Yearly Archives: 2014

It happens to most of us at least once a day. We walk past a stranger, fleetingly make eye contact, decide they're our one true love and that we want to marry them, and then… SNAP. They're gone. And with them your dreams of Prince Charming!

A new (only slightly weird) app aims to help you turn those passing crushes into something real. Crush Feed allows users to post descriptions of people they randomly fancy – be it someone on the Luas, the bus, at a gig or in Tesco.

If someone's new post matches your physical description, you'll get an alert. You can then choose to connect and chat with your admirer, or you can of course back out and say no more about it.

There's also a public wall where all recent posts can be seen and voted on – so creeps won't be tolerated, hopefully!

The whole thing seems like a bit of a long shot, but we can still see ourselves sneakily checking it out on the 46A tomorrow morning!

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has been lying to us…because it turns out she CAN speak French.

Before she met her new husband, she just let the funky music do the talking…

(Sorry)

…but now Cheryl's upped her game as she fights for this (new) love.

The X Factor judge answered questions en français during a radio interview yesterday evening.

When asked if she was planning on performing on the talent show this year, Cheryl answered: “Oui oui, je suis," which translated to: “yes, yes, I am.”

It seems as if her new marriage to French man, Jean-Bernard has influenced her in many ways and it’s nice to see that she wants to learn his native language – who knows she might appear on French X Factor very soon!

Things took a turn for the crippling awkward when Lea Michele was snubbed on the red carpet by veteran actress, Jessica Lange.

The Glee actress was attending the premiere of American Horror Story Freak Show and was working her stuff for the cameras when she spotted Jessica and tried to say hi.

Unfortunately, Jessica wasn’t feeling too friendly and breezed right passed her, leaving poor Lea to do that awkward thing you do when you wave to someone and they didn’t see you.

Or at least they pretend they didn’t see you…

Catch the totes awks momo at 1:02.

On another note how amazing is Lea's dress?! Damn, that girl can pull a pose!

Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried held nothing back from photographers recently when they were spotted kissing in New York.

But before you run off to comfort Amanda's boyfriend Justin Long, let's just mention the fact that the passionate lip-locking was purely for professional reasons!

It seems Amanda has replaced new mum Mila Kunis as Mark's love interest for Ted 2, which will be released next summer.

While we're sad to see Lori and John break up, we reckon Amanda will do a great job in the new role. The Mamma Mia actress admitted she was so keen to star in the film that she accepted the part from Seth MacFarlane before knowing anything about it.

"When they would talk about another Ted movie, I would always joke about how they were going to incorporate me into the movie," she confessed in an interview a couple of months before filming kicked off.

"I don't know what my character is like," the actress said  "I literally don't know… But I still said yes to Seth because I trust him. How could anybody say no to him? But yeah, I have no idea what I'm doing. It's so weird."

Well, judging by these snaps, her character is definitely doing a lot of kissing!

Poor Jennifer Garner! The actress had a bit of embarrassment earlier this week as she revealed a little TOO much at a red carpet event.

Jennifer was appearing at the premiere of her new film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, when she accidentally lifted her Valentino dress to show to a pair of less-than-flattering Spanx.

Glad to know we're not the only ones who need a bit of sucking in before putting on our LBD!

Turns out that Jen's Oscar de la Renta clutch was the culprit – the star got caught up in the excitement of seeing her co-star Steve Carrell, and when she moved her arm to hug him, her clutch pushed the front flap of her dress open. Oops.

The 13 Going On 30 actress handled things well though, laughing things off and heading off to do several photocalls. Good woman Jen!

Although she's no stranger to dressing up in fancy gowns, Jennifer says she feels more herself when she's comfy at home with husband Ben Affleck and their three kids.

"I can't imagine that anyone in the world would come to me for style advice!" she said in a recent interview. "If you want to talk about making the perfect pizza crust or how to handle a toddler who won't sleep or potty-train, then we can chat."

Colds, headcolds and flus are just the WORST.

From annoying sniffles and a niggle at the back of your throat to a fever and sweats; colds and flus can really bring us way down.

However, there are some things you can do to help avoid getting sick this autumn and boost that immunity to the max!

1. “I work out”
That’s right, exercise can help keep those pesky sniffles at bay – just another reason to get those runners on! Studies show that people who exercise on a regular basis get sick less often than those who do not.

2. “You can totally make friends with salad”
Don’t listen to them – fruit and veggies are one of your best bets against the common cold! Fresh produce will boost your immune system and keep sickness away. Garlic is also an amazing way to help boost your immune system against colds and flus because it is antiviral and anti-fungal – basically it’s magic. So eat it.

3. “Rub-a-dub-dub”
Keep some anti-viral gel in your bag or at your desk during cold and flu season. Sure, you may seem like a germ-phobe putting it on every time someone shakes your hand – but isn’t it better than the alternative?

4. “Zzzzz”
Make sure your sleep pattern is up to scratch as disturbances in our sleeping can really affect our health. Aim for 8-10 hours and you should be feeling fresh and perky.

5. “You’re not going out in that”
Now, we don’t want to sound like your parents but if you feel a cold coming on, going out with bare legs and wet hair isn’t going to help, is it?! Invest in a good winter coat and wrap up warm and cosy against the wind and rain.

If all else fails and you do come down with a cold…or even a cursed flu then grab that water bottle, a big blanket, a day off, lots of fluids and some Disney movies and you'll be right as rain as soon as you know it!

Actress Sarah Goldberg has died in her sleep aged just 40.

Sarah, who went by her stage name Sarah Danielle Madison, was best known for her role on Seventh Heaven as Matt Camden's girlfriend and eventual wife, Sarah Glass Camden.

The star died "peacefully in her sleep of natural causes" 11 days ago while visiting her family's cabin in Wisconsin. The news was confirmed by her family yesterday. Sarah's mother Judy stated that an autopsy did not confirm the cause of Sarah's death, but a "heart ailment is suspected."

Her mother added that Sarah simply "went to sleep and didn't wake up".

The actress appeared on the family drama regularly between 2002 and 2006, and also had roles in Judging Amy, House, CSI, 90210 and Jurassic Park 3.

Actor Barry Watson, who played Matt on Seventh Heaven, tweeted a sweet message to his former co-star:

This is the second shock this week for Seventh Heaven fans – it was revealed yesterday that Stephen Collins, who played Rev. Camden on the show, had reportedly confessed to child molestation. He has since been cut from his role in the upcoming blockbuster Ted 2, and Seventh Heaven re-runs have been pulled from many cable channels in the US.

Last night police rushed to his Los Angeles home after a caller in the neighbourhood reported hearing gunshots, but nothing untoward was discovered and the property was found empty.

When we do something exciting or out of our comfort zone, it's only natural we'd want to brag about it a little.

That's totally fine – as long as the thing we're doing isn't illegal.

A whistle-blower blogger caused a storm earlier this year when she posted a list of Tumblr sites specifically dedicated to shoplifting. Despite the controversy, the trend seems to have gotten worse than ever – though many of the "lifters" now claim they are just role-playing or pretending. "I post things I purchase with my own money and claim that they were stolen," one poster said on her page. "It’s nothing more than a fun hobby."

Not only do the users post cutely arranged pictures of their stolen goods, but they also offer specific tips and tricks for shoplifting in specific stores. It's all very Bling Ring!

One user, called Lift-witch, wrote a 1,700 word piece about how to steal most efficiently from Topshop, with tips like, "There will be at least one flight of stairs that is 100% unmonitored so you can slip small items like underwear and makeup even jewellery into an open bag here."

Wow.

Some of the shoplifters steal for their own personal use, while others steal to sell or swap items with others.

"Here’s my haul for today,” said one Tumbler user. “The total is about $2,613. Hopefully I can sell some and make some monaay.”

This is a very worrying trend – we hope there's a crackdown soon!
