Yearly Archives: 2016

We all know Instagram is used as a platform to project an image of the life you want, but not necessarily the life you truly lead.

And while we might try to remind ourselves of this after an hour spent scrolling, it helps to see it in black and white from someone who appears to have a life millions might lust after.

Acknowledging this, Austrian-born but London-based model, Jazz Egger, has made the decision to re-caption her Instagram uploads in an effort to share the truth behind the stunning shots.

From revealing that her skin had been digitally enhanced despite arriving at a shoot with a clear complexion to confessing she went on a Tour of London by herself because her friends refused to, Jazz is done with the charade.

Using #truthbehindthisshot hashtag, Jazz shines a light on the reality of the modelling industry while bravely highlighting her own insecurities and hang-ups.

Jazz, we salute you.

There was this…

And this…

And what about this?

Oh, and we've all been there…

Oh, and then there was this…

If you'd been planning to hop across the pond for next year's T in the Park festival, you may want to start making alternative plans.

According to emerging reports, the popular music festival in Scotland has been cancelled, and it's all because of an osprey's nest.

No, seriously.

Releasing a statement to explain the reason for the cancellation, event organiser's said: "For over 23 years, T in the Park has been at the heart of Scotland's music scene – with you, by our side. But for now, sadly, we need to take a break."

"As the build-up to the festival was well underway, we were informed by Scottish Government Ministers that we would have to apply for full Planning Permission due to the presence of an unregistered, but protected in law, osprey's nest."

Expressing their regret over the situation, they continued: "The constraints – logically and financially – that the resulting planning conditions put upon us are simply not workable."

"We tried our best to work with the pressures placed upon the site by bringing in an additional team and fixing the first-year traffic issues, but ultimately we're not in control of the overall site layout, and the continued restrictions mean that the negative impact on our fans and the limitations placed on their experience is too great."

Focussing on the future and sounding pretty positive, they finished: "We now need to take stock and take a year out to try to resolve the issues so that we can once again deliver the kind of camping festival you are used to and deserve."

And that's it, folks.

Hoping to win the Euro millions this week?

You could literally warm yourself if you have money to burn with a, wait for it, Chanel hot water bottle.

Of all the luxurious things you could buy, this ridiculously posh body warmer has to be high on the must-have list.

Karl Lagerfeld designed the original novelty hot water bottle bag in 1993, but while most of the haute couture handbags were reserved for the catwalk, a few of these rare gems have since made their way into the hands of high-end vintage dealers.

Any true Chanel devotee would die to get their hands one of these vintage leather relics, or even on their 2010 furry catwalk counterparts.

The high-end hygge points would be through the roof.

While we're happy enough with our Penneys versions, mostly because we don't have €2500 lying around to drop on a hot water bottle, we're sure there's an avid Chanel collector out there that does.

“Other years, it would have been a mixture of the regular songs with some Gospel and Christmas songs thrown in the mix, but this year, we have decided that we will go all out and make it a full Christmas show made up of entirely festive songs,” he said in a press release.

Tickets for Daniel's 2017 tour will go on sale December 3.

There are criers, and then there are criers.

While the former generally manage to maintain their composure unless confronted with something especially devastating, the latter have been known to cry at everything from the sight of a lone glove to the closing scene of Ghost.

And it's not that criers are drama queens (of course not), it's just that they're so full of feels they have to go somewhere… and out their eyes is as good a place as any.

Here are just 12 things any crier knows to be true.

1. The introduction of music to a potentially sad scene is your downfall

“No! No! Not Chasing Cars! I can’t do this."

2. If the person beside you starts up, you don’t stand a chance

“Oh, thanks a lot. That’s it. I’m done now.”

3. If it involves the death of an animal, you’ll have to peace out.

“I’m sorry but I’d rather put my head in the oven."

4. You have shed more tears over Grey’s Anatomy than anything in real life.

“Remember when Denny died?”

5. The fact Thomas J needed his glasses still haunts you

“He can’t see without his glasses. Put his glasses on!”

6. Video of soldiers coming home on YouTube is your go-to when you’re in need of a weep

“He's never met his baby girl? Oh, sweet Jesus."

7. You have cried over things that are actually meant to be, you know, uplifting?

“Read this WeightWatchers testimonial, girls. She's come so far!”

8. You're used to people blatantly rolling their eyes in your face when you begin getting a little choked-up.

"Sorry? Just because you're dead inside?"

9. You've found yourself holding back tears in the office after (secretly) watching a particularly heartwarming viral.

"This is not happening. This is not happening."

10. You've found yourself wondering about your loved ones who keep it together during heartwrenching movie scenes.

"Should I be scared of them? Why aren't they crying? Are they ENJOYING this sorrow?"

11. You've been known to seek out lists of things that you know will make you cry.

"This dog sits on his owner's grave every day, girls. Every day."

12. Old people make you cry, then you think of Up and then you cry even more.

"They'd decorated the nursery? I'm out of here."

It looks like Kylie Jenner is moving just as fast as Kimmy K did in the old days, as the youngest sister is about to launch a clothing line.

And one of the first pieces going on sale is just an epic troll… of herself.

We all remember the video she shared last year, saying that 2016 is going to be the year she 'realises stuff', and as we all laughed and sniggered at her choice of words, she's going to make some serious bank from it.

This year is just the year of ..

Proving that she can laugh at herself… and make money from it… Kylie has designed a t-shirt which simply reads, "Like, realizing stuff."

So, it looks like Kylie knew what she was talking about all along, because let's be honest, it's been a sh*tshow of a year:

While his family have rallied around him following his hospitalisation this week, much speculation has been made as to the impact the Kardashians have had on Kanye West's health.

Reflecting on the supposed pitfalls which have befallen men who have married into the family, some social media outlets have suggested that Kanye's decline in health was inevitable after becoming part of the Kardashian family.

And apparently rapper, Akon, is actually with them on this one.

"I actually thought about that, because at first it was a big joke to everybody," he said, according to TMZ.

"But in Africa there have always been sayings that sometimes you can’t deny what you see, but often times the eye may deceive you too." he said.

Acknowledging that the theory that the family are cursed sounds bizarre to many, Akon continued:  "It’s hard to comment on something like that as much as the evidence may show you that that’s possible, you don’t wanna discredit it as it may just be bad luck."

While the Right Now singer was understandably reluctant to say too much on the subject, he did add: " I wouldn't deny it but I wouldn't promote it either. When you think about it, the evidence all points to it."

Kanye abruptly cancelled his tour before being hospitalised at the beginning of the week.

Wine and make-up are pretty close when it comes to things we love. Well, now you can have them blissfully together.

Well, kinda.

Korean brand, Labiotte, has created a lipstick in the shape of a wine bottles and they are the cutest thing to carry around in your pruse.

It has fab, matte lipsticks in great colours and even lip tints, too.

But the vino-inspired cosmetics doesn't stop there. Nope, Labiotte has launched mascara and lip balm in the shape of wine glasses also.

You can buy the liquid lipsticks from Amazon, and we think we're going to take every shade… just like we take our wine.

A brutal image of a blind dog has become the focus of an ongoing online debate surrounding the plight of animals living in Irish puppy farms.

The photo of a grey terrier named Ponda was shared by Animal Heaven Animal Rescue’s Facebook page yesterday alongside a caption which claims the dog only escaped her previous owners because she can no longer produce pups.

“After nine years of breeding the only reason she got out was the fact she can’t have pups anymore,” reads the heartwrenching post.  “Tonight she is recovering at our vets after being spayed and both eyes removed.”

The caption suggests Ponda suffered years of pain while being “forced to have pups” to profit her owners and living in “filthy conditions”.

The Kerry-based charity has called for puppy farming to be banned while posing the question: “Will her face be enough to stop people buying designer dogs for Christmas?”

Naturally, the image of the dog’s oozing eyes has caused great upset among the animal-loving community.

Comments on the post range from genuine upset to sheer anger at the lax regulations which allow such abuse to occur.

“I would love five minute with the people who caused this pain to these unfortunate animals,” wrote one impassioned commentator.  “They’re not fit to be called humans.”

“OMG why don’t the guards do something about this?” asked another.  “My heart really is breaking.  Why are these bad heartless people allowed to do this to a sweet puppy who only really wanted to be loved and cared for?”

Last week, 96 designer puppies – including Basset Hounds, Beagles, Yorkies, Cocker Spaniels and Bichon Frise – bound for the UK market were rescued at Dublin Port.

The pups have been placed in foster homes as they are currently too ill to be assigned to permanent owners.
