New research from scientists at McGill University in Quebec, Canada shows that a large number of childless women tend to have been born to older mothers.

The data analysed came from 43,000 women.

Strangely enough, the Human Reproduction-published study found fathers' ages had no significant effect on whether or not their daughters had children.

One important point to note, though, is the fact that scientists cannot prove if this correlation is due to whether these women struggled to conceive or if they consciously chose not to start a family.

"We had no knowledge of whether childlessness was intentional," the researchers noted, though they said that this link between childlessness and being born to an older mother was 'consistent'.

However, the authors of the study still noted that 'evaluating the influence of maternal age at birth on offspring fertility is a public health priority'.

Peter Nagy, from the Reproductive Biology Associates in Atlanta, told the Guardian that age is something women planning to conceive should keep in mind, saying: "A mother’s reproductive age is important not only for herself but it will determine to a certain extent the chances of her daughter or daughters being infertile.

"When we are treating patients close to the age of 40, we are helping them get babies but, at the same time, these children will have a higher risk of becoming infertility patients."

The idea that a woman's fertility is related to her mother's health is not new.

Past studies have suggested that a woman's fertility can be predicted by the age at which her mother went through menopause.

A 2012 study published in Human Reproduction found that levels of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and antral follicle count (AFC), both positive predictors for ovarian reserves, dropped faster in women whose mums experienced menopause earlier.

This means that women whose mothers had menopause at an earlier age may struggle to conceive.

Prepare to be terrified and confused in equal parts because the first trailer for Jennifer Lawrence's new horror film Mother! has landed – and it's creep AF.

The cryptic trailer has left fans with a lot of questions, however it did reveal that Jennifer's character appears obsessed with a brick wall (which at one point is dripping with blood), after allowing a strange man sleep in the house she shares with her partner, played by Javier Bardem.

The short clip also suggests that Javier Bardem's character may know more about the visitors than we originally thought, saying “all I'm trying to do is bring life into this house. Open the door to new people, new ideas.”

Also starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Kristen Wiig and Ed Harris, this star-studded horror flick looks set to be a box office smash.

Darren Aronofsky's Mother! is set to hit Irish cinemas on September 15.

Even if you're a major superstar, that doesn't stop your mam from sending you a cringey text.

Kendrick Lamar is killing it at the moment, after having just released the fastest selling album of 2017 so far.

However, last night the rapper shared a tweet he received from his mother – and it's really just like any text our mammies would send us.

His mam definitely went overboard with the emojis, something we're sure most can relate to.

And Kendrick noted on it, replying to his mam, "You going emoji brazy."

Ah, we just love when we can relate to superstars…

Oh, and while we have you; don't forget to have your say in the inaugural SHEmazing Awards this May! It's time to vote, and you can do it right here!

A 17-year-old girl from California shared a picture on Twitter last week of her dad staying by her mam's side while she undergoes treatment for cancer.

Her mam had to be isolated, and from it came one of most heart-warming and sweetest things you'll ever see.

The teen, McKenna, spoke to Buzzfeed and told them that her mam was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last October, and during her treatment last week, she was isolated in her room.

And her dad stayed as close to her mam as he possibly could.

McKenna's picture, which shows her dad sitting outside her mam's bedroom door, has gained nearly 3,000 likes since she posted it, and the Internet is exploding over the love her dad has for his wife.

McKenna told Buzzfeed: "The amount of love I've received is crazy and I didn't expect any of it, but I'm so grateful."

Her mam added: "Jon goes to every doctor's appointment, every blood test, every surgery, every radiation. And, as you can see, if he can't be by my side he is as close as he can get!"

"Dear Moms, dads, caretakers. I'm slow clapping for each and every one of you. It ain't no joke."

Tika only revealed to her fans that she was pregnant back in August.

We wish her all the best!

Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson is reportedly taking his mother to court to have her evicted from his house.

The dancer – who rose to fame on the popular talent show in 2008 when he was only 14 years old – used some of his £100,000 prize money to buy his first home.

He then purchased a second property four years later, which his mother Lesley moved into.

According to The Sun, sources close to the performer – who is now 23 – have claimed that George asked his mother to vacate the house earlier this year, but because she still hasn’t done so he is now involved in a High Court legal battle to have her evicted.

They said: “The first house George bought is in Lesley’s name – as he was underage when he bought it – and she collects the rent from that.”

“She has also been living in the second property.  But George has now decided he wants it back, and he asked her politely to leave this year.”

“Unfortunately, she doesn’t want to and they are now due in court to fight it out.”

The source told The Sun that the actor “never wanted to involve lawyers or make this business any messier than it needs to be” but claimed he has been forced to do so as “he wants…the house that is rightfully his”.

“He has a life in London now, and he also needs to support himself,” they said.

Back in May, George told the Loose Women panel that money issues had caused tension between he and his mother, but that he hoped their relationship would improve again with time.

A mother-of-one left pub-goers gobsmacked when she showed off her impressive weight-lifting skills in Temple Bar.

Amy O'Halloran, from the UK, was celebrating her birthday over the weekend when she was challenged by her friends to lift a man they were chatting to in a pub.

Now, her friends know that Amy is an amateur powerlifter and a former cyclo-cross cyclist, so when the crowd outside the pub saw her impressive skills, they were shocked.

The British woman lifted the man 14 times above her head, which was captured in an Instagram clip.

She captioned the video, "This happened!… So funny, accrued a little audience and everything (sic)."

Powerlifting in a dress? Now, that's impressive.

Tom Hanks' mother, Janet Marylyn Frager, has passed away.

The actor took to Instagram last night to share the sad message about his 84-year-old mother and also paid her a loving tribute.

Sharing an old picture of Janet, he captioned it: "This beauty? My mom. She was the difference in many lives. Many lives. We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossing, mom! Hanx."

After the picture was posted, his fans flooded to his social media accounts to offer words of condolences: "Sorry for your loss and so close to your birthday, Tom. Condolences."

Another one said: "And we can thank her for all the lives made better by your peerless humanity. Millions and millions. She raised a fabulous son."

Our thoughts are with Tom and his family.

We all have that one dude on Facebook who always posts gifs and memes about women being in the kitchen or how his perfect type of gal is a Victoria's Secret model (because we clearly all look like them).

Most of the time we scroll past the ridiculous views, but one Facebook user couldn't help but notice a mother losing her sh*t at her son when he shared THIS online:

The Twitter user @ghoulia, shared the mothering masterpiece and we can't help but laugh, especially when she calls her son a 'DOUCHE CANOE."

She’s only 18 – but actress Ariel Winter has had to do a lot of growing up in the spotlight.

And as if that wasn’t challenging enough, she’s also STILL not on speaking terms with her mother.

"It has been very sad for me, but at the same time it's been much better for me emotionally and physically to be on my own and have a better, safer household and support system," Ms Winter explained on yesterday’s Elle DeGeneres Show.

The Modern Family star lived with her 37-year-old sister Shanelle Gray until from the age of 14 – only recently moving out when she turned 18 earlier this year.

And speaking about her elder sibling, Ariel also gushed: "She's been the best part of my life. She really is my best friend. She's the most important thing to me."

She added: "She's been there for me through absolutely everything. And I just love her so much. I count on her more than anything."

The women’s mother, Chrisoula Workman, has been accused of emotionally and physically abusing her daughters – something that Ms Workman denies.

Indeed, their brother Jimmy Workman (also an actor – he played Pugsley in The Adams Family movies) has publicly defended their mother.

Sam Faiers has hit back on social media after viewers of her show The Baby Diaries commented on that awkward kiss between Sam's boyf and his mum.

The former reality star was bombarded on Twitter after the show aired, with users calling her man, Paul Knightly, a "man child" and "controlling."

But Sam hit back as quick as ever with a black and white photo of herself kissing her newborn son, Paul Jnr.

She captioned the photo: "I will kiss my baby boy on the lips forever. Thank you for everyone's support and kind comments on our show."

"Media & people will always try find negative. I'm happy & so totally in love with my family #myworld #positive x," she added.

We just think it's a totally weird deal for Sam, but hey, she loves him.
