A baby who was found seriously injured under his mum in a room at Cork University Maternity Hospital has sadly passed away.

The newborn tragically died shortly before 7pm last night.

The baby boy was found in a serious condition on Monday morning, but despite their best efforts, the doctors were unable to save him.

It is understood that the mum, who has been named locally as Margaret Downey, was breastfeeding when the accident occurred.

She was also a mum to two other children.

The deaths of the young mum and her son are being treated as a tragic accident. A full investigation has been launched.

CUMH staff had checked on the new mum shortly before she was found. It is understood that she was not feeling unwell when they last spoke to her.

Our thoughts are with the family of Margaret Downey during this devastating time.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are set to tie the knot later this summer after they got engaged in October 2017.

The lovebirds had been dating for a little under a year before Joe got down on one knee and although fans were over the moon for the pair, many admitted they were quite surprised by the news.

At the time of their engagement, the Game of Thrones star was only 21-years-old. The actress recently  opened up about getting engaged at such a young age in an interview with Rolling Stone.

This didn’t phase Sophie because she said that she doesn’t feel like a normal 22-year-old.

She recently gushed about her beau to Glamour magazine: “A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness.”

She added: “That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am and find my happiness in things other than acting.”

Power to ya, Sophie.

Making Your Fridge Last for Years to Come

Your refrigerator is arguably the most important appliance in your kitchen. Without a well-maintained fridge, keeping perishables in edible condition for extended periods would be downright impossible. That being the case, it’s in your best interest to keep your fridge up and running for as long as possible. Not only can good fridge maintenance be a boon to your food supplies, but it can also prove tremendously beneficial to your personal finances. Anyone looking to get the most out of their refrigerator would be wise to heed the following tips.

Find a Dependable Maintenance Service

Even the most reliable refrigerators need a little bit of maintenance every now and then. No matter how dependable your fridge is, the fact that it works harder than virtually any other appliance in your home practically guarantees the occasional malfunction. Therefore, it pays to be acquainted with a dependable refrigerator repair and maintenance service. A seasoned professional will be able to identify a broad spectrum of problems and fix minor issues before they have a chance to develop into more pressing problems. Even if you haven’t experienced periodic fridge hiccups, it’s recommended that you have a maintenance professional thoroughly inspect the device once every six months. This will ensure that potential problems are addressed in a timely manner and that any parts that have fallen into disrepair are promptly swapped out. When it comes to fridge maintenance, there’s a lot you can do on your own, but for certain tasks, there’s simply no substitute for a refrigerator repair professional.

Clean the Condenser Coils

Your refrigerator’s condenser coils play an essential role in the device’s overall functionality. As the name suggests, these components serve to condense refrigerant, thereby releasing heat. However, when condenser coils become dirty and clogged with assorted filth, undue pressure can be put on the compressor. This causes refrigerators to expend more energy, which stands to increase your power bills. Furthermore, the longer the compressor is pushed to its limit, the greater the likelihood of it breaking down.

You can nip this problem in the bud by cleaning your fridge’s condenser coils every three months. Before carrying out this task, take care to unplug your refrigerator. Next, affix a brush attachment to your vacuum cleaner and proceed to go over both the condenser coils and fan. Then, using a refrigerator coil brush, get any dirt, grime or pet hair that the vacuum cleaner couldn’t pick up.

Regularly Clean the Door Seal

One of the reasons refrigerators can preserve perishables for extended periods is the airtight seals found on their doors. However, these seals can gradually break down over time, thereby causing refrigerators to work even harder. If cool air is consistently escaping, your fridge will need to put forth extra energy to maintain your desired temperature. You can stay on top of this problem by cleaning your fridge’s door seals on a consistent basis. The more grime that accumulates in the door seal, the less equipped the seal is too do its job. Make a point of regularly wiping down the seal and replacing it as needed. If your fridge lasts long enough, there’s a good chance you’ll need to swap out the door seal at least once.

Clean the Interior

Cleaning your fridge’s interior on a regular basis comes with several benefits. For starters, it can go a long way in preventing the formation of bad smells. Few things are more disgusting than being hit with an unpleasant odor every time you open your refrigerator. Secondly, cleaning your fridge’s interior can help prevent mold, mildew and assorted germs from taking hold of your household’s primary means of food storage. For best results, clean the interior once a week, especially if your fridge houses a large amount of food.

As the star of your kitchen, your refrigerator plays a vitally important role in food storage. Given how important a working fridge is in any modern-day household and how expensive a reliable refrigerator can be, it’s only natural that you’d want to make yours last if possible. Fortunately, this is far from an uphill battle. Taking measures to keep your fridge in prime condition can save you a small fortune and ensure that you get the most out of your kitchen’s foremost MVP.

The Kardashians are always on top of the latest beauty trends, but this one is next level eccentric. From the 'vampire' facial that Kim made famous to micro-needling; the famous reality star family try some pretty out there beauty routines.

Kourtney shared an image of herself and Kim using an unusual face mark regime which absolutely TRANSFORMED their faces, and fans were alarmed to say the least. Their eyes and lips are completely contorted, and it's not a filter.

The gals were trying out the new Korean facial mask named Hanacure, which is meant to be some type of anti-ageing miracle of some sort.

"Kim convinced me to use this face mask and I feel stunning," Kourtney wrote to her Instagram followers.

38-year-old Kim and 39-year-old Kourtney manage to defy ageing, with skin products or money, and now they're giving their social media followers a good laugh at least with the latest one. The gel mask creates a zombified effect on the skin, hence the alarming response from fans.

The lifting serum works its magic presumably; their skin was soaking up the supposed renewing and rejuvenating effects.

The Hanacure Multi-Action Treatment Mask "promises to ‘dramatically transform the appearance of your skin" by removing impurities and dead skin cells from your pores.

You peel back the top of the square ‘gelling solution’ pot, pour in the vial of ‘purifying compound’ and shake until mixed, and then spread the mask over your skin with the brush provided.

Ironically, the face contorts and as the mask dries and tightens, it gives you wrinkles. You get older…trying to look younger. Picture Charlize Theron in Snow White and the Huntsman. We're glad Kourtney has a sense of humour about it at least…

Channing Tatum and Jessie J’s relationship is stronger than ever and it sounds like things are getting pretty serious between the pair.

The duo, who have been together for five months, are reportedly considering taking their relationship to the next level.

The Step Up actor was previously married to his co-star Jenna Dewan.

“He’s been married before so it’s not a scary topic for him and he’s certainly not afraid of commitment, while Jessie has been desperate to find The One for some time now after a few failed relationships, and she thinks Channing could be him. She’s pinching herself she’s so happy,” they shared.

The pair have been extremely private about their relationship so far but it sounds like things have been getting pretty serious since they first started dating late last year.

Dubliner Lighter Sweet Potato Taco Fries

Sweet potato tacos are a real favourite of mine at the moment, perfect for a lunchtime pick me up, they’re tasty and warming.  In fact, they would suit any meal time. This one is simple to pull together, and of course it’s with Dubliner Lighter cheese which has 33% less fat.

This recipe serves 4 and has 104 kcal / 100g

Ingredients

– For the fries

2 large or 3 medium sweet potatoes

Olive oil

Salt & pepper

– For the mince

500g beef mince

1 onion, roughly diced

1 carrot, finely diced

1 red chilli, roughly chopped

1 packet taco seasoning

2 tbsp

tomato purée

1 tsp salt

½ tsp ground black pepper

1 can kidney beans, drained

– To serve

Dubliner Lighter White, grated

Crème fraîche

Fresh chilli, sliced

Preheat oven to 200°C / 180°C fan assisted and line a baking tray with tinfoil. Cut sweet potato lengthways into wedges then loosely arrange on prepared baking tray. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt and a bit of pepper. Lightly toss.

Bake until cooked through, 15-20 minutes.

Meanwhile for the mince, heat a large pan over high heat, when hot drizzle with olive oil then add the mince. Cook until mince is browned.

Lower heat to medium then add the onion, carrot and chilli. Cook until the onions have softened, 2-3 minutes.

Add the taco seasoning, tomato purée, salt and pepper, stir through. Add the kidney beans then leave to simmer on low heat until the sweet potato fries are cooked.

Dubliner Stuffed Aubergine Boats

This is a brilliant way to include Aubergine in your diet, providing you with fibre, vitamins B1, B6 and potassium. They’re also full of antioxidants (the skin especially), so if you’re not already eating them, start now.

This recipe serves 4 and has 133 kcal / 100g

Ingredients

2 aubergines

Olive oil

1 red onion, roughly chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

½ tsp salt

125g cherry tomatoes, quartered

100g quinoa, cooked in vegetable stock

200g Dubliner Lighter Red Cheese, grated

Pine nuts, optional

Method

Pre-heat oven to 200°C / 180°C fan assisted and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Cut the aubergines in half lengthways. Using a sharp knife, cut a 1cm boarder inside aubergine halves, then use a spoon to help remove the flesh from the middle. Roughly dice the removed aubergine flesh and set aside.

Brush hollowed out aubergine boats with olive oil, place cut side up on the baking tray then bake for about 20 minutes until cooked and the edges are starting to char slightly.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Heat a large frying pan on medium high heat then drizzle with 1-2 tbsp olive oil. Add the diced aubergine and allow to brown slightly, stirring occasionally. Lower the heat to medium low and continue to cook until aubergine is mostly cooked through.

Add the onion, garlic and salt and cook until onion is tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in the cherry tomatoes and cooked quinoa, cook for further 5 minutes until tomatoes start to soften and release their juices. Remove from heat and stir in 150g of the grated Dubliner Lighter Red cheese.

Spoon filling into the roasted aubergine boats and sprinkle each with pine nuts (or any other seed of your choice) and the remaining 50g grated Dubliner Lighter Red cheese.

Return to the 200°C / 180°C fan assisted oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese on top has melted.

Serve immediately.

Dubliner Burrito Bowl

Don’t spend a fortune at lunchtime buying these – not only are they expensive, but they won’t taste half as good as the one you make yourself.

This recipe serves 4 and has 110 kcal / 100g

Ingredients

For the mince

2 tbsp olive oil

500g beef mince

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp cayenne pepper

1 (400g) can chopped tomato

1 (400g) can kidney beans, drained

250ml beef stock

Salt & pepper

For the salsa

4 tomatoes, seeds removed & finely chopped

¼ red onion, finely chopped

1 garlic clove, minced

1 tbsp fresh lime juice

½ red chilli, finely chopped (optional)

To assemble

4 portions cooked basmati rice

Cooked mince

2 avocados, sliced

Salsa

150g Dubliner Lighter Red Cheese

Sour cream

Fresh coriander, roughly chopped

Method

To cook the meat, heat pan on medium high heat. Add olive oil then add the mince. Break up large pieces with a fork and spread out over surface of the pan. Brown the meat, stirring occasionally.

Lower heat to medium then add the onion, cook for 1-2 minutes. Add the garlic and cook further 1 minute.

Stir in the cumin, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper. Add the chopped tomato, kidney beans and beef stock. Stir to combine, then leave to simmer on medium low heat until half of the liquid has been reduced, stirring occasionally. Between 15-20 minutes. Taste for seasoning, add salt & pepper as needed. Remove from heat.

While mince is cooking, make the salsa. Combine all salsa ingredients and stir together. Chill in the fridge until needed.

To assemble the burrito bowl, spoon a layer of cooked Basmati rice into serving bowls. Spoon cooked mince over about half of the rice, then spoon fresh salsa next to the mince, covering about 1/8 of the rice. Arrange half an avocado on top, then sprinkle generously with Dubliner cheese. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with sour cream on the side.

They did split briefly a few months ago and now Love Island winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham are taking things as slow as possible.

Dani now lives in Essex, close to dad Danny Dyer and mum Joanne Mas, while Jack has moved to South London.

Tbh, we think that its the mature thing to do.

She told Fabulous magazine, ''Things are more difficult in the real world. That's where you get to know the person and you learn their faults.''

She continued, ''On Love Island everything is done for you so you don't have to think about anything. Then suddenly you come home and you're arguing and bickering and silly things become an issue."

But it seems to be working for them as they are stronger than ever – and Dani is loving a bit of her own company.

She said, ''I can watch what I want – when Jack's there, he puts all these bird programmes on. When we buy a house, then we can decide where to live, but for the time being we've got to grow."

Sounds quite mature of them – and they are our faves so we hope they last forevaaaaaa.

From gallivanting across the globe with her modelling work to stunning us all with the perfect Insta outfit picture, former Miss Universe Ireland Joanna Cooper is definitely one of our favourite people to follow.

Showcasing behind the scenes details of her majorly successful modelling career, as well as nights on the town and travel excursions, the 25-year-old has almost 100,000 people following her career.

We chatted to the model ahead of her appearance at last week's Nasty Gals Do Dublin event, to get the suss on her attitudes to social media, her modelling motivators and what the hell she uses to get her skin that stunning:

A post shared by JO COOPS (@joannacoops) on

Working in modelling, Joanna is exposed to the full force of fashion influence, but maintains her classic, comfortable but chic look.

Describing her personal style as 'comfortable but cool,'  she often looks to social media for inspiration.

'I spend a lot of time on Pinterest looking at trends on there, and I get a lot of style inspiration off Instagram, the likes of Olivia Culpo (@oliviaculpo) – just people that show their everyday style, so then when you're travelling you can look to them for ideas. They always know how to make comfortable clothing look really chic.'

'I wear a lot of black and a lot of leather so anything that looks effortless but cool,' she finished, described her own look – and one glance at her Instagram is evidence enough.

The model is loving boiler suits as a trend this season, rocking a particularly edgy leather one-piece from Nasty Gal to the brand's Dublin event last week.

When it comes to fashion, the Derry native definitely has a look that screams off-duty model. From statement jackets to  perfectly fitting jeans, teamed with crop tops and simple separates, it's clearly a recipe that works. However, there is a trend that Coops isn't particularly fond of:

'I see everyone is wearing cycling shorts at the minute and I just cannot do it' she laughed. 'Not for me – they look fab on other people but I'm not feeling it.'

While fashion is clearly a strong suit for the gal, when we discovered we would be chatting to Joanna, one question immediately sprung to mind – her skincare routine.

Joanna is definitely renowned for having one of the most striking faces in the modelling industry, and a flawless complexion to match.

'I'm lucky that I don't have bad skin but its not amazing. What you see on instagram is a lot of products, and I think if you're going to invest in anything, invest in skincare because if you don't, then your makeup doesn't go on half as well and you're not addressing the problem underneath. I would invest in skincare and a good glowy highlight because then you can fake the glow.'

Stressing that she has never been sponsored by the brand, she revealed that her ultimate skincare hero product is the Alpha-H Liquid Gold – a glycolic resurfacing treatment toner. Joanna explains how using the toner every second night helps her to maintain her fresh faced glow.

A post shared by JO COOPS (@joannacoops) on

Despite her whopping 96k following on Instagram, Joanna does not consider herself a social media influencer. The key to striking the right balance between running her day to day, hectic modelling work alongside having an online presence is not forcing it.

'I just like to keep it natural. If im on set or doing a job ill post about it and that seems to gain the most interest for me,' she detailed.

'I wouldn't really consider myself as an influencer. but people seem to be interested in my work so I just try and share as much if that as possible.'

While for many, the positives of putting yourself out there online are freebies, endorsements and encouraging comments, for Joanna, what she gets out of the online community she has crafted is the opportunity to chat with people she would not otherwise meet.

'I like to get to interact with people that you wouldn't get to interact with in real life, and if anyone has any questions I try to answer them as much as I can,' she said.

And while being an influencer, or in Joanna's case, a model with a huge following, can bring many opportunities to the table, the pressures and negative aspects of social media can be vast. Luckily, Joanna has not had to deal with too much online animosity.

'If I want to post something, I will, but I wont be like "oh I have to post something on Insta" so maybe it's because I'm not on it all the time that I don't really see any negative stuff.'

'I feel like because it's not my main job, I have my main job and I just post about it, that I don't worry too much. But I completely understand (the pressure) when it's your bread and butter to keep up with posts but because its not for me, that's why I can be a bit more laid back about it.'

A post shared by JO COOPS (@joannacoops) on

As a model, Joanna has worked worked with huge brands, and her social media documents the hectic work schedule she keeps up – to remain motivated, she recalls always having wanted to work as a model, and her gratitude to be able to do the job she loves pushes her on.

'I like being busy. I've always wanted to do the job im doing, so now that i have it i just really appreciate it all the time and if something comes up id rather go and get it than sit back and later think 'oh I should have done that.' Its the fear of regretting not doing something.'

When it comes to the highly competitive modelling industry, Joanna remarks that there are two women in particular who she thinks are really changing the game.

'I love all of the plus size models like Ashley Graham.'

Louise O'Reilly – I love her. She has changed the game and changed how women look at themselves and has given women so much confidence.'

A post shared by JO COOPS (@joannacoops) on

'Speaking of modelling she remarks: 'I'll never get bored of it,'  but highlights how comparison syndrome can get her down like it would any other woman.

'The comparison aspect – when your job is based on your image sometimes its hard. You feel like shit one day and you have to go and stand in front of the camera. Every girl has insecurities if they are comparing themselves against other people and it becomes more prevalent when you are a model – you just have to understand that everyone is their own person and embrace yourself.'

'And with social media it has gotten so much worse, particularly in younger girls comparing themselves.'

Finishing up our chat, she left us with a major mic drop moment: 'You need to realise that social media is curated and what's online is probably 10% of that person's real life.

'Remember that everyone had their own struggles.  You're just seeing curated images online – that's not real life.'
