If you're currently the proud owner of tickets to Emeli Sande's upcoming Cork gig, you may want to sit down before reading on.

It has been confirmed that the Scottish singer, who was due to be supported by Stephanie Rainey, has cancelled her July 10 gig.

The 30-year-old, who was set to perform at Live at the Marquee, has not yet offered an explanation for the unprecedented cancellation, but a representative for Aiken Promotions confirmed the news while speaking to RedFM earlier today.

"Further details have not yet been made available, however, the event has been listed as 'cancelled' on Ticketmaster's website," they explained.

It has been established that refunds will be available from point of purchase.

With Radiohead and Coldplay having already sent Irish music fans into a tailspin this year, we didn't know how much more hysteria we could take when it came to upcoming gigs in our capital city.

And then Bruno Mars and Emeli Sandé announced they would be both taking to the stage in Dublin next year… and all bets were off.

While we'd love to say they were collaborating, unfortunately that's not the case, but hey maybe next time.

Emeli will be playing the Olympia Theatre on March 18 next year while Bruno will be hitting up Dublin's 3Arena on April 29.

If Emeli is your bag, you need to bring your A-game this Friday morning when tickets go on sale, but if Bruno swings it for you, then prime yourself for next Monday morning when you and countless others will be vying for a place in Bruno's audience.

Is it normal to feel stressed and excited in equal measure?!

When part-time singer Lorraine O’Reilly took to the stage recently to play a mixture of cover songs and her own original material, she found herself suddenly taken aback: for sitting in the audience mere metres away was one of the artists whose songs she was due to perform.

Emeli Sande has sold millions of records and has a No.1 album in Our Version Of Events. One of her biggest hits is undoubtedly Read All About It – a song that Co. Cavan-native Lorraine had lined up as part of her set at the Old Windsor Working Men’s Club near London last Friday.

She told 2fm’s Breakfast Republic this morning that Emeli caught her eye as soon as she walked in the door. “Not everyone might recognise her but I did immediately.”

She also explained that the superstar singer was seated only about 3metres away from the stage. Worse still, Lorraine had to get through a full 45minutes of material before she came to Read All About It.

By then, however, much of the gathered audience had recognised the Scottish musician – and the crowd understandably erupted with Ms O’Reilly introduced the song.

She describes the next few moments as a “blur”: less than a minute-and-half into her expert rendition, Emeli joined her on stage having been handed a mic.

The resulting duet is spectacular – with Lorraine expertly hitting every note alongside her more famous counterpart.

Ms Sandé also sang Next To Me for the audience before leaving the stage.

Lorraine moved to London five years ago and now works in insurance, although she made it through to the live The Voice UK finals last year.

Last Friday’s gig was in aid of two charitable causes: the Ring Of Beara and the Ring Of Kerry cycles.

Emeli Sandé has announced that her one year marriage to Adam Gouraguine has ended in divorce.

The singer admitted that after the ten year relationship came to an end, she was almost close to a breakdown: “Everyone thought I’d gone mad. ‘What do you mean a divorce? We were all at your wedding a few months ago!’ … But there was something inside me that said, ‘This isn’t the life. You’re pretending to be someone else.’”

Despite the relationship breakdown and divorce, Emeli says she will keep a tattoo that reads ‘I Love You Adam’ in the Serbian language.

Poor Emeli, it’s always difficult to deal with these things in the public eye so at least she got to grieve for the relationship outside of the spotlight.
