If you struggle with the idea of maintaining a monogamous relationship, recent research suggests that your family history may have something to do with it.

According to a study in the Journal of Family Issues, researchers have established a correlation between an individual's propensity to cheat with their parent's history on that front.

The research focussed on parental infidelity, parental marital status, parental conflict, and parental marital satisfaction and theorised that these factors were associated with the likelihood of offspring engaging in infidelity.

The study, which harnessed the lived experience of 294 people, established that if a person's parent cheated on their partner, they were twice as likely to do the same, with 44 per cent of participants who cheated revealing that their parents had also been unfaithful.

"When considered together, parent infidelity and parent satisfaction were uniquely related to offspring infidelity," the study reads.

"Additionally, parental marital status moderated the relationship between parent infidelity and offspring infidelity, as individuals who experienced neither event were particularly unlikely to have ever engaged in infidelity."

"Our research indicates that parental infidelity sends memorable messages to children about the greater acceptability of infidelity and these communications are internalised." Dana Weiser of Texas University explains.

She added: "We find that parent infidelity is associated with an individual’s own infidelity."

Airbrushing and A-listers go hand in hand, right? You show up, you pose, and you get digitally enhanced. Job done.

But while the photoshopping process generally involves paring inches of a star's waist and thighs, the latest example is slightly off-course.

After posing for the cover of Vanity Fair, Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey realised they had been gifted some extra appendages.

And they weren't the only ones to notice either.

Taking to Twitter, members of the public questioned why Reese was sporting an extra leg on the cover and why Oprah was rocking an extra hand in a supposedly candid shot from the shoot.

"Im tryna figure out how many legs reese witherspoon’s got in here, it’s been bothering me for the last five minutes," wrote one Twitter user who actually got a response from the Big Little Lies star.

"Well…I guess everybody knows now…I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am and I will never apologize for snuggling @Oprah."

"If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend it," Reese added as the public began a search for other photoshop fails.

Responding to Reese, Oprah replied: "I accept your third leg. As I know you accept my third hand."

Ladies, that's how you do it

A poll which was conducted at the beginning of the week has established that Leo Varadkar is the most popular Taoiseach since Bertie Aherne.

Varadkar, who took the post in June of last year, is said to have gone up seven points in The Irish Times /Ipsos MRBI poll, securing him a 60 per cent approval rating.

The news may come as a surprise to anyone who was left stunned by Varadkar's recent remarks during a discussion on the Rebuilding Ireland Home Loan Scheme when he appeared to suggest that those attempting to get on the property ladder should seek financial assistance from their parents or move abroad in order to save.

"It has always been the case that a person needs to raise a deposit to buy a house,” he said. “People do it in many different ways. Sometimes people go abroad for a period and earn money. Others get money from their parents. Lots of us did."

The poll, which harnessed the opinions of 1,200 voters, also established that satisfaction with the Government has risen by three points, securing a 44 per cent approval rating.

According to a NewsTalk report, 2007 was the last time an Irish leader held as popular a position with the general public.

A number of women’s rights groups have sued the Trump administration for introducing policies that they believe violate the rights of sexual assault survivors.

In particular, the groups believe that women who are the victims of sexual assault on college campuses are targeted by the legislation.

During the Obama era, campus sexual assault guidances were a part of a policy known as Title IX of the Education Amendments, which protect against gender discrimination in education.

The title says that colleges must have procedures in place to deal with allegations of sexual assault and rape.

Trump's Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced intentions to reform the title in September 2017,

'One rape is one too many. One assault is one too many. One person denied due process is one too many, ' she said at the time.

'If everything is harassment, then nothing is.'

DeVos repealed the recommendation that universities resolve sexual assault claims within 60 days. She also made the standard of evidence required stricter.

The removal of these guidelines from the bill is what has led to the Department being sued by groups The Victims Rights Law Centre, Equal Rights Advocates, and SurvJustice.

'We’ve seen a silencing effect in the most critical time of year, which is the fall,' SurvJustice founder Laura Dunn told The Independent.

Dunn refers to a time known as the red zone, when sexual assault reports are at an all-time high.

A post shared by SurvJustice (@survjusticeinc) on

This year, there was a decrease in reports, but Dunn feels that this is due to the revoked Title, meaning that there are less reported assaults, rather than less assaults.

'We definitely saw a detrimental effect and we know why,' Dunn told The Independent.

'It was the intent of the Trump administration to curtail survivors.'

Valentine’s Day is only a matter of weeks away, and we’re sure many proposals have been prepared for the romantic day.

However, for those of you who plan on jetting off with your other half, there is one thing that may ruin the special moment- airport security.

You don't want your partner to see the ring prematurely when your bags are searched at the airport, it'd completely ruin the proposal.

Luckily, one airport in the United Kingdom has your back. They have invented a secret code for those lovebirds who want to sneak the ring past their other half.

The East Midland Airport has informed couples that all you have to do is contact them to get the special code.

When you’re passing through airport security the staff will send you to a special lane, away from your other half, so you can keep the ring out of their view.

'It would put a big damper on someone’s meticulously planned romantic trip if their big surprise was revealed even before they’ve boarded the plane,' said East Midlands Airport’s Head of Security, Matthew Quinney.

He joked, 'Arguably, there are more romantic places to be proposed to than in our security hall.'

The team hope this new code will make their customers feel more reassured.

'Out of courtesy to those who have been planning this moment for weeks or months, we have put in measures to ensure we’re not the cause of failed marriage proposals.'

'After all, we want customers to return again and again,' shared Matthew.

This new code will certainly make people feel a tad less nervous about popping the question.

In the wake of Oprah Winfrey's spine tingling speech at the Golden Globes, many speculated that the iconic talk-show host might run for US presidency in 2020.

The speculations were met by mass excitement, as many felt that if a reality-TV host and business mogul could make it to the White House, then why not Oprah?

However, Oprah herself has now chimed in on the matter, and has said that she has no intention to join the campaign trail.

'I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not,' she told InStyle.

'And so it’s not something that interests me.'

'I don’t have the DNA for it' she finished.

Oprah's words reflect current POTUS Donald Trump's thoughts on the matter.

While he said that Oprah would be a 'fun' campaign adversary, he also said: 'I don’t think she’s going to run.'

So we guess he just has Kanye West to worry about in 2020 them.

Men in France could be fined as much as €90.00 for harassing women in the street.

Men who make 'loud and lewd comments' about women, follow them in the street or block their path could be fined under a new bill targeting street harassment.

The bill was put forward as part of a proposal focussing on street harassment and sexual violence, and seeks to eventually make the former a criminal offence.

Commenting on the move, Gender Equality Minister Marlene Schiappa highlights women's vulnerability and their lack of protection in the eyes of the law.

'It's completely necessary because at the moment street harassment is not defined in the law,' she told French radio RTL.

'At the moment, one can’t file a lawsuit for street harassment.'

The Minister hopes that the fining process will tackle the 'gray zone between consented seduction and sexual aggression,' according to French paper Le Croix.

Previously, it was reported that wolf-whistling would be included under this bill.

The report does not recommend that wolf-whistlers be fined.

While we will miss the bemusement of witnessing confused tourists trekking the streets in search of a drink during their Easter trip to Ireland, we're thrilled to say that pubs will be open in Ireland this Good Friday.

The Dáil has today passed legislation to allow pubs to serve alcohol on Good Friday.

The legislation will be signed into law in time for this Easter, so we're sure pubs can expect a roaring trade.

'Tourism makes a much greater contribution to our economy and this is particularly true during holidays, such as the busy Easter period,' Minister of State David Stanton told RTE.

'In addition changing demographics and increasing diversity in our population have led to a reduction in traditional religious practice.'

'Taking all these factors into consideration the Government considered that it was an opportune time to have an examination of the Good Friday restrictions.'

The law banning the sale of alcohol has been in place Ireland for over 90 years.

So, no more stocking up on drink for the house on the Thursday.
