If you are one of many Luas users who suspect you have been overcharged on your fare, it may come down to something known as 'clock drift'.

According to a number of reports this morning, clock inaccuracies on a number of validator machines have seen passengers charged peak-time fares despite not travelling during peak-time.

A disparity of two and a half minutes has resulted in widespread fare inaccuracies – an issue which is being rectified by Transdev.

"It is possible that PC clock drift can occur due to hardware or software faults or device restarts," the operator confirmed. "This issue has been checked by our technicians and a fix will be implemented shortly."

"The fare you pay is determined by tag-on time rather than tag-off time. If a device time was incorrectly set you could pay peak rate (€2.50 max) rather than off-peak rate (€2.45 max) during the period the device was away from real time."

"The inverse is also true, the device would charge off-peak rates at the other end of the time window," they added.

The validators are set by AFCS and CSS.

Congratulations are in order, people!

Heidi Range of Sugababes fames and her husband, Alex Partakis, have welcomed their first child!

The two have been married since their gorgeous Tuscan wedding in 2016, and now they're loving their first foray into parenthood.

"We’re absolutely delighted to introduce you to our beautiful baby girl," the 34-year-old captioned the photo of her little girl on Instagram.

"Aurelia Honey Partakis was born on 21/01/18. 6lb 2oz of pure joy! Daddy and I are floating on Cloud 9 and falling more in love with her by the minute. Welcome to the world my sweetheart," Heidi gushed.

In July of last year, Heidi shared the news of her pregnancy with fans and followers.

The singer initially had trouble conceiving, telling Hello! magazine, "Our wedding was amazing, and then I hoped I would fall pregnant straight away. But as each month went by, I would take a test and I got used to it always being negative."

When she actually became pregnant, Heidi admitted she could hardly believe it.

"So when it came back positive, it was a shock," she said, "Alex was asleep, and I came running into the bedroom with the stick, saying, ‘Is that a cross? Am I pregnant?'"

If you were convinced your wheelie bin was about to make a detour across town via your bedroom window last night, you weren't alone.

As Storm Georgina raged around the country in the early hours, most of us hoped against hope the weather would pick up by today, but, apparently, it's not meant to be.

According to the good folk at Met Éireann, we're in for a combination of wind, rain, hail and thunder in the aftermath of Storm Georgina.

"Windy today with strong and very gusty southwest winds" ,reads their official website. "Sunny spells and scattered heavy showers some of hail especially in southwestern, western and northwestern counties with isolated thunderstorms."

And the forecast for tonight isn't any better.

"There'll be further heavy rain or hail showers tonight, with a continuing risk of isolated thunderstorms, the showers merging at times to give longer spells of rain overnight."

"Still blustery and windy with strong and gusty south to southwest winds especially in coastal counties of the south and west. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees Celsius with frost in places sheltered from the wind."

Wake us up when this blows over.

In a letter to the Taoiseach yesterday evening, the Abortion Rights Campaign made clear that repeal simpliciter is the only option that should be put to the people in a referendum.

Commenting on the letter, spokesperson Linda Kavanagh said “In September the March for Choice, organised by the Abortion Rights Campaign, saw over 40,000 people take to the streets of Dublin calling for the full repeal of the 8th Amendment and free, safe, and legal abortion access."

"The Abortion Rights Campaign has active regional groups in almost every county. This referendum campaign will be won on the ground by our members and volunteers. We cannot ask them to support a referendum that would insert an ill-advised clause with potentially far reaching implications into the Constitution.”

Spokesperson for the campaign Clare Lanigan added: “As both legal and medical experts to the Joint Oireachtas Committee made clear, the Constitution has never been the right place to deal with abortion care provision.”

“Successive governments have had 35 years to address the 8th Amendment. We are alarmed to see a replace option now being hastily proposed. The opportunity to finally address the issue of the 8th Amendment effectively is too important to be affected by last minute scrambles.”

“Full repeal is the only option we’re going to support. We’ve strongly urged the Taoiseach to put this option in front of the people.”

Ms Kavanagh and Ms Lanigan were speaking in advance of a free public information evening on the Eighth Amendment and Healthcare, hosted by ARC tonight at 7pm in the Ashling Hotel in Dublin and featuring guest speakers from the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, Midwives for Choice, AIMS Ireland and others.

A rape survivor has highlighted the lack of treatment and support units available for victims of sexual assault in a letter addressed to Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar.

Dominique Meehan wrote to the Fine Gael leader after she was forced to travel from Dublin to Mullingar because the capital's Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU) was not available at the time.

The 25-year-old was attending a comic book convention at the Blanchardstown Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin hotel when she was raped by Keith Hearne.

According to The Irish Independent, last summer, the Central Criminal Court heard that Hearne had purchased a “rape kit” consisting of a prop knife, handcuffs, a mask and condoms prior to the attack.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, one count of oral rape and one count of false imprisonment and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

In a effort to improve services for other victims of sexual assault, Dominique wrote a powerful letter calling on the Taoiseach to establish more SATUs around the country.

“Since Hearne’s conviction I have found out a lot about our criminal justice system, Sexual Assault Treatment Units, and about the availability of services for rape survivors like the Rape Crisis Network Ireland,” she writes.

"It has become acceptable in Ireland that a survivor has to travel a maximum of two-and-a-half hours to reach a SATU. Imagine that you have been attacked in Westport and need to travel all the way to Sligo hospital to reach their SATU, sometimes not even in an ambulance," she wrote.

"You must sit in the dirty clothes that you have been attacked in, unable to drink, sore in areas you have no right to be sore in. I myself, having been attacked in Dublin, was sent to Mullingar as there were no SATUs available in Dublin, and wasn't allowed to drink for six hours even though I had been orally raped.

"No SATUs in Dublin? A county with more than a million people to serve. One in four women and one in 33 men are sexually assaulted in their lifetime and there is only one SATU in the Rotunda. It's utterly astounding that this has gone on for so long."

Dominique says she hopes to eventually go on to work with rape survivors.
