“At Happenings we have some simple philosophies. We strive to give green public spaces beautiful open air events allowing people to enjoy their city in a meaningful way.” says Peter O’Brien, Happenings founder.

“A personal responsibility action at our events is to Leave No Trace. Our audiences clean up the space by taking care of their own waste. We have an unlocked policy. This means we are unlocking the potential of public space and we do not have drunken madness at anytime. We aim to provide an alternative to pub based entertainment”

Ticket are available on www.happenings.ie or on the gate for just €5.

Gates open at 7.30pm and the film kicks off when the sun goes down.

It's around that time of year again when thoughts of sandals and bikini tops slowly turn to warm fires and wool blankets – and honestly, we're not mad about it.

Naturally the darker evenings and colder weather lead us to spend more time indoors, meaning now is the perfect time to upgrade your home interiors before settling in for the season ahead.

From bohemian lighting to velvet cushions, this AW is all about making statements and we've rounded up some of this year's hottest trends to get your creative juices flowing.

1. Bold Textures

Whether it's a chunky knit, velvet bedding or faux fur furnishings, interesting textures are huge for AW17.

A few simple cushions or a luxurious throw can add a real element of warmth and cosiness, without breaking the bank.

2. Dark Green

While many of us tend to shy away from dark interiors, the addition of rich colour adds depth to any living space – as long as you don't over do it, of course.

If you've got a dodgy chest of drawers or a bedside table that's seen better days, why not give your furniture a new lease of life with a fresh lick of dark green paint?

Combined with a neutral background, this usual colour combination works a treat for the season ahead.

3. Rustic Lighting

With darker evenings approaching fast, lighting is an important feature in any home.

And if you're looking to stay on trend this AW – bohemian is better.

Shut the curtains and transform your room into a Moroccan paradise (even if the weather outside is miserable).

4. Brass

Goodbye copper, hello brass!

When used sparingly, this metal can add a touch of warmth and class to any room – but be careful, it can be easy to go overboard.

Be sure to incorporate it alongside other colours and textures, but seeing as it goes with pretty much everything, finding a match shouldn't be a problem.

Frames and flowers pots work especially well.

5. Patterned Duvets

When it comes to bedding, minimalism is out and eye-catching design is in.

From tropical to paisley, your bed is one of the few places in your home where you have the freedom to mix colours, texture and patterns as you choose – go wild!

Following last week's devastating terror attack in Barcelona, members of the Muslim community have taken to the streets of the Spanish city to protest the acts of terror which were carried out in the name of their religion.

Less than a week after a group, which is believed to consist of 12 radicalised individuals, plotted to kill and maim innocent bystanders in both central Barcelona and the town of Cambrils, hundreds of Muslims have taken to the streets to protest the abhorrent acts.

Clutching placards which read 'not in my name' in a number of languages, the city's Muslim community proved they are desperate to distance themselves from the individuals who killed at least 14 people in last week's atrocities.

Creating the shape of a heart with their hands, hundreds of people, young and old, marched from the scene of the attack to the Plaza de Catalunya over the weekend.

Currently, the Muslim community in Spain is on the receiving end of racist grafitti, with mosques in Barcelona, Seville and Granada having been targeted by vandals in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks.

Difficult and all as it is to believe, it’s been a staggering twenty years since the biggest popstars of our childhood took to the silver screen to showcase their acting abilities.

That’s right; Spice World: The Movie premiered in 1997, and we are officially ancient.

But instead of lamenting our past youth, our favourite Dublin cinema is inviting us to revisit the past with a special viewing of the now iconic movie, and we are so on board.

Acutely aware how much this movie meant to a generation of Girl Power devotees, the Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield is hosting a screening to celebrate its birthday.

“Join Geri, Emma, Victoria and the two Mels on a double decker adventure of a life time as they prepare for the biggest concert of their lives at the Royal Albert Hall,” the cinema urges on their Facebook page.

From 10.45 pm on Saturday September 9, you and the squad are encouraged to don your highest platforms, unearth your favourite LBD, and channel your inner Spice Girl. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.

Ladies, it’s time to spice up your lives.

In recent weeks, Leah Remini acknowledged the fact that her former friend, Elisabeth Moss, has been forbidden from speaking to her since Leah made the decision to leave Scientology four years ago, going as far as to exit the room when Leah took to the stage to accept an award recently.

"Elisabeth believes that she can't talk to me," Leah told The Hollywood Reporter. "There's a thing in Scientology called 'acceptable truth.' It means you only say what's acceptable to the public.”

"Moss believes that I'm an antisocial personality, because I've spoken out against Scientology," she added. "So she isn't allowed to talk to me."

And while Leah appears pretty understanding of the predicament her former friend finds herself, the same can't be said of her attitude towards Tom Cruise.

While participating in a Reddit AMA, the actress was, unsurprisingly, confronted with a question regarding her former friend, Tom.

Responding to a question which asked whether she thought the Vanilla Sky actor was a 'good person', Leah responded: "No! Just going to get straight to it, no!"

"There is a public persona of the guy who looks at you directly in the eye and shakes your hand and hugs you and is an attentive person to you and there’s the person behind the mask who is a completely different person," she continued.

Spilling even more tea for Reddit users, she added: "Someone could say we all have that  – what we are to the public and who we are behind the scenes, but the people who are around Tom and work for Tom, not even people who are Scientologists, they will say he is diabolical,"

After acknowledging her own shortcomings, Leah compared the world-famous actor to the infamous Scientology leader, Leah said: "People who’ve worked with me will say I can be an a*****e — all actors can be. That is different. He’s very similar to David Miscavige, they could be twins.”

From presenting and producing documentary series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, to penning an autobiography detailing her time in the church, the 40-year-old star has been more than candid about her time with the organisation.

We are big fans of tattoos, especially when they are tiny and adorable (although we enjoy large, intricate ones also.)

So naturally, when we discovered the latest tattoo trend, we were more than intrigued.

More and more people are getting inked just under their nails, and on their fingers, and we honestly love it!

These tiny tats sit just above the nail on the end of your fingers, and they’re all over Instagram lately (we can see why!)

As cute as these tattoos are, we're warning you that they're not for the faint hearted.

I have tattoos, and they're painful (a bearable pain), but finger tattoos are up there with the worst of them – OUCH!

So if you are a tattoo veteran, go for the fingers, but I don't recommend them as a first tattoo experience.

Check these out, and let us know your thoughts:

Every Sunday, it's the same. You're flung on the couch, almost bored to tears, but refusing to do anything even remotely wholesome or worthwhile.

In fact, the only thing which has even a hope of stirring you from your stupor is the talk of a takeaway, and within minutes, you and your BFF have sprung to life.

While initial chat focuses on the desire to take it handy and merely grab a light bite, it's not long before you're knee deep in wedges and chicken wings, promising yourself you'll knock it all on the head come Monday.

Ladies, it's like looking in a mirror…

At a time when women feel pressure to prove themselves in countless areas of their lives, it’s no surprise that many of us fear we’re falling short.

Whether it’s in the workplace, at the gym studio, on the social scene or with friends and family, we live in a society where women feel compelled to tick every box – an unattainable undertaking which ultimately leaves many of us in a state of stress or anxiety.

According to a recent survey conducted by MummyPages.ie, these concerns are by no means the reserve of the present, but, in fact, cast a shadow over the woman’s future, with more than half of young Irish women worrying about their chances of conception.

The research, which was conducted in conjunction with the advanced fertility supplement brand Proceive, reveals the worries facing women trying to get pregnant right now, and the steps they’re taking to improve their chances.

With many women admitting they spent most of their twenties actively trying to prevent conception, the statistics born of the study illustrate the sharp 180 many women do as they reach their thirties, as friends and family remind them that the biological clock is ticking.

82% of women surveyed take daily folic acid supplements in preparation for pregnancy while 53% have lost weight to boost their chances of conception.

62% have cut out or cut down on alcohol to help their chances of getting pregnant while 38% are taking fertility enhancing prenatal vitamins and 37% are exercising more.

Commenting on the findings, Proceive’s nutritionist, Gaye Godkin  said: “Egg quality can be enhanced if they are released into a healthy nutritious environment.”

“Fostering a good diet and ensuring that you are taking the essential nutrients can positively affect the health of your eggs and subsequently the developing foetus.”

“One in three Irish women expect it will take them six months or more to get pregnant. And while a lucky 40 per cent will get pregnant in their first three months of trying, a further third of our mums will still be trying after 12-months,” she added.

Reinforcing the importance of a healthy lifestyle, Laura Erskine, spokesmum for MummyPages.ie, said: “The idea of making new food choices that have the optimum conception inducing vitamins and minerals through diet and supplements is one which is embraced today.”

“A prenatal fertility supplement such as Proceive is designed to support the nutritional needs of the body when trying for a baby and can be taken by both womenand men, which is good news for 1 in 10 women who are worried that their partners health may affect their chance of conception.”

Laura added: “Losing weight, taking prenatal vitamin and mineral supplements, reducing sugar, caffeine and alcohol in their diets, and avoiding stress will all help the baby making process – and having regular sex too of course!”

The study, which harnessed the opinions of almost 200 women, was conducted in June 2017.

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has urged Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, to liberalise Ireland's restrictive abortion laws.

The leaders met in Montreal yesterday to discuss a range of issues including human rights, and the controversial Eight Amendment.

“On the issue of reproductive rights, I shared our perspective that such rights are integral to women’s rights and they are human rights and I asked him to look at it as a fundamental human right and we had a good discussion,” he said.

Mr Trudeau's advice comes after the hashtag #JustinformLeo went viral this weekend, as Irish women took to Twitter to ask the Canadian leader to discuss the issue of Ireland's abortion ban during the visit.

Following a successful meeting, the two leaders marched in the Montreal Pride parade yesterday afternoon.

Leo will now travel to Toronto where he is due to discuss growing trade, tourism, and investment between Ireland and Canada.

Harry Styles looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow musicians, Adele and Michael Bublé, as he sits down with his good friend and BBC Radio One DJ, Nick Grimshaw, for an exclusive one-off interview.

The former One Direction star turned solo artist and actor, will chat about his career to date, as well as his personal life in front of a live studio audience in Manchester this November.

The Sign of the Times singer will also perform music from his solo album, including songs never played for a TV audience.

When asked about the 60-minute programme, host, Nick Grimshaw could hardly contain his excitement: “Harry is a great performer and full of so many wonderful stories about his extraordinary career, which he'll be sharing with us, I can't wait for this show!”

Guy Freeman of BBC Studios added: “These shows are all about creating a world in which superstars like Harry feel incredibly comfortable and alongside their brilliant, live performances, can simply have fun and enjoy revealing more of themselves to viewers than is ever normally possible.”

This type of programme has been hugely successful in the past with Adele's one-off feature even earning itself a BAFTA nomination.

A total of 52,374 third-level applicants will be offered at least one college course this morning, the Central Applications Office has confirmed.

Points for more than half of all honours degree courses are down from last year's figures, while close to 10 per cent saw no change at all.

Just over 300 level eight courses saw points rise, however, these increases were limited to 15 points or less in most cases.

While the volume of applications has remained relatively unchanged, almost 1,700 additional level eight course were offered to applicants by 35 colleges this year.

Teaching degrees saw the biggest decrease, while many nursing courses also had significantly lower entry requirements, though applicants fell by 5 per cent in this case.

Some areas of study with traditionally high points, such as medicine and dentistry, have risen slightly.

Arts remains the most popular choice for applicants, with slight in creases and decreases seen across individual colleges.

Applicants have until next Monday, August 28, to accept their first round offer.
