Digital tech behemoth Apple made all of our Christmas wishlists a few hundred euro more expensive back in 2005 with the release of the iPod Nano.

Eveyone in school was dying to get their hands on one and choosing the perfect colour was crucial.

Then the iPod Shuffle made it's debut, and while the concept of never being able to choose a song still baffles us, we were besotted none the less.

'Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano,' an Apple spokesperson told The Verge

The news come after the 2014 discontinuation of the classic, original iPod.

Our teenage, My Chemical Romance/Black Eyed Peas loving hearts bleed.

More than 400 million iPods have been sold since 2001.

There is a certain poignant nostaglgia attached to these devices, and we'll be getting ours out and listening to our cringey secondary school playlists on loop.

In the week leading up to pay day, many of us look back of on a months worth of reckless purchases with deep regret and loud sighs.

However, the next time you feel like cringing over that €25.00 JustEat order you made last weekend, just remember that an actual human being spent close to $30,000 of their hard earned cash on a framed sketch by Donald Trump.

Yep.

A (very) amateur drawing of the New York City skyline, crafted by none other then the President himself, sold at auction for an obscene amount of money today.

Nate D. Sanders Auctions in Los Angeles, California, set the starting bid at $9,000, however after 11 bids the 11.5 by 9 inch piece sold for $29,184.

In an official email to The Washington Post, the auction house described the bidders as “Trump admirers, Presidential memorabilia collectors and investors.”

Excuse while we crawl into bed and contemplate the complexity of humankind.

Talinda Bennington, Chester Bennington’s wife and mother to three of his six children, has released a heartbreaking statement following his tragic death last week.

"One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero – their Daddy,” she wrote.

"We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy."

"How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left. I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy. And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive."

Talinda finished off the tribute with a poignant reminder that Chester is now “pain-free singing his songs in all of our hearts.”

"May God bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would've wanted us to do so. Rest In Peace, my love."

The singer died by suicide at his Los Angeles home on July 20, just days before Linkin Park were due to embark on a North American tour.

Since then, fellow musicians have taken to social media to share their condolences, including Chester's bandmates who released a touching statement on their official website.

So, if like many of us, your expectation of dating was left skewed after a few too many Meg Ryan rom-coms, you'll know just how different romance can be on this side of the pond.

Think less Carey and Big and a little more Gavin and Stacey.

According to a recent study conducted by dred.com, dating practices between the two cultures actually differ quite a bit – like the fact that an American man is five per cent more likely to pick up the bill than his European counterpart.

Here's a breakdown of some of the most interesting results:

Feeling frisky?

When it came to getting down and dirty on the first date, 76 per cent of both American and European men said they would sleep with someone if the chemistry was right, while only 42 per cent of European and 37 per cent of American women agreed.

Bad first dates

According to the survey, six per cent of European men and two per cent of European and American women have snuck away from a bad first bad without even saying goodbye.

On the other side, 40 per cent of European men said they would stay and give it a chance, while only 31 per cent of American fellows said the same.

Location, location, location

All groups agreed that the best place for a first date was either a restaurant or coffee shop.

However, a high percentage of European men (35 per cent) said that dinner at one another's home was the perfect first date activity (???).

Deal breakers

Both sexes cited bad breath or poor personal hygiene as an instant mood killer.

72 per cent of men also said they would not ask for a second date if the other person treated the waitress or bar staff poorly.

Going dutch?

Interestingly, European women are twice as likely as American women to suggest splitting the bill, while both men and women from the USA believe that the man should pick up the check.

There are plenty of things all offices need – Google HQ style nap pods, a fully stocked snack pantry (with free snacks, obvs) and perhaps a tipple of gin from time to time.

Galwegians are known for their amazing humour and love of the craic, and going out and having a few G&Ts is all part of the Galway charm.

Not one but two Galway businesses have taken it upon themselves to incite joy in the hearts of their employees by installing gin water coolers in their offices.

Yup, gin water coolers.

First up we have popular Galway bar An Pucan who are clearly as obsessed with gin as we are with their commitment to the stuff.

Secondly, the Connacht Hotel is getting in on the action by creating their very own cooler of the delicious spirit.

It is not known if the guys at both businesses just slapped a Gunpowder label on water gallons or actually took the time to fill them up with gin, but either way, we're inspired.

We'll be petitioning for one in our office ASAP.

Most of us would feel truly flattered to be included in a friend's bridal party, right?

The role of bridesmaid indicates a deep friendship, and while we'd be honoured to stand next to our friend on her wedding day, we'd be reluctant to bid money in order to secure the role.

However, it sounds like that's exactly what some women will be doing if a recent thread on Reddit is anything to go by.

In a post which has stunned internet users, a woman has taken to the site to reveal that her sister has made the decision to hold an auction where the women in her life can bid money to take on the role of bridesmaid.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, the bride-to-be and her fiancé will be using the money to pay for their wedding and subsequent honeymoon.

"She still hasn't chosen her bridesmaids. Instead, she has sent out dozens of invitations, to various girls," wrote sistersbridesmaids. "It's an invite to attend and participate in a 'bidding auction: on the six spots in her bridal party."

"Whichever six of all these chicks bid the most will be the bridesmaids. There's also an auction for being her maid of honour," she continued.

"My sister is kind of shallow (bet you'd never have guessed, right?) and mainly only associates with rich people, or more accurately people with rich families since none of these young 20s girls have ever held a job in their life unless it's at their parents' investment firm."

"So most of the people she sent these to have the money for this kind of thing," the Reddit user explained before highlighting that this is by no means typical across her entire friend group.

"But I know she also sent a few to older friends of hers, like from high school or earlier, who she's not only lost touch with as they got older but also were from lower income backgrounds. She has no awareness about how inappropriate it is in many ways."

Sisterbridesmaid explained that she has refused to RSVP to the event, before being offered advice by members of the public.

"If being your sister is not enough reason for me to automatically be in your bridal party, I'm not interested. Have fun playing games with your friends, Sis," wrote one.

"Your sister is a nutter. If the pre-wedding shenanigans are at this level of idiocy, you can bet it'll be hideous for anyone who is 'lucky' enough to purchase themselves a spot," opined another.

"Maybe bid the equivalent value of a toaster, and let the others battle it out amongst themselves."

They're probably onto something.

A bouncy blow dry is the cherry on top of an epic night out outfit.

As you may have spotted on your favourite social media influencer's Instagram, Dry & Fly is the hottest spot to indulge in a little post-work pampering, and now the cult blow dry bar is opening a brand new location.

Just weeks after opening their first salon, nestled above L'Occitane Wicklow Street, Dry & Fly Blow Dry Beauty Bar is extending their well-trussed hair styling tendrils out to Merrion Row.

A post shared by D R Y & F L Y (@dryandflydublin) on

The blow dry bar posted a puzzle to their Instagram page, which ultimately revealed the brand new location.

If you haven't been to the Wicklow Street haven yet, Dry & Fly is designed with the sole purpose of bringing women together for some quality time, all while getting pampered ahead of a night out.

The salon is open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday for those pre-night out blow dry sessions, and from 7am to 7pm through the rest of the week, so hopefully the new location will be the same.

Thr new spot is rumoured to be opening at the end of August, so keep those eyes peeled.

Not content with dominating the worlds of fashion and film, triple threat, Cara Delevingne, is now trying her hand in the music industry – but fans aren't convinced.

The 24-year-old shows off her singing skills in the newly-released single, I Can Feel Everything – a song recorded for the soundtrack of her latest film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and produced by Pharrell Williams.

The video is a montage of scenes from the upcoming flick cut with shots of the actress sporting a number of brightly coloured wigs.

Cara's quirky personality is clear to see as she dances in front of the cosmic background while pulling faces at the camera.

And while we can't say we're loving the song, we've got to hand it to Cara for trying to make a name for herself doing something she loves –  and who knows, maybe it's a grower?

Fans of the model turned actress seem to be equally conflicted and many have taken to Twitter have their say.

If it seems like the Luas Cross City route has been under construction for all eternity, that’s because it has.

But thankfully, the end is almost in sight.

And while we’ll soon be crossing the city in style, we will need to suck up a few more disturbances in the meantime, and it comes in the form of traffic disruptions at the beginning of August.

To facilitate essential work on the new route, there will be significant traffic disruptions on Dublin’s North and South Quays in effect from 8pm on Friday August 4 until 6am on Monday August 14.

Traffic travelling across O’Connell Street from North to South will be facilitated, however the public is being advised to expect significant traffic delays.

Further to this, there will be significant traffic disruptions on the North Quays (night time works only), inbound, on the approach to O’Connell Bridge beginning Tuesday 1st August.

The South City Quays at O’Connell Bridge (Aston Quay and Burgh Quay) will be closed to allow for Luas Cross City works with major traffic disruption expected on both sides of the River Liffey.

The Garda Press Office has provided the public with some helpful guidelines in order to best navigate the coming weeks in the city-centre:

1. Both North and South routes over O’Connell Bridge will remain open for a restricted capacity of vehicles but westbound traffic will be diverted through D’Olier Street and College Green

2. College Green will allow private cars access to the West of Dublin city for the duration of the quays’ closure.

3. On the north-side, restrictions will be put in place on Bachelor’s Walk and Ormond Quay Upper.

4. There will be no through-route past O’Connell Bridge on the South Quays and no right turn onto the bridge.

5. The public transport corridor that exists on Dame Street will be opened up to all traffic for the duration of the works (travelling Southbound only).

6. Traffic will be able to travel North from Westmoreland Street onto O’Connell Bridge but will not be able to turn left at the junction with Westmoreland Street and Aston Quay.
