Congratulations are in order for Lottie Ryan – she's officially a newlywed!

The daughter of the late Gerry Ryan tied the knot to Fabio Aprile over the weekend, and kept the whole even a secret until this morning.

Announcing the good news on 2FM, Lottie was asked about her weekend, to which she replied, "yeah, I got married!"

She told the Breakfast Republic crew, "I'm a dark horse, I'm a sneaky thing I am.

"It was awesome, really good fun. Just my family and just his family. We had a ball, it was great."

The brunette beauty plans to have a bigger ceremony in Italy later this year, but chose to wed in an intimate Irish registry service this weekend.

We're delighted for her and Fabio!

If you're travelling home on the Luas this afternoon, you may be in for some delays.

The transport company has confirmed that some stops on the green line are out of use due to an ill passenger.

Stops between Milltown and Stephen's Green have been disrupted and Luas are urging passengers to be aware that they could face disruptions for up to 30 minutes.

However, Dublin Bus is issuing any valid Luas tickets during the delay.

Zoe Carol Wong is the creative force behind the fashion brand Zoe Carol.

With stockists including the likes of the Kilkenny Shop and Só Collective, it's safe to say you've seen her designs around the place.

The designer has been in the game for years, but last week, she saw the "ugly side of fashion."

The Galway-native was sent a photo last week of a top in Penneys that looked extremely like one of her pieces from her SS16 collection.

Both blouses included a collar, no sleeves and a very similar bird design:

Zoe took to Instagram shortly after receiving the photo and wrote that she felt "cheated and flattered" at the same time.

"Can you spot the difference? Our lovely stockist @grainnemahervault in Belfast sent me a snap that she captured in @penneyseire this week in Belfast.

"That's our Nankin blouse from SS16 collection 'Marguerite in Paris' on the left. On the right is the #penneys version.

"I feel cheated and flattered all at the same time. Well played, Penneys, well played."

However, Zoe didn't stop there. She then wrote an open letter to the store on her blog, where she explained how sometimes life is just unfair.

"This isn’t a rant where I go on about how hard I work, my design process or even the fact that I feel somewhat robbed.

"The fact of the matter is, life is unfair. My design was open and free to the public and open to interpretation by anyone who saw fit. There’s no law against what you did and there’s no law to protect designers and makers.

"It’s not pretty and today was another day I saw the ugly side of fashion."

She continued to say that this incident has only made her more determined going forward.

A post shared by Contemporary Womenswear (@zoecarol) on

"Despite this clear robbery of intellectual property, I don’t feel bad. I feel more determined to create and design things that people of all incomes want to buy. Not everyone could afford my collections. That’s ok.

"If you’re paying less than €20 for your blouse, it’s more than likely because they cut out the cost of paying a designer on top of other things (inexpensive fabric bought in bulk, low labour costs in developing countries and large manufacturing quantities).

"None of this is new to me but it’s always shocking when it happens to me rather than some cool designer in Brooklyn who’s in a lawsuit battle against Urban Outfitters and I’ve read about on Buzzfeed.

"Moral of the story? F*CK YOU PENNEYS but also you do you Penneys because this is life and life’s not fair."

A post shared by Contemporary Womenswear (@zoecarol) on

Primark has since replied to the claims, saying: "Primark’s team of designers take great pride in bringing its customers the latest trends at affordable prices.

"The Primark buyers responsible for commissioning and developing the product in question were not familiar with Ms Wong’s company, or with its designs, and at no time took inspiration from them."

Ah, the Camino de Santiago; most of you will have either done it, heard of it, or aspire to complete it, right?

Traditionally beginning in France and ending at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia northwestern Spain, this 800km walk is undertaken by hundreds of thousands of walkers and cyclists each year.

And while it's easily one of the most awe-inspiring trips you could embark on, it's also one which requires a whole lot of preparation.

As someone who has completed the first 300km of it (and has every intention of finishing it… some day), I lost count of the amount of things I learned along the way, and wished I had known sooner.

With that in mind, here are just 11 things you need to know if you plan to pilgrim it up.

1. You will become obsessed with the quality of your socks.

People bang on about hiking boots before they head off, but only true pilgrims will know that it all comes down to the socks you wear.

Investing in socks made for hiking is ESSENTIAL if you don't want to spend your entire trip limping in agony while your fellow pilgrims, who splashed the extra cash on purpose-built socks, stride ahead without a care.

Purchasing two or three pairs of walking socks is the first thing you need to do if you're even THINKING of getting your Camino on.

   1000 mile All Terrain Sock

2. You will rub Vaseline on your feet in front of strangers.

Completing the Camino with relative ease means you need to know ALL the tips and tricks to protect your feet from blisters and cuts.

And that's where Vaseline comes in.

Coating your feet in Vaseline before slipping into your socks each morning will protect them, and give you a serious sense of satisfaction when you know you're setting off on that day's hike.

3. You will lust after people with plastic cutlery

Keeping your rucksack light is the name of the game from the get-go, but that should never mean sacrificing useful items in order to facilitate lighter, less important items.

With that in mind, it's important to carry items which may not be readily available when you're snacking on the go during your walk, and that means carrying a handy cutlery set.

While there are pit stops along the way, they may not provide you with cutlery, and hacking at a block of cheese with a set of keys is not how you want to spend your break-time.

4. You will not care what you look like.

I'll be honest, the thought of going a fortnight without a hairdryer, straightener or makeup bag left me feeling a little cold, but within 12 hours of walking, I completely stopped caring what I looked like.

When you're walking, all you care about are the views and the destination. And when you arrive all you care about is a hot shower, good food and clean bed.

Anything else is completely and utterly inconsequential – believe me.

5. You will be more than happy with just two sets of clothes

The idea of alternating between just two sets of clothes for a fortnight (or longer) sounds rank, but it's the only way to go if you want to ensure a light pack.

The vast majority of hostels you stay at will have laundry facilities, so lugging anything more with you will seem pretty foolhardy when you have the option to rinse and dry your clothes most evenings.

You will get into a routine with your clothes pretty quickly, and won't think twice about your supposed 'lack' of outfits.

6. You will want to start early…

You may not be an early riser by nature, but on the Camino, you'll find yourself setting off between 6am and 8am most mornings.

Pilgrims tend to make the most of the mornings, so they can make the most of the evenings in their new destination.

And trying to sleep through a dorm of hikers getting ready for eight hours of walking isn't the easiest, so follow suit and get started around sun-up.

7. …but not too early…

Don't make the mistake of starting so early, you're walking in the dark for a prolonged period of time.

While it might seem tempting to get a jumpstart on the day, there is nothing relaxing about hiking an isolated stretch of the route in the pitch dark with only the sound of your heartbeat to keep you company.

Safety is your absolute priority at all points on the route, so always walk in pairs or with a group, and never, ever diverge from the track.

8. You will realise you can send your rucksack ahead each day

You may intend to walk the entire route with bag on back, but sometimes life intervenes, and you decide that you're going to send your bag ahead each day.

When I realised my rucksack was considerably larger than others, and didn't fit my frame thereby causing considerable discomfort, I decided to make use of the transport service, and instantly felt better.

Do anything you can to make the hike easy on yourself, and don't feel obliged to do anything that causes pain or anxiety just because other people have done it.

9. You will surprise yourself

Whether it's your determination, motivation, or ability to overlook the little things, the Camino will test you, and ultimately remind you that you're made of pretty stern stuff.

It's a trip like no other, and in turn, will provide you with a sense of accomplishment few other trips can do.

10. It will be hard

Chances are you will have at least one day which you will remember with a pang of horror.

Mine was the first day when we made our way across the Pyrenees; I had no concept of distance, my rucksack hurt like hell and I questioned why I ever got myself involved in the first place.

But that period of anguish gave way to the kindness and advice of other pilgrims, and ultimately provided me with the tips and tricks needed to navigate the rest of the journey with ease.

11. But it will also be unforgettable

There's a reason millions of people have taken time out of their lives to walk miles across France and Spain, and you only truly get it when you do it yourself.

Whether its about taking stock, finding yourself, testing your limits or taking time out of the rat race, the Camino can be whatever you want it to be.

And forgettable, it is not.

Ah, another day, another person telling us we're doing things wrong.

And in this case, we're all apparently making tea wrong.

The cheek of someone telling us Irish how to make tea… pfft.

I know it's a completely frivolous thing, but it really grinds my gears.

Person Holding Silver Pitcher

We're living in an age where people have the tools (hello, Internet) to voice their numerous opinions, and while this can be a fantastic thing, it also lends itself to utter sh*te.

Twitter users, who have no beauty expertise, are telling us how to wash our hair, and Instagram fans are giving out to mothers who give their kids a peck on the cheek – and it comes to a point when it's just so tiring and ridiculous.

And the latest in a long line of 'experts' is William Gorman, of the UK's Tea and Infusions Association, who has come out today to say that we're all ruining our beverages by reboiling the water.

He obviously hasn't heard of the water charges over here in Ireland…

But in all honestly, 1) we probably knew this in the first place and 2) do we really care?

William told The Telegraph: "Usually when people’s tea goes cold they reboil the kettle and make another cup. But doing this you are guaranteed to give yourself a dull cup of tea.

"You need freshly drawn water for a good cup because reboiling it takes out all the oxygen and nitrogen out of it."

When Cosmo commented on Will's views, they quipped "WHO KNEW," but we're giving the right old stance of 'who gives a f*ck'.

So, from now on, we're going to stop listening to all these 'experts' telling us that we're living our lives wrong, because guess what? We're going to live our lives the way we want to.

#RantOver… I'm going to reboil the kettle.

We love hearing about new makeup and cosmetic gadgets, especially when they're Irish – #Nationalpride.

Anyway, with that in mind, we wanted to introduce you to Powder 'n' Pout Cosmetics – a fantastic brand that we have just discovered.

Located in the heart of Donegal is a hair and makeup salon with a delightful Alice in Wonderland theme called Powder 'n' Pout, owned by the fantastic Aisling Cunningham.

As a creative and extremely talented makeup artist, Aisling has tried and tested pretty much every brush brand on the planet, and realised that there was a gap in the market for brushes that were high in quality and affordable.

And so, Powder 'n' Pout Cosmetics was born – and we couldn't be more delighted.

Aisling believes that the right makeup tools are just as important as your choice of makeup, and this belief is truly reflected in her amazing products.

Every Powder 'n' Pout brush represents a brand that delivers high quality, longevity and affordability to all makeup users – plus, they look fantastic, too.

The brand offers a wide range of individual brushes that would give anyone that coveted flawless skin, with prices starting at just €6, which is extremely reasonable for such high quality products.

Our personal favourite item on offer is the flat contour brush, which will make you look like the superstar you know you are.

Powder 'n' Pout also offer fantastic brush sets, that are such excellent value for money!

All in all, this brand is amazing, and Irish – which is always a nice touch for us.

Whether you are living paycheck to pay cheque, or you just like a little bit extra in your life, having a side project to make a birra money from is a great thing to do.

Great, but it can be difficult.

You won't be able to just pick up a hobby and instantly make cash from it. You'll will need to work out time management, demands, connections, and have a whole lotta ambition.

Working in a group

That said, it's not unattainable. If you feel like a little bit of side hustle could help you make rent each month, or buy you a few Topshop goodies, here are tips on how to make money out of a hobby:

1. DIY

Right, so you've just finished your degree and can't seem to find a job that fits in perfectly with what you want to do in your life.

This can be a tricky time because you have options, but you just don't know what one to choose.

Samantha Matt told The Financial Diet that this is how she began making her side hobby into work, which now brings in 50 per cent of her total income.

She wanted to be a TV writer, but couldn't find a job in that field. So, she found a position that was related to her degree, and then blogged on the side.

Blogs can be a bit saturated right now, but if you have an idea that is totally outside of the box, go with it and see if you can monetise it in the future.

However, if tech is not your thing and your hobby is more on the creative side, there are still endless possibilities.

For example, Kelly Ging of Kelly Lou Cakes began baking cakes at home and sold them out of her parent's hardware store in Co. Laois. She grew her business into selling a few on the side, to 100 a week and now hundreds upon hundreds every month.

So, plan how your hobby can make you some extra cash, see if there is a demand for it, work on it in your spare time, and then reap in the rewards.

adult, book, business

2. Time management

This will come in handy in every aspect of your life.

If you're serious about making some money out of a side project, unfortunately it can't just be a bit of work here and there. You need a routine and you need to stick to it.

If that means taking two hours out each evening to concentrate on it, then so be it. Nobody said it was going to be easy.

However, if you have your time management down to a T, and stick to it, everything will be easier.

You won't burn yourself out and you will still have time to see your friends and family.

It's so important to stick to your set times, because if you put aside two hours for side hustle, but end up doing four, you'll no doubt end up grumpy and frustrated at the end of the night.

Discipline yourself, but be strict when it comes to your time off, too. As Jax Jones says, "Time is money so don't f*ck with mine."

Don't f*ck with your time, ladies.

3. Make connections

Whether you work in finance and your side hustle is painting or you have a job in content creation and your side hustle is making jewellery, you can never have too many connections in BOTH fields.

Even if your chosen industries are world's apart, you are bound to have people that work in both or that can help you out in one or the other.

Meet as many people as you can that could help your business – make connections through emails, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Between writers, bloggers, accountants, PRs, and marketing professionals, everyone is important.

But, you'll need to be brave. Go to events, introduce yourself, make your name (and side hustle) known and be polite to everyone.

Roisin Hogan went from being an accountant to creating her own healthy food business, Hiro by Roisin. She knew what connections meant in the industry when she started out and she took every opinion on board.

It just shows that your chosen side hustle doesn't have to be in line to what your job is now. And by making these connections in every field, you'll get your new venture out there.

The more people talk about it, the more they'll know about it and the more they'll want it.

4. It's not everything

Your work is not your life, and your side hustle is not your life, either. If you feel like your burning yourself out, take a step back and relax.

You also need to remember that if your side hustle doesn't work out, it's not the end of the world.

Even if you really want that little bit of wiggle room at the end of each month, working non-stop is not healthy, and you could end up hating your hobby.

Ambition leads to big things and you deserve to do what makes you happy, but remember that you do have options.

If you feel like you're stuck in a rut, or in a financial black hole, there are ways out. Talk to family, friends, your connections (they're really important) and see what you can do.

Your money-making hobby is supposed to be fun and it's supposed to take a bit of pressure off you – so don't let it do the opposite.

beach, bonfire, community

But as with anything in life, explore your options, find your strengths, and take time to work out what makes you happy.

As sappy as it sounds, you'll never know what a side hobby could lead to, or what you could learn about yourself from it.

The clocks went forward on Saturday night which means millions of us have had a vague feeling of jet lag since yesterday.

However, for many women in Ireland, that feeling is all too familiar, and not given the attention it deserves.

Existing on six hours sleep, putting in long days at the office and attempting to maintain a social life takes its toll on our bodies, and we just need to accept exhaustion as a side effect, right?

Wrong.

All too often, women ignore symptoms of iron deficiency because they assume feeling tired and run-down is part and parcel of today’s hectic lifestyle.

Iron is vital when it comes to maintaining energy levels and boosting the immune system, so when you’re lacking in it, you automatically begin feeling tired and lethargic.

So, why don’t more women address the issue head-on?

Well, many of us fall into the trap of assuming that we’re on top form because we eat well, work-out regularly and get enough sleep, but it’s important to remember that various elements can have an impact on our iron stores.

“There are many life stages for women where iron levels become a watchpoint, such as at puberty, hormonal changes and during menstruation.  Even fitness regimes and changing your diet can impact iron stores,” explains Dr Eva Orsmond.

And that’s where Blueiron comes in.

A cult product in its native Finland, Blueiron, made with fresh mineral water and rich in immune-boosting vitamin C, is a liquid iron supplement which increases a person’s iron levels.

Unlike many traditional iron supplements, Blueiron is gentle on the digestive system resulting in fewer of the side effects most commonly associated with iron supplements, such as constipation or abdominal pain.

So, if you spent much of your day feeling like you're treading through treacle, it might be time for a burst of blueberries…

From the moment you begin making friends, you quickly learn that some people will always need to one-up you when it comes to concerns, anecdotes or real-life experiences.

If you went to the States on your summer holiday, they went to the moon.

If you broke your arm, they broke their their leg.

And if you have a whopper of a story to share it with the squad, you can be damn sure they'll be hovering in the wings just waiting to swoop in with a bigger and better tale.

Tapping into this toe-curling trait in a recent video, Jen Hatton and Emma Doran gave us a play by play on how those excrutciating exchanges with these people tend to pan out.

And if no one springs to mind, then it might be because you're the guilty one…

If you spent last night tossing and turning, and woke up this morning looking like you'd been on a three-day bender, you're not alone.

While we love the idea of longer evenings and brighter days, the clocks going forward on Saturday night brought with it a whole world of pain as we adjusted to the change, and ultimately found ourselves trundling around in a sleep-deprived fog for most of this morning.

It might have only been 60 minutes, but hell we really needed every one of them.

And so did these people by the sound of things.
