Look, we love our dogs as much as the next person, but we've never really harboured any interest in seeing what our offspring might look like.

Because, you know, that's a bit, well, vomit-inducing.

Unfortunately for the viewers of The Late Late Show with James Corden, recent guest, Jennifer Lawrence, actually has considered it, and she's only dying to see it turned into an app.

Communicating her idea to James and the studio audience, Jennifer said: "My idea for an app is an app where you see what you and your dog's baby would look like."

"It's all in the details. It has to be very real," she added.

After revealing that people have actually pursued the idea on her behalf, the Passengers star admitted she wasn't quite impressed with the result.

"They sent me one prototype that's like me with dog ears and a snout and I'm like 'No.' It all about the features," she insisted.

If you say so, Jen.

There are some band names within the music industry which definitely could have done with a little more work, but it's Christmas and we're feeling generous of spirit, so we won't name them.

However, one band which definitely wouldn't have made the cut when composing our 'They Didn't Think That One Through' list is Mumford & Sons.

While yes, it does sound vaguely like a batch bread, there's something comforting, retro and catchy about it.

Unfortunately Marcus Mumford isn't with us on that one.

Speaking to Chris Moyles on Radio X, the lead singer of the hugely popular band admitted that he's never been happy with the moniker.

"I regret our band name,” he said. “It’s rubbish. It’s a rubbish name."

"You never really think about it when you’re in the pub, you’ve done your first rehearsal, you’ve written your first song and someone’s like: ‘you need a band name now’."

And a star is born… right, Marcus?

Hoodies, jumpers, and sweaters: the Christmas presents that give back too.

Sure you buy them in good faith for the significant male other in your life – but you also know full well that in time you'll be helping yourself to those very same wares.

And why not – don't you look dashing in an oversized geansaí? Sure he wasn't even using it at the time.

With that in mind, we've set eyes upon these below gems from Jack Jones (as available right now on JackJones.com)

We reckon all of them would seriously impress on Christmas morning. That you know they'd fit nicely over your own festive jim-jams is merely a happy coincidence.

Here's our pick of the crop…

Baseball Neck in grey, €40;
Sky Captain in navy, €40;

Plus a few things just for him (go'wan so)…

Sir Cliff Richard swapped performing on stage to performing in the kitchen today.

The singer appeared on This Morning and viewers were totally bewildered by his gravy-making skills.

Cliff, wearing a rather sparkly blazer, took to the kitchen to prepare an usual take on Christmas gravy, by mixing in soy sauce and teriyaki sauce.

And of course, Twitter went wild for it:

As the Christmas break is looming, it's safe to say many of us will be dropping ourselves on the couch to binge-watch whatever Netflix has in store for us over the holidays.

And for people who feel bad about the guilty pleasure or think it's a waste of time, take a step back because it turns out binge-watching TV is actually good for you.

Neuroscientist Vanessa Hill spoke to Harper's Bazaar about the benefits of sitting in front of the TV for a couple of hours.

"We all need some rest and relaxation from time to time and it's super important we acknowledge that – it's actually beneficial for our mental health to be inactive for a couple of hours a week.

"Watching movies and television can have some really surprising benefits. Yes, at face-value, they are entertaining, but they also have significant psychological and physiological benefits and we should take advantage of them.

"It allows us to switch our brain off from pressures, better equipping us to deal with our daily stressors when we return to the hustle and bustle of daily life," she says.

"Research shows we find the Christmas period a particularly stressful time of year, from busy work schedules, to financial pressures, social engagements – R&R has never been so important."

So there you have it ladies – you know where we'll be this Christmas.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have enjoyed a three month whirlwind romance, and were spotted together today for the first time since embarking on their new relationship.

The pair were also allegedly seen picking out a Christmas tree together, leading to speculation as to whether or not the Suits star will be joining the royal family over the holidays.

“I very much doubt she will be there,” a close insider told People

However, the source seems to think that Queen Elizabeth could change her mind yet, with a prompt from the red-haired prince.

“But if Harry asks for something, she would say yes as she adores him.”

The insider also pointed out that meeting the entire family for such a big occasion would be highly stressful for the American actress.

“It would be a tall order for her, and possibly put her off for good!” they said.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward agreed, telling People it would be "extremely difficult for her.”

It looks like no matter what your area of expertise, the rich and famous like to get a bit of movie action nowadays.

Variety – as well as compromise – is the spice of life. So while we might not be able to resist EVERY single treat going – some small tweaks and occasional changes can make a big difference to how we look and feel.

That and reaching for a large glass of Pinot Grigio most nights of the week isn't always so appealing when you know you'll be up at the crack of dawn with loud and lively small ones.

With that in mind, we've compiled a list of five fabulously delicious snacks to tuck into when you feel a lift-me-up that doesn't involve a pounding headache or inhaling two packets of Hobnobs…

1) Dark chocolate and green tea

According to one US study, dark chocolate and green tea is the ideal combo to tackle that mid-afternoon energy drop. If you snack on these, you should feel more alert and attentive thanks to the dark chocolate (minimum 60 percent cacao). Meanwhile your blood pressure should also instantly drop thanks to the amino acid L-theanine, which is a relaxant found in green tea.

2) Apple with peanut butter or banana and almond butter
Peanut, almond or cashew butters are great sources of healthy fats and protein, and fruits provide us with fibres, essential for our gut health and to regulate our appetite. Spread a thin layer of nut butter on your favourite fruit and you get a lovely sweet, filling and healthy snack. However, if you're keeping an eye on your calorie intake, don’t be too heavy-handed with the nut butter, as it’s very rich.

3) Almond stuffed prunes

So much more than an elderly lady constipation treatment! To make them softer, soak your prunes in tea or water and stuff them with a lightly grilled almond. Prunes are a good source of potassium, iron, and of course fibres to help digestion and promote a healthy gut. To mix things up a little, swap almonds with walnuts and the prunes with dates.

4) Energy balls
Energy/protein balls were a BIG food trend in 2016, and for good reason. Making them yourself in bulk will make them much more affordable than when you buy them in the shop. Depending on what ingredients you use, they can be a great source of vitamins and minerals. Just Google “energy balls” and you will find countless recipes. Try the likes of peanut butter, dates, oats and cacao power ball, or blend together dates, your favourite nuts, goji berries, coconut and cacao for example. Be careful, these treats are seriously addictive!

5) Greek yoghurt, blackberries and honey
A great source of protein, probiotics, potassium and calcium, Greek yoghurt is definitely your waistline friend. Top it with blackberries (full of vitamin C and antioxidants, and low in calories) and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, you will get a filling and delicious snack that your tummy will thank you for.

The singers were spreading their festive cheer through song in the arrivals hall this week, when the Irish pop due decided to join them.

Wearing matching jackets, the twins gave a rousing rendition of Wham’s hit Last Christmas.

The brothers were on the same flight as U2 rocker The Edge, as well as journalist Phillip Bromwell who tweeted the video.

"Guess which one joined in with the carol singers in Arrivals?" he said.

Hugely popular TV and radio presenter, Fearne Cotton, made the decision to discuss her depression diagnosis in her new book Happy, and in a recent column for Glamour magazine she offered an insight into the motivation behind it.

"The book Happy was born from a huge personal shift in perspective and pivotal point in my life," the mother-of-two began.

And as if by magic she was back to her natural state #getyapjsout

In words which are bound to resonate with millions, she continued: "I used to believe that life worked in a certain way and that particular moments should be reached or achieved, and along with that would come happiness."

Fearne reveals that this particular approach was thrown into freefall when she was diagnosed with depression, continuing: "Although excruciating, this explosive yet short period of my life lead me to soul search in new ways I hadn't before."

The presenter, who first hit our screens way back in 1996, is eager to remind the public that depression does not discriminate.

"There might be assumptions made that if you are on TV or have experienced a certain journey in life then you should be immune to depression or sorrow."

Fearne chose to use her book to share the techniques which help her to navigate the condition – something which she also touched on in the recent column.

"Simple pleasures like being with my family, getting out in the fresh air, eating healthy food and music are all small things that impact my happiness daily," she wrote.

"For me it's all about those small steps in the right direction rather than huge leaps where there are no guarantees."

Reflecting on Happy, which is set for release in February 2017, Fearne added: "It's an honest book which I hope brings solace to others knowing they're not alone and also includes practical exercises to help tap up that happiness daily."
