It's been seven years since we lost the King of Pop just two months shy of his 51st birthday on August 29 2009.

And in honour of what would have been his father's 58th birthday yesterday, Prince shared a poem he had written which pays tribute to the man who brought us some of the biggest pop classics of our generation.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Prince Michael, who was just 12 when his father died, uploaded an ode to his father, writing: "Happy birthday to the Man who was more than a legend. I love you."

"To many he is king, to me, a man. All he inspires, to lead a noble cause. Everyone is family, not a fan," he began.

"Even while receiving thunderous applause, The many know the Legend and the Myth, A lucky few know the Man as he is, But not as the Jackson family fifth." he continued.

"Son, Brother, Father," these few know him as. He is the Myth, the Legend and the Man. He cares for his mother and his children, The world and everyone, he is a lamb."

"He is pure, tested, yet has forgiven. He is the archangel known as Michael. He is with us and our tears we must stifle," he finished.

The post has received more than 11,000 likes from fans who extended their sympathy to the Jackson family on Michael's birthday.

"My thoughts are with you and your family, always. Your father was truly an angel with a huge heart, this world didn't deserve him but the world needed him," wrote one.

"He made such a difference, I'm glad he raised such wonderful kids. Love you all," they continued while another added: "Sobbing."

Prince is older brother to Paris and Prince Michael Jackson II.

The chaos caused by the Luas strikes earlier this year is still fresh in our minds, so the news that Dublin Bus will be striking next month is not sitting easy with us this morning.

According to breaking reports, Dublin Bus drivers will be striking for six days over the course of September.

Dublin Bus users will need to organise alternate modes of transport on September 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 23rd and 24th as the strike will result in a complete shutdown of operations.

The announcement comes after Dublin Bus workers rejected a 8.2% pay rise over three years arguing instead for the 18% increase received by Luas workers this year.

"Our members are engaged in a dispute with management concerning what they believe to be a reasonable and fair pay claim," explained  Owen Reidy, organiser of the SIPTU Transport, Energy, Aviation and Construction Division.

"Workers at the company have not had a pay increase for eight years," he explained. "During that period, they have suffered reductions in earnings and have co-operated with three comprehensive restructurings of the company."

Well, that's it – time to call in some favours.

Ever since the Video Music Awards aired on Sunday night, everyone has been talking about Drake and Rihanna.

After declaring his love for her on-stage in front of millions, most people crossed their fingers and hoped that it might just be the real thing for the Hotline Bling singer.

Most people, that is, except Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

According to Hollywood Life, the rapper, who was charged with assaulting Rihanna in 2009, has little time for Drake's heartfelt declarations.

"Drake‘s doing too much and Chris is laughing at him behind his back," a source told the website. "Between the billboard and the speech – that’s not being a gentlemen, that’s just being corny."

Chris, who is no position to dole out advice on how to treat a woman, is also fairly certain that his ex-girlfriend is nowhere near as interested in Drake as he is in her.

"Drake is trying to be all smooth, but he’s failing because Rihanna doesn’t want him," the insider added.

Well, we'll let Rihanna be the judge of that one, Chris.

2016 has been rough.

Losing David Bowie, Terry Wogan, Alan Rickman, Prince, and Victoria Wood in the space of just nine months has rocked the entertainment industry, and this morning it is mourning yet another much-loved star.

Following the passing of Gene Wilder – the original Willy Wonka – Twitter has been awash with tributes to the actor who died of complications related to Alzheimer’s disease.

From Stephen Fry to Ed Westwick, there are very few unmoved by the death of the much-loved actor.

Ever since Rob Kardashian revealed his relationship with Blac Chyna earlier this year, online commentators have been suggesting that Chyna is growing increasingly like her partner’s sister Kim.

While this idea appears to be primarily based on changes to Chyna’s physical appearance, there is no denying that some of her actions are also strangely close to those of her future sister-in-law.

It now appears the future Mrs Kardashian is about to take this likeness to a whole new level as she has landed herself a nude cover shoot with the same magazine Kim K famously broke the internet with back in 2014.

According to E!, the 28-year-old model will bare all for the Beautiful People Class of 2016 issue of Paper.

But, unlike Kim, Chyna will not be balancing a champagne glass on her bum for the mag as the issue’s cover will instead show the reality star holding her growing baby bump with nothing on bar some gold jewellery.

Putting any lingering feud rumours to bed, Kim was in attendance at Chyna’s shoot and – according to Paper’s Managing Editor – the pair “spent a lot of time having a private moment” during which it is believed the former cover girl offered the mag’s latest star “support and encouragement and advice”.

Yesterday was like an unexpected Christmas for Justin Bieber fans everywhere as it appeared to all that his fortnight long Instagram protest had come to an end.

But it seems the 22-year-old Canadian was left feeling Sorry about his apparent decision to return to the ‘gram as once again his account has disappeared into thin air.

As his fans discovered the modern day tragedy last night, the Love Yourself singer used Twitter – because he is still on that – to claim his brief return to the image sharing channel was “an accident”.

 

 

Without trying to soften the blow for the Beliebers in any way, JB wrote bluntly: “Still no Instagram it was an accident.”

Naturally Justin’s fans have been left devastated by the news.  One posted on Twitter: “Oh my gosh @justinbieber please please please undelete your Instagram.  I can’t function without seeing your posts.”

While another said: “Without you on Instagram @justinbieber it’s not the same.  I miss seeing you everyday.  But I respect it, although I don’t like it.”

Original Willy Wonka star Gene Wilder has died aged 83.

The comedic actor – who starred in The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein – passed away yesterday at his home in Stamford, Connecticut.

His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman said Gene died of complications related to Alzheimer’s disease, Variety has reported.

In a statement Jordan said that the family were “among the lucky ones” as Gene’s condition “never stole his ability to recognise those that were closest to him, nor took control of his central gentle life-affirming core personality”.

Today the two time Oscar nominee is being remembered online for his role as famed chocolate entrepreneur Willy Wonka in the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Remember when Britney called Justin Stinky and he called her Pinky? Remember when they wore marching denim outfits?

And remember when they broke up, and he released a track which suggested Brit has been far from faithful during their time together?

Yeah, it was super-hard, and we all thought we'd have to give up on love together.

But after moving on from what looked like a pop-perfect union, the former couple found love elsewhere, and now it sounds like enough time has passed for them to possibly reunite…in the recording studio.

According to a recent Q&A for Most Requested Live with Romeo, Britney revealed JT would be up there as one of her 'dream collaborators'.

Listing a number of acclaimed stars, Britney said: "Aerosmith seems really good and bright. He's a genius I think. He's very rock n' roll. He sings from his soul."

"Gwen Stefani, I think she's great," Britney said before adding: "Justin Timberlake is very good."

OK, OK we know. He didn't exactly get the Aerosmith treatment, but of all the musicians she could have named, she went for her first love?

Interesting –  very, very interesting.

According to numerous emerging reports, a family of five have been found dead at a house in Ballyjamesduff in Co. Cavan earlier today.

It has been established that Gardaí were called to the home in Oakdene, Barconey at noon where they discovered the bodies of a couple and their three children.

According to the Sunday Business Post, the man is understood be in his 40s, the woman in her 30s while the children are aged 13, 11 and 6 –  all of whom are well known in the area.

The Irish Times report that while a Gardaí investigation is currently ongoing, authorities are not seeking anyone else in relation to the five deaths.

It is understood a press conference will be held later this evening at Ballyjamesduff Garda station.

Congratulations are in order as Carice van Houten has welcomed her first child with her partner, Guy Pearce.

The acting duo have become parents for the first time as Guy announced the good news on social media.

“A cute little package arrived and told us his name’s Monte Pearce”.

The actress who plays Melisandre on HBO hit Game of Thrones, announced the news back in March as she readied herself for all sorts of GoT jokes.

“Ok. I’m ready for your shadowbaby jokes.”

The couple have received messages from fans as well as friends with fond memories of the day.

It’s been seven years since Jenni JWoww Farley first appeared on screens as part of MTV’s controversial reality series Jersey Shore.

And while the 30-year-old television personality hasn’t been absent from the spotlight since the show ended in 2012, she certainly looks a whole lot different than she did the last time we saw her.

Last night the New York native was photographed alongside her Snooki & JWoww co-star Nicole Polizzi while attending the MTV VMAs and she looked close to unrecognisable as she posed in a figure-hugging black dress.

The mother of two looked very mermaid-esque with her waist-length locks and fishtail style gown, but her strikingly different appearance has reignited rumours that she’s had some cosmetic work done on her face.

Despite having been open about having her boobs enhanced shortly before her 21st birthday, in 2014 the former party girl denied having her face enhanced in a social media post.
