Pamela Anderson has issued a formal letter to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, detailing her wish for the Irish leader to place a ban on fur farming.

As a longtime vegetarian, the former Baywatch star is an avid supporter of animal rights organisation PETA and has spent years campaigning to end various types of animal abuse.

Having previously contacted Enda Kenny over the use of wild animals for entertainment purposes, Pamela opened the letter to the current Fianna Gael leader by saying how “thrilled” she was to hear that a ban would be put in place next year.

She then went on to explain the damaging effects that fur farms are having on over 200,000 minks that a imprisoned in the country three remaining farms.

“They're denied the opportunity to act on any of their natural instincts – such as roaming, swimming and caring for their young,” she wrote.

The star also reminded Leo of the many countries that have already outlawed the practice, including our closest neighbours, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

“I can't think of anyone more capable of creating history once again than you, Ireland's youngest and first openly gay prime minister,”she continued.

“Please, would you pull up those stylish socks of yours and announce a ban on fur farming in Ireland? I greatly look forward to clinking glasses with you when that happens.”

Pamela, who is known to reach out to celebrities and political figures, has previously urged the celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Naomi Campbell to stop wearing fur.

Mark our words, 2017 will forever been know as the year when fashion just lost its way a little bit – and this latest offering from ASOS is here to prove it.

The online retailer has been getting a bit of a slagging over its latest WTF fashion item, and to be honest, it's not hard to see why.

Introducing the 'Full-body Trousers' – or the 'Minimal Jumpsuit' as ASOS like to call it.

Now, we're all about taking risks when it comes to style, but in this case we can't help but think the design would have been better off left on the drawing board.

The bizarre garment was first brought to our attention when Holby City actress Niamh Walsh tweeted a picture saying: “I see you ASOS this is just big trousers.”

We couldn't agree more.

Needless to say, the 'minimal jumpsuit' has sparked quite the conversation online with many Twitter users suggesting their own theories on the inspiration behind the piece

We'll be honest, if you had told us two years ago that Niall Horan would end up being the most successful member of One Direction we probably would have laughed at the idea – but oh how wrong we were.

With two top 10 singles and a critically acclaimed album under his belt, the Mullingar native has prove that life post-1D isn't that bad after all.

Sure, the other lads have had their fair share of successful, but none have made waves in the music industry quite like our Nialler.

Zayn and Harry who?

Last night, the Slow Hands singer was finally given the recognition he deserves when he scooped the Best New Artist Award at the star-studded American Music Awards in Los Angeles, triumphing over fellow nominees, James Arthur, Julia Michaels, Post Malone and Rae Sremmurd.

In an emotional acceptance speech, Niall said: “This is unbelievable. I've had a hell of a year. To be put in that category with some of my friends was unbelievable enough.”

He then went on to dedicate the award to his fans and thanked them for their support throughout his career.

The future is looking bright for the Mullingar man.

Turkey has placed an 'indefinite' ban on all events organised by LGBT rights groups in its capital city, Ankara.

The move comes just days after the city's governing body cancelled a German LGBT film festival, citing terrorism and public safety.

“Starting from November 18, 2017, concerning our community’s public sensitivity, any events such as [LGBT] cinema, theatre, panels, interviews, exhibitions are banned until further notice in our province to provide peace and security,” a decree issued on Sunday read.

It went on to say how such exhibitions could cause different groups to “publicly harbour hatred and hostility” toward each other.

It is likely that this announcement will fuel concerns amongst LGBT under the Islamic-rooted government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

This is not the first ban of it's kind in Turkey. The annual gay pride parade in Istanbul has been blocked by authorities for three years in a row also on security grounds.

While homosexuality is not considered a crime under Turkish law, but there is still widespread hostility with LGBT people facing discrimination and stigma.

Al Porter has resigned as the host of the lunchtime show on Today FM with immediate effect.

His decision comes following a string of allegations against the broadcaster claiming that he acted inappropriately towards a number of fellow comedians at various events over the past five years.

In a statement issued this evening, Al claimed that his conduct was “in keeping with [his] flamboyant and outrageous public persona.”

Read the full statement below:

"I have been completely taken aback by reports in the media and on the social networks over the weekend, and by the scale and tone of the vitriol. While my conduct, which had been in keeping with my flamboyant and outrageous public persona may be regarded as offensive and unacceptable by many people, I at no time intended to upset anyone.

"Up until now, I had been unaware of these complaints or the impact of my conduct and I am truly sorry for any distress I may have caused in what I had regarded as light-hearted and good-natured circumstances.

"Although, on legal advice, I cannot comment on specific allegations at the present time, I nonetheless sincerely apologise to anyone I may have genuinely offended.

"I am very grateful to Today FM, the Olympia Panto and TV3 for the space and time I’ve been granted to deal with the situation. I have however come to the personal decision that I need time away from the spotlight after decades in the entertainment industry. I have informed Today FM that I am resigning from the station with immediate effect.

"To my family, colleagues, friends and fans I thank you for your many, many messages of support."

Morrissey has condemned the decision to re-cast Kevin Spacey in a film following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Speaking to German newspaper Der Spiegel, the former Smiths frontman claimed the actor had been “needlessly attacked” and questioned the credibility of the accusations.

“I think that's ridiculous. As far as I know, he was in the bedroom with a 14-year-old,” he said.

Adding: “Kevin Spacey was 26, the boy 14. In that case, you ask yourself where the parents of the boy were?”

"You ask yourself whether the boy sensed what could happen."

"I was always aware of what could happen. If you're in somebody's bedroom, you need to be aware of where that could lead.

"Because of that, all of that doesn't seem very credible to me. To me it seems as if Spacey was needlessly attacked."

Although the outspoken musician made it clear that he did not condone non-consensual sexual acts in any form, he expressed little sympathy towards the victims of such incidents.

“I hate rape. I hate sexual assault. I hate sexual situations that are forced upon someone.”

“But in very many of these cases, you look at the circumstances and you think that the person, who is called a victim, is simply disappointed.”

The 58-year-old responded in a similar fashion when asked specifically about the allegations made against disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

“The people know exactly what is happening and they are playing along. Afterwards they find it embarrassing or they didn't like it.”

“And then they turn it around and say 'I've been attacked, I've been surprised, I was dragged into the room'. But if everything had gone just fine and made possible a great career, they wouldn't talk about it.”

Needless to say, his comments did not go down well, with many disappointed fans taking to social media to accuse the singer of victim blaming.
