While London usually nabs all the best and biggest movie events – a host of stars went north to Edinburgh yesterday for the glitzy, red-carpet premiere of Macbeth.

Unsurprisingly, handsome Irish lads Michael Fassbender and Jack Reynor were suited and booted, looking particularly dapper for the occasion.

However, (and while yes, we're certainly impressed with the film's leading males), it has to be noted that Jack's model fiancee very possibly stole the show.

Donning a dramatic fur and leather collared gown, Madeline Mulqueen, 25, ensured that all eyes were on her as she posed up for the waiting photographers.

Earlier in the day the Limerick-native had taken to Instagram to share a snap of her stunning red-carpet make-up.

Then last night she shared a second adorable picture of her and Jack, 23, gazing at one-another along with the caption: "Couldn't be more proud of this man."

Meanwhile, speaking to the waiting media, Kerryman Mr Fassbender revealed that he was delighted to be in Scotland: "We were lucky enough to film a bit up here and I was here in 2006 doing a play at the Fringe Festival so I love being back.

"I love the city – its architecture and the really great people," he added.

Earlier in the day, Michael, Jack and the rest of the Macbeth cast – which includes Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, and The Great Gatsby’s Elizabeth Debicki as Lady Macduff – had stepped out for a photo call at Edinburgh Castle.

Last week, Mr Reynor, who plays Malcolm in the movie, revealed: "I don't have a huge role in this film, but it was great to just be on that set and observe these incredible actors," he said, in particular referring to 38-year-old Mr Fassbender.

"Michael has got great charisma and he's a brilliant actor. We had some great career conversations, and he's certainly full of great advice.

"I'm looking forward to grabbing a pint with him soon."

Apparently Shakespeare’s play Macbeth is cursed, and if you say the name inside a theatre disaster will strike – but does anyone really believe it?

Well, it looks like Michael Fassbender does! The Kerryman said that there were some spooky occurrences on the set of his new film Macbeth, and that’s what made the cast and crew change the name to The Scottish Play while inside the theatre.

“Certain things that made one think ‘oh my god’. So at a certain point we changed it to The Scottish Film.

“You are evoking darker spirits, or the underworld, whatever you want to call it.”

Fassbender says he’s not the superstitious kind, so it must have been something pretty scary to freak him out!

We can’t say we blame them for changing the name – better safe than sorry and all that!

Michael Fassbender has undergone a dramatic transformation for his role in Macbeth.

The actor looks smouldering and different in the upcoming movie, which also stars Marion Cotillard.

While there is no release date for the movie yet, footage was shown at the Cannes Film Festival this week.

This isn’t the first film that Michael looks completely different in as he has recently starred in the Irish film, Frank, in which the actor wears a large masked head for the duration of the movie.
