The Australian public have voted to legalise same-sex marriage, in a result that paves the way for the country's parliament to formally begin the process of legislating for the union.

The historic postal survey saw 79.5 per cent of Australia's registered voters have their say – making the turnout bigger than both the Brexit referendum and the 2016 US presidential election. Of the 79.5 per cent, 61.6 per cent voted yes.

While the results of the vote are not legally binding, it is widely expected that legislation will be passed by the government before the end of the year, with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull saying he wants to make the people's wish “the law of the land by Christmas.”

Australia will become the 26th nation to legalise same-sex marriage, in what is a huge step forward for a country where, in some states, homosexuality was illegal until 1997.

Celebrations are well under way down under, with many happy voters taking to Twitter to express an overwhelming sense of joy.

At least five people, including the gunman, are dead after a shooting at an elementary school in the USA.

Among the wounded, at least two are children.

Coy Ferreira, whose daughter attends the school, said to KRCR-TV that he thought he heard a firecracker when he was dropping her off at kindergarten.

He told KRCR-TV that he ran into a classroom with 14 students, one of whom was shot when the gunman shot a round through the window.

'He's a really strong kid. I didn't know he was shot for a good thirty minutes until I got up to walk to the office in the classroom and I saw he had bloody clothes,” Ferreira said to KRCR-TV.

The incident occurred at Rancho Tehama School in Tehama County, 200km away from San Francisco. The town has a population of about 1,500 people.

The gunman was killed by authorities.

People in the surrounding area said to the Los Angeles Times that they heard about 100 gunshots. The shooting happened over multiple sites.

'I know that we have airlifted a number of students,' Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told KCRA3.

'I know that the school's been cleared. I know that we have children that were attending school in a safe location at this time.'

The area remains on lockdown at this time.

We will bring you more on this story as we have it.

Ashley Benson has spoken out against the norm of photoshopping celebrities.

The Pretty Little Liars star told StyleCaster how she took issue with how photoshopped some of the posters and promo materials for the cult teen show were.

'PLL had put up this poster and it was from our first season and it was completely crazy,' she told StyleCaster

A post shared by Ashley Benson (@ashleybenson) on

'Nobody looked like themselves.'

'They’ll photoshop out a mole, make your boobs bigger or your waist four sizes smaller, and you’re like, 'That’s not even me.'

'You never know how it’s going to turn out because you have no control and you’re not editing the photos, but it sucks when you’re like, 'Wow. That’s a completely different person.'"

She also told the publication how she hopes to inform her fans and followers whenever there is photoshop trickery afoot.

'I always make sure to tell people, with any sh*t that I do or anyone else does, that unless it’s announced that it’s not photoshopped, it’s photoshopped,' she told the mag.

'And don’t get down on yourself for not looking a certain way because it takes a lot of hair and makeup, a ton of good lighting, and after the shoot, it’s all this editing.'

Kudos to Ashley for reminding us that when it comes to celebrity photo shoots, things probably aren't exactly as they seem.

For months now, Irish shoppers have patiently waited as Victorias' Secret sets up its first fully-stocked Dublin store.

The shop front on Grafton street has been hidden from public view for the best part of a year, and it's safe to say we're all dying to get inside the doors.

While an official date is yet to be confirmed, one blogger has claimed the lingerie store will open for business on December 5 or 6 – just in time for the Christmas rush.

Louise Cooney took to Snapchat to reveal the news after she reportedly received an invite to the big launch.

However, as Victoria's Secret have yet to comment on the launch, we won't be planning any shopping trips just yet.

But hey, this definitely looks promising.

Oh Happy Hardcore, the ony music genre it was cool to listen to back in the 2007-2009 era.

The genre itself was dominated by some key players, namely DJ Rankin, DJ Cammy and Special D – patron saints of sounds your parents dubbed 'chipmunk music' thanks to their fondness for high-pitched, fast paced vocals.

It was a simpler time, when music tastes were dictated by whatever songs your friends could Bluetooth (or God forbid, Infared) from Motorola flip phone to Sony Erikson brick in the school yard.

These were the days when holing up in your room in your Foroige hoodie Limewiring songs onto your phone and using 'txt spk' on MSN was a national hobby.

Oh, and don't forget to add Fly on the Wings of Love as your Bebo flash box, lest anyone forget what a full time mad ba***rd you were.

Well dust off your Cantos and whip out the glow sticks, because The Wright Venue is resurrecting some Happy Hardcore legends.

If you are a fan of DJ Cammy, DJ Rankin, DJ Badboy and DJ Zitkus, you may want to head to The Wright Venue in Swords on December 1.

The venue is playing host to some of the 00s most iconic DJs (and to be honest, we kind of had been wondering whatever happened to them).

Tickets currently range from €8.00-12.00, so get in there quick, as this epic nostalgia fest is sure to sell out fast.

Until them, here's a little anthem to remind you of your youth (DJ Rankin in the mix mother f*****):

When you think Lidl, you most likely think groceries, nifty deals and great prices.

However, the affordable grocery store's coveted middle aisle recently had a visit from the designing talents of supermodel Heidi Klum, and while her original collection sold out, it's time for a brand new season.

Heidi Klum's range for Lidl is returning, but this time with a party wear twist.

The new #LETSCELEBRATE season features a festive smattering of sequins, as well as one of the most elegant and versatile jumpsuits we have seen in quite a while.

Also in the new line are some staple high heels to see us all the way through the party season.

Whether glitter adorned or with a faux leather finish, we've never needed less of an excuse to justify purchasing these wardrobe staples.

'I wanted to create a simple, elegant fashion line that will make us shine over the festive season,' Heidi said.

Coat €26.99, Sequin blazer €24.99

This sequin blazer has got to be one of the trophy pieces from Heidi's new party collection.

Teamed with a soft white t-shirt, jeans and heels. this blazer adds the perfect party pop to an otherwise casual NYE outfit.

As for keeping warm on those nights out, this white faux fur collared coat will keep your outfit under wraps until you reach your party venue, as well as keeping you nice and toasty.

Jumpsuit €12.99, Sequin dress €19.99

Along with heels and glamorous party wear, the collection also includes some sensible but stylish coats to wrap up in this winter.

In classic winter shades like black and burgundy, these wear-with-anything coats are top of our wish lists.

And coming in at around €26.99 each, they're a more affordable alternative to plenty of the classic styles available on the high street.

Coats €26.99 each

'I had so much fun designing the pieces in this collection,' Heidi said previously.

'I’m proud to partner with them on this fashion collaboration,' she added.

'I can't wait for you to see it. I hope you love it as much as I do.'

Heels €24.99 each

The collection launches in all 154 stores nationwide on December 4.

See you all in the middle aisle.

US drama Suits looks set for a major shake up as two of its main stars look set to exit at the end of the next season.

A number of reports suggest that Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle, who play love birds Mike Ross and Rachel Zane on the hit show, have yet to sign on for the likely eight season.

Rumours around Meghan's departure has been circulating for months, with many speculating that the star, who has been in a relationship with Prince Harry since 2016, will move to the UK once her contract ends.

With the two actor's characters due to marry in season seven, it seems only right that the pair would leave their roles at the same time.

However, before you start thinking that Patrick got dealt a bit of a raw deal, an insider has told US Weekly that he was leaving the show regardless.

“He was always leaving the show. He made his mind up a while ago,” the source explained.

“Patrick wants to pursue other things and he’s realised his time at Suits has come to an end."

Meanwhile, The Chicago Tribune is reporting that a Suits spin-off is scheduled to start filming in Chicago this week.

Another day, another Kardashian-Jenner pregnancy mystery.

According to reports (and aerial paparazzi shots) it seems that Kylie Jenner has thrown a baby shower in her backyard just one day after big sister Kim's cherry blossom forest themed shower.

The 20-year-old is rumoured to be expecting her first child with current boyfriend Travis Scott, however this has yet to be officially confirmed.

Kylie's soiree featured huge bouquets of pink flowers, pink floral pillars, and pink petals coating the water's surface of her swimming pool.

If the colour scheme is anything to go by, then it seems likely that Kylie is expecting a girl.

Kylie has been plagued by the rumours for months, and has added fuel to the fire by not appearing in public or showing any of her body to fans via social media.

She has however been sharing snaps that fans thinks are hinting at her pregnancy, and the babies gender.

This has included her showing off pink iPhone cases and behind-the-scenes snaps of pink photo shoots.

Then again, the makeup mogul has been sharing snaps of her upcoming Christmas collation, and the main colour scheme has been – you guessed it – pink.

A post shared by Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

So perhaps this pink flower adorned backyard event was some kind of celebration for Kylie's massive success in the makeup industry, or to reveal her new collection to family and friends.

Either way, we wish the Kardashian clan would spill the beans on whether we should be expecting a new arrival from Kylie anytime soon.

As children most of us longed for the day that we flew the nest so that we could finally fulfil our dream of eating ice-cream for breakfast (and every other meal for that matter).

Of course, once that day actually came we realised that a diet comprising entirely of sugar and milk wasn't exactly the best idea – but hey, Nutella on toast provided a happy medium.

And while we might feel a little bad about starting out day on a chocolate high, all traces of guilt are usually gone by lunchtime – and rightly so.

According to foodbusinessnew.net, eating chocolate at breakfast time could actually be good thing.

Speaking about the benefits, Liz Moskow, culinary director at Sterling-Rice Group said: “Simply put, engaging with food is a conduit to engaging with the world.”

“There was a study that recently came out from Syracuse University re-touting the benefits of dark chocolate, specifically on cognitive function — abstract reasoning, memory, focus.”

“The thought was eating chocolate prepares you more for your workday, so what better part to incorporate dark chocolate into your meal than breakfast?”

“The thought was eating chocolate prepares you more for your workday, so what better day part to incorporate dark chocolate into your meal than breakfast?”

And get this – not only is dessert for breakfast not nearly as bad as for us as we were led to believe, but it could actually support weight loss when eaten in conjunction with a balanced diet.

Someone pass us the Coco Pops!

Christmas is a great opportunity to show our friends and family how much we love them with a thoughtful present. When the gift helps raising money for a charitable cause, it only makes it even more meaningful.

In 2011, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services launched a cook book called The Mixing Bowl, which contained a collection of recipes contributed by the residents and clients of the Extended Care Unit and the Community Reablement Unit in Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6. This was a great success and raised over €95,000.

Six years later, The Mixing Bowl, Second Helpings is finally out, offering a special collection of tried and trusted recipes generously shared by 67 patients, residents, volunteers and staff of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services.

Some of the featured recipes include a scrumptious Lemon Butter Cake, a yummy Peach Cobbler, a hearty Boatman’s Stew, as well as a Speedy Banoffee.

The Mixing Bowl, Second Helpings costs €15 and is available in all good books shops, in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services both in Harold’s Cross and Blackrock or online
