Yearly Archives: 2017

Earlier this week, Will.i.am confirmed what everyone already knew – Fergie is no longer a member of The Black Eyed Peas.

The rapper revealed that the trio now hope to collaborate with other 'good female' artists in the future, and they'll probably need to  – because let's face it, Fergie was The Black Eyed Peas.

Speaking to Ahlan!, Will said, ''Since the beginning of The Black Eyed Peas, we’ve always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us.''

‘People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On Elephunk, there were several females that appeared on that album. Obviously Fergie was the featured female..''

‘But Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology and experiences on our new project, Masters of the Sun.’

So, who could possibly replace the M.I.L.F.$ singer?

Well, reports have linked former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger, to the role.

Will.I.Am confirmed in the interview that the X Factor judge does feature on their new project, but he added that he didn't "want to go into details [about] how she's involved yet".

Either way, we're excited about what the collaboration will have in store.

The results are in and Leo Varadkar has officially been elected as the new leader of Fine Gael.

The leadership was decided in an electoral college system that gives 65 per cent of the vote to the Fine Gael parliamentary party – made up of 73 TDs, senators and MEPs.

The candidate came out on top after the parliamentary party, it's members and councillors had their say.

Despite party members voting in favour of Housing Minister, Simon Coveney, votes from the parliamentary party and Electoral College of local councillors pushed Mr Varadkar out in front.

He has said he is "delighted and humbled" to win the contest.

At just 38-years-old, he is set to become Ireland's youngest ever Taoiseach.

The final overall result:

Leo Varadkar: 60%

Simon Coveney 40%

There is nothing wrong with having a less-than-perfectly-flat stomach, but thanks to current societal beauty standards of having a big butt and boobs along with washboard abs, proudly showing off a visible tummy isn't something we always see positively.

Even the fittest of personal trainers have proven through honest, intentionally-angled snaps that most everyone has a few rolls on their tummy from some angle, but still the stomach is the least-loved body part for many women.

One body-positivity activist has set out to change our opinions of our less-than-taunt tummies, and we're totally here for it.

The positivity Instagram Self Love Page serves up hundreds of amazing, body beautiful posts, but this one in particular caught our eye.

Posing in a body con skirt and crop top, tummy outline on show, the Instagrammer urged her followers to share in celebrating the curve of their stomach.

'Cheers to a summer of rocking clothing that give you a visible tummy outline,' reads the caption.

'Cheers to not giving a shit what people think about your body or the way you dress.'

'Cheers to embracing what we've been told not to wear because it doesn't "flatter our body type'"'

'Cheers to living free of judgement, reservations, and inhibitions,' she continued. '

Life is short, enjoy it. Don't let others affect your happiness and self worth. Bellies are cute and worth showing off.'

Hear, hear!

We know that festival season is an excuse to throw glitter all over everything, but this latest festival fashion innovation is taking the trend to new heights.

We've all had more than a few encounters with roll on body glitter, but the creatives at Go Get Glitter clearly have a talent for working with the sparkly substance.

The glitter cosmetics brand are pushing the boundaries and introducing innovative ways to wear glitter that we never thought possible.

Introducing, the full on glitter top, which literally looks like the stuff of glitter-lover's dreams.

The specialist body art gurus are painting the torsos of festival goers this season with lashings of the sparkly stuff to create wearable clothing purely out of glitter.

The tops are our new obsession, with the brand using intricate and amazing nipple covers to maintain the model's modesty if they're not feeling like freeing the nipple.

We're itching to try this look out for real, with the high-impact creation turning heads wherever they go, which is clear by their amazing Instagram videos of festival attendees wearing the look out and about.

It may not be a goer for a DIY job, but we'd love to give it a try.

Pass the bucket of glitter, please and thanks.

Talking to someone you're attracted to can be a daunting experience.

Where do you look? What do you say? Are they even listening to me right now?

Picking a chat-up line that's more flirty than cringe is tricky business, but lucky for us, new research claims to have discovered what to say in order to give yourself the best chance of finding love – use a metaphor.

Scientists from the University of Electronic Science and Technology in China, have discovered that women prefer when a man uses metaphorical language to compliment them.

According to The Independent, researchers claim that compliments like “Your eyes are morning dew” or “Your smile is a naughty goblin” are better received than literal expressions like “Your lips are so sexy.”

Ehh? I don't know about you but if someone told me I smiled like a naughty goblin I'd run as fast as I could in the other direction.

The study found that men who use metaphors are deemed to be more creative and intelligent (unless you're calling a women a goblin, that's just weird).

Researcher also proved that women prefer to be complimented on their appearance rather than their possessions, however, it's important to note that this study was relatively small.

Just 116 women took part, and their answers may only reflect Chinese culture.

“The fact that Pragma (practical) and Storge (friendship-based) love style attitudes constituted 59.65 per cent and 45.61 per cent of the participants in our study may reflect both the participants’ sex and Chinese culture,” the researchers said.

“This finding is consistent with the report that Chinese women, relative to their western counterparts, view love as a companionship and place marriage over love.”

So, if your usual chat-up lines aren't getting you anywhere, just try reciting a few verses of  Shakespeare next time.

So, the Harry Potter franchise has unfortunately ended and fans have left no theory or plot hole unturned.

With no where else to focus all that magical energy, fans decided to turn their attention to what came before Harry and his pals got their Hogwarts letters.

More specifically, a prequel film about the Dark Lord himself – Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir.

Warner Brothers have just given the go ahead to a film about the life of Tom Riddle after Tryangle Films set up a Kickstarter page in a bid to raise funds for the project.

The campaign was later pulled from the crowd funding site, leaving fans thinking the idea had been scrapped.

However, earlier this week, a trailer for the fan film made it's way onto YouTube, and has racked up over 2.5 million views in just a few days.

The minute long clip shows the heir of Gryffindor, Grisha McLaggen on the hunt for Tom Riddle, who disappears after Hufflepuff's heir is poisoned by a house elf.

Following the trailers success, Warner Brothers have teamed up with Tryangle Films to produce the unofficial prequel, providing it's only released on YouTube 'in a nonprofit' way.

Speaking to Polygon, Voldemort: Origins of The Heir director, Director Gianmaria Pezzato, confirmed the news.

"We had a private and confidential discussion with Warner Bros. who contacted us during the period of the crowd funding campaign.

"The only thing we can say is that they let us proceed with the film, in a nonprofit way, obviously."

When asked what inspired him to create the film, Gianmaria said:

"We wondered, “What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back?”

"A lot goes unspoken. This is story we want to tell: The rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise."

We can not wait for this.

Calling all Katy Perry fans!

If you were hoping to see the pop sensation in concert any time soon, you're out of luck.

Katy has just announced that she's bringing her tour to Europe, but sadly Ireland is off the list of destinations.

She'll be visiting the likes of France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and the UK, but no date for the Emerald Isle in site.

The star is doing seven dates in the UK and Scotland, so for any hardcore fans, a trip across the pond might not be too much of an ordeal.

However, there is still a chance that the singer might add yet more dates to her extensive tour.

Fingers crossed!

You can check out the rest of the dates and ticket details right here.
