Vogue Williams has apologised for her comments about internment for extremists.

The 31-year-old faced massive backlash for her column in The Sunday World where she said "we can no longer sit around and do nothing," before suggesting that she agrees with internment for "known terrorists."

The reaction to her piece was overwhelmingly negative, and in this week's column, Vogue apologised for her stance on the situation.

She said at the time of writing the first column, she was "upset and shocked," and felt "frightened and angry."

She then added, "But after reflecting more deeply, I understand that suggesting internment camps – ie imprisonment without trial – was a misguided opinion.

"Everyone has the right to a fair trial and to be heard and I of course do not believe in a dictatorship type of government."

However, while she admitted that she made a "mistake," and she is "sorry for that," she still condemns the reaction to received online.

She said after the article was published, she got "death threats, hate [and] pure vilification," which "doesn't promote debate."

She signed off her column by saying we should not be afraid to debate or discuss the situation the world is in.

Jeff Goldblum has been a stand out actor for many, many years now.

With movie hits such as Jurassic Park, The Fly and Independence Day, it's safe to say he's starred in many blockbusters, and now is your chance to watch them all in the same place.

The Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield is holding a Jeff Goldblum day next week to honour his many roles, and it seems like quite an evening.

Its website reads: "What better day to celebrate the magnificence of Jeff Goldblum than the 16th of June, Bloomsday, known forevermore in Light House Cinema as Jeff Goldblum's Day (pronounced Bloom or Blum, it rhymes).

"We've selected three of his most iconic characters and performances to celebrate and give thanks for his wonderful existence.

On Friday June 16, the cinema will open its doors to Jeff's fans so they can enjoy watching his flicks on the big screen.

Just because we can't own a platypus or a sloth does not mean we cannot enjoy them from afar.

Nightclub love can be an… interesting game.

It went from teen discos and 'meet me mate, yeah?' attitudes, to finding romance in the chipper on the way home.

Not your average fairytale, but what else are we supposed to do?

Image result for mcgowans

Well, if your anything like this person, and feel like your crush is slipping away, just pop her a note in the middle of the night to clear things up.

The infamous McGowans took to Facebook this morning to share a note that one of their cleaners found.

They captioned the post: "Cleaners found this earlier. I wonder did he/she go home with them? I'd be tempted for the grub alone."

And what exactly did the note say? You're all going to love it:

"If you come home with me I'll promise you won't regret it. I have Netflix and pizzas in the freezer and my ma will probably make us breakfast in the morning."

Can there be a better chat up line?

Since this morning, the post has received more than 1500 likes on Facebook.

We're not optimistic though, since the note was found in the bar. Did the recipient say no? Did they lose the note? Did their ma make them breakfast this morning?

We're dying to find out what happened.

You'd think we'd reached peak Ed Sheeran at the moment, but the man is coming back bigger and better than ever.

Between his recent singles, Carpool Karaoke, and now this, we couldn't love him anymore.

Ed released a cover of Britney Spears' Baby One More Time for Spotify, and while nobody can beat Brit Brit, Ed is definitely a close second.

The song was released on Spotify as part of a program where an artist releases one new song and a cover as a Spotify exclusive.

We have to admit, we're bopping around to this in the office today.

Breaking up with a significant other is hard. And being friends with that person after a split isn't easy either.

However scientists say that there are seven reasons why we're drawn to staying buddies with our ex's.

According to a study by Justin Mogilski and Lisa Welling at Oakland University published in Personalty and Individual Differences, there are a list of reasons why former partners stay friends.

The study asked 348 volunteers to list why they might do so, and they came up with 153 reasons.

A second group of people were then asked to rate each reason on a scale of of one to five. They were also asked to complete personality questionnaires.

And from that, the researchers were left with seven main reasons:

1. Sentimentality – "They made me a better person" or because you went through a lot together, good or bad.

2. Pragmatism – "They have a lot of money or offer transportation to certain places."

3. Continued romantic attraction – "Still having feelings for one another."

4. Children or shared resources such as a pet, property or a car.

5. Diminished sexual attraction which makes it easier to have a platonic relationship.

6. Social relationship maintenance – "Having friends in common and minimising drama."

7. Sexual access – "To keep having sex with them."

In most cases, friendship wth an ex was described as more tense than other friendships (obvs) and each person had more negative feelings towards their ex than another friend.

So, you can be friends with an ex, but it clearly comes at (some sort of) a price.

Well, we're not sure we feel right about this.

According to The Sun, Facebook is looking into developing new technology which will watch people through their camera, and analyse their facial expressions to see if they're happy, sad, angry, etc.

Image result for facebook

A software company, CBI Insight, first copped onto the development after it discovered FB applied for the patent, which would allow them to capture pictures of us through our phones as we browse the Internet.

Feeling a bit violated? Us too.

Apparently, the designs for the patent dates back to 2015 and it includes illustrations of people on their phone, with the camera taking pictures and detecting "emotion characteristics."

We get why they're doing it.

If we scroll through Facebook and see something of interest, our expression lightens up (or else, y'know… stays the exact same because hello resting bitch face) therefore, FB will know that you liked the content and will know for future what type of content you enjoy.

However, Cosmo ensures that not all patents make it to the end product, and currently there's no confirmation that FB has the go-ahead with this one.

We have to admit that our most recent Eurovision bids have not gone down well.

And it looks like these Dublin lads want to up the game a bit by singing a song that everyone knows and loves.

Indie-pop band, Fallen Lights, headed out to Father Ted's house in Ennis, Co. Clare to sing a brilliant rendition of My Lovely Horse.

And, we have to say, they really pulled it off. So much so, that we reeeally want them to be our next Eurovision entry.

Fallen Lights are currently doing a tour around Ireland. Tonight they are playing in Offaly, with their gigs ending in Dublin at the end of this month.

Katy Perry is going Big Brother style with her promotion for her new album, Witness.

The singer is hosting a live-stream all weekend, but don't think it's going to be a parties and promos.

Katy began her live-stream with a therapy session with Dr Siri Nam Singh.

According to News.com.au, the session was very emotional and Katy opened up about a whole range of issues including depression, drinking and experiencing suicidal thoughts.

A post shared by KATY PERRY (@katyperry) on

“I wrote a song about it,” the singer explained. “I feel ashamed that I would even have those thoughts, feel that low and that depressed.

“That’s the point of this whole thing, if people can see I’m just like them then they can dream just as big.

“I’m a bit more nerdy than everybody thinks I am, I’m a big goofball. The fantasy of Kathryn went into Katy and made this bigger than life personality.”

A post shared by KATY PERRY (@katyperry) on

The singer even opened up about her alter-ego of Katy Perry, and said that sometimes she just wants to be Kathryn Hudson again.

“I so badly want to be Kathryn Hudson that I don’t even want to look like Katy Perry any more, sometimes.”

Right now, Katy is just about to kick off speaking to a scientist, Neil. If you want to tune in, check out here.
