Remember when your mam would coat your fingernails in foul-tasting polish to stop you from nibbling on your nails?

Well, it looks like years of enduring that manky taste has finally paid off because these days you can actually get your hands on a nail polish that tastes like our favourite tipple – prosecco.

Brought to us by Groupon, the company revealed what's to be expected of the polish.

"Made with real prosecco, this lightly sparkling varnish, which comes in the shade Gold Glimmer, tastes and smells just like the real thing," they explained beneath a YouTube video promoting the product.

While licking our fingers and sucking on our nails is not something we generally tend to do (even in private), we'd be willing to give it a quick go just to see if the 'real prosecco' claims hold up.

Purely for research purposes, you understand.

After travelling to India to bring home the body of her friend Danielle McLaughlin, Donegal-native Nicole Farren delivered a speech at a memorial service in Goa in which she paid tribute to the 28-year-old and lamented the devastating way she spent her final hours.

Speaking to those gathered, Nicole said: "We can not even begin to comprehend what has happened to our amazing beautiful friend Danielle."

"It is horrific and such a tragic way to have departed this world. No one deserves the pain and suffering she endured."

"How anyone is capable of committing a brutal act such as this to another human being is beyond our understanding," she said of the discovery of her friend's body in a remote area of Canacona in Goa last Tuesday morning.

"We want justice for Danielle. She deserves justice. We know that we all want the same. Whatever community we come from. Whatever our backgrounds. We all want the same thing. Justice. So let's get it together."

Nicole went on to highlight an issue which is never far from the headlines, saying: ""If anything, we hope that this will not only make India but also the rest of the world stand up and face the facts, that there is still so much injustice for women, that in some places we are second class citizens."

"Things need to change, Women need equal rights all over the world. They should be safe always and never be scared, have to live and die in fear.

23-year-old Vikat Bhagat was arrested over the murder, with police claiming he has confessed to the attack.

When Isabella Villegas heard that her 13-year-old sister had felt compelled to change her shirt after teachers made remarks over her choice of clothing, the 18-year-old made a T-shirt for her sibling to wear if she ever finds herself in that situation again.

And Twitter is now begging the Isabella to print more so they too can get their hands on one.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, 13-year-old Grace Villegas explained that after choosing to wear an off-the-shoulder blouse to school, she felt pressure from teachers to swap her new top for an alternative one.

"Instantly, I was like, 'Okay, I'm going to get dress-coded,' and I felt the need to change," Grace explained.

Furious that her younger sister was subject to judgement, Isabella made Grace a T-shirt to keep in her locker if she ever feels pressure to conform again.

And the message emblazoned across the plain white shirt has struck a serious chord with Twitter users in recent days.

"Dress Code: Promotes the objectification and sexualization of young bodies, blames the wearer for the onlooker's perceptions/actions, perpetuates rape culture, is B.S." it reads.

After the post racked up thousands of likes, queries into the availability of the shirt began pouring in, with one Twitter user writing: "Are you selling these on etsy yet??"

"If you started printing shirts with this on it, I'd for real buy one," added another.

Due to popular demand, Isabella decided to go ahead and make more shirts, telling the Twitosphere; "We are gonna start printing shirts!! anyone who wants one DM me so i can get an idea of how many to order!"

And that's how it's done.

The first day back in the office after St. Patrick's Day is always a tough one, but with the help of Emma Watson and her kittens we thought we'd get through it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's meant to be after we recently learned that we're in for one hell of a week weather-wise.

According to Met Éireann, the Irish nation should brace themselves for freezing temperatures, widespread showers, sleet and… wait for it… snow.

That's right ladies, we might be only days away from April, but that doesn't mean we've escaped the worst of the weather.

The Met Éireann website breaks it down, saying: "It will turn cold quickly after dark with frost setting in early tonight. There will be fairly widespread showers too, with some falling as sleet and snow even at low levels."

"They will be heaviest and most frequent in the western half of the country, where a few centimetres are likely, especially so on high ground. Lowest temperatures between +1 and -1 C., with icy patches also."

Oh, joy!

While accepting the National Equality award at this year's Human Rights Campaign gala, Katy Perry revealed that a staunch anti-gay rhetoric had informed most of her childhood and adolescence.

Born into a conservative and religious family, Katy was taught from a young age that the LGBT community was something to fear.

"When I was growing up, homosexuality was synonymous with the word 'abomination' and 'hell'," she explained. "So most of my unconscious adolescence, I prayed the gay away at my Jesus camps."

During the impassioned speech supporting the gay community, the singer revealed that with the support of friends she began to understand her own sexuality, and ultimately realised her perception of the LGBT community had been utterly skewed.

"There is no other community that has done more to shape who I am today, and there is no other community that I believe in more than you," she said.

Delving further still, the 32-year-old singer explained that her own experiences contradicted the teachings of her church and family.

Referring to her debut single, I Kissed a Girl, Katy added: "Truth be told, I did more than that. But how I was I going to reconcile that with a gospel-singing girl raised in youth groups that were pro-conversion camps?"

Katy finished her well-received speech with a promise, saying: "I'll never cease to be a champion, an ally, a spotlight, and a loving voice for all LGBTQ-identifying people."

Earlier this month, Suzanne Jackson appeared on The Six O'Clock Show, which ended up being described as her "worst television interview ever."

The beauty blogger appeared on the show, which aired a segment on lambing season just before her interview.

When Suzanne left TV3, she took to Snapchat to vent her frustration, saying: "Guys, that was the worst television interview I've ever done.

A post shared by Suzanne Jackson (@sosueme_ie) on

"Five minutes before I went on TV they started talking about this lamb that was going to be slaughtered and I honestly just couldn't do my interview properly."

However, now the TV station has hit back, saying she "never made [her frustration] known" before leaving the studio.

Sources at the Irish station reportedly told the Mail on Sunday: "Is Suzanne the only person in the country who is unaware that a segment on lambing season would involve talking about what happens to the lambs?

A post shared by Suzanne Jackson (@sosueme_ie) on

"The lamb in question is alive and was sent back to the farm after the show. However, Suzanne never made it known that she was in any way affected or 'upset'.

"So we were very surprised, to say the least, that she walked out to the car park to her Mercedes and sat on her leather seats and snapchatted about how ‘upset’ she was at what happens to the lamb.

"Is she that unaware of what happens during lambing season," the source added.
