It's no secret that you are what you eat — but did you know you might feel what you eat, too?

A September 2015 study published in BMC Medicine is just one of many to find a link between food and mental health.

After looking at the eating habits of more than 15,000 people for 10 years, researchers found that people who ate a lot of fruits, veggies, nuts and fish had a lower risk of depression.

Salmon

A major nutritional deficiency of people with depression is in omega-3 fats, which help decrease inflammation and improve mood regulation. Eating salmon will set you up perfectly to combat any mood swings.

Tomatoes

Researchers found that their is a relationship between symptoms of depression and eating tomatoes and tomato-based products. The results show that participants who regularly consumed tomatoes had nearly half the odds of depression as those who didn't have a consistent tomato-fix.

Chickpeas

The biggest micronutrient deficiency in depression are the B vitamins, especially vitamin B-6, which regulates the metabolism and breakdown of all neurotransmitters. Chomping on chickpeas can change all that.

Whole Grains

Researchers from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition linked higher fibre intake with lower depression rates, while refined grains (white bread) were associated with higher rates of depression.

Nuts and Seeds

Nuts may be the perfect superfood, since they're a triple threat for depression: high in protein and amino acids, healthy fats like omega-3 and tryptophan, the brain-soothing chemical that builds serotonin levels, which make you happier.

Your hair style will always be something that is totally unique to you.

Saying that, it's also something that can make you feel fabulous or make you feel like total rubbish.

Either way, there comes a time when you have to change your style, and these signs might be your little last push:

1. You still have The Rachel

Yes, we know it's a great hair style, but there comes a point when EVERY style should pass.

2. Your roots have taken over

Ah, we've all been there. But when they become really noticeable, it's time to make that appointment.

3. You spend ages trying to style it… and then throw it up in a bun

The bun and ponytail are our best friends and there's nothing wrong with wearing one, just not every single day.

4. You look back on photos from 5 years ago and your hair is the exact same

This is not a good sign. Yes, we know if it ain't broke and all that, but there's no problem with altering it a slight bit.

5. Someone tells you look just like your mother

Run to the hairdressers!

6. You can visibly notice your split ends

You NEED a trim, whether you like it or not, you're hair is just getting damaged at this stage.

7. You comment on everyone else's hair do'

Forget about the rest! Love your own hair style.

8. You keep saying that you're think of changing it

We know it can be hard and scary to go for the chop, but just do it – you'll thank us when you have a great new style!

We were somewhat worried when we released that blue eyeshadow (hello, dodgy teenage years) was once again becoming a bit of a thing.

Now we have yet more beauty news of concern: frosted lips are also definitely having a serious resurgence.

And while you might cringe at your own past disasters (or, ya know, look in hopeless wonder at the likes of Pam Anderson) – the modern, 2015 trend for frosted lips is WAY more refined than it was in the 90s.

For that you can thank better formulas that don't reflect light in such an, ahem, intense way.

"Today, we have new technology, frosted lipsticks have better light reflectivity than they used to," says top make-up artist Phillippe Chansel.

"Because of the finer pearl particles, they deliver a smoother finish and an even application."

He also told Refinery 29: "Not to mention that the background shades of the frosts are also more flattering – think berries, bronzes, and warm neutrals rather than bubblegum pink and washed out tan."

If you're still hesitant about the trend, check out some celebs rocking the frosted lip this year:

Fans of Jim Carrey have been taking to social media this evening to express their shock at the passing of his girlfriend, Cathriona White.

The 28-year-old Tipperary-native had moved to Hollywood in 2009 to work as a make-up artist and had met the high-profile actor on a movie set in 2012.

Sadly, reports from the US this afternoon say that Ms White has taken her own life.

According to TMZ, she was found dead by friends last night and it has been furthermore reported that she had left a suicide note addressed to Mr Carrey.

Now, in a heartfelt statement, Jim has responded to the tragedy.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,” he said.

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”

The 53-year-old added: “My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.

“We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”

Just a week ago, the talented make-up artist had dined at Malibu's upmarket Nobu restaurant.

Ms White also recently travelled to Canada – taking to Instagram to thank the Irish consulate in San Franciso for renewing her passport promptly. And earlier this year, she had shared a snap of her proudly wearing her Tipperary hurling jersey around LA.

Her most recent post was from just five days ago when she uploaded a wind-swept black-and-white snap for her 7,500 followers.

Underneath the image, people have this evening been leaving their condolences.

"Sweet Dreams @littleirishcat may flights of angels sing you to your rest xxx shocked," one sympathiser wrote.

Another said, "RIP young lady. May you find peace at last."

Meanwhile a third person stated: "At dheis Dé go bhfuil a anam. Had the pleasure of playing football with Caitríona, she was a loyal, kind and caring girl.

"Her heart was always in the right place. So sorry to hear of her loss my sympathies to all family and friends xx Rest in peace a stór."

We all know the feeling of an empty fridge.

Whether you forgot to do the food shopping or didn't have time, it's an awful feeling to open your fridge or presses, only to find they're half-bare.

When this happens, a lot of the time we will resort to a takeaway – and while that may be grand every now and again – it can't happen everytime you forget to do the food shopping.

So, to save you the pennies (and the pounds), here are five easy meals to whip up out of nothing! You're bound to have a few of these ingredients lying about!

Rice bowl

We all have that packet of rice that just never seems to leave the cupboard, so a rice bowl is the perfect dish to whip up as it's so easy and versatile. Simply just cook the rice and then add to it whatever you fancy – leftover meat, vegetables, beans or sauce – and your meal is ready to go!

Quesadillas

This is probably one of the easiest meals to make, but also really tasty. Have some tortilla wraps lying about? Great. Splash on some cheese, vegetables, meat, salsa, fold over the wrap and then grill for about five minutes. Easy!

Sandwich bar

We all know the dreaded feeling of the parents stopping by unannounced and you have NO food in the fridge. You don't want them thinking you're ultimately failing at life – so make them a fancy sandwich bar!

Cut up whatever you have left – lettuce, cucumber, cheese, tuna, chicken, tomatoes – and lay them out into fancy bowls for them to make up.

Not only will it seem like you have loads of food in the house, but they will also think you put in a lot of effort into fixing it up… even though we know you didn't.

Tortilla pizza

Need a good, hearty meal but haven't a clue what to do? Tortilla pizza is your new best friend. Lay out the tortilla wrap flat, and you can add, whatever sauce you have – tomato, BBQ, pesto – then some cheese, vegetables or meat if you fancy it. Pop in the oven for ten minutes and your meal will be made.

Chicken noodle soup

Like rice, we all probably have a packet of noodles lying about in the kitchen. And as well as that. we might have some leftover chicken from Sunday dinner too. Add in some onions, carrots and stock, and you have a warm yummy dish for any cold nights in.

Billions of plastic containers are thrown away annually.

It's an activity which creates countless environmental catastrophes and causes unimaginable damage to the natural world around us.

However, now a simple solution is really taking off: edible water bottles that look like a miniature water balloon.

Dubbed Ooho and jointly created by Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez, Guillaume Couche, and Pierre Paslier of Skipping Rocks Lab in London, the biodegradable device has the potential to change the way people around the world hydrate.

It is created by taking a frozen ball of water and then encapsulating it in an edible membrane layer constructed from calcium chloride and brown algae.

The total cost of creating a single unit is around a cent and the process is actually inspired a culinary technique called spherification.

Although it was originally unveiled last year, Ooho recently received a €20,000 sustainability award from the EU – an investment which could signal that we're about to see a lot more water blobs.

Mr Paslier told The Guardian earlier this month: "At the end of the day you don’t have to eat it. But the edible part shows how natural it is.

"People are really enthusiastic about the fact that you can create a material for packaging matter that is so harmless that you can eat it."

He added: "So many things are wrong about plastic bottles: the time they take to decompose, the amount of energy that goes into making them and the fact we are using more and more."

We don't even know if we're surprised since the Beckhams seem to be ruling the world at the moment – but research has found that the famous family are now richer than the Queen of England.

Brand Beckham accounts for the whole family of six, who are now worth nearly half a BILLION Euro!

According to The Telegraph, researchers at the London School of Marketing assessed all of their business ventures and estimated the family is worth €630m.

And according to the Sunday Times rich list 2015, the Queen's estimated fortune is €460m.

The study showed the sum of the Beckham's value, with footworks at €200m, the Beckham name at €94m and their ventures at €80m.

And that's only going to grow, seeing as their children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, are only starting their careers in the limelight.

They've been dating on/off since meeting on a movie set three years ago – and in recent months Cathriona White and Hollywood star Jim Carrey had rekindled their romance.

Tragically, however, reports from the US now say that Ms White has taken her own life.

She was aged just 28 and originally hailed from Cappawhite in Co Tipperary.

Police in Californian have told TMZ that after responding to a call last night, LAPD officers went to a local residence and discovered Cathriona's body.

It is believed that she was originally found by two concerned friends and a TMZ source added that Ms White left a suicide note addressed to Mr Carrey.

Cathriona had tweeted last Thursday: "Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest."

US law enforcement reportedly believe she may have died from a drugs' overdose: pills were discovered next to her body.

She and 53-year-old Jim met in 2012 while she was working as a make-up artist.

They originally dated for more than a year before breaking-up. They then began seeing each other in May of this year but are believed to have split again in the last few days.

Cathriona trained as a beauty therapist in Ireland before moving to Hollywood in 2009.

Remember, if you need someone to talk to you can always contact the Samaritans for support. In Ireland, the organisation runs a 24-hour helpline on 116 123, or alternatively you can email jo@samaritans.org.

Most of us don't get the recommended eight hours of sleep a night – and as we all know, there can be major repercussions on the way we look as a result.

We wish we could wake up bright-eyed, with dewy skin every morning, but that's never going to happen… unless you follow these quick fixes that will have you looking fresh in a shorter amount of time than you spend in the line for Starbucks.

Moisturise it

When you don't get enough sleep, you body – mostly your skin –  misses out on its nightly repairing.

By not allowing it to rejuvenate, you'll be more prone to breakouts, redness, patchy skin and dehydration. Thankfully, the latter can be solved by doing what we should be doing anyway: moisturising.

It'll help you achieve that radiant glow we all sought after, but as well as that it will help fight long term symptoms of not getting enough sleep, like enlarged pores, wrinkles and under-eye circles.

Massage it

Now we're not talking about a full-on massage here, just a quick face one. If you're to be ready in under five minutes, you're going to need a good multi-tasker – and this one is perfect. While using your finger to moisturise, give yourself a small face massage.

It will help boost circulation and brighten the complexion. Not only does it feel amazing with cold moisturiser, but if you practise the right routine, you will give your face an instant boost in a minute flat.

Highlight it

In the morning, especially on days where you've gotten little sleep, a good highlighter is like saviour in a tube. When you've found the right one for your skin tone, it'll be your go-to for brightening and defining your features in a flash.

The best places to apply this is the inner corners of your eye, under the brow bones, and across your cheekbone to fake that eight-hour sleep look.

Cool it

When it comes to the dreaded puffy morning face, rely on one thing – cold temperatures. Cold temperatures shrink capillaries and stimulate drainage (in other words, de-puffs).

Whether you press your face with a cold cloth or store your moisturiser in the fridge, take every opportunity to give your face a zap of coolness. Pro tip: Place two spoons in the freezer for a couple of minutes and place them over your eyes (curved sides inward) for 10 – 15 secs to get rid of puffiness in that area.

The best part is, it will not only make you look more awake, but you'll feel more awake too.

She the adorable only daughter and youngest child of pretty much the hottest couple on the planet – so it's no surprise that Harper Beckham is quite the cutie herself.

Indeed, and although she's still only four, she's become something of a mini-fashionista in her own right, certainly giving North West and Penelope Disick a serious run for their stylish money.

Key to the little one's look, of course, is her mop of gorgeous blonde hair – which at this stage reaches down to her bum.

Now her dad, David, has spoken of his love of her look, stating that he simply won't allow a barber's scissors anywhere near her locks.

In conversation with Yahoo! Style to promote his new H&M campaign, the former footballer revealed: "About a year ago, my wife said, 'Maybe we should cut Harper’s hair.'

"And I was like, 'No! We need to grow it. Do. Not. Touch.'"

In fact, despite now being four – a birthday she marked in July – the youngster has NEVER had her hair chopped.

"Since she was born, we haven’t cut it," David admitted. "That’s why it’s pretty much down to her knees."

Noting that his mother, Sandra, used to be a hair stylist, the 40-year-old furthermore revealed that she sadly didn't pass on any tips to him. Still, that hasn't stopped him from tackling his sons' unruly manes.

"I do cut my sons’ hair from time-to-time. When they have a buzz cut, I do it.

"If I have to use scissors, the boys know not to ask."
