We’ve all been there. You step out of the house looking downright perfect but through a horrific combination of wind, rain and sheer bad luck you arrive to your destination looking like the Bride of Frankenstein.

We can’t solve every problem, but when it comes to quick fixes for fashion emergencies, we do have a few tricks to share. Here are a few of our go-to hacks for those unexpected sartorial issues…

1. Your hem is unravelling
A few unruly threads or a loose piece of fabric can make an otherwise sleek outfit look messy and dishevelled. If you don’t have time to whip out a needle and thread at work (who does?), simply tape the hem on the inside with double-sided tape or a few strips of regular Sellotape.

2. You smudged make-up on your clothes
Before you start mourning the loss of your perfect white top, get to work on the offending area with a baby wipe. These little magic sheets are a great quick fix on stubborn make-up stains!

3. You have a ladder in your tights
If the run is small enough to be hidden under your dress or shoe, you’re in luck – a quick dab of clear nail polish on either end of the ladder or a spritz of hairspray all over will stop it getting longer.

4. Your dog kindly donated some of his hairs to your coat
If you don’t have a lint roller handy to get rid of pesky dog or cat shedding, wind some sticky tape around your fingers and press the tape onto the garment to remove hairs instantly without damaging the fabric.

5. Your bra straps are on show
Faded grey-white bra straps aren’t the best look when peeking out from your new dress or top. Rein them in by pulling the straps together in a racerback style and securing with a safety pin or a couple of paper clips. Easy!

6. Static is ruining the look of your flowing dress/skirt
That lovely silk dress looked amazing on in the shop but now that you’re finally wearing it outside, the flowing skirt is sticking to your legs and stomach in a VERY attractive manner. Reduce the static that causes loose silk fabrics to cling by spraying the inside of the skirt and your tights with hairspray.

Spencer Matthews is never one to be single for very long – and now it seems he has gotten himself another victim, sorry GIRLFRIEND.

The Made In Chelsea star is renowned for his bad behaviour when it comes to his former girlfriends such as Lucy, Stephanie and Louise.

Now it has been revealed the star is dating Lauren Hutton, a socialite who it has been reported Spencer has been trying to get close to for months.

Although at first hesitant (we can’t say we blame her) Lauren eventually fell for Spencer: “It took Lauren a while to warm to Spencer, thanks to his reputation with the ladies … She thought he was too much of a player. But after giving him a chance and spending a bit time with him, she finally caved in.”

The new couple showed off their Halloween outfits on Twitter and looked very smitten together – we wonder if Lauren will make an appearance on MIC?

This could shake things up a bit…

Jimmy Kimmel is back with another rendition of I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy.

We never thought we’d see Ed Sheeran singing a duet with Wayne Rooney – in fact we never thought we’d come across them together at all.

The two were recorded singing Ed’s hit Lego House in a pub last month and the video has begun to gain a LOT of attention online.

Mainly because it’s Ed Sheeran…AND Wayne Rooney.

While Ed could be crooning to Jennifer Aniston or even Stevie Wonder if he so wished, here he is singing a song with Wayne.

Love that guy.

Say it ain’t so!

We were getting so excited about an upcoming wedding for One Direction star Zayn Malik and Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards – but now it looks like we’ll have some waiting to do…

The couple have been engaged since August 2013 but Zayn has admitted they haven’t been planning the big day at all yet: “We haven’t really had any time to sit and organise it.”

The singer also added that he will have a hard time choosing a best man: “I think it will be quite hard to pick just one.”

Adding fuel to the fire that this wedding may never happen, Harry Styles quipped: “They did it for the presents, how many times do I have to tell everyone?”

Zayn and Perrie had sparked rumours of a secret marriage when the One Direction star was spotted wearing a band and again when he threw his fiancée an elaborate birthday party, rumoured to have been a wedding.

If you’ve ever asked your boyfriend/mum/best friend what they think of your outfit and they’ve said “it looks GREAT” just a little too quickly, you’ve probably been a victim of a carefully chosen white lie.

Much as we all value honesty, sometimes it’s difficult to tell someone that the outfit they’ve been planning for weeks just doesn’t suit them.

A new app promises to take the stress out of getting dressed up for all parties involved. Next time you’re dubious about what your bum looks like in those leather pants, or you’re worried you’ve got too much back fat going on for that strapless dress, you can simply ask any number of strangers worldwide to weigh in with their opinions with the help of Okay Fashion.

All “fashion advisers” are divided up by country and generally need to have some sort of credential such as a marked interest in fashion or a rating from other users. The app itself also recommends certified advisers depending on your location – so you’re not going to end up showing your new dress off to some random creep.

Hmm… we must say we like the sound of this… as long as people don’t get TOO honest! The colour of our dress is an acceptable topic of discussion… but our pasty Irish skin and cellulite? Not so much!

Actress Amanda Seyfried fits the Hollywood norm – she’s a tall, slim blonde with a stunning face and great style. But she recently opened up about the struggles she faced – and still faces – to stay thin enough to satisfy movie bosses.

“Fun fact: I almost lost out on several roles in my career because I was overweight. Wrong, America,” wrote the 28-year-old on Twitter earlier this month. While it’s clear to see that the Mamma Mia star is nowhere near overweight, it’s sadly not a shock to hear that she, or any actress, was turned down for a role because they weren’t rake thin.

Hollywood’s ideals of beauty are something that not only affect the elite big screen names. The pressure to fit into a certain slim and “beautiful” mould is something that has filtered through to everyone else, too.

Each time we open a magazine or turn on the TV we are greeted with images of bodies that are so far removed from what is actually normal that we constantly feel inferior and as if we can never compete. Stars like Lena Dunham and Christina Hendricks are celebrated for having curves – but they are simply the exception to the rule that being thin is the aim of the game. This Victoria's Secret ad caused huge controversy recently for suggesting that the "perfect body" could only belong to a size zero lingerie model:

Another huge misconception we need to deal with is the belief that not only are all those Hollywood stars thin, but that it takes no effort whatsoever for them. It’s just the product of good genes, not the result of a hugely restrictive diet and an exhausting exercise regime.

Amanda has spoken openly about what it takes to keep her figure red carpet worthy – but she seems to be one of few. In a 2010 interview, the star said she felt overwhelming pressure to stay slim.

“If I didn't run and work out, there's no way I would be this thin," she said to Glamour magazine. "But I have to stay in shape because I'm an actress. It's f**ked up and it's twisted, but I wouldn't get the roles otherwise.”

In another interview that same year with Esquire, the actress admitted her diet for Les Miserables was “intense” and “awful,” adding that her lunch that day had consisted of “Spinach. Just spinach. Spinach and some seeds."

While it’s great to hear someone speaking honestly about the pressures of being in the media spotlight, it’s sad that the issues are generally brushed under the carpet by others. There’s no shame in going to the gym, or denying yourself that bar of chocolate. However many celebrities prefer to pretend their incredible bodies are down to a combination of fast metabolisms and good luck, as if by being famous they suddenly become blessed with the power to stay effortlessly toned and lean.

Society’s view of what is beautiful might change someday, but it won’t be any time soon. In the meantime it would be great if there was at least some more honesty out there – so that the rest of us know we’re not the only ones who worry every so often about what we see in the mirror.

It wasn’t all that long ago that Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas slammed rumours that he and Bollywood actress Amy Jackson had broken up – but it seems to be for real this time.

It has been reported that conflicting schedules and long-distance struggles are to blame for the break up.

Amy’s career in India has skyrocketed following her appearance in many Bollywood films.

Thankfully, the split is said to be amicable for the pair.

OK, we admit it, some hangovers are so epic that nothing short of industrial paint and a paper bag over your head would disguise it, but there are many times when a little savviness in the make-up department can go a very long way.

We’re not just talking about a dash of the right concealer (although, obviously that helps) but a few tips and tricks which can make the world of difference the morning after the night before.

Yes, you’ve lost your phone and trailed curry chips through the house and the last thing on your mind right now is how you’re going to look in work the next day, but maybe you should take it in to account for a second!

1) Rest your weary, drunken head on more than one pillow before you drift off. Sleeping on an elevated surface reduces puffiness around the eyes, a tell-tale sign you were on the beer the night before.

2) Wearing your hair pulled back from your face has an uplifting effect on your facial features. It will actually give you the appearance of a mini-facelift which will, in turn, make you look more alert and less like you’re bemoaning the loss of your third iPhone.

3) Your mouth is not the only part of you that feels like Ghandi’s flip flop ladies, your skin will also be crying out for some hydrating. So, why not invest in a moisturising serum, which is specifically anti-hangover and anti-aging, for the mornings where you’re not your normal fabulous self. Slather it on, girls and we mean, slather.

4) Stay away from the kohl and use a neutral eyeliner on your peepers the next morning instead. This will make your eyes appear brighter and fresher. Makes sense!

5) Skip your foundation application. Wait girls, hear us out! How many times have your applied foundation to your sad, hungover face and had it cake on top of your poor, dehydrated skin? Instead, stick to the moisturiser and then add a little highlighter and concealer to the needier areas. You’ll be surprised how much fresher you’ll look.

Did you notice? We didn’t tell you to drink twelve litres of water when you get in and remove every last scrap of your disco face before face-planting upside down on your roommate’s bed. While the former may be recommended, that doesn’t mean it’s always realistic.

So go forth, eat your curry chips with one eye open and sleep sob about your phone, but the next morning get your head in the game and damage control that beautiful albeit seriously sleep-deprived face of yours.

Kendall Jenner celebrated her 19th birthday yesterday with a family lunch in Los Angeles – though not all the family were invited along!

While Kourtney, Khloé and mum Kris were all present for the gathering in Bel Air, Kim and Kylie were nowhere to be seen.

Far from having an important engagement to attend, Kylie was pictured leaving a hair salon in Beverly Hills around the same time as the family event took place.

Wow… that's pretty much the Kardashian version of the "I'm washing my hair that night" excuse!

Her absence sparked rumours that all is not well between the Jenner sisters, with a source telling RadarOnline that the two have not been getting on lately. "It is a competition between them now as to who can be the more famous Jenner and it is destroying their relationship," said the insider.

As for big sis Kim, she apparently was told nothing about Kendall's birthday plans, which included the family lunch and a girls' dinner later that evening.

Khloé spilled the beans in an interview with People, saying, "I asked Kim, 'Oh, are you going tonight?' and she was like, 'I didn't know Kendall was doing anything!' I don't know if she was late to be invited, but I'm invited, so I feel good about that!"

Despite being reportedly left off the invite list, Kim was the first to wish her half-sister a happy birthday, with a cute message on Instagram shortly after midnight yesterday. The star posted a stunning picture of Kendall along with the caption, "To the sweetest girl in the world Happy Birthday I love you so much @kendalljenner."

Kylie remained silent on social media – we can only hope she gave Kendall her greetings in person?!

Even without two members of the Kardashian clan there, the birthday girl was clearly delighted with how her day went – she posted this appreciative snap to Instagram yesterday with the caption, "love on top of LOVE. so much love today!!!"

Happy birthday, Kendall!

Some lovely baby news this morning! Hunger Games and America Beauty actor Wes Bentley has revealed he's become a father for the second time, with wife Jacqui Swedberg.

The couple welcomed their new daughter back in June but had kept things under wraps for four whole months, until Wes' rep finally confirmed the news to Us Weekly. Quite the achievement!

Wes and Jacqui have named their little one Brooklyn – we wonder what the Beckhams had to say about that?!

The pair are already parents to three-year-old Charles.

Before playing terrifying game maker Seneca Crane in the first Hunger Games film, Wes made a name for himself with his role as Ricky Fitts in the 1999 Oscar-winning American Beauty.

However an addiction to heroin and cocaine spanning ten years meant he was rarely in the spotlight afterwards. "I came to Hollywood and I got caught up in all the glitz and glamour of the nightlife,” he said in an interview about his decade-long battle with hard drugs, which he finally beat in 2009.

“All the stuff I had no idea about in Arkansas. In a way, it made me a little more prone to it. It was like looking behind the curtain. And I went behind the curtain and hung out.”

We're glad to hear Wes has moved on, and we wish the growing family all the best!

Are you feeling a little taken for granted in your relationship?  Almost like you put in most of the effort and he’s happy to just go along for the ride? Or worse, do you feel like your attempts to spend time with him are being subtly rejected, cut short, or even worse, ignored? Unfortunately girls, you really only have ONE option; talk to him about it and you’ll probably soon see that this kind of thing can often be a case of crossed wires.

Scenario: You want to meet up and he says he can see you some time after eight, although you know he’s just sitting around his place all day. Why the restricted scheduling? Yes, yes, we’re all for our own space, but it doesn’t feel great when you think like you can only be ‘received’ at a certain time.

Reasons: He could be hungover, in a bad mood or washing his jocks, and he doesn’t want to inflict his beer breath, sad face or stanking laundry pile on you. HE thinks he’s doing the right thing, YOU feel like a burden.

Solution: You need to tell him that not every occasion has to be a lovey-dovey date night and you’re happy to hang out even if he’s not in the best of humour. A few minutes with you and he’ll be in flying form, anyway, right? You want him to feel comfortable enough with you that even at his worst, time spent together can be really worthwhile.

Scenario: When you’re invited out by his friends, you go. It doesn’t really matter what it is, you’ll go because it’s lovely that his friends are so eager to see you, it’s lovely that he wants to show you off and It’s lovely that you love him. So, why is he absent from so many of YOUR friend’s group shots?

Reasons: Consider the dynamic. Maybe his friends are more of a mixed bunch? Would you be as willing to go out with them if there wasn’t such a large female contingent in his crew, generally made up of girl mates and other girlfriends? Your group on the other hand is a little more Sex and the City and a little less Happy Endings. He could feel uncomfortable being the only guy at an all-girl dinner every second weekend. YOU feel foolish, HE feels intimidated.

Solution: Tell him you want HIM to get to know YOUR friends as well as YOU know HIS. That's probably all he needs to hear to realise he’s been dragging his feet in this regard. Merge both your groups on nights out. It doesn’t have to be one or the other, so decide on something that both gangs would enjoy (We’re Irish. A pub? OK, sorted.) and bask in your new extended buddy group.

Scenario: You decide on the location, date and activity and he just complies and offers no alternative. Does he even CARE what you do together anymore?

Reasons: While it might seem like he doesn't bother making an effort, maybe it's a case that he doesn't care what the pair of you do as long as you're doing it together. HE think he's doing the right thing by letting you choose what makes you happy, YOU feel like he's placating you and isn't interested so you end up trailing around the shops AGAIN.

Solution: Be completely clear when you attempt to communicate this issue. Suggest you know he thinks he's making you happy and you genuinely appreciate his approach, but it would be nice to drop the reigns for a while and have him do the organising.

The key to issues like this is communication, communication, communication. We all know that many of our problems grow legs when we bottle them up and stew over them, so you need to speak up! The poor lad probably has no idea you feel like you do, so give him the opportunity to sort it out!

But girls, if you do attempt to hash them out and it's falling on deaf ears or you're left feeling like a drama queen, then maybe the issues go far deeper than him just needing some time in his man-cave, girl-free. If he's as into the relationship as you are, then there's no reason why addressing them should cause problems. If not, then maybe it's time to heave-ho?
