The rumours are true – Meryl Streep is set to star in Big Little Lies' second season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Post actress will play Mary Louise Wright, mum to the cruel Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard).

Also, be warned, there are spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't finished the first season.

After Perry's death in season one, Mary Louise comes to Monterey partly out of concern for her grandchildren, and also because she wants answers about what happened to her son.

This must be a dream come true for showrunner David E. Kelley (and, of course, the rest of us), as he previously told The Hollywood Reporter that she would be a part of his dream cast for Big Little Lies.

Another star he'd like to include? Tom Hanks. We can get behind that combination!

Season two is set to be seven episodes long, and David has already written the scripts for each episode.

Welcome to the #BigLittleLies family Ms. Streep – can’t wait xx

A post shared by Nicole Kidman (@nicolekidman) on

So far, only Meryl, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicole Kidman are confirmed to be returning, while the others' deals are reportedly still being worked out.

Indeed, we expect hefty pay rises for Zoe Kravitz and Shailene Woodley after reports that Reese and Nicole will be paid one million dollars per episode.

The show garnered eight Emmys and four Golden Globe Awards for its first season, so we expect Meryl's addition to the cast will only increase Big Little Lies' critical acclaim.

With eight Golden Globes and three Oscars under her belt, the 68-year-old is the definition of star power.

While no official return date has been set, it's expected that Big Little Lies will be back on our screens some time in 2019.

Disgraced YouTube star Logan Paul is attempting to regain his followers' trust after a video he filmed in the Aokigahara, also known as Japan's 'suicide forest', received huge backlash online.

The video, which was uploaded on December 31 and has since been deleted, contained footage showing the body of an individual who had taken their own life.

Needless to say, the video was widely condemned for its graphic and insensitive content.

Since then, Logan has apologised for his misguided actions, saying: Let's start with this—I'm sorry.'

‘I've never faced criticism like this before, because I've never made a mistake like this before.’

‘I'm surrounded by good people and believe I make good decisions, but I'm still a human being. I can be wrong.’

‘I didn't do it for views. I get views. I did it because I thought I could make a positive ripple on the Internet, not cause a monsoon of negativity.’

Three weeks after the YouTuber issued his official apology, he has now returned to the platform with a seven-minute suicide awareness video which he hopes will 'make a difference in the world'.

The video, which has received a largely positive response so far, follows Logan he attempts to educate himself by speaking to a number of suicide experts and mental health activists, as well as a suicide survivor.

The 22-year-old also pledged to donate $1 million to prevention groups.

"It's time to learn from the past as I get better and grow as a human being. I’m here to have a hard conversation so that those who are suffering have easier ones," he says.

The video finishes with a message urging anyone who may be feeling emotionally distressed to contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Demi Lovato has never been shy about discussing her problems with mental health.

Having previously spoken about her struggles  with anorexia, as well as a life-time battle with bipolar disorder, the 25-year-old is determined to open the conversation around mental illness.

And it's for that reason that the singer's upcoming Tell Me You Love Me tour will offer more than just a live performance.

This year, all of Demi's concerts will kick off with a series of inspirational speeches as well group therapy and wellness workshops. Similar to the services offered during her and Nick Jonas' Future Now tour in 2016.

"It's basically like a therapy session before the concerts and we have speakers from all over and we're also helping out with different charities from around the country," Lovato said on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

"So it'll be an incredible, very moving and inspiring experience."

Speaking about what inspired her to create the crowd therapy sessions, she explained how she wanted to use her voice for more that just singing.

“I think that it's important for me to use my voice for more than just singing. I just know how important it is to use my platform to help others and to share my story in hopes that it inspires people to either get into recovery or better themselves.”

“Whatever it is, I just want people to know they're not alone and I'm here for them.”

Demi's Tell Me You Love Me tour, featuring DJ Khaled and Kehlani, begins on February 26 in San Diego, and while there's now word just yet, we're anxiously awaiting the announcement of an Irish date.

Is there anything more comforting than a home-cooked Sunday roast?

It's one of life's greatest pleasures, and we'll be damned if anyone tries to tell us otherwise.

Plenty of stuffing, lashings of gravy, and a cheeky Yorkshire pudding to top it all off, oh, and let's not forget about the real star of the show – the potatoes.

Everyone will claim that their mother makes the best roasties in the land, but we've never had a verified scale on which to judge them on – until now.

A group of students from the Edge Hotel School at the University of essex have created a mathematical formula that they claim can be used to cook the perfect roast potato.

In collaboration with the Samuel Whitbread School in Bedfordshore, pupils have developed what they call the “Edge Hotel School Method”.

So, how does it work?

Well, to start you'll need to cut your potatoes at a 30-angle.

“We’re going for a formula which takes the three radii of the potato and it multiplies them altogether so that you can figure out the surface area,” a student from the Samuel Whitbread School explained to ITV News.

You can achieve this by first cutting the potatoes lengthwise and cutting each half at the perfect angle.

By doing this, the potato's surface are will be increased by 65 per cent, thus making it crispier and let's face it, even more delicious.

The students then use Heston Blumenthal’s roast potato recipe to cook the potatoes in the oven.

You can check out the recipe in full below.

Well, we know what we're making for dinner this weekend.

Online dating can be oddly addictive.

At first, you convince yourself you're just in it “for the laugh”, but before you know it, you're two hours deep in a marathon swipe session, trying to pinpoint the exact moment you lost all self-control.

Sound familiar?

If so, it might not surprise you to discover that single millennials spend a whopping 10 hours a week looking for love online.

Dating site Badoo.com surveyed its 370 million users worldwide in an effort to gain a deeper insight into today's modern dating trends – and the results were very interesting indeed.

Results showed that men spent an average of 85 minutes per day on dating apps, with each session lasting 9.7 minutes.

Whereas women spend 79 minutes a day on dating apps, typically browsing for 7.6 minutes each session to find a potential partner.

A spokesperson from Badoo.com, who commissioned the research said: “One question we get asked a lot, is how much time do people really spend swiping for ‘the one’?”

“These results give one of the first insights into how long [users] spend in pursuit of love.”

“And it will come as no surprise that time is no barrier for most people.”

According to the study, female users log on to dating apps and average of 10 times a day, while men fall just short of the top spot with and average of nine times per day.

Sure it might sound like a lot, but it could end up being worth it in the end.

And hey, when you do eventually find 'the one' you can use that free time to go on cute, real-life dates!

As debate intensifies in the lead-up to the referendum on the 8th amendment, Down Syndrome Ireland have issued a statement, asking both sides of the campaign to suspend the use of images featuring people with Down Syndrome.

Referring to an article which was featured in The Irish Times on Tuesday, CEO of Down Syndrome Ireland, Gary Owens, explains that an image of a little girl with Down Syndrome was used in a pamphlet by a pro-life lobby group called 'Love Both'.

"This has come on top of a number of references appearing in the media over the past few days where campaigners on both sides of the debate are using people with Down syndrome to present their views," he wrote.

"This is very disrespectful to both children and adults with Down syndrome and their families. People with Down syndrome should not be used as an argument for either side of this debate."

While Mr Owens stresses the organisation's respect for individual opinion, he adds: "We are respectfully asking both sides of the campaign debate, all political parties and any other interested groups to stop exploiting children and adults with Down syndrome to promote their campaign views."

The statement reiterates its support of people with Down syndrome and their families, and reminds campaigners to adopt a respectful tone as the debate on the 8th continues.

Senator Aodhán Ó Ríordan has shared the statement on his Twitter page in a move which has attracted considerable attention on social media today.

Dublin's commuter bike scheme is set to be expanded with the installation of 15 new stations across the city.

Most of the additional stations will be dotted across the north inner city with areas including Grangegorman, Phibsborough and Drumcondra all set to benefit from the planned expansion.

The south side areas of Merrion Square South and Wilton Terrace will also see installation of new ranks.

While the news has been welcomed by Dublin's commuters, the project is far from finished.

A lack of funding has resulted in huge delays with Councillor Ciarán Cuffe, Chair of the Council's Transport Committee, admitting that the expansion has been happing at “a snail's pace” since it began almost 10 years ago.

“You need the money from central government to make it happen, and that is where there simply hasn't been enough cash to expand the scheme as quickly as we would like,” he explained.

This is only phase two of a fourteen phase project, which was due to be completed two years ago.

The 15 new stations being installed in Phase 2 are:

  • Grangegorman Lower No1, D7

  • Grangegorman Lower No2, D7

  • Grangegorman Lower No3, D7

  • Rathdown Road, D7

Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, has come under fire from the public for remarks he made regarding financial planning.

While discussing public interest in the Rebuilding Ireland Home Loan Scheme, the Taoiseach suggested that those attempting to get on the property ladder should seek financial assistance from their parents or move abroad in order to save.

Contributing to discussion surrounding the scheme, which intends to provide low-interest loans to first-time buyers, Mr Varadkar provided an insight into his own financial history.

“It has always been the case that a person needs to raise a deposit to buy a house,” he said. “People do it in many different ways. Sometimes people go abroad for a period and earn money. Others get money from their parents. Lots of us did."

“It has always been the case that a person had to be able to raise a deposit to buy his or her own home, with the exception of one period during the boom when we had 100% loans, which I would not like us to get back to because we know where that led us,” he reasoned.

Twitter users have taken umbrage with the remarks, with many arguing that this perspective demonstrates a limited understanding of the financial hardship endured by many families in Ireland.

Last year, Bank of Ireland were forced to pull a campaign which suggested that adult children should rely on their parents for financial support.

The public were quick to criticise the organisation's attempt to normalise a situation which has been causing grave concern among young adults in recent years.

Taking to Twitter to air their grievances, the public condemned the campaign, with one person writing: "Despite it being the reality, it's low for a state backed bank to promote young people misfortunes."

There comes a point in everyone's life when they just need to throw caution to the wind and buy four houses next to each other, right?

Yeah. we're not quite convinced either, but then again, we're not Mr Ed Sheeran.

According to emerging reports this morning, the singer has purchased four houses alongside each other in a Suffolk village approximately two hours outside of London.

Ed, who recently got engaged to his long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, is the talk of residents in the area, with neighbours dubbing the move the birth of 'Sheeranville'.

The 26-year-old star has essentially created his own country estate with the extravagant purchases – a move which neighbours eagerly welcome.

"He is just a down to earth Suffolk boy at heart, so who can blame him for wanting to settle down here? It is a lovely part of the world," one villager told the press.

The buildings will feature a custom-made pub, underground cinema, swimming pool, jacuzzi and two entertainment rooms. Natch.

Suffolk Coastal District Council approved Mr Sheeran's plans last September.
