Protecting your hair from the harsh winter elements can be tricky at best, but we’ve got you covered. Think of us like cuddly pals who are strangely obsessed with keeping your hair flawless in winter.

From static frizz to brittle split ends, there are all kinds of reasons why Christmas season wreaks havoc on hair.

Hat-head aftermath and cashmere-caused static are two major culprits, but applying heat to your locks from blow-drying wet hair also leads to trouble in hair paradise.

"How do I go from Coldilocks to Snow Queen this Christmas?", we hear you ask.

Introducing our cheat sheet for your winter hair:

1. DON’T leave your house with wet hair, this is a one way trip to Flu Land. Wet hair can also break easily if it’s frozen from the drop in temperature, just don’t do it gals.

2. Try to keep a balanced temperature in your home so you don’t have massive shocks when you leave the house or come in from work: this can irritate both your skin and scalp.

3. Turn the hot water in your shower down just a tad, your hair will thank you later.

In the winter, we all crave scalding hot showers to allow our bodies to regulate its temperature after spending all day in the cold, but hot water isn’t good for your hair, it actually dehydrates it.

By keeping it just above lukewarm, you’ll prevent having dry skin and scalp. Keep the moisture in your mane, huns.

To prevent those precious oils from escaping, we recommend Argan oil products. Acure Organics Moroccan Argan Oil has ingredients like buckthorn oil and pumpkin seed oil, which are both rich in fatty acids for retaining moisture.

4. Coconut oil is also renowned for treating dry and brittle hair in winter. Use 100% organic coconut oil from your local health foods shop and spot the difference in time for Santa to make it down the chimney.

5. John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7-Day Treatment targets deflated hair fibres—plumping them up for days, some say it even lasts a week. John Frieda, you Christmas angel.

6. Use heat protection before blow drying your hair, try Tresemmé Keratin Smooth 7 Day System Heat Activated Treatment. It’s heat-activated, which means the substance is offering a semi-permanent solution to that crown of stray hairs. MAGICAL.

7. OUR TOP TIP: We are absolutely WORSHIPPING Santa’s little hairdryer right now: LanaiBLO.

Keep your hair dry and bouncy with volume by using the Limited Edition Rose Gold LanaiBLO.

Let it snow then let it blow, we say. They promise to keep your hair shimmering and shiny with an ultra sleek finish, it’s also an ideal gift for your loved ones if you’re stuck for a present.

However, this hairdryer is so gorge that you’ll most likely want to keep it all to yourself… we know we do.

It’s lightweight, has an ultra long cord so you can dry your hair without having to linger near the plug socket and comes in three colours; pretty-in-pink, snow white and midnight black.

It’s technology works to seal in moisture and counteract frizz, leaving those locks more stylish than ever for all those Christmas parties and celebrations.

Those of us who still have a 90's heavyweight hairdryer will know the struggle of trying to dry your hair with the equivalent of a minor breeze. *sigh*

Holly Willoughby, Dani Dyer, Made in Chelsea’s Binky and Rosie, Frankie Gaff, Una Healy, models Rosanna Davidson and Lottie Moss are among LanaiBlo's famous clients, and for a good reason.

editorial_headerBlake Lively, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian: just a few of the names that come to mind when we think of thick, voluptuous, va va voom hair.

However, for those with thin, limp, lifeless locks, falling curls can be an everyday struggle. Still, and while transforming fine hair into a luxurious work of art isn’t always easy, it CAN be done.

We have outlined the simple steps in our Get The Look: Volume video to help you achieve fabulous, long-lasting volume.

  1. Wash hair with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Shampoo & Conditioner. This will help maintain all day volume and bounce, making the hair manageable without weighing it down.
  2. Next, apply TRESemmé Volume & Lift Mousse to the roots of the damp hair, to provide superior natural looking volume. Use a comb to make sure the mousse has been spread out evenly throughout the roots.
  3. Blow dry to 70 percent dry and section the hair off into 2-3cm wide sections.
  4. Blow dry with a large roller brush and put rollers in immediately after, while the hair is still hot.
  5. Next, spray the hair with TRESemmé Ultimate Hold Hair Spray. Allow the hair to cool around the rollers and set.
  6. Take out rollers, starting with the first roller put in and lightly tease the hair at the root. This will add extra volume and help the style to hold for longer.
  7. Finally, gently comb the hair through to the ends.

And there you go, say hello to big hair! Limp locks will now be a thing of the past and you’ll never have to worry about your tresses looking dull and lifeless again.

editorial_headerDying to give that celebrity bob a try – but not ready to get the chop just yet? Most people with longer locks feel that the only way to get short hair is to cut it. Not so!

The faux bob mimics the style of an actual bob, without having to resort to a drastic chop. It’s no surprise then that numerous celebrities are working this look on the red carpet: it’s classic; it’s chic – and it’s great for anyone who is considering going shorter, but would rather give it a trial-run first.

This look is particularly simple and easy to create with the help of the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth range and a few bobby pins/hair grips.

  1. Wash hair the night before using Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner to help transform hair, leaving it smooth and more manageable for up to 48 hours.
  2. Split the hair into sections and lightly curl with a straightener. Don’t worry if the sections aren’t exactly even.
  3. Next, back comb these sections to create a base for the clips to grip to. Once you are finished back combing, brush the hair through until smooth.
  4. Separate a small bit of hair at the front of the head, and apply TRESemmé Volume & Lift Mousse to the ends of the remainder of the hair. This will give the hair texture and help the style hold for longer.
  5. Place two bobby pins in a criss-cross at the bottom of the hair, roll the hair up to the nape of the neck and pin in place using extra pins. Using the hair that you left to the front of the head, twist it lightly and tuck under at the nape of the neck with the rest of the hair. If you have layers, create the Lea Michele style faux bob by leaving some curls to hang by the front of your face.
  6. Pin bobby pins throughout the hair to create texture and to secure the style.
  7. Finally, finish the style with TRESemmé Ultimate Hold Hair Spray, for 24 hour protection against frizz and flyaways.

And there you have it! You’ve mastered the SHEmazing! faux bob; the perfect style for genuine looking short hair without committing to chopping it all off.

editorial_headerAround for years, but still as fashionable as ever; we love braids! Whether it’s a classy fishtail version or festival boho style, the possibilities are endless.

And they work great with long and short haired alike – being quickly and easily created by using the right products.

Check out our Get The Look video below and follow our simple steps for creating the ultimate summer braid.

  1. Start by using silicone free TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Shampoo and Conditioner. This cleanses and moisturises the hair without weighing it down, making it perfect prep for styling.
  1. Roughly part three sections of hair and braid from the hairline to just above the nape of the neck.
  1. Secure the braids at the end with clear elastics and bobby pins. Repeat the process on the remaining sections of the hair.
  1. Take the remaining hair and begin to braid, securing at the end with clear elastics.
  1. Finish with TRESemmé Extra Hold Hair Spray to achieve maximum hold with extra flyaway control. It is humidity resistant leaving no stiffness or stickiness, but with flexible hold.
  1. Finally, tease out the braids to give them more of a loose-laidback look. And hey presto! you are now all set for whatever activities you have planned this summer.

editorial_headerLooking effortlessly natural is easily achievable with the right hairstyle. Whether you are heading to the gym or just to the cinema, the ponytail is always a handy go-to hairstyle.

But for more glam events, why not really take the ponytail to the next level? A textured look adds instant elegance to any outfit and this simple but sophisticated style can be seen everywhere this season: just look at Gigi Hadid!

  1. Wash the hair with TRESemmé 24 hour Body Shampoo & Conditioner to help maintain all day volume and bounce, making the hair manageable without weighing it down.
  2. Start at the crown, take 2-3cm-wide sections and softly backcomb from the root. Backcombing will give the hair texture and that edgy-raised shape, an eye-catching look that we commonly see in fashion.
  3. When you have finished backcombing, comb the hair back in the direction that the hair sits and lightly brush the hair into position.
  4. Place bobby pins on either side of the hair bobbin and hold the ponytail tightly in place. Place one of the pins in behind the hand and wrap the bobbin around the hair as tight as possible and pin the second one in to hold the ponytail tightly in place.
  5. From ear to ear, tease the hair out in small sections of the hair to create that volumised look. Then take 1cm of hair to wrap around and conceal the bobbin, this will also add an element of elegance to the hairstyle.
  6. Lift the ponytail and shake while misting the hair with with TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray infused with sea kelp extract. This helps you create a sexy, tousled texture in every stand.
  7. Finally secure the style with TRESemmé Ultimate Hold Hair Spray.

Now you can transform your plain ponytail to a party ponytail! Whether you have straight, curly, thin, dry or oily hair, this is definitely one hair style you should be trying out this summer.

Hair envy is a terrible affliction – and a bad dose is tough to shake off.

We’ve all had it at times: looking longingly at a celebrity’s perfectly smooth ponytail; coveting a colleague’s lovely locks; wishing we too were in possession of our mate’s shiny, smooth tresses.

And particularly at this time of year, beating frizz and achieving silky locks is a major issue. Suffice to say too, it’s tough to take on your favourite celebrity styles when your mane is less than magnificent.

Whether it’s parched from over-styling, from too much harsh colouring, from genetics (thanks, mum) or simply from a lack of TLC, fuzzy, frizzy, unruly hair is, well, the worst.

Still, a handful of simple tips can really go a long way, namely:

  • Never towel dry your hair after washing it – gently squeeze out excess water instead
  • Don’t put wet hair into a pony-tail
  • Use the right products
  • Opt for a comb to initially work out any knots, then move on to a brush for styling
  • If you can, try and avoid using heated styling products every day

But finding seriously slick products that work wonders can be a pickle in itself.

Which is why we’re as keen as mustard about TRESemmé’s 7 Day Keratin Smooth range.

In short, it’s a breakthrough, non-damaging, smoothing system that lasts through washes: a total of three washes, in fact. That’s up to seven days of incredibly smooth, sleek hair.

As well as the Shampoo and Conditioner, don’t forget TRESemmé’s 7-day Keratin Smooth Heat Activated Treatment – which has just become our essential summer hair product.

It works a treat with straighteners to prevent frizz: using the heat of your flat iron, it transforms unruly tresses into salon-smooth hair that still lasts for up to a week.

Make sure to watch the video clip below too for top TRESemmé tips to get the most out of your 7-day Keratin Smooth products.

We’ve ALL been there: you’re running late; you slept in; you have 20-minutes flat to get yourself ready, get out the door and be somewhere where you’re required to look respectable.

Which is why we’d be oh-so lost without a trusty bottle of dry shampoo.

And we’re not alone either: sales have rocketed over the last five years as savvy women everywhere strive to get that extra day (or two!) from their style.

Because, understandably, when you spend the best part of an hour straightening, curling, fixing and perfecting every strand, you want to see it last longer than 24 hours.

But while dry shampoos definitely breathe life into limp locks and let you skip a shower, these top tips will most certainly go a long way to really nailing your technique:

  • Shake the dry shampoo bottle vigorously before use (and also between sprays)
  • Lift sections of dry hair and spray lightly at the roots using short bursts; aim to hold the bottle around 20-30cm from your head
  • Leave the product to settle for one minute, then use your fingertips to massage it in
  • Then brush it out and style as usual

There are plenty of brands to choose from, but our pick is most certainly TRESemmé’s Instant Refresh Volumising Dry Shampoo.

Infused with mineral clay and citrus, it revives fine, limp hair and – of course – removes excess oil and impurities. Furthermore, it helps to eliminate any lingering odours, leaving hair perfectly revitalised.

Indeed, when Instant Refresh is sprayed at your roots, the fine mist refreshes without leaving behind ANY visible residue.

And even if your tresses are freshly-washed, TRESemmé has developed a product which is also fantastic for creating lots of body and movement – without weighing down your hair.

Frankly, it’s a product we just couldn’t live without.

Flat, dull, lifeless locks – we’ve ALL been there.

“Oh just do overnight rollers,” one well-meaning friends declares. “A paddle-brush will do it,” advises another. “Have you tried back-combing the roots?” a colleague with particularly luscious locks states.

Yes, yes, and YES – you’ve tried it all and next-to nothing works.

But sometimes having flatter hair is merely a matter of getting more inventive with your tresses – as well as making sure absolutely that you’re using the correct products.

Here are our top tips for giving every strand a lift:

  • Lots of conditioner on your roots will only weigh down your hair
  • Dry your hair completely before leaving the house
  • Approach a fringe with caution
  • Tip your head upside down and blow-dry it that way
  • Use mousse or hairspray to achieve a natural lift

And when it comes to choosing hair-care products wisely, TRESemmé’s 24 Hour Body range is the business.

If you suffer from a lack of body (yup), dryness (guilty as charged) and dullness (sadly so) then 24 Hour Body will change your world.

In fact, you can let your hair bounce back, bold and full.

The Shampoo and Conditioner works via TRESemmé’s unique Volume Control Complex, while silk proteins help to condition. Better still, your hair won’t fall flat and the products are light enough to use every day.

Big, bouncy, bold, beautiful hair? Yes, please!
