Mexican Burrito Bar Boojum has unveiled its plans to launch a new 100% plant-based dish this January, offering those conscious consumers participating in the increasingly popular Veganuary movement, a tasty, meat free meal choice.

The limited time only offering is a tasty Sweet Potato & Lentil dish packed full of nutritional goodness and is sure to be a welcome warming option on cold January days. Served with Pickled Onions, Guacamole and Vegan Sour Cream, this superfood dish delivers on the full flavour Boojum is famous for.

Launching this Tuesday, January 7, customers will be able to enjoy the new dish in their burritos, bowls or tacos in any of the brand’s 18 stores across the Island of Ireland.

While Boojum, due to its fully customisable nature, has catered to vegans since opening in 2007, the leading Irish fast-casual restaurant brand has been getting creative and experimenting with their menu over the last year. 2019 saw the launch of two limited time only vegan dishes, Mexican Spiced Butternut Squash and 3 Bean Chilli, the latter which has been reinstated as a permanent menu fixture due to popular demand, and some very vocal social media supporters.

Paul McCullagh, Boojum Marketing Manager said “We’re in tune with our customers and listening to their feedback, along with monitoring industry trends, it’s very clear that the demand for plant-based vegan meal options is increasing. We know within our own business, vegetarian meals are now our second most ordered dish. So continued menu experimentation and expansion, such as this new Sweet Potato & Lentil offering is vital for us to stay relevant and continue to satisfy customers.”

So whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian or simply giving Veganuary a go, Boojum’s new Sweet Potato & Lentil dish aims to make it that little bit easier, and a whole lot more interesting.

Burrito babes Boojum are putting the spotlight on skyrocketing student rent prices with their new campaign, which lets one lucky student win a life-changing college prize.

The franchise is going above and beyond for its student customers. The food brand is highlighting the serious issue of student rent, with the food company offering the chance to win free rent for one year.

With students heading back to college over the last few weeks, they're facing another year of trying to balance study, examinations and social lives. Many take up part-time work to help their living costs.

The rents in Dublin are ever-increasing and add to the worsening homelessness crisis in the city daily.

David Maxwell, Boojum’s Managing Director commented on the campaign:

“We’re on the side of students, always aiming to deliver real value every day for them, but we knew we could take it beyond burritos. Almost fifty percent of our workforce is made up of third-level students so we’re really conscious of the pressures that they’re under.

“From speaking with our students, increasing rent really is one of the biggest issues for them and is a distraction that they don’t need."

"That’s the thinking behind this promotion; if we can help one student this year by taking the pressure of rent off their mind, then we’ve done something positive,” he added.

Boojum has become known for its ties with students, whether it's the exam season burrito boosts or part-time jobs. The new campaign looks at the struggles students face financially nationwide as tuition fees rise.

Boojum is duplicating typical ‘To Let’ signs that line the streets in popular student areas in all university cities, announcing the chance to win free rent.

The food company has also turned two restaurant windows into Estate Agent windows, with listings available from €0.

According to the National Union of Students in Ireland (USI), colleges are increasing campus accommodation costs by as much as 11.5 percent.

Boojum aims to solve this problem for one lucky student, freeing up much-needed cash to help pay tuition fees and household bills.

Whether your Easter traditions involve a raucous family egg hunt or enjoying the cut-price Easter eggs in the days following the chocolatey celebrations, one thing is for sure: Easter is one indulgent holiday.

Many families go all out and do a big roast dinner to mark the occasion, or simply fill up on delicious chocolate.

To honour the Easter weekend, one popular Mexican mecca on Irish soil is melding the sweet and the savoury into a very intriguing Frankenfood.

The avocado pizza, the cronut, the carrot latte and the unicorn anything dominated the 2017 frankenfood trend charts.

In 2018, we saw the eggs benedict doughnut, the crossushi and salted watermelon.

2019 kicked off with the sushi sandwich, and now another iconic food pairing has been blended.

Boojum has a massive Irish fan base, with their burritos making the 4th most ordered dish globally on Deliveroo in 2018, and the food favourite has risen again to create a bespoke miracle for Easter.

Teaming up with an Easter classic, the Cadbury's Cream Egg, Boojum's speciality team at Quesadillas by Boojum have collaborated to concoct the Cadbury's Cream Egg Quesadilla.

The traditional Mexican flat bread has been reimagined to host the sweet treat, as well as a generous helping of the sumptuous Cream Egg goo poured over top. Is that the unmistakable sound of growling stomachs we hear?

Joe Groves at Deliveroo says: It is a privilege to partner with the amazing team at Quesadillas by Boojum to bring this bizarre creation directly to our customers’ doorsteps or desks.'

'Two things we absolutely love in Ireland are Boojum and chocolate, and since our creativity knows no bounds, we thought, ‘why not bring these two together?' they finished.

If this sounds like something that would be right up your alley, here's how to get your hands on one:

The Creme Egg Quesadillas will be available exclusively from the Deliveroo app or website during Easter.

They launch on Wednesday, April 17th and are available to order up until Easter weekend – with Quesadillas by Boojum of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Belfast and Derry all participating.

If you're not feeling like cooking over Easter, this could be the perfect treat to satiate the salivating family you might have around, or if you will be spending the holiday solo, it could be ideal for a quiet night in foodie experience.

The dish is priced at €9.50 (ROI) and £7.50 (NI) respectively – happy hunting.

We know Ireland has an obsession with burritos, but this is still a major deal given our population.

Boojum has some of the world's most loyal customers as their burrito came in at an impressive fourth place in this year’s overall top ten dishes on Deliveroo around the world.

Flex those burrito muscles, as the dish bet off the likes of Bubble Tea from Hong Kong and a Poke Bowl from Amsterdam.

The winner that took the top spot on the list was Pad Thaï from Thaï at Home, Paris.

In second was a Cheeseburger from Five Guys, in London.

And in third came Sushi Lovers Poke Bowl from CALI-POKE in Dubai.

Overall, our nation is a clear lover of takeaway as we were featured eight times in the top 10 dishes ordered in 2018 around the world.

Seven of the eight restaurants were based in Dublin, the other one was a Satay (wok dish) from Xian Street Food, Galway.

So it seems the capital of the country enjoy nothing more than ordering their FAVE meal from the delivery service.

While noodles and Hawaiian poke bowls were ultra trendy this year, 2018 also saw healthy plant-based dishes grow in popularity – g'wan the vegans.

Although a firm FAVE during last year was pizza, which remained a top choice for food delivery around the world with five appearing in the top 100.

Looks like we'll have to have a burrito in celebration of Boojum's success – well done, lads.
