What you need to know about hair extensions

Extensions are great if you have thin hair or just can’t seem to grow it longer than your shoulder – seriously, what is with that?!

However, there are a few things you need to know before you invest (a lot) of money into your hair.

Fine hair? Avoid glue-ins
If you have fine hair, you need to avoid glue-in hair extensions. The glue can actually be thicker than your hair making it harder to remove – eek, sounds painful!

Getting used to it
It will take a bit of getting used to, and not like the getting-used-to-a-new-cut kind of used to. Styling will be awkward for a while but it will get easier – we promise.

Don’t just go to anyone
Seriously, when it comes to your hair, professionalism goes a long, long way! Don’t just pop into any ole hairdressers – you want to be sure they’ve done this before, even if it means paying a little more.

Taking care of them
If you have synthetic extensions avoid using any hot styling tools. If you want to continue to rock GHD curls or have poker straight hair, you may want to consider going for human hair. You also can’t wash synthetic ones like you would normal hair.

Khloé Kardashian comes under fire for bizarre birthday message

Khloé Kardashian has posted mugshots of herself and Scott Disick looking like something off America’s Most Wanted on Instagram to celebrate his 31st birthday.

She captioned the snap, “Happy birthday to my partner in crime @letthelordbewithyou I love you LD!!”

Not yet ‘Lord Disick’ back then, Scott was only 18 when he pleaded guilty to a non-criminal charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Khloé was arrested for DUI in March 2007 and was sentenced to three years’ probation.

She later admitted to violating that probation by failing to sign up for alcohol-education class in a timely manner and ended up spending about three hours in jail after being sentenced to a possible 30 days.

“What I could have done is just unthinkable,” Khloé said on The Tyra Banks Show in 2008. “I will never, ever do that again.”

While the birthday message could be seen as a bit of harmless fun, some fans have deemed it ‘totes inappropes!’

One person tweeted, “This is just totes inappropes! She wasn’t laughing at the time, but now it’s funny?!”

Kourtney Kardashian is said to pretty annoyed at the snap too, as she’d rather just forget Scott’s bad boy past which has caused a lot of rows between the couple since they met.

Uh-oh.

The natural ways to ease your PMS woes

If you’re like most girls on earth, you have a hate-hate relationship with PMS.

Mood swings, bloating, uncontrollable food cravings – they really kick our ass every month don’t they!

But before you raid the medicine cabinet, here are a few alternative remedies to help ease your monthly woes.

Supplements
A recent study showed that vitamin E and fatty acids are amazing for easing those PMS mood swings, sore breasts, cramps, headaches and bad skin. A daily multivitamin should supply you with the Vitamin E you need, and you can pop a daily fish-oil capsule to get your fatty acids.

Acupuncture
Research shows acupuncture is ace at treating PMS cramps, insomnia, headaches and nausea. Most women are said to experience PMS relief within 24 hours after a session, so depending on your reaction, you might want to get treated once a month in the week before your period.

Herbs
New studies have shown thyme to be pretty effective in easing PMS woes. Evening primrose may help alleviate anxiety and cramps, while valerian root, an ingredient in many teas, can ease bloated tummies.

Sweating and stretching
Mild forms of exercise can ease several PMS symptoms, including cramps and headaches. Working out not only releases pain-busting endorphins but also triggers dopamine (your natural source of pleasure and satisfaction) and serotonin (a depression and anxiety fighter). And doing hip and back stretches can increase blood flow to contracted uterine, abdominal, and lower-back muscles, easing the tension that leads to cramps.

Solange Knowles will probably be more known lately for fighting with her brother-in-law Jay-Z, rather than her own music.

But it’s not all bad for Solange, as it’s been revealed that her recent record sales have soared as a result of the controversy.

Apparently her record sales have increased over 233% and according to Nielson SoundScan the same week in which that CCTV footage was released, digital sales for her single Sandcastle Disco were up 600 from the previous week.

Well, we’re not really surprised given all the publicity she’s got recently but we doubt Solange sees this as a good thing.

You only have to unpack once
Seriously, unpacking and repacking has got to be the most annoy thing about travelling.

You will always have a view of the sea
People on land pay top dollar for this

The amount of places you’ll see
You will experience more cities in a week then you would travelling around by plane.

Money
You don’t have to worry about carrying around a load of money – most things, including food, are paid for before you even get on the ship.

Meet other people
We admit this can be done on any holiday, but this way you won’t lose them as they move on to other places – you’re all stuck together until you go to land.

Comfy bed
The best thing about a cruise is the fact that while you are travelling you have a comfy bed to lie down on – you won’t get this on an aeroplane!

The activities
Depending on which cruise you pick, there can be so many activities on board that you won’t have to leave.

Ed Sheeran does something amazing for his hometown

Singer, Ed Sheeran has revealed that he is planning on converting a former police station in his hometown of Framlingham, Suffolk into a youth centre.

According to sources, the 23-year-old singer has invested £1.6 million into the construction project.

Ed Sheeran spoke of his excitement for the youth centre recently and said he discovered his own love of music at his local youth centre before it got sold on.

”I’m really excited about the project. I had a youth club from when I was 12 when I grew up which did a battle of the bands every week and that’s where I and other bands started playing. Then the land the club was on was sold… and I just went off to London and did shows instead. Now there’s no youth club and nothing to do so it’s a bad situation.”

But Sheeran also admitted that the youth club will factor into his future retirement plans.

“The plan when I get older is to end up running that (the youth club) – so I have pretty much planned my retirement.”

Awww that’s sweet Ed, but we don’t think you will be retiring for a long time yet.

Just another reason to love Niall Horan!

Niall Horan has certainly won our hearts after his brief stay in Ireland this week.

First it was the formation of the ultimate bromance with the great Brian O’Driscoll, than he gave the ultimate shout-out to his hometown Mullingar, during Saturday night’s performance.

But Niall proved what a complete gent he really is, by making one six-year-old’s dreams come true yesterday.

Ahead of his Sunday show in Croke Park, Niall met with Leah Hession and signed some of her One Direction items.

Leah’s mum, Lorraine said that she and her daughter were taken completely by surprise by Niall’s appearance.

“I didn’t know about it. We were in the room a few minutes and then Niall walked in. He was on his own and didn’t have security or an entourage. He must have spent five minutes with us and he 100 per cent made the effort with Leah.”

Leah is battling a rare form of kidney cancer and Lorraine’s mum revealed that the whole encounter felt like a dream to her daughter.

“He was so kind and generous and hugged her and signed all of her memorabilia. Leah keeps asking was it a dream. This has given us precious memories that will be with us forever.”

Niall went on Twitter today to thank his fans “for an incredible weekend”.

Whitney Houston’s family are livid over movie of her life

Whitney Houston’s family are said to be absolutely furious over a movie about her life.

The late superstar’s loved ones are livid that the Angela Basset-directed film depicting Whitney’s rocky relationship with her ex-husband Bobby Brown is being planned as a TV movie because they feel she deserves so much more.

Whitney’s sister Pat Houston said, ”Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening.”

The singer’s family has reportedly already told Lifetime – the makers of the movie – that they are NOT happy and are said to be threatening a lawsuit if the network refuses to cancel production.

Whitney’s family are instead planning their own big screen movie in the style of Michael Jackson’s This Is It, which they feel would be a more fitting tribute to the musical icon.

Meanwhile, the Lifetime movie is set for release in 2015 and will see Oscar-nominated actress Angela, who starred opposite Whitney in Waiting to Exhale, make her directorial début.

S! TV FASHION: NCAD Rising stars fashion show

On Friday night fifteen graduating designers showcased their work at the annual National College of Art and Design, each showing six pieces from their graduate collections.

In addition to showcasing their work at the show, NCAD students also got the chance to rub shoulders with some of the leading names of Ireland’s fashion scene. Renowned Irish designer Carolyn Donnelly was there to support her daughter, Lily Spain, and her classmates. Celebrated designer Helen Steele was also there, as well as other high-profile guests included Anne Heffernan, representing Dunnes Stores, the shows sponsor.

Jordin Sparks shares an adorable bed selfie with Jason Derulo

Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo have been dating for over three years now, but like most couples, they still have difficulties in trying to capture the perfect candid shot.

Jordin wanted to prove just how loved up her and Jason are with this adorable bed selfie, but the singer admitted it took a lot effort on her part to get Jason to play along.

The singer captioned the shot of Jason and her in bed: “This is the end result face that happens when I’m trying to get @jasonderulo to smile! It took an hour!! Lmao! #talksmilestome #smilingismyfavorite”

Jason also went onto to share the same snap on his Instagram account and told the same story in his captions.

“I’m not in2 smiling 4 pics all the time but @jordinsparks cracked jokes 4 an hr 2 get this pic lol what’s wrong with my “mean mug”? #ilowkeydigthispic”

But despite the efforts it took to get this selfie, they do look adorable in it together.
