Oscar-nominated actress to direct Whitney Houston movie
Angela Bassett will make her directorial début with a movie about Whitney Houston’s life.
The actress is “beyond excited” to direct the singer’s biography – who tragically died in a Beverly Hill’s hotel room in 2012.
Television network Lifetime is creating the movie on the I Will Always Love You singer’s life with ex-husband Bobby Brown and Angela said she ‘fascinated’ by their relationship.
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” the Oscar-nominated actress said.
“Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world,” she added.
The movie’s working title is Whitney Houston and the plot will centre on the iconic singer’s relationship with Bobby, from their first date to the very end of their marriage.
Whitney Houston the film is slated to première early next year.

After Charlie Sheen went off on Rihanna during a fuming Twitter rant yesterday, the pop princess has hit back in a hilarious way!
The Anger Management star called the singer out for being ‘rude’ to his fiancée Brett Rossi at a restaurant on Wednesday night.
Charlie ranted, “Nice impression you left behind, Bday or not. Sorry we’re not KOOL enough to warrant a blessing from the Princess (or in this case the Village idiot).”

Everyone is still talking about Rory McIlroy’s shock decision to call off his wedding to tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki, not long after issuing invites to their upcoming nuptials.
But it could a lot worse for poor Caroline, as one 4fm radio listener revealed on Wednesday night.
Mark spoke about how he could understand Rory’s decision to call off the wedding, as he also decided to leave his bride-to-be. But unlike Rory, he made this decision moments before his actual wedding ceremony took place.
However the conversation took a sudden turn when he was then confronted by the bride’s aunt live on radio.

Caroline breaks her silence on Rory McIlroy split
A little more than 24-hours after Rory McIlroy told the world about his “mutual” breakup with Caroline Wozniacki, the tennis star broke her silence by tweeting to her 614,000 followers.
Golfing star Rory called off the couple’s engagement after admitting to getting cold feet once the ‘save the date’ invites were sent out.

Caroline took to Twitter after the announcement saying, “It’s a hard time for me right now. Thanks for all the sweet messages! Happy I support Liverpool right now because I know I’ll never walk alone”

Caroline also changed her Twitter avatar and bio, removing the word ‘fiancée’ to reflect her changed relationship status.
The couple got engaged on News Year’s eve after three years of dating, and 23-year-old Caroline had been planning a summer wedding to her beau.
It was also reported that Rory would not be asking for the €150,000 engagement ring back.
Although 25-year-old Rory is worth an estimated €30m so it won’t leave him too short!

Should what we eat have the same health rules as cigarettes?
Campaigners have called for the food industry to be given stricter rules – as global obesity is growing at a super fast rate.
The campaigners say that obesity actually poses a greater global risk than cigarettes.
The two organisations – Consumers International and the World Obesity Federation – say governments around the world should impose compulsory rules for the food industry.
These could include pictures on food packaging of damage caused by obesity, similar to those on cigarette packets.
They say new rules could include reducing the levels of salt, saturated fat and sugar in food, improving food served in hospitals and schools, imposing stricter advertising controls, and educating the public about healthy eating.
Governments could review food prices, introduce taxes, change licensing controls and start new research to make this happen, the groups argue.
Advertising to young people during TV programmes such as the X-Factor, must also be restricted, they say.

Zayn Malik proves to be the biggest sweetheart after this
Zayn Malik is on his way to being the best fiancé ever, as the One Direction star not only bought his mother-in-law to be a new house, but he even paid a visit to Perrie Edward’s great-grandmother earlier this week.
Apparently Perrie’s 99-year-old great-grandmother, Jenny Gaston, is a huge fan of Zayn’s and was delighted to meet him in person.
“Zayn is absolutely lovely. It’s the first time I’ve met him and I was thrilled we could meet. He was very nice. We had a nice cup of tea and some sponge cake and he could also see Perrie which was nice.”
Jenny even went onto to talk about how much she loves One Direction and even has a favourite song.
“I love One Direction, my favourite song is ‘Little Things’. I have got all their cds but I didn’t have them with me for Zayn to sign. Him and Perrie are lovely together and I wish them all the luck in the future.”
