedding aged 13 and it looked very…velvety.

It looks like Taylor has a not-so-secret admirer on Twitter, and she seems just as keen by the looks of things!

Although she may have sworn off dating for a while, it would seem that Taylor is having her fun when it comes to flirting with the boys…!

The singer has been seen flirting with 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford over social media this week – and it’s pretty adorable.

The interaction began when Michael tweeted: “I’m so late on the shake it off hype”, to which she replied: “@Michael5SOS Well I was late retweeting you. Call it even?”

In a very “he said, she said” interaction, Taylor later wrote to the boyband member: “@Michael5SOS forgot to mention, congrats on the [award] the other night at the [AMA’s] I was like…”, to which Michael replied with a heart emoji. Taylor then wrote: “If I’m hearing you correctly, what you’re saying is that you’d like to be twitter BFFs. I accept your implied request.”

Taylor was also romantically linked to The 1975 singer Matt Healy, with a photo of her attempting to kiss the star doing the rounds online.

Michael, meanwhile, has found himself being mocked in a song called You Suck by his rumoured ex-girlfriend, Abigail Breslin.

Could this Twitter flirtation be the start of something for Taylor and Michael?

We're used to seeing Taylor Swift look relaxed and pretty in her shoots, but we have to say, she does Beyoncé-esque fierceness fairly well, too!

The singer graces the cover of next's months issue of ASOS magazine, striking a powerful pose in a silver crop top and skirt combo.

Look at those guns!

The spread is titled, "How To Be a Supergirl, by Taylor Swift," and given that the star has just been named Billboard's Woman of 2014, we're more than happy to look to her for some tips.

In true Supergirl style, the Shake It Off singer discusses her desire to work hard to prove herself to those around her. "When you reach a certain level of success, which you inevitably will in your life if you work hard, people become OK with anything you create. Only you will be the one who pushes you and decides what the next level will be," she says.

She also dishes on her much-publicised friendships with the likes of Lorde, Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham. "My friends are the kind of people who have their own lives and their own busy schedules, and that’s why we get along so well," she tells the magazine.

"A lot of 'celebrities' surround themselves with chic cling-ons who don’t have much of a job or a passion. They follow around their celebrity BFF and provide constant affirmation for them. I’m really not interested in that kind of deal."

Sounds like solid advice to us! Thanks SuperTaylor!

If you're looking for a new go-to guide for all your beauty and fashion needs, then look no further than The Fashionista Observer. The lovely Róisín, the face behind the fantastic site, was kind enough to give us a sneak peek into her make-up bag and shared some top tips with us too!

This is a girl who can make up her entire face with just three beauty essentials and knows what lipstick can withstand multiple glasses of wine, so we'd be mad not to listen to what this beauty and fashion-obsessed girl has to say, right?

1. What is your best budget buy?

My best budget buy has to be the age-old Vaseline. With the winter truly setting in, my lips have been living off this stuff. You really can't beat it.

2. What is your top make-up tip?

It's not so much a make-up tip, but I'm a serious preacher of having the perfect brows. About a year ago, I started going to Elysian Brows on South William Street every six to eight weeks and ever since then my whole face has changed. There's not enough to be said for a good brow threading

3. Most girls have a much loved lipstick – what's yours?

For the daytime, mine has to be the simple but timeless Creme Cup by Mac. Then for the evening, you can't beat the Mac lip-pencil in Magenta. It's an incredible pink/purple shade that I use instead of lippy and it stays all night, no matter how many glasses of wine you drink!

4. What was your very first perfume and what are you currently wearing?

When I was a young missy I was obsessed with Fantasy by Britney Spears. I smelt it recently and can't believe I managed to stick the sickly sweet scent, but I think I was ever so slightly sold by the hot pink diamanté bottle! Now I've traded up and can't seem to put down my Jo Malone Blush Suede and Peony. It costs a little bit more than Britney but it's definitely worth it.

5. You’re only allowed to use three make-up products for the rest of your life…what are they?

This is a horribly cruel question, and definitely not something I want to experience, but I'd have to pick my Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze to keep me tanned and double as a foundation.

Mac Please Me lipstick which I'd also double as a cream blusher .

Mac False Flash Mascara in brunette which I would also use as a liquid eyeliner.

Not the best made up face in the world but I'd make it work!

See, what we mean? This is a girl who knows a thing or two, so why not check out her blog for more fantastic advice and reviews!

As if these two needed to get any cuter! In another display of what can only be described as true love, Victoria Beckham shed tears as she accepted an award during the British Fashion Awards last night.

As she took to the stage to accept her award for Brand of the Year, Victoria thanked her husband, saying that he inspires her everyday and sweetly saying: “I adore you”. Pass the tissues please!

David is currently recovering from a car accident in which he and his son Brooklyn were involved. The retired footballer was said to have been left shaken and with an injured shoulder following the crash.

How sweet that he still accompanied his wife to the awards show – we love it!
