Many of us began the year on a health and fitness kick. I say 'us', I don't actually mean ourselves included. Most people are still couch potatoes and the passing of time won't do much to change that.

80 percent of people will have abandoned their New Year's resolutions by February, which is a pretty high statistic.

The only thing that could tempt us to change our deviant ways and embrace the health kick is…luxurious travel destinations. Luckily for you gals, we've discovered the best value deals for your health-focused trips.

Our little Emerald Island is full of stunning landscapes.

So we are delighted to hear that Kerry's Reeks District has been ranked so highly.

In a list published by The Rough Guides travel website, we come in at a very respectable third place.

The Kerry landmark was described by The Rough Guides as "spectacular" and "postcard scenery."

"Drive, walk, hike, climb, bike, kayak or sail around the mountains and lakes of this rugged landscape encircled by the Ring of Kerry," it added.

Canada’s Yukon Territory came in at fourth place, and was described as "true wilderness, where the wildlife outnumbers humans."

Following behind it was Wadi Rum, Jordon.

If you're a Star Wars fan, you may recognise this location from the third Star Wars sequel trilogy (Episode IX) – it was filmed here and we can totally understand why.

In sixth and final position was Alabama in the USA, in July of this year they will be celebrating 50 years since the moon landing.

And you better believe the celebrations will be so VERY extra, as the city has been nicknamed the “Rocket City”.

Whether it's the return of the Coca-Cola Christmas ad or the highly anticipated arrival of the new John Lewis commercial, the festive season wouldn't be the same without an advert that leaves the public sniffling into their sleeves.

And with some of the world's biggest retailers vying for the top spot in the festive feels stake, it's easy to forget about homegrown business and talent… until now.

The Yummy Cafe in Co Kerry has sent social media ablaze this week after releasing a beautifully produced Christmas advert which seeks to communicate the true meaning of the festive season.

Reunite: Christmas is Better Together has stunned Facebook users, with many comparing the production to those created by the retail industry's heavy-hitters.

"Beautifully shot, lovely story, excellent post production! Well done lads! John Lewis eat your heart out!" wrote one member of the public.

Another added: "I am absolutely speechless. That is just fantastic, well done, I assumed it for for a big brand too until I recognised Tralee. Just brilliant."

Take a look at this…

When it comes to public transport there is no doubt that we would all much prefer to take the train rather than the bus.

Better views from the window, more comfortable seats and the option to go to the bathroom if nature calls.

But one big downside to that scenic, spacious journey is the irritating announcement we have to listen to every time we pull away from a station.

You know the one, the automated message that reminds you every 20 minutes that indeed you are still on the same train you got on an hour ago.

Listing every stop along the way in an unbearably monotonous tone, the Irish Rail announcement is the reason they sell headphones at the station shop.

However, one Kerry man has done what we never thought possible; he has made the announcement entertaining.

Comedian Bernard Casey posted the simple video to his Facebook page on Friday and has since been viewed over 110,000 times.

The simple impersonation is probably the funniest thing we’ve seen all day.

Matt LeBlanc appeared on the Graham Norton Show last night to talk about the upcoming series of Top Gear, which will air this Sunday.

And with Graham being from Ireland, of course he had to ask about the infamous hen party that Matt allegedly crashed.

The host started off by asking about the former Friends star's time “back in my neck of the woods, Southern Ireland, West Cork, Kerry," and then showed the gas hen do picture on the big screen.

"Was she just taking a selfie and you literally just drove by?" Graham questioned.

To which Matt replied, "She was with her girlfriend and they were on their way to her hen do, and we were driving up the road and we were at a red light, I think in Dingle, they came over and just took a selfie."

Brilliant. However, Graham did mention that Matt looked particularly happy in the snap.

"She had a very short skirt on," Matt laughed.

Oh, Matt. You chancer.

Now, we know The Lovely Girls competition on Craggy Island was a major hit (even if it wasn't real), and Father Ted loved it also, but there's a new competition running in Kerry, and we think it might be even better.

The Lovely Legs competition has been launched in a shop in Kerry for the run up to Valentine's Day.

And it's not just the ladies entering, nope, the lads are in on this one too.

Men and women are being asked to send in pictures of their legs for the chance of winning €100 and a years supply of tights OR a suit, shirt and tie for the men from East River in Listowel, Kerry.

The men's legs are being judged by Lynn and Fiona O Connor and the ladies legs are being judged by Radio Kerry DJ, Andrew Morrissey.

If you want to apply, you have to be 18-years-old and over. The closing date is this Valentine's Day at 2pm.

So get snapping ladies… and men.

If there's one Christmas tradition we need to partake in, it's the annual Official Office Chair Race, held in Kerry.

It not only sounds like MEGA fun, but it's also for a good cause, with donations being made to St Vincent de Paul.

The crew over at the Tralee Chamber Alliance shut down the whole main street – the weekend before Christmas, we might add – to hold the office chair race in which local businessmen and politicians race in their office chairs. #Standard.

Some popular Kerry faces were among the contestants, including TD's Michael Healy Rae and Martin Ferris.

But Cllr Brassil was disqualified from the competition as he cheated and got someone to push his chair ahead of competitors.

You really can't beat the Irish having the craic!

One major US fashion retailer was busy taking a trip around the Kingdom recently and now we are feeling a serious case of wanderlust overcome us.

A team from J. Crew were recently in Kerry for a fashion shoot for the brand’s latest collection and the images to come from the big day are beautiful.

Seriously, we’re packing our bags for a road trip right now.

Someone hand us our Aran jumpers and beanie hats because we feel the need for a fashionable camping adventure somewhere outside Dingle. The photos were actually taken three months ago, which explains why Storm Abigail didn’t wash away any of the attractive models.

"The weather was wild, it was like 10 seasons in a day," said production director, Tara. "It would be sprinkling rain, then suddenly cold and sunny."

Apparently the team even recruited a few of the local GAA players to appear in a few select shots. Fair play lads, any sample chunky knits to share with us?

As well as showing off the amazing scenery in Kerry, the J. Crew Instagram page also highlights places in the county to visit, and shares a guide to hotels and airports nearby.

"The landscape was so many shades of green. It was like a movie set," said art director Mark.

In a very unsurprising turn of events the production team also appear to have fallen in love with the locals.

"Everyone we met was so laid-back. And the view was just so lush, mossy, ferny, sheep dotted … very dramatic," she said. They were really feeling the love for the furry Kerry crew too it would seem: "Sheep were literally just walking down the middle of the road," Tara said of the experience.

We imagine both the sheep and any Kerry natives are feeling pretty cuffed at the moment.
