We all love the odd fast food meal from time to time. Between McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Subway and more, there's so many to choose from.

That's probably the reason why fast food companies aim high when trying to promote their new burger, wrap or chicken box.

With striking backgrounds, bright colours schemes and succulent meat, the images are designed to strike anybody passing by.

Now, we know the actual meal might not always look as good as it's picture, but comparisons are something else:

McDonald’s have recently seen a huge surge in the sales if their famous Egg McMuffins, and it’s all down to just one minor change of ingredients.

The fast food giant has stopped using margarine and instead, is spreading old fashioned real butter on its muffins.

And this little trick is working a treat for McDonalds and its customers alike, with a 0.9 per cent growth in sales across the US.

The fast food restaurant has also started toasting its buns longer (to get that little extra crunch!) and amending the way they grill their burgers too.

According to Forbes, chief brand officer Steve Easterbrook said: “People have more choices than ever about where to dine.”

“We want to give them more reasons to dine at McDonald’s by recommitting to hot fresh food, fast friendly service and a contemporary restaurant experience.”

Move over Twisty Fries… there's a new addition to the McDonald's menu and we already know it's going to be a favourite.

The fast food giant has confirmed it is testing sweet potato fries in a number of its outlets, with the hope of making them a mainstream menu option.

Just look at them there, all golden and crunchy:

Currently the new fries are only on offer in certain McDonald's Create Your Taste restaurants in Texas, but given the widespread appeal of sweet potato chips, we can't see why they wouldn't roll them out across the globe soon enough.

A couple of months back the chain revealed a new 'gourmet breakfast' menu in Australian branches, offering sourdough bread, wilted spinach and smashed avocado alongside your bog-standard Egg McMuffin.

Other gourmet brekkie options included avocado toast with feta cheese and waffles with berries and cream.

The chain has been trying to introduce a more health-conscious ethos for years now, and if sweet potato fries are the next step in that project, well… go for it, we say.

First Katy Perry was joined by a drunk superfan on stage, and now Sam Smith's been spotted looking worse for wear… Rock in Rio seems to be party central this year.

The English singer was filmed stumbling out of his hotel in the early hours, on the hunt for the 24-hour McDonald's he'd been promised was nearby.

Unfortunately for poor Sam, Rio's 'all-night' MaccyD's actually closes at 5am, meaning he was an hour too late for his McNuggets.

Sam's disappointed drunk face when he learns the sad truth is definitely one we can identify with… is there ANYTHING worse than wanting fast food when everything is closed?

The singer was looking for late night munchies after a wild night with model Cara Delevingne and Rihanna in the Brazilian city.

Time for bed?

With the help of celeb nutritionist Amelia Freer, Sam has slimmed down hugely in the past six months. But in a recent interview he admitted he still loves a good takeaway.

"It's a struggle every day and there are McDonald's everywhere. Every time I see one I want to munch down on a McMuffin," he complained.

No Eurosaver cheese burger for us, no siree – McDonald's is about to get seriously fancy, all with an Irish twist too.

Yes, the fast food chain is releasing its limited edition McMór, and it's arriving THIS Wednesday.

Branded as an "Irish artisan burger," it includes Ballymaloe relish and Charleville cheddar cheese and will be available in all 88 McDonald’s restaurants across the country for a limited, six week period.

As well as the relish and cheese, there is also the McMór's potato-flaked bun to look forward to, as well as 100 percent Irish beef and bacon, shredded cabbage, and whole baby leaf kale.

It's been in development for more than a year too and today McDonald's said in a statement: "We’re delighted to launch the McMór – and to be collaborating with great Irish producers to create our first ever Irish artisan burger."

Other limited edition items to hit restaurants around the world include the McLobster, available seasonally in parts of the US and Canada; the McHotDog; the McLean Deluxe, a reduced fat offering, and the chain's black burger – a squid-ink infused, Halloween-themed delight occasionally on offer in Japan.

Ok this NEEDS to happen! Burger King have written an open letter and released a video asking McDonalds to collaborate them to create the ultimate burger, the McWhopper.

This burger would be a combination of the Big Mac and the Whopper burger, taking some ingredients from both to create the ultimate super burger.

In an open letter to the home of the McFlurry, Burger King wrote: "We come in peace. In fact, we come in honour of peace. We know we've had our petty differences, but how about we call a cease fire on these so-called 'burger wars'?"

The idea for the McWhopper is to celebrate Peace One Day on September 21 which is an annual day of global unity.

The non-profit organisation have a powerful rallying call – "Who will you make peace with?".

In spirit of this day, Burger Kind said: "We'd like to propose a one-off collaboration between Burger King and McDonalds to create something special – something that gets the world talking about Peace day."

To celebrate this day of peace, they are suggesting the two burger giants open a pop up store in Atlanta and sell the McWhopper in a store which will be co-branded.

We can't wait to see what McDonalds have to say in return!

The Internet has gone into meltdown since the discovery of this McDonalds employee and people have began seriously crushing on her.

Weiwei is a McDonald's worker from Taiwan who people have described as basically looking like a living doll.

One blog, RainDog, first noticed her and shared photographs of her online that quickly turned Weiwei into a viral sensation, which sounds a bit creepy.

She is now getting her first taste of Internet fame as she enthusiastically performs the McDonald's Good Morning Song in a YouTube video.

After these photos began to spread, men started to flock to the restaurant in which Weiwei works and the place has been flooded with people hoping to get a glimpse of her.

Although you may find all of this a bit creepy, it seems it's working out for the best for Weiwei as she has recieved extra work because of it. She has been given a spot on game shows and now works as a model on the side too.

We all have our ultimate, so-wrong-it's-right, pure indulgence food: no, it's not pretty and no, you're not proud of it… but needs must.

For example, a chicken burger mashed into a baguette, topped with chips, sealed with mayo and finished off in the George Foreman sounds horrific – but then, who are we to judge?

Still when SHEmazing! spotted a new fast-food-cum-pizza trend online, we felt a line had been crossed. In fact, even we were oh-so horrified by the concept.

The meal involves a pizza base, tomato sauce, mountains of shredded mozzarella – and your favourite items from the menu at McDonalds.

Here, we take you through it all… prepare to be disgusted (or possibly very intrigued):

Get your ingredients together: McDonalds fries, chicken McNuggets, and a couple of cheese burgers, as well as plenty of grated cheese, a pizza base and tomato sauce:

Top the base with sauce to taste, and then setlle your fast-food items on top:

Continue piling high until all the McDonalds menu of your choosing is arranged on the base:

Next, you'll need to smoother the whole thing in LOTS of cheese:

Then pop in a pre-heated oven for around 25 minutes – 190C should do it:

Remove and eat immediately – pretending to be horrified but all the while feeling strangely satisfied:

In case you missed it this week, McDonalds made the announcement that they want to introduce table service to their restaurants.

Not only that, but they are obviously making some serious efforts for their name to be associated with more elegant dining.

Their new ‘gourmet’ breakfast menu has been unveiled for the world to see, and they have included some unexpected items. Sourdough bread and wilted spinach? From McDonalds? Madness.

The menu is currently being tested outside of Brisbane in Austrailia, according to Burger Business.

A ‘Café Breakfast’ inspired string of products include; bacon, chipolata sausage (small pork sausages, FYI), scrambled eggs, grilled tomato, wilted spinach and our favourites Belgian waffles.

There’s also a bacon and egg roll, not just any kind though this is gourmet dining after all. This one comes on a toasted brioche roll with bacon, eggs, spinach and a tomato relish. Yum.

They’re also offering an avocado smash platter that has smashed avocado, spinach, sliced tomato and crumbled feta cheese.

There is rumours of a chorizo and egg brioche roll to be available on the menu. No more double cheeseburgers for the breakfast of champions then?

The upscale food offerings are sure to make the breakfast McMuffins look a little lacking, but it is hard to imagine that fancy spinach and avocados will soon be available via drive-thru but some people are still crying out for an all-day breakfast menu.

Ah finally, we can indulge in a Mc-themed treat in peace without attracting the curious stares of other customers when we order the infamous 20 pack of chicken nuggets.

Sometimes you just want all the food, it happens. However, if anyone ever felt their fast food experience was becoming a little too casual, then McDonalds have some good news for you.

The fast food giant has announced that it is going to be introducing table service in the UK. In attempts to beat their rival burger joints, McDonalds have already introduced the service Down Under.

So, if it’s managed to make the leap to our hemisphere at last, you know it’s only a matter of time before your happy meal will be brought direct to your table.

A spokesperson for McDonalds has said: We are significantly investing in our restaurants to create an exciting new environment and improve the customer experience.”

These new and improved experiences are an obvious gateway to never having to stand in a line waiting for a McFlurry ever again.

“We are testing some new concepts, such as table service, whereby customers place their order via our new digital kiosks and then have their food brought to them.”

However, if like some of us, you like to grab the paper bag and retreat back to your couch and Netflix with your cheeseburgers, you can still order at the till as usual.

We wonder though, how long before they introduce a delivery service? Truly a monumental moment for fast food lovers everywhere.

We're wishing we lived in Japan right now, because for one day only, Japanese McDonald's customers are getting a pretty cool treat.

On July 27th, a branch of Macca's in the Roppongi Hills area of Japan will transform into 'Restaurant M' for the day, plating up haute cuisine style meals made from McDonald's food.

A sneak peek at the menu has been revealed, and it includes deconstructed slider burgers served with skewers, vichyssoise with French fries (really?) and fancied-up McDonald's blueberry-Oreo sundaes for dessert.

The best bit? Meals will be served by waiting staff, with proper knives, forks and dinnerware.

Sadly only ten groups of twenty can make bookings for the once-off event, so aside from the fact that we're not in Japan, it looks like chances of us getting a seat at Restaurant M are slim. But who knows, maybe an Irish version could be on the way?

We can all relate to the painstaking process of trying to find a part-time job. However, we DEFINITELY don’t all come out with the same results as this guy!

Christopher Kellie was 16-years-old when his mum drove him to their local McDonald's to drop in his CV. Instead, he left with the beginnings of a prosperous modelling career.

The 21-year-old Glaswegian explained to the Daily Record how applying for a job in the fast-food chain led to his new life.

“I had just turned 16 and my mum told me it was time to get a part-time job. She drove me to McDonald’s in Rutherglen and I handed in my CV.

“I had just got back in her car when this crazy woman threw herself in front of it and started shouting at her to stop. I rolled down the window and she asked if I would like to be a model.”

It turned out that the “crazy woman” was none other than the co-owner of the modelling agency, Colours Agency, Alison Bruce.

Christopher admitted that it took him a while to warm to the idea of calling Ms Bruce for an appointment as he thought he’d “get a slagging” from his friends but they actually loved the idea.

Mr Kellie has since become one of the nation’s top male models, having worked for brands such as House of Fraser and Barbour.

And it is certainly a good thing that the modelling worked out well for him because, as Christopher said, he “never heard back from McDonald’s.”
