Fifi Geldof has spoken out about her battle with depression, which she says has hit her "full whack" since her sister Peaches died from a heroin overdose back in April.

The 31-year-old took to Instagram last night to talk about her struggle. "You can’t escape it, it just simmers under the surface," she said. "People wouldn’t have the first clue of it to look at me or talk to me, though."

PR executive Fifi said she has become good at hiding her true feelings from others. "I wear a permanent mask so I won’t be judged for feeling how I actually feel."

Though she has suffered from depression for a number of years, Fifi’s condition has understandably worsened since the death of her sister. However, it was Robin William’s recent suicide that prompted Fifi to open up to her fans.

Alongside a picture of Robin, Fifi wrote, “Depression needs to be taken more seriously. No-one should feel pushed to those actions by their all-encompassing misery.”

She later explained why she had spoken out, saying her posts were “a feeble attempt to bring some more awareness and understanding to something that oughtn't be surrounded by such stigma.”

We’ve seen David Attenborough take on man-eating snakes, lions, tigers and sharks… but never has he dealt with the most terrifying species of all… the Human Fangirl.

This bizarre breed of teenager comes in many varieties. Beliebers, One Directioners, Twi-Hards… you get the drift.

Well, some cleverclogs has decided it’s about time the BBC presenter discovered this most unusual phenomenon, and has created a hilarious video with Attenborough’s voice narrating scenes from a fangirl-filled music festival. Enjoy the madness!

Last night, an open-air screening of Dead Poet’s Society took place in Merrion Square, Dublin, in memory of Robin Williams.

Huge amounts of people turned out to pay tribute to the late actor at the event, which was organised by mental health charity Headstrong in aid of Pieta House.

The most memorable part of the event, though, happened right at the end. At the climax of the film during the “O Captain, My Captain” scene as Robin leaves the room and the boys show their support by standing on tables, crowds of people got to their feet for a standing ovation.

Watch the famous scene for the film for yourself below. Robin, you will be missed.

The new college year is fast approaching, and if you’re anything like us, you’re probably lying awake at night making a mental list of all the ways this semester is going to be different. For example:

You not going to miss ANY lectures
Of course not. It’s going to be a golden year – you can feel it in your bones.

You’re going to wear lovely clothes every day
No more hoodies and tracksuit bottoms – it’ll be pretty dresses and funky tops from here on in. As for your hair? Never again will you utter the words “sure it’ll be alright till I get home” as you pick up the can of dry shampoo.

No more stupid boys
You’re going to be all about your studies this year – there is NO way any evening will be wasted pining over some boy you barely know. You are SO over that.

You’ll be the most organised person in the world
You’ve already stocked up on folders and dividers, not to mention an array of pens in all the colours of the rainbow. And highlighters too!

You’ll keep your handwriting super neat
No more struggling to read your own handwriting come exam time – and no more doodling either!

No more parties on weeknights
Sure you’ll be too busy with all the study, and exercise too, of course.

You’ll cook proper meals
You hadn’t realised how malnourished you were ‘till you came home for the summer. That won’t happen again though – you’ve bought a cookbook!

You’ll make that guy fall in love with you
Scratch that third one – with all the healthy eating, exercise and beautiful clothes, that guy is SURE to form a little crush – this year is going to be GREAT!

Apparently Shakespeare’s play Macbeth is cursed, and if you say the name inside a theatre disaster will strike – but does anyone really believe it?

Well, it looks like Michael Fassbender does! The Kerryman said that there were some spooky occurrences on the set of his new film Macbeth, and that’s what made the cast and crew change the name to The Scottish Play while inside the theatre.

“Certain things that made one think ‘oh my god’. So at a certain point we changed it to The Scottish Film.

“You are evoking darker spirits, or the underworld, whatever you want to call it.”

Fassbender says he’s not the superstitious kind, so it must have been something pretty scary to freak him out!

We can’t say we blame them for changing the name – better safe than sorry and all that!

After years of dominating the tastebuds of the Irish through their takeaways and ready meals, Bombay Pantry has now been officially recognised as a powerhouse for flavour.

In what is known as the “Oscars of food”, the Great Taste Awards are the benchmark for quality food in Ireland and the UK.

In the most recent awards, Bombay Pantry won three stars for its dishes – with each star signifying a “virtually faultless food”. The three winning dishes were Bombay Chicken Curry, Butter Chicken Masala and the Butter Masala sauce.

In contrast to most takeaways, Bombay Pantry pride themselves on their healthy food. It has no MSG, no preservatives and 99% of the food is gluten free. The 1% are the obviously wheaty things, like naan bread. They also have a superfood and a paleo section. Yum.

And now we're hungry.

Remember Fr. Ray Kelly, that priest who won the hearts of a nation after he sang a beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ during a couple’s wedding ceremony?

Well, he’s after getting himself a record deal!

Universal Music Ireland have teamed up with the singing priest and he’s been busy writing and recording songs for his debut album, which is due to be released at Christmas.

He’s made sure his new musical lifestyle won’t get in the way of his religious duties though, as the record company have built him a studio in his parochial house on Co. Meath!

Maybe we could send him to the Eurovision next year, singing a rendition of ‘My Lovely Horse’. Sure it’d be a bit of a laugh at the very least!

In a long term relationship it can be easy to forget to romance your partner. For guys it’s a bit easier – the old standard of flowers and chocolates never goes amiss.

Some girls may expect to sit there and be adored but in the age of equality don’t forget that it’s a two-way street. You can’t just expect him to woo you, you have to woo him back.

Here are a few things you can do to show him you care.

Hide things in his pockets

Ok, so this may seem like something a cat would do, but trust us it works.

Next time he’s over, hide a few of his favourite sweets or a little note in his jacket pocket. After he leaves he’ll find it and smile thinking about you.

Make him his favourite food

It’s such a cliché that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but it’s sadly true. It’s a simple way to show someone that you pay attention to what they like, and that you are willing to go to a bit of effort to make them happy.

Hopefully his favourite food isn’t Kobe beef.

Indulge his geeky side

Most guys have something that they have a geeky passion for, be it Dungeons and Dragons or football statistics. Even if it bores you to tears, the fact that your love is passionate about something is enough reason to make an effort.

So next time he starts talking about his level twelve rogue Halfling and how he got a critical miss while rolling for dungeoneering – listen. Ask questions. Surprise him with new dice.

The delight from having both a Warhammer army and a girlfriend will win him over forever.

We are constantly bombarded with amazing before and after shots in ads online – usually trying to sell us a dodgy diet product.

Before you get too jealous however, some Instagrammers have revealed just how easy it is to fake these kinds of shots.

Using a combination of lighting, angles and good old fashion sucking in their stomachs, you can look like you’ve been in a six month bootcamp in just seconds.

The fake transformation shots were started by a Melbourne based fitness trainer called Mel, who wanted to highlight the difference between the media images we are presented and normal bodies.

“I want to make it clear that there are definitely some very impressive, genuine physical transformations out there,” Mel explained.

"What I do take issue with are the transformations that are manipulated with Photoshop, professional lighting, postures to degrade or enhance their look, pro tans, sucking in or pushing out a bloated belly or flexing muscles vs. not flexing to obtain an optimal look."

What Mel wants to promote is lifelong health and fitness, not the crash diets and exercise regimes that unrealistic before and after shots encourage.

“Forget about the quick transformations and focus on a life of healthy eating, well-managed stress levels, quality sleep and plenty of movement. Spend time with people who have similar goals and values and take time to appreciate yourself the way you are right now. Don't beat yourself up if you eat a cookie, just enjoy that cookie and everything else life has to offer."

Bravo!

Dyeing your hair is not an easy decision, especially when it is your first time.

So when it comes to deciding on which colour to choose, bear in mind these tips:

Find out your natural look
This can be tricky, especially if you have been dyeing your hair for a long time, but try to remember!

Think about your lifestyle
Before you go too wild, keep in mind how your new look will fit in with your lifestyle – job, college, etc. Don’t go purple if you’ll just end up with a stern warning from your boss – it’s totally not worth it.

Do a tester
If you have finally decided on a shade, try it out before you go permanent. You can pick up a wash out dye kit fairly cheaply and it will mean if the colour really isn’t right you can change it.

Think of your skin tone
Always keep in mind your skin tone when deciding on a colour. If you are pale, avoid going for a shade that will wash you out.

Go a shade lighter
When you have finally decided on a colour, always choose one shade lighter than you want. It will come out darker than the picture on the box.

We love a good selfie as much as the rest of them, but the craze has gotten a bit out hand lately (we think Kim K's book of selfies was the tipping point). So, in a bid to crack down on the culture of vanity, Central Park was turned into a ‘No Selfie Zone’ – at least for a while!

Comedian and writer Jena Kingsley put up ‘No Selfie Zone’ signs around the park and dressed up in a uniform, claiming to be the 'selfie police'. She then patrolled the area, and told people that the only way of getting out of the $50 fine was to delete the picture in front of her – and of course, the whole thing was caught on a hidden camera, for your viewing pleasure.

We know this was just a prank, but we’re starting to think it wouldn’t actually be a bad idea!
