Paul Walker

Paul Walker lost his life in a car crash almost four years ago.

His daughter Meadow Walker filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche over her father's death at the time, as Paul was a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT.

Now, the lawsuit has been settled, according to E! News.

At the time, the lawsuit reportedly stated that the vehicle 'lacked safety features…that could have prevented the accident or, at a minimum, allowed Paul Walker to survive the crash,' according to documents obtained by E!.

'If Porsche had designed the car to include proper safety features, Paul would have survived, he would be filming Fast and Furious 8, and Meadow Walker would have the father she adored,' Jeff Milam, Meadow’s attorney said in 2015.

The details of the settlement are confidential, but the entertainment site claims that both parties called for a dismissal of the suit.

About a month ago, Meadow shared a throwback image on Instagram, showing her and her Dad enjoying a childhood moment in homage to his birthday.

Porsche has filed a response to Meadow Walker's wrongful death lawsuit.

Two months ago Meadow alleged that the Porsche Carrera GT lacked safety features that could have prevented the accident. Now, the car company is defending themselves against several accusations.

In court documents obtained by E! News, Porsche alleges that Paul "knowingly and voluntarily assumed all risk, perils and danger in respect to the use of the subject 2005 Carrera GT."

The company goes on to state that the "risk and dangers were open and obvious and known to him and that he chose to conduct himself in a manner so as to expose himself to such perils, dangers and risks, thus assuming all the risks involved in using the vehicle."

The company also believes that Meadow is barred from receiving any compensation because Paul was both “a knowledgeable and sophisticated user of the car."

In September, Meadow and her lawyers filed a lawsuit alleging that Porsche knew that the specific car in Paul's case "had a history of instability and control issues."

In respond to the company’s latest statement on the issue, Meadow’s attorney is continuing to argue that her father was not at fault in the tragic accident.

“It is beyond regrettable that Porsche is trying to deflect its own responsibility by blaming the victim—Paul Walker—for his own death by getting into the passenger seat of its Carrera G.T."

The statement continued: "Contrary to Porsche's assertions, the facts are clear: Paul was the passenger in a car that was not designed to protect its occupants in a crash on a dry, empty straightaway in broad daylight and at speeds well below the vehicle's advertised capabilities."

Jeff Milam, Meadow’s attorney concluded by saying: "If Porsche had designed the car to include proper safety features, Paul would have survived, he would be filming Fast and Furious 8, and Meadow Walker would have the father she adored."

Paul Walker passed away in November 2013 when the car he was a passenger in hit a tree before bursting into flames.

Just recently his teenage daughter Meadow filed a wrongful death lawsuits against Porsche. It claimed her father’s death was due a design flaw in the car he was in.

Lawyers for the 16-year old claim that the actor had survived the crash but suffered horrifically when he was trapped into the 2005 Carrera GT when it burst into flames.

Porsche have since released a statement which said:

"As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed."

Meadow’s lawyers have also claimed that car would not have lost control had it had a better stabilization system.

"The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street. And we shouldn't be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas," TMZ reports a member of Meadow’s legal team as saying.

Law enforcement at the time said that the car was going between 129 km/h and 150 km/h at the time of the accident. However, according to the lawsuit, Roger Rodas, the driver of the car, was going from 100 to 114 km/h.

Paul Walker's daughter is suing car giant Porsche for death two years ago.

The actor was tragically killed when the Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas swerved out of control, crashed into three trees and burst into flames.

Now Paul's daughter and sole heir, 16-year-old Meadow Walker, has authorised a case against Porsche which alleges his death could have been prevented if the car had better safety features.

A copy of the 18-page lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, claims that when the car crashed and broke apart, Paul was still alive, albeit with drastic injuries to his torso and back.

The car did not erupt into flames for over a minute but Paul remained trapped in the car with shattered ribs and pelvis.

Meadow's lawyers say the car would not have swerved out of control if the Carrera GT had been fitted with a prober stabilisation system, and add that Porsche knew the car model had "a history of instability and control issues."

An investigation shortly after the crash concluded that the collision was caused by speeding. However while law enforcement officials claim Roger Rodas was driving at 151 km p/h, Meadow's lawyers say he was only driving at between 101 and 114 km p/h.

Many other Porsche models come fitted with a stability management system as standard, but the Carrera GT does not. The case adds that the car had deficient side door reinforcements.

"The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street.  And we shouldn't be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas," Meadow's lawyer Jeff Milam tells TMZ.

In early 2013, Meadow made a permanent move to LA from Hawaii to live with her father.

Just weeks before his death, Paul spoke about the growing bond between himself and his daughter.

"I'm glad I had her at 25, because at 40 and 15, we're matching up sweet," he said. "It's just working… It's perfect."

Some happy news from Hollywood this morning as its been confirmed that Dwayne Johnson is set to become a dad again.

The actor and former professional wrestler is expecting a child with his long-time girlfriend Lauren Hashian.

This will be the first child for the pair, though Dwayne already has a 14-year-old daughter, Simone, with ex-wife Dany Garcia.

A source says Dwayne and Lauren are already "so excited" about the prospect of becoming parents. The couple have been together for nine years, getting together shortly after Dwayne's marriage breakdown in 2007.

And almost a decade on, Dwayne is still clearly smitten with Lauren, lavishing her and Simone with praise in a recent interview with Esquire.

"We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn't mentioned and my daughter isn't mentioned," he noted.

"You gotta get the better half in there… With all the cool s**t and success that I've been lucky enough to get? That doesn't happen unless the home life is solid."

It might take time to get to grips with parenting a newborn again, but Dwayne is already every bit the doting dad to his teenage daughter. Just last week he shared some sweet insights on Instagram, in a response to a post from Meadow Walker, the daughter of late actor Paul Walker.

"I want you to know that every time me and your dad were together over the years, we'd ALWAYS talk about you and my daughter Simone," he wrote to Meadow.

"We'd have a laugh at the fact we were both hard working boys and still trying to 'figure it all out'… but we'd also laugh and smile bigger at the fact that us being 'fathers' is by far the greatest blessing in the world."

Paul Walker’s girlfriend, Jasmine Pilchard Gosnell has been revealed to be attending grief counselling following her boyfriend’s tragic death in 2013.

Jasmine’s father, Casey revealed he had to put the 23-year-old in counselling, as she was unable to imagine a life without the actor, who died in a car crash five months ago.

“I have her in grief counselling. You have to understand that she is still terribly wounded by Paul’s death and will be for a long time.”

Jasmine has never spoken publically of Paul’s death but recently posted a worrying cryptic status on Facebook.

“I walk the streets of one.”

Jasmine met Paul when she was 16 but the 17 year gap was never a problem in their relationship. She was even a step-mom to Paul’s daughter, Meadow.

Casey said that Jasmine wasn’t ready to speak openly about Paul’s death or her relationship with him but after counselling, it could be a possibility.

“Maybe one day she’ll be ready to talk about Paul but she’s not there yet. She’s trying to deal with her loss – it’s been very hard for her. But she has her family and we’re trying to help and support her as much as we can.”
