Fancy sweating it out in a pair of lycra leggings and a leotard? Then look no further.

There's a disco themed fitness class being held in The Bernard Shaw on April 14, and flares are definitely optional.

The class is by Fearless Moves, a fun fitness initiative that combines epic tunes with an energetic work out.

With a playlist full of disco whoppers, the exercise event is right up our alley.

'It's a fun (slightly sweat-tastic!) HIIT class with brunch served afterwards,' reads the event description.

'The session will feature a live DJ and instructor who have been challenged to come up with a boogie-licious disco set.'

The exercise class also features a sit-down brunch afterwards, so literally sign us up.

Tickets are €37.32, and for an intense gym session followed by a healthy brunch, we think its pretty reasonable.

Chrissy Teigen has spoken out about her influencer on social media.

Speaking to the Associated Press, the model and TV presenter described how she feels about the scrutiny placed on celebs online, and how closely their social media posts are monitored.

Describing the pressure to monitor her online presence, she said:

A post shared by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

'Honestly when I first got my first major brand endorsement that was the first time where I couldn’t say something that I thought was funny because there could be brand backlash.'

'Or when I couldn’t go to award shows anymore because I always prided myself on being an outsider so I got to comment on performances just like a regular fan.'

'When I couldn’t do that (anymore) I knew that it was over for me. I can’t remember who was performing but someone clearly wasn’t singing live and I said it and, wow.'

A post shared by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

'I really don’t have the intention of things becoming a moment or a quote or a thing.'

'Sometimes the things we do are not some grand statement about something bigger.'

While it might be ironic that we're writing about this considering the point of her statement, it was too thought-provoking not to discuss.

Penneys is arguably the backbone of Irish fashion and homeware, and there's nothing quite like being able to say 'thanks hun, Penneys,' to someone after they fawn over your new dress/coat/couch cushions.

However, before you get to that stage, there is the shopping in Penneys, and the transportation of your wares back home.

It is at this moment that the iconic Penneys bag comes in.

A post shared by Linda Norman (@mindynorms) on

The brown paper bags with their Tiffany-blue font have carried many the pack of fluffy socks, new bedding or holiday wardrobes from the check-out to the homes of the Irish public.

Woe betide you if it rained and went soggy, but other than that, the bags are an iconic beacon of nice new 'bits.'

Thanks to their famous, recognisable status, for April Fool's Day, the mega bargain brand decided to pay homage to the bag

In a tweet, Primark posted a series of images of a new brown paper bag inspired collection.

From brollies to t-shirts to gorge heels, we were honestly considering snapping something up foir the irony factor alone – if only it actually existed.

Good one, Penneys.

How to recognise and treat common eye diseases

Eye diseases can be very common and often occur gradually, which means that you don’t always notice the symptoms. It’s hugely important for your eye health that you attend regular eye examinations, as looking after your eyes in this way can ensure you receive the right care and treatment. Seeing an optician every 2 years as recommended can ensure any issues are found early.

Eye conditions can affect everyone from children to adults, with some rarer than others.  It’s helpful to understand the different conditions that may affect your eye health and vision. A leading London face and eye clinic discusses what signs to look out for, to recognise potential eye health conditions.

How to recognise if you have glaucoma

Glaucoma is sometimes known as the ‘silent blinding disease’ because it often progresses so gradually that you don’t notice anything until it is too late. It’s the second most common cause of blindness and there is currently no cure. Therefore, early detection of glaucoma is so important as it can help to prevent any permanent visual damage.

There are different types of glaucoma; the most prevalent is chronic open-angle glaucoma. It has a very gradual progression and generally affects your peripheral vision first.

On the other end of the scale, primary angle-closure glaucoma develops much faster with a quicker onset of symptoms. You may experience eye pain, headaches, redness and tenderness, as well as a rapid loss of vision.

You could be at higher risk of developing glaucoma depending on your age, genetics and existing eye conditions like myopia.

How to recognise if you have cataracts

Cataracts are a by-product of the ageing process so is a very common eye condition and usually develops in those who are 65 years or older.

Cataracts occur when the lens gradually becomes cloudy and loses transparency, but it can go unnoticed because of the gradual deterioration. Developing cataracts is mostly down to age, but genetics and lifestyle choices can also have an impact. Exposure to UV light is one of the leading factors of developing cataracts.

Cataracts are usually picked up by your optician during a routine eye examination and once detected they can recommend treatment.

How to recognise if you have AMD

The cause of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is unknown, but it is closely linked to age, hence its name. The macular is a small part of the retina, located at the back of your eye and is important for central vision.

AMD causes the loss of central vision, but not your peripheral vision. It’s painless and gradual and eventually it can make everyday activities very difficult. You can also experience less vibrant colours and visual distortions. Your optometrist can recommend preventative measures and can recognise the signs of AMD early allowing them to advise on management.

As it's Easter Monday and a public holiday (and the majority of the shops were closed yesterday), we know that more than a few might have to re-stock the essentials for today and the rest of the week ahead – you can only solidly eat chocolate for so many hours, after all.

If you were out last night, you may also need hangover provisions, and there's nothing quite as disappointing as walking to the shop for thise tortilla chips only to find that your trusty local is closed.

So, if you're wondering exactly how long the supermarkets stay open for today, we've put together a quick list of the opening times in one place.

Though shoppers should also take note that opening hours in some regions are localised, and that it is probably best to check your nearest store in case there are any differences/changes before you leave the house:

Aldi

Easter Monday, April 2 – 9am-9pm

Lidl

Easter Monday, April 2 – 9am-9pm

Dunnes Stores

The majority of stores are open from about 10am-7pm but again, this will vary slightly on a store to store basis so use this handy store locator to find your local Dunnes hours.

Tesco

Most stores are open from about 7am-11pm but you can use the online store finder here to check the exact hours for your local Tesco store.

Super Valu

Super Valu stores will also differ depending – so make sure to check your local store on this locator for opening hours today.

Marks & Spencer

Marks & Spencer's 17 Irish stores' opening hours will vary over Easter Monday. See HERE for more details

We've always heard that symmetry is the baseline for perfect beauty, but when it comes to injecting cosiness and personality into the home, angular symmetry can create an atmosphere of tension.

Luckily, the upcoming home wear trend of 2018 is all about embracing imperfections and celebrating the flaws.

It even has a name that evokes an idea of casual comfort – Wabi-sabi.

A post shared by @tonialbali on

Wabi-sabi is the Japanese commitment to the imperfect, the well-worn and the everyday, and is in opposition to consumerism.

Much like hygge, there is no direct translation in English, but the concept celebrates the distinctive differences some objects hold, rather than being the exact same as all the others on the assembly line.

The Wabi-sabi look involves well worn woodwork, earthenware pottery, mis-matched but harmonious decor and subtle changes in colour scheme and tone throughout a room.

A post shared by jook (@itsajook) on

Wabi-sabi also involves combining the man made with the natural.

This comes from the use of scrubbed wood, multiple types of wood used together, cement, clay and raw textiles.

It's part of the repair rather than replacing philosophy, and objects which have served their purpose well and show signs of their service are admired.

A post shared by Dot.design (@dotdesign.se) on

The concept has roots in Buddhism, which encourages peace in an imperfect and hectic world.

'It celebrates cracks and crevices and rot and all the other marks that time and weather and use leave behind,' Natural Home's Robyn Griggs wrote in Utne Reader.

We won't be throwing out that worn rug any time soon, so.

Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan has said that he will review the way in which sexual assault cases are handled.

Speaking to The Irish Times, Mr Flanagan said that we would consider allowing alleged victims to have their own legal representation.

Currently, complainants act as witnesses for the State’s prosecution and do not have their own legal team.

'I will commence consultations with women’s groups and the legal profession without delay,' he told The Irish Times.

'I want the Domestic Violence Bill enacted within weeks, and the Criminal Justice Sexual Offences Act and the Victims of Crime Act are being rolled out offering greater protection.'

'I will study what more can be done to protect women and girls.'

He is aiming to review the way such sensitive trial operate.

The decision comes after days of country-wide protests in solidarity with survivors of rape and sexual assault.

Having a long distance best friend has become quite the norm over the past few years.

As many of us look to travel and work abroad, sometimes our nearest and dearest can end up in a faraway land.

And while no distance could break the bond you share, there are a number of struggles you're sure to come up against during your time apart.

1. You get jealous whenever they have any fun without you

But deep down you know they'd have more fun if you were there.

2. No more borrowing each other's clothes

The biggest betrayal of all.

3. Having multiple conversations running at the same time

You can't keep up with the various WhatsApp, Facebook and Snapchat conversations, but that's not going to stop you from trying.

4. Getting sulky when they have to spend time with other people

How dare anyone try to disturb your precious reunion.

5. Weekend adventures are replaced by all-day skype sessions

Definitely not as exciting, but hey, at least you get to stay in bed.

6. You don't get to hang out with their pet anymore

And sometimes you don't know who you miss more.

7. Feeling offended when they hang out with people you've never met

'Em? Who are these people in your profile picture and why aren't they me?'

8. You need a night out but FaceTime and wine is the closest you'll get

OK, maybe this one isn't the worst, after all it's probably the cheapest 'night out' you and your best friend will ever have.

9. Momentarily forgetting about the time difference

You don't care if it's 4am where they are – you need to talk about the Game of Thrones plot twist.

10. Thanking your lucky star that the internet exists

Sure, you'd have no problem writing letters or spending a months wages on a phone call to stay in touch, but the internet definitely makes the process a lot easier.

If you're anything like us, having a glass of wine with a meal means picking the cheapest bottle on the list and hoping for the best – after all, our 'teat yo'self' budgets can only stretch so far.

For others, however, the process of choosing a suitable wine is much more time-consuming altogether.

Whatever your wine drinking habits, researchers at Michigan State University have concluded that most people fit into one of four wine-drinking preference categories – or vinotypes, if you will.

For the study, a group of adults were asked about their food and beverage preferences, and their consumption patterns.

Researchers then held a reception where participants were asked to rate various snacks and wines individually, then together.

According to The Independent, after observing the participants, researchers were able to predict wine preferences based on the data gathered about their eating, drinking and other personal habits – leading to the creation of the four vinotypes.

1. Sweet – Very picky. Looking for something sweet, light and no too strong. Typically love soda and foods with excess salt.

2. Hypersensitive – Slightly more open-mined. Will try a new wine as long as its simple and clean. These types of drinkers are most likely to complain about TV volume and thermostat temperature.

3. Sensitive – Flexible and adventurous. Free-spirited and less rigid in their every day lives.

4. Tolerant – Lovers of big, bold and intense flavours. Decisive and linear thinkers. Typically enjoy strong coffee and cheese.

So, which one are you?

Ah, April Fool's. That one day of the year the when some the world's least funny people unite over a love of bad jokes and ridiculous fibs.

Sure, we loved the chaos it cause when we were children – after all, what seven-year-old doesn't get a kick out of telling their mother they put bleach in the washing machine – but as we grow up, the mischievous air around the first day of April is replaced by copious amounts of eye-rolling and sighing.

At the end of the day, it's all a bit of fun, and perhaps we're just too old and cynical to see the pint in any of it, but after a quick scroll through Twitter, it's safe to say we're not the only ones who feel this way.

Here's some of our favourite anti-April Fool's tweets so far.

1.  … yay!

2. It's the best way.

3. Ruining it for everyone.

4. Just the tip of the iceberg tbh.

5. We'll all get caught out sooner or later.

6. He's got a point.

7. It's honestly not even worth it.

8. Let's just do away with the old tradition altogether

Woop-di-do!

Heavy rain, strong winds, and plummeting temperatures will the stars of the show, with snow and sleet also forecast for tonight.

An additional warning has been put in place for counties Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford, with extremely heavy downpours expected.

And it looks like the wet weather is here to stay with widespread showers expected throughout next week.

However, if early indications are true, we can look forward to balmy temperatures if 13 to 14 degrees next weekend – so at least we have something to lok forward to.
