Keira Knightley has revealed that the spelling of her name is the result of a misspelling on her birth certificate.

But no, unfortunately she did not reveal that the spelling of her name should be ‘Ciara’ but rather that her parents had settled on ‘Kiera’ before she was born.

The Imitation Game actress told the hilarious story of her mum’s epic mistake, saying: “I was meant to be named ‘Kiera’ after a Russian ice skater who was on the TV one day. My dad fancied her and nicked her name for me. But it was my mum who went to register my birth, and she accidentally spelled ‘ei’ instead of ‘ie’ because my mum’s crap at spelling.”

 Ouch – poor Mammy Knightley!

Keira went on to say that her dad was less than impressed when he discovered the mix-up, as Keira describes: “Apparently when she came back, he said ‘what the f**k? You’ve spelt her name wrong!’ What were they going to do though? Once it’s on the piece of paper, it’s on the piece of paper. And that’s me. A spelling error.”

We’re sure Keira and her husband James Righton will take extra care when putting their baby’s name on the register in a few months!

With such strict ideals of beauty in Hollywood, it's rare to see someone step outside of the blonde, sunkissed norm.

But when a gritty role called for a complete image overhaul, these actors stepped up to the post.

Here's our look at five of the most dramatic changes actors and actresses have undertaken for film roles. Weight loss, weight gain, head shaving, piercings… it's all there!

1. Charlize Theron for Monster
In what is perhaps one of the most memorable celebrity transformations of all time, Charlize packed on 30 pounds to play prostitute-turned-serial killer Aileen Wuornos. Her efforts earned her an Oscar, so it wasn't all bad!

2. Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club
Matthew had to undergo gruelling diet changes to drop muscle and body fat for the role of Ron Woodroof. The transformation was scary:

3. Rooney Mara for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Rooney chopped her hair, bleached her eyebrows and got several piercings to fully embody to role of tough girl hacker Lisbeth Salander in the US version of this film. "The eyebrows were the biggest shock because that really changed my face, and I didn't recognise myself," she told Vogue at the time.

4. Hilary Swank for Boys Don't Cry
Hilary was relatively unknown when she took on the role of Brandon Teena, a woman living as a man, for Boys Don't Cry. She dropped her body fat down to 7 percent and spent months dressing as a man in preparation for the role, which earned her a Best Actress Oscar.

5. Tom Hanks for Castaway
A year-long break in filming was needed to give Tom Hanks time to drop from his normal starting weight down to a Castaway-esque skinny frame. The actor dropped 50 pounds and grew out his hair and beard – yes, it's all real!

Good lucks clearly run in the Huntington-Whitely household as Rosie’s little brother, Toby has made his modelling debut.

The 24-year-old personal trainer has appeared in adverts for men’s clothing company, Jacamo looking every inch the model his sister is.

Toby has obviously been holding off on a modelling career, unlike his sister whose career rocketed back in 2003 when she was only 16-years-old. By 19, she was a Victoria’s Secret Angel and her career has gone from strength to strength.

We have to say, we reckon Toby is going to be a very successful model – look at those lips, and that hair!

Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan has caused a bit of controversy over a photo she tweeted earlier today.

The reality TV star tweeted a Snapchat photo with the title: “Tom still working on da thigh gap” and captioned the image: “HAHAHA Progress.”

Holly has been very open and honest about her weight-loss journey over the past year or so, but now it looks as if her mention of the controversial ‘thigh-gap’ has left people somewhat worried.

Many of her followers comments reflected this:

There's no denying that Holly looks absolutely incredible, but is the glorification of the controversial 'thigh-gap' a bad message to be giving her followers?

Avocado might seem like more of a savoury food, but as we showed last week, it is versatile enough to use in desserts, too!

These deliciously moist and chocolatey brownies use avocado in place of oil or butter, to create an amazing texture and a really moreish taste. Don't worry – once the mixture is mixed and blended well, you'd have no idea these even contained anything other than yummy chocolate!

The avocado icing is optional – the vibrant green colour might be too much for some people, but trust us, it's well worth trying.

Avocado Brownies
Recipe makes 9 large brownies

Ingredients

For the brownies

  • 1 large, ripe avocado
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 100g good quality dark chocolate
  • 85g good quality cocoa powder
  • 120g caster sugar
  • 1 teapsoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

For the creamy icing (optional)

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 185g icing sugar, sieved

Method

For the brownies

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.
  2. Grease and line an 8 inch square tin with parchment.
  3. Peel avocado, remove stone and mash the flesh with a fork.
  4. Mix the avocado, eggs, vanilla and water to form a smooth paste with no chunks (use a food processor if you have one!)
  5. Melt the chocolate by placing it in a glass bowl sitting over a saucepan of lightly simmering water, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water. Stir chocolate until melted and remove from heat.
  6. Add melted chocolate to the avocado mix and stir gently to combine. Do not over-mix as this will introduce too much air into your batter.
  7. Add cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and salt and mix again until just combined. If the mixture is too thick, another tablespoon of water.
  8. Scoop mixture into the lined baking pan, ensuring it is spread out to the edges and that the top is smooth.
  9. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes until cooked through (test this by checking that a skewer or knife comes out clean if inserted into the brownies).
  10. Allow to cool at room temperature before spreading icing on top with a palette knife or spatula.
  11. Chill brownies in fridge before eating.

For the creamy icing

  1. Peel avocado, remove stone and mash flesh with a fork. Place into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add lemon juice and vanilla extract.
  3. Add icing sugar bit by bit, mixing slowly as you go (by hand or with a mixer) until all icing sugar has been added and you have a spreadable icing.
  4. Taste and add more sugar if needed.

Poor Kate Middleton! As if it isn’t bad enough being followed around and papped everywhere you go, a magazine has now made her look like a zombie with some very dodgy Photoshop!

Australian magazine, Women’s Day, have gone viral for all the wrong reasons after they altered a photo of the Duchess to make her look almost unrecognisable.

The original photo was perfect, before they decided to change her eyes, complexion and even her cheeks it would appear!

We’re not sure the Duchess is going to be entirely happy with her brand new look – we know we wouldn’t be!

This isn't the first time Kate and her family have been subjected to unnecessary Photoshop with the public blasting Vanity Fair when they altered an image of Kate, Prince William and Prince George several months ago.

Can't. Stop. Watching.

Ellen DeGeneres may have turned 57 yesterday, but she certainly didn't look it as she walked the beach with her wife Portia DeRossi.

The legendary TV host took to Twitter to share a sweet picture of herself and Portia enjoying a sunset stroll in California with the caption, "My last sunset of 56 with my favourite person."

What an adorable couple! Both ladies posed make-up free for the shot, but they were more than glowing with those gorgeous smiles.

Ellen and Portia have been together since 2004, and they married in Beverly Hills in 2008, shortly after California's ruling against same-sex marriage was overturned.

The Ellen Show's 13th season kicked off yesterday, with Keith Urban, Olivia Munn and Joe Biden showing up to pass on their birthday wishes to the presenter. Actress Olivia even brought trays of take-away food as a 57th birthday gift:

Now that's a present we can get on board with!

Ah, boyfriends. The good, the bad and the…amazing! If it wasn’t for those rare amazing breeds, trust us we would have given up on dating long ago!

How many of these lovely characters have you been lucky enough to encounter?

The cringy-teenage boyfriend
This is the one you look back on and cringe to your very core. And so you should. In a very "will you shift my friend" encounter, you guys went out for a whole TWO months! The relationship consisted of texting, ignoring each other in person and meeting up at 3:30pm every day behind the art shed for a shift. True love.

The bad-boy
You worshipped the ground he walked, underage drank and smoked on and thought he was legitimately the coolest human being on the planet. Your parents on the other hand, didn’t agree very much. And guess what? They were right!

The passionate infatuation
You thought it was love because you were actually obsessed with this person. However, the passionate, rage-filled fights eventually took over and it was never going to work. Was it really love, or just lust? You’re still not sure.

The one who got away
This was true love. But for whatever reason, things just didn’t work out for you guys and you often catch yourself thinking about him from time to time.

The one
You may have met him already, maybe not. But you’ll know when you do. What makes it feel so different to your other relationships? Well, it’s that it doesn’t feel different – he’s like an extension of yourself and that’s why it will work.

Kylie Jenner might only be 17, but she's already got a legion of female fans who envy her killer body.

As well as showing off her (ridiculously) larger-than-life lips, the KUWTK teen is also a fan of midriff-baring selfies – in fact, here's one she posted mere hours ago!

So how does the youngest Jenner keep those washboard abs? Well, turns out we should all be VERY jealous, as she's revealed she puts in virtually no effort and loves nothing more than eating piles of junk.

Oh, great.

"My mom always has so many sweets and so much candy around the house," Kylie said in a recent interview. "Every time someone comes over they're always like, ‘How are you not majorly obese in this house? There are so many sweets.' But my mom just loves her sweets."

So, does Kylie hit the gym after sneaking into the sweet cupboard? Well, not exactly… but luckily she has her dad's Olympic athlete genes to keep her slim.

"I eat so bad right now," she said. "I eat so many sweets and so much candy but it's the Bruce Jenner genes. I have to start working out very soon."

Unlike Kylie, Khloé and Kourtney, the Jenner sisters didn't inherit their mum's curves – just her sense of drama!

Police in the US are investigating an assault charge against actor Emile Hirsch, after an incident on Sunday night.

The Into The Wild star was at a Sundance Film Festival after-party in Utah's TAO nightclub when he got into an altercation with a female film executive.

Police were called to the nightclub at around 3.30am and although no arrest was made, Emile was questioned by police until around 5am.

"Emile Hirsch got into a fight with an executive at Paramount at TAO Sundance," an insider told Us Weekly "and the executive was looking into pressing charges against Emile."

The woman reportedly asked security to call the police after the incident occurred. "Something happened between the movie exec and Emile, and she said she had been assaulted and asked security to call the police," the source told Page Six. "Emile didn’t leave the scene, and calmly waited for the police to arrive, and spoke with them until around 5 a.m., after which he went home with his friends."

Another source said that the incident was very out of character for Emile. "He’s a really nice guy. I can’t imagine he’d be involved in anything like this," said one friend.

29-year-old Emile is currently at Sundance to promote his new coming-of-age drama Ten Thousand Saints, which also stars Hailee Steinfeld.
