So grab your pals and head to ODEON cinemas to enjoy a kick-ass flick led by the amazing Brie Larson.

Marvels first female superhero, Captain Marvel is hitting the screen at ODEON's to its 11 cinemas nationwide  on March 8.

The Marvel blockbuster stars Brie Larson as an ex-pilot who after an accident gains superpowers and joins an intergalactic team called Starforce.

Brie Larson said, “It’s so interesting, as it’s not something I thought about until I was in the cinema watching Wonder Woman. About two minutes in, I was sobbing and thought, 'Why am I crying so much over this?'''

She continued, ''But it was seeing all of these warrior women who were so self-sufficient. That wasn’t something I identified with growing up – my hero was Indiana Jones. To have the chance to be one example of this is powerful and exciting.''

Our plans for this evening are definitely sorted – Happy International Women's Day one and all.

When it comes to the highly acclaimed in Hollywood, there are few who haven't spoken of the struggles they endured in their journey to stardom.

Form triple-jobbing in order to pay for acting classes to persisting against constant rejection, there aren't many Hollywood A-listers whose story doesn't include countless obstacles and upheavals.

And Oscar-winner, Brie Larson, is no different.

Speaking to Hot Press, the 27-year-old actress, whose role in Room won the acclaim of critics and cinema-goers alike, admitted that she came close to quitting countless times, and on some occasions actually turned her back on acting.

"I threw in the towel a lot. A lot! I couldn’t take the ‘no’s over and over," she revealed while reflecting on her career thus far.

"I was acting since I was seven years old and a reoccurring problem I used to have was never fitting the mould of what they were after," she admitted.

Like many actresses, the California-native found herself on the receiving end of continuous criticism from those within the industry, saying: "I was never fully right, I was never that desired package."

"I wasn’t pretty enough, I wasn’t plain enough, and I found myself so many times, getting so close and hitting that wall."

The actress explains that her career was littered with moments which forced her to reconsider her path – obstacles which were soon overcome by the emergence of a project or role she could get her teeth into.

"I didn’t have anything to my name. And that happened a few times where I would find myself down to the last dollar, backed up against a wall, ready to quit and the next day, something would come up and I would be saved. This wasn’t even that long ago."

In addition to her Academy Award, Brie has also received a Screen Actor's Guild Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe.

Brie Larson has fast become one of our favourite actresses since her performance in Room.

And now the Oscar winner is engaged! Her long-time boyfriend, musician Alex Greenwald, whisked her away to Tokyo to propose in March, E! News has confirmed.

The pair are known for keeping their relationship quiet and have rarely been out in public together since their early days.

However, throughout Brie's career, she's made many references to him that are just too adorable.

"I'd like to thank my boyfriend, Alex Greenwald, for making me pasta and taking care of our puppy while I made this movie," she said at the Gotham Independent Film Awards back in 2013. Awww.

Last Saturday, Brie was seen wearing a sparkler on her ring finger on SNL which prompted the rumours and Alex's rep confirmed the news today.

She's going to be such a gorgeous bride!

Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay's on-screen connection as mother and son in Room is just incredible, but even off screen they're great friends.

After filming together, doing countless interviews, the full awards circuit and tonnes of promotion all over the world, the pair have a gorgeous bond, despite their 17 year age gap – Jacob is nine and Brie is 26.

Last night the pair marked their final day of promotion for the film with a toast in Japan, just as they had done two years previously when the film had its first screening at the Telluride Film Festival.

"28 weeks ago(according to Instagram) @roomthemovie premiered at the #telluridefilmfestival. After the screening @jacobtremblay and I toasted. He had chocolate milk and I had red wine," Brie wrote.

"I remember feeling so vulnerable after sharing this movie with the world for the first time; unsure of what was to come.

"Last night marked what may be our final toast to this film . He had a soda and I had sake. We are in Japan."

The actress went on to share some lovely memories of the time she had spent with her young co-star.

"Together we have travelled the globe, spent almost two years hanging out, playfully arguing about things like who can hold their breath longer and talking at length about Room.

"At its core, every step of the way has been taken with love. We were generous and patient with each other. We laughed a lot, especially when it was hard.

"We picked each other up, answered for the other when one was tired and always kept silliness alive.

"Thank you Room for bringing us together. Thank you Room for uniting us with the rest of the world. Thank you to everyone who shared this journey with us. I will never ever forget it."

Jacob shared Brie's post over on his own Instagram, saying he had had "the best time" and adding "bye bye room," in an echo of the film's last line.

We're going to miss these two together… now to wait for Emma Donoghue to write a sequel.

It's rare that a Best Actor and Best Actress from the same Oscars year feature in a film together – so rare, in fact, that it hasn't happened since 1997's As Good As it Gets – but this year that's exactly what went down.

Leonardo DiCaprio may have scooped the Academy Award for his role in The Revenant last Sunday night, but he also makes an appearance in one other very noteworthy film from this year's contenders, Lenny Abrahamson's Room.

Well, kinda.

US studio A24, who distributed the film Stateside, took to Twitter earlier this week to point out that Leo's face does indeed appear just a few feet away from Best Actress winner Brie Larson during one scene:

See what they did there?

Unlike Leo's cameo, both Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson had moving, speaking roles in As Good As It Gets, before being awarded Best Actress and Best Actor respectively for their parts in the film.

If you ask us though, the role of Teen Heartthrob Poster should definitely have earned Leo some kind of award,

We may now associate Brie Larson with joining the ranks of up-and-coming young actresses paving their way in the film industry with standout performances and big wins but Brie has been in the entertainment for a long time.

And this is well before her big break in Room.

In fact, the 26-year-old was once a fresh-faced teen actress on the Disney Channel and also dabbled in the music business.

Brie starred as the sister of one of the main protagonists in the movie Right on Track which she shared a picture from in a recent tweet.

In 2005, at the age of sixteen she turned her attentions to music, a passion in which she still has an avid interested despite not releasing new music in many years.

A highlight of her stint in music is definitely the music video for She Said in which she plays a hard-done-by teen moaning about life and wearing excessive eyeliner (as we all were at sixteen).

The video involves Brie as a waitress in a fast food chain in an Avril Lavingne-esque pop song and it's all kinds of nostalgic fun.

Brie has acted constantly since her teens most recently in 21 Jump Street and lending her musical talents to the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World before landing her first lead role in a motion picture in Lenny Abrahamson's Room for which she scooped up the Oscar.

We gotta give this girl props for all her hard work getting to where she is today, but Brie we need more music from you…

Okay so we will be the first to admit that having a slight obsession with a 9-year-old is borderline creepy, but we simply cannot get enough of rising star Jacob Tremblay.

From his ridiculously good looking parents to his wise-beyond-his-years chatshow persona, the Room star is taking Hollywood and our hearts by storm.

With none other than his co-star Brie Larson being his all time BIGGEST fan, we can say with a certain degree of confidence that this kid is uber-talented and seriously going places.

While on an impressive press stint for his highly-praised performance in Room, here is 7 times Jacob Tremblay owned this awards season.

What a sweetie.

Nine year old Jacob Tremblay delivers a heart-wrenching performance in the Oscar-nominated Room, and he proved last night that he's just as much of a winner off screen.

Stepping on stage to speak after winning the Critics' Choice Best Young Actor Award, Jacob declared the win as "super cool," adding that it must have been "a super hard vote because of all the other great actors in this category."

After struggling to reach the microphone – even while standing on a box – Jacob soon found his feet and went on to thank Team Room "who is Lenny, Brie, Emma, Ed and, um, all the other producers over there."

How adorable?! And we're clearly not the only ones who think so:

Jacob finished up his speech by saying he knew exactly where to put his award… "On the shelf beside my Millennium Falcon."

While little Jacob isn't up for an Oscar for his role in Room, he'll no doubt get a chance to step on stage at some point.

The Irish-made film is up for a whole host of awards on the night including Best Director, Best Actress and Best Picture.

Is there any limit to Saoise Ronan's talents?

She has just been nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Brooklyn and it now turns out that the Irish actress can also sing.

In a video for W Magazine, a number of famous faces were asked to reinterpret Drake's stellar tune, Hotline Bling.

And evidently in good spirits, the Dublin born talent donned a blonde wig and belted out the tune at the top of her lungs.

While some simply read the lyrics and others attempted to act it out, we just love watching Saoirse having a good time.

Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen do a pretty hysterical reading but we also love Brie Larson giving the tune socks as well.

We have been anticipating the release of Room for well over a year now and thank goodness, we don't have to wait much longer.

To appease our appetites, a brand new trailer has been released and it has pretty much cemented the fact that this will no doubt be the first film we go to see in 2016.

Based on the hit novel of the same name written by Irish author Emma Donoghue, the movie version has been tackled by esteemed Irish director Lenny Abrahamson, known for such titles as Frank and What Richard Did

Room tells the story of a mother, played by up and coming American actress Brie Larson, and her 5-year-old son who are finally released back into the world after years spent in captivity.

The film is already receiving highly positive reviews and there are murmurs that the film may enjoy some Oscar nominations at the 2016 awards.

Room will be in cinemas on the 15th of January, but in the meantime enjoy the trailer below.
