In case you hadn't looked outside yet, the weather is an absolute abomination today, and unfortunately it is likely to remain that way this week.

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow weather warning, with most of the country set to be affected by severe winds, persistent rain and possibly even sleet.

Storm Doris is battering the country with high winds and showers.

"Southwest winds of mean speeds 50 to 65km/h will develop giving gusts of 90 to 110km/h," says Met Éireann.

"Winds will veer northwesterly later in the night. Winds will be strongest in coastal counties."

"Some severe winds expected later Wednesday night and on Thursday morning, in association with storm Doris," says Met Éireann.

The weather warning is currently in place and will not be lifted until Thursday.

Just before Christmas, The Apollo House office buildings in Dublin were occupied by nearly 90 homeless people.

The NAMA building provided food and shelter to those in need during the Christmas period, with people from all walks of life coming across the country to help out.

And with all of the occupiers being housed elsewhere, you could say that Ireland really came together to support these people.

Now, TV3 are set to air a special documentary about exactly what happened inside that building.

Inside Apollo House – The Untold Story will air this Thursday, February 23, and will tell the inside story of how a group of people took over the office block and turned it into a shelter for those in need.

It will also feature candid interviews with key players such as Glen Hansard and Jim Sheridan.

Inside Apollo House – The Untold Story will air on TV3, this Thursday at 10pm.

The judge also ordered Chris to surrender his firearms until his court hearing on March 9, where a restraining order will be confirmed and put in place.

According to TMZ, the Kiss Kiss singer has repeatedly threatened his ex-girlfriend since December through various messaging apps and friends.

Chris previously had a restraining order put in place by his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, after he physically assaulted her before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Ah, the Irish Mammy.

While we wished they would stop bugging us about our dirty rooms when we were growing up, we now have a deep love for them and their old Irish sayings.

Because, let's be real – they ALL say the same thing.

That's what this Co. Clare Snapchatter honed in on in his latest video, where he talked his fans through the phrases we hear errr'day.

Some of the most popular included, "That's it, where's the wooden spoon," "Did you hear who died last night," and "Did you turn off the immersion?"

Basically, Patrick just covered every sentence that was uttered shouted to us as kids.

So, there's going to be an Irish gin and cheese festival happening THIS May – and we are probably a lot more excited then we should be.

To celebrate some of Ireland's best gins and cheeses, the Burren Slow Food Festival, which will take place on 12th, 13th and 14th May 2017, will bring together food producers, chefs and writers for a weekend of talks, demonstrations and workshops.

And the best part?

There will be a huge showcasing of the best of Irish gin including Blackwater Gin, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, Dingle Gin and Shortcross Gin.

Dublin’s leading mixologist Oisin Davies will also be there making unique cocktails with wild and foraged ingredients.

For the first time, Ireland’s raw milk cheese presidium will be at the event, hosting workshops and tastings of raw milk cheese, many of which are not widely available nationwide.

The presidium, which is made up of eleven artisan dairies work with their own distinctive style and techniques and share a common commitment to producing a safe, high-quality product using raw milk from their own cows or goats, or milk from nearby herds.

The three-day event will also include a farmers' market, foraging, children’s activities, the traditional Burren Slow Food Banquet as well as a champagne and seafood picnic in a boat under the Cliffs of Moher.

With Obama and Biden setting the bar high for bromances, last week Ashton Kutcher and John McCain followed suit with their love for each other.

But now, there's two new guys in town that are literally gushing over each other on social media.

It all started when the king of documentaries, Louis Theroux tweeted a picture of an interview with Stormzy, where he was wearing a t-shirt with Louis' face on it.

Louis wrote: "So honoured to see this! Great interview too."

When the grime artist saw Mr Theroux's tweet, he responded and said, "thanks Louis you are a true legend (sic) I respect you HIGHLY! Thank you."

But, it was actually a few days earlier when the Twitter exchanges began. Louis tweeted a picture of him and director John Dower at the NME Awards, to which Stormzy wrote to him and said, "you are the GOAT."

Don't worry, he didn't mean Louis is like a farm animal, but rather the Greatest Of All Time.

These guys…

We were literally gagging while reading about this because it is so unbelievably ridiculous and pointless… not to mention disgusting.

Across the pond in Kansas, USA, a man, who has never experienced a period, thinks that glueing your vagina together is a good idea.

Why? So blood doesn't escape when you're on your period.

This guy must think periods resemble a scene from The Walking Dead, because God forbid any blood leak. Gasp! Shock horror! Ugh…

According to Metro, chiropractor, Daniel Dopps, shared a post on Facebook explaining how this lipstick glue is a safer option if we want to control our periods…

A man has created a lipstick to glue vagina lips together so period blood can't escape anymore

Stating how "natural" it is, the Facebook post reads: "Mensez is a natural combination that is applied to the lips downunder during the period."

Another Facebook post about the lipstick tries to compare periods to hair in a shower drain.

"Humans like things to be in their place and when they are displaced we perceive it as gross, nasty and unhealthy. We all love our hair until it gets out of its place and in the shower drain.

It goes on… "Mensez ends period mind games, the blood stays secure inside where it should be."

"You don't have to see it anymore and you certainly don't have to touch it anymore… Like a self-cleaning shower drain."

A self-cleaning shower drain. Great.

We think we'll stick to tampons, thanks (even if that does mean seeing blood… shocker).

When you finish school, college or an internship, it can be terribly frustrating when it seems like nothing is moving and no employer wants you.

*Cue feelings of disappointment and inadequacy*

You think you have the experience, right? So, why are you getting zero responses from your chosen employers?

Even if you think you might be doing everything perfectly, it turns out that many of us can slip up on a few simple aspects.

Writing for the Huffington Post, Nancy Laws, who has been in the recruiting game for years, writes, “Moving from one interview to the next without a positive response can be frustrating, but the problem, no matter how much it may suck, might be with you.”

So, to avoid these pitfalls, here are five pieces of advice on how to get your foot in the door:

Be honest

Image result for cv

This is rule numero uno. While researching this piece, nearly every recruiter said that they were shocked by how many people lie on their CV.

From putting down job titles that they never had to internships they never completed, nobody is going to hire a dishonest person.

One business manager told HP, “The moment I realise that an applicant has been dishonest, I simply move on. What’s the point of trusting a dishonest person?”

Be qualified

By applying for a job you’re not qualified for, you’re not only wasting your own time, but the employer’s time too – and that will leave a bad taste in their mouths.

It pays to acknowledge your qualifications and whether or not these are fit for the job you are applying for as a company’s hiring process is a strenuous one. The human resources department will require you to present your qualifications for the job you are applying for, this in itself is a profession worthy to take note of and you might even consider taking a human resources mba if this is in line with your preferred career path.

“Applying for a Sales and Accounts Manager position, with a background in childcare is a bit over ambitious and slightly annoying,” says the HP’s career guru.

In other words, be smart about what job you apply for.

Be enthusiastic

We know that going for an interview can be stressful and in some cases, you just turn into an overflowing bag of nerves, but failing to show enthusiasm for the job is not a great way to make a first impression.

Acknowledge your nerves but don’t let them stop you from communicating your passion for the job. “How you speak, how you enter the room, and how comfortable you look are really important,” says John Lees, a career strategist for the Harvard Business Review.

If you’re excited in the interview, the employer will leave feeling good about you.

Remember, you’re worthy

Image result for woman at work

This is one thing that hinders most people when applying for a job. You might be the best candidate for it, but then you enter the interview and downplay your achievements, or don’t communicate them properly.

“If your past achievements are not directly related to the job, but you’ve demonstrated a great ability to learn and adapt to new situations, you should very clearly articulate that,” says John.

Employers want to know how valuable you are to their company, so learn how to communicate your best assets; it’ll bring you and your employer closer to understanding each other.

Dress appropriately

Now, we’re not saying you need to don your best Hilary trouser suit to every interview, but know what is appropriate and, well… what’s not.

We’re told by Nancy Laws, “The way you choose to dress for an interview is a reflection of the value that you will bring to the position, and a reflection of how you value yourself.”

Going to an interview dressed in the latest NYFW trend might not impress a banker, but if you’re being interviewed for a quirky fashion magazine, then work away.

Now, go in and knock ’em dead.

Under current legislation, having or assisting a woman with an abortion in Ireland is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

Challenging that before the Dáil next month, People Before Profit, who have previously pushed for the decriminalisation of abortions, are seeking to introduce a bill which, instead, imposes a €1 fine.

Commenting on the proposed legislation at a press conference in the capital, Bríd Smith insisted that the €1 fine acted as “a serious attempt to decriminalise abortion in the State and since we have been prevented from doing it outright.”

The party’s previous attempt was hindered after it was considered unconstitutional under the Eight Amendment.

Acknowledging that the bill is likely to face opposition in the Dáil, Bríd reasoned that the proposed legislation will force TDs to either support the 14-year penalty or propose an alternative ‘punishment’.

According to The Irish Times, abortion activist, Ailbhe Smyth, maintains that Ireland is under strict instruction from the United Nations to 'introduce less punitive abortion legislation'.

You have to hand it to the mothers among us, they put up with some serious sh*t from the likes of us who treat our family home like a hotel, and leave the immersion on without so much as a fleeting thought for their sanity.

And it looks like one kid's mam has officially had enough.

Taking to Twitter to illustrate the lengths his mother went to to prove a point recently, Connor Cox, a college kid in the States, shared a snap of a package his mother sent him.

And it was nothing but a big pile of rubbish which Conor had left behind him after hightailing it back to his college dorm.

"Thought my mom was sending me a care package… but instead she sent me a box of trash I was supposed to take out," Conor wrote in the post which has gone viral since its upload in recent weeks.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, Connor's mam said: "His room should be left the way it was when he came home for Christmas break, which I cleaned before he came home."

"I have raised and taught Connor better than this, and his actions deserve consequences – even if they are humorous," she added.

And by the sounds of things, countless Twitter users are with Connor's mam on this one.

"I dumped garbage on my son's bed for "forgetting" to take it out. He remembered every day after that. Garbage at top of list," remarked one commentator beneath the post.

Well, that's us told.

We're big fans of Pippa O'Connor's coveted denim collection, POCO by Pippa.

So imagine our excitement when the top Irish model announced that she will be hosting another pop-up shop for her denim wares in Dundrum Town Centre.

A post shared by POCO By Pippa (@pocobypippa) on

Pippa's jeans have previously only been available online, and after hosting some seriously successful weekend pop-ups, the model is opting for something a little more long term.

The latest pop-up will open shop on March 10, and will run for a period of six weeks, so there's plenty of time to get your favourite pair in every hue.

A post shared by POCO By Pippa (@pocobypippa) on

There are also new styles being added to the line in mid-March, so getting a glimpse of the latest styles is no longer an online endeavour

"I’m really excited to open a POCO by Pippa pop-up in Dundrum Town Centre," said the denim designer.

"We have had amazing feedback from customers and women all over Ireland, and we know a lot of women while shop online love to try on jeans, so this is a great opportunity for POCO by Pippa to be available in a stand-alone store in one of Ireland’s leading shopping centres.

"I personally love to meet customers and hear their stories and the pop-up is the perfect place to meet them.” she said.

Pippa herself will be hosting style clinics in the pop-up, so any fans of the model's style will be able to get personal pointers.
