School was difficult at the best of times, but if you were on the nervous side as a youngster, those six hours in the classroom could feel like a living hell.

From awkward chats at the bosca bruscair to the horror of being asked to do a sum on the blackboard IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY, school was a minefield and everyone had gotten an instruction manual except you, right?

Here are 20 (yes, just 20) things that would bring any nervy kid out in a cold sweat during what are supposed to be the best days of our lives.

1. Being left in charge of a younger class when you can barely look after yourself.
“So much responsibility on my young shoulders.”

2. Not getting a 'cool' reference
“What? Shifting? Yeah, do it all the time. Did it at breakfast.”

3. Not being able to find something for the Nature Table when you're Nature Leader that week.
"That's it. I can't take this pressure ANY MORE."

4. Being put in goals against your will.
“James, you're a reasonable man. Don't do this to me.”

5. Forgetting about the Trocaire Box until the last minute.
"Mam? Dad? Empty your pockets."

6. Cutting a circle that doesn't look like everybody else's circle.
"OH. MY. GOD."

7. When everyone one else's mam opts for clear plastic on their textbooks but your mam bumps for brown paper.
“It's like shes TRYING to give me anxiety.”

8. Being sent on a message halfway across the school.
“I'll never make it back in one piece… and oh my God is that person looking at me?”

9. Being forced to “gratefully accept” the offerings of classmates when you forgot your lunch.
“Oh for the love of… Spam.”

10. Having to move colour groups and make new friends.
“They don't know how I operate! They don't know my mode!”

11. Thinking you've left embarrassing notes in the library book you've ALREADY RETURNED.
 "I returned my diary too, didn't I?"

12. When a new person joins your class and gets friendly with everyone straight away.
“Who sent you?”

13. Thinking that someone thought you might have cheated.
“I wasn't looking! Oh God, I wasn't looking!”

14. Having to do anything more than a wee in the classroom toilet.
 "Just…..five …more…hours."

15. Not having your journal signed after a serious 'Take a walk to the principal's office'  warning.
"It's like I ENJOY feeling like this."

16. Not hearing a particular word during Friday's spelling test.
“I know! I'll guess…. hmmm… A.N.X.I.E.T.Y”

17. When your parents helped you with your Maths homework, but THEY DIDN'T DO IT LIKE TEACHER.
"But that's not how we did it when we were at school, pet."

18. Not being able to find a partner when your teachers says 'Pair-up'
 "I'm going to die alone."

19. Being asked to tell the class 'a little something' about yourself.
"Oh God, what do you want from me?"

20. Having to play with someone from another class because the teacher made you.
"Maybe let's not talk to each other."

Coronas frontman Danny O'Reilly comes from family bursting with musical talent, and we were given just a taster of it today, thanks to RTÉ.

The singer, accompanied by his sister Róisin O and cousin Aoife Scott, recorded a beautiful version of the Irish folk song Grace at Kilmainham Gaol recently, as part of RTÉ's Centenary celebration.

RTÉ released a short clip of the recording today, and it's simply beautiful – though there's no sign of Danny and Róisín's ma, Mary Black.

You've no doubt heard Grace at the odd trad sesh or pub lock-in, but what you might not know is that it only dates back to 1985, and was written in honour of Grace Gifford, who married Joseph Plunkett in Kilmainham Gaol just hours before his execution for his part in the Easter Rising.

So it's a very fitting tribute indeed.

RTÉ will show the full version of the song on Monday night during an evening of music which also features  Imelda May, Jack L, Gavin James, The High Kings, Colm Wilkinson, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Sharon Shannon, Dónal Lunny, John Sheahan, Celine Byrne, and Seo Linn.

Centenary kicks off on RTÉ One on Easter Monday at 9.35pm, with a live broadcast from the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

The awkward moment when you realise that scrumptious teacher you have a huge crush on is actually a male model, are we right?

Yeah, it's never happened to us either.

But it did happen to the students of the University College of London last year, when their maths professor and engineering PhD candidate Pietro Boselli happened to be just ridiculously good looking.

And it wasn't long before students realised that their hunky professor actually lived a double life as a fashion model and their posts quickly started to go viral.

Fast forward one year and the hunk has raked up over 870 thousand followers on Instagram as well as landing a major new contract.

Yep, the 28-year-old reportedly inked a deal with top fashion brand Giorgio Armani as the face of their athletic-inspired line EA7 (which is no surprise considering Pietro's serious ab game).

The model actually worked for Armani before in 1995 as the face of their junior campaign at just eleven years old. He then took a break from modelling until he was 18 before he was scouted and signed to a modelling agency.

Since then, the Italian has taken jobs with Vogue and Moschino as well as obtaining his PhD.

And he still finds the time to hit the gym and chisel those abs.

We'll just leave this here…

Phillip Schofield may be a successful television presenter but his true claim to fame is that he appeared in an episode of the infamous US sitcom, Friends.

Well, his voice appeared.

Yep, while interviewing former Friends actor Matthew Perry on This Morning, Phillip revealed that his laugh can be audibly heard in the audience during a particular scene in the show.

While the 53-year-old is very excited by this small part in Friends, Matthew was less than impressed.

"I think we have to talk about how much free time you have," said the actor.

What is it about Irish dads and their ability to turn your mood from neutral to THE HEIGHT OF STRESSED in two seconds flat?

They seem to exercise this power most often when the TV is involved, especially when you're just trying to binge-watch Orange Is The New Black in peace.

"Who's yer wan, at all? Is she off to a fancy dress party in that get-up? Why are there no MEN in this show?"

The folks over at The Irish Take have captured the intense annoyance of watching TV when your dad's in the room, with this epic video.

It's dubbed over a clip of Yvonne Connolly cooking on TV3's  Seven O'Clock Show, and it's pure genius (though a bit NSFW).

When you watch TV with your Dad……

Posted by The Irish Take on Wednesday, 23 March 2016

"She made a f**king b***cks of the kitchen altogether now, she's made a right f**king mess."

Yeah, cheers dad, you can go now. Seriously. GO.

As we all know, Dublin is a very historic town and we don't even notice the beautiful buildings that surround us sometimes.

Well, Airbnb does and it has some of the most gorgeous buildings on offer in the city.

From family homes to chic city apartments, there's something for everyone. And with the 1916 celebrations in full swing, you won't believe the history that happened in some of these places you can stay in:

Pearse Street

Padraig Pearse was the author of the Proclamation of Independence, and was present in the GPO during the Easter Rising. He was also the Commander in Chief of the Irish forces. Anyone visiting Dublin can stay on this historic street named after Padraig in a penthouse apartment with views of the city.

Dún Laoghaire

More than 2000 British soldiers arrived in Ireland through Kingston, which is now called Dún Laoghaire. This charming home is just minutes from the marina and is a fab location for soaking up the history of Dublin.

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle was one of the key locations the rebels failed to take during the Rising. You can stay in this amazing landmark which was Ireland’s armed police force headquarters until 1922 but now lies this chic city apartment.

Mount street

The area around Mount street and the canal is one of the most noteworthy 1916 locations and this Victorian house listed on Airbnb will allow visitors to Dublin to soak up the history of Dublin the minute they go out the front door.

Kilmainham

There were 16 executions in Kilmainham as a result of the Easter Rising and this Airbnb listing is the perfect place to stay for any history buffs visiting Dublin.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are total #relationshipgoals and we don't even have confirmation that the pair are a couple.

While they both are insisting that they are still single, rumours have been flying about this handsome pair since last Summer and they have only intensified since then.

After co-writing and releasing their hit song I Know What You Did Last Summer, this is for sure the cutest non-couple we have ever experienced.

1) They have a very cute on-stage rapport

Involving lots of laughing and lots of touching

2) Shawn Mendes described his dream girl…

And she sounded incredibly familiar

"I really like funny girls, girls with a witty sense of humor. If someone is able to catch onto what I’m saying very quickly, I find that very attractive. I really like brunettes… and also, dancers! I have a thing for dancers!"

Hmm.

3) This tweet

Because calling out your girl on social media is something we can only imagine a boyfriend doing…

4) When Shawn played this prank on Camila

Though we wouldn't mind waking up in a sea of sandwiches

5) There are too many adorable snaps of them together

We just need to know

6) When they're just messing around

All the goals

7) This entire video

And this entire song. So catchy.

Put us out of our misery guys.

It has been known for centuries that Japanese women have been washing their hair with rice water – yes, actual water they boiled their rice in – to stimulate growth and keep it strong and conditioned.

Many bloggers and hair stylists have made the DIY treatment, hailed the 'hair water' trend – but if you're lazy (like us) then a new brand has just made a version of it called Rice Water Hair Milk.

The all-natural skin and hair care brand Ash & Nectar, (which is sold on Etsy) came up with the formula which includes real rice water, rosemary for penetrating hair strands, lavender for conditioning and argan oil for treating split-ends.

Confused by how it works though? No worries, we'll lay it out for you.

First, wash and shampoo your hair as normal, then massage the rice water into your scalp and work your way down to the roots until it's fully covered.

Sit back and relax for 5 minutes to let the milk do its magic, and then rinse it out. Simple!

They may be the UK's most popular television hosts, but it seems like Ant & Dec are ready to try out something a bit different.

While they are not leaving the entertainment business any time soon, they have admitted that they are considering a leap from the TV to the stage.

Speaking to the Sun, Dec admitted that they are looking into other things now that their contract due to end with ITV next year.

"We haven't decided yet, me and Ant have talked but we haven't talked to ITV, we normally do it before we go off to the jungle for I'm A Celebrity.

"We will wait until Saturday Night Takeaway finishes and we will think about it. Our three big shows and the shows we love are on ITV.

"ITV is our home and we have been very lucky with them. But we are also evaluating and looking at other things."

And one of the things that the duo have been considering is in fact musical theatre.

"We loved doing Saturday Night Takeaway on tour so we are looking at the possibility of another tour or even theatre. We could do something with comedy in the West End, we are throwing around ideas.

"We are also looking to do a comedy next year. It is something we've been discussing for years."

Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay's on-screen connection as mother and son in Room is just incredible, but even off screen they're great friends.

After filming together, doing countless interviews, the full awards circuit and tonnes of promotion all over the world, the pair have a gorgeous bond, despite their 17 year age gap – Jacob is nine and Brie is 26.

Last night the pair marked their final day of promotion for the film with a toast in Japan, just as they had done two years previously when the film had its first screening at the Telluride Film Festival.

"28 weeks ago(according to Instagram) @roomthemovie premiered at the #telluridefilmfestival. After the screening @jacobtremblay and I toasted. He had chocolate milk and I had red wine," Brie wrote.

"I remember feeling so vulnerable after sharing this movie with the world for the first time; unsure of what was to come.

"Last night marked what may be our final toast to this film . He had a soda and I had sake. We are in Japan."

Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay

The actress went on to share some lovely memories of the time she had spent with her young co-star.

"Together we have travelled the globe, spent almost two years hanging out, playfully arguing about things like who can hold their breath longer and talking at length about Room.

"At its core, every step of the way has been taken with love. We were generous and patient with each other. We laughed a lot, especially when it was hard.

"We picked each other up, answered for the other when one was tired and always kept silliness alive.

"Thank you Room for bringing us together. Thank you Room for uniting us with the rest of the world. Thank you to everyone who shared this journey with us. I will never ever forget it."

Jacob shared Brie's post over on his own Instagram, saying he had had "the best time" and adding "bye bye room," in an echo of the film's last line.

We're going to miss these two together… now to wait for Emma Donoghue to write a sequel.

Rumour has been abound that John Giles – the very face of our national broadcaster's soccer coverage – was about to be dropped by RTÉ.

And this afternoon it has been confirmed that the sporting legend will leave Montrose after the Euros this summer.

"John has been an integral and much-loved part of our soccer coverage for over 30 years as well as a respected ambassador for the Irish football family as a whole," RTÉ said in a statement issued to SHEmazing.

"The Republic of Ireland's participation in this summer's tournament and RTÉ Sport's coverage is an apt occasion for John to bow out at the top and we wish him all the very best with his future endeavours."

It concluded: "It's been a privilege to work alongside John through some of the most thrilling times for Irish soccer and his contribution to our programming has been phenomenal."

It had been suggested that the 75-year-old former professional player was set to retire, but in a statement to the Herald, he said: “In my negotiations with RTÉ Head Of Sport Ryle Nugent last year, he made it clear to me that this was to be the final year of my full-time engagement with RTÉ.

“He said that this was designed to allow him to continue the requirement to plan and prepare for the future.

“This was perfectly understandable to me and I signed the contract which finishes after the Euro 2016 final in France in good faith.

“But I want to make it perfectly clear that I’m not retiring or even thinking about it.”

Mr Giles along with Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady are known as the Three Amigos. The late Bill O'Herlihy once described him as the best football pundit "in the world".

Irish make-up artist Chloe Boucher is a viral sensation, blonde bombshell and just, well, total beauty goals.

Knowing she wanted to become a make-up extraordinaire at the age of just 15, she got a degree in beauty from the LA College Of Creative Arts in Dublin, worked her way up with various beauty brands before becoming a total hit on social media.

So naturally when the Dublin native handed us down the holy grail of her top tips at the OPSH make-up workshop yesterday, we were all ears:

1) Use concealer to enhance the face

Forgot to thank @fifiloveslashes for fixing my brows and making me feel human again #browsonfleek #makeup #blonde #bblogger

"Contouring is out," says the 23-year-old.

"If you have areas of your face highlighted, your face will start to contour itself."

Chloe recommends using a liquid concealer that is at least a shade lighter than your foundation colour. Applying this to areas of the face that catch the light (forehead, cheekbones, chin etc) will enhance those areas and naturally contour the face.

Use a soft powder bronzer on the cheeks and forehead if you would like a more enhanced look.

2) Use powder to set

This is especially important to the girls that have oily skin.

"Oils in your skin mix with the oils in your foundation causing it to come off in blobs.

"That's why I always recommend using some sort of powder to set your cream products."

Chloe uses a light, mineralise powder to set her make-up and recommends it being a shade lighter than your foundation so as not to counter-act your highlighting.

3) Brush them brows

"Never put product in your brows without brushing them first.

"Brushing your brows upwards can really lift the face."

When using products, Chloe loves to use powder applied with a precision brush for a soft, natural look but recommends pencils to fill in gaps and brow-gels to set brows for the whole day.

4) Go with eye-shadow shades that compliment your eyes

According to Chloe, blue eyes work really well with golden brown tones while green eyes are enhanced by red hues as well as purples.

"Brown eyes can pretty much wear anything."

She recommends using a brown base for a soft, smokey eye and blending out the shadow with tones that suit your eye shade.

5) Lining the eye

"Use nude eyeliner on the waterline to make eyes look bigger.

"If you have naturally big eyes you can define them with a black or brown liner."

And she even gave us tips on how to achieve the notoriously difficult winged eyeliner look: "A lot of people do their wings starting from the top, but you want to start at the bottom.

She recommends doing the liner across your lid first and doing the winged part after, starting from the outer corner of your outer eye.

"Follow your natural eye shape and then just connect-the-dots."

6) Enhance those lips

"Clean up dark lip colours with concealers for the perfect statement lip."

Chloe swears by lip-liners but reckons you need a little extra help from concealer to get clean, defined lips when applying dark colours.

To make lips standout and look bigger, she recommends contouring the area by applying a smidge of bronzer just below the lower lip.
