Remember the last time you went for a stroll in Dublin and spotted a five-foot snake lurking in a tree?

Yeah, us neither, but that's exactly what happened to one member of the public who spotted a white corn snake chilling in a tree in Ballybrack in recent days.

Commenting on the incident, Leonie Sunderland, a veterinary nurse at the Bairbre O’Malley Veterinary Hospital in Bray explained that they received a call from a member of the public last Friday.

Recalling the exchange, Leonie said: "I had advised them not to go near it. There was no way of knowing if it is poisonous or harmful. It would also likely have been stressed and could easily strike out."

According to The Irish Times, the snake was transported to the veterinary hospital, with Leonie saying: "We have him in a tank, that is tightly shut to prevent any escape attempts, he’s very friendly."

It has been established that the hospital reached out to the public via Facebook in order to find the snake's owner, and have confirmed that if the owner does not come forward, the snake will be re-homed.

"We have already had a few people calling up with offers of homes for him. These would be people who know what they’re doing and have exotic pets already” Leonie explained.

Leonie is unsure as to whether the snake escaped due to the recent warm weather or if the creature was, in fact, abandoned by its owner.

Pride month is in full swing and with so many events due to take place across the capital this weekend, this year's festivities are not to be missed.

Dublin's Pride festival has been running since Friday June 16 and will come to an end this Saturday when thousands of people take to the city streets for the annual Pride parade.

Here's a run down of what you can expect over the weekend.

Friday June 23

Start as you mean to go on, isn't that how the saying goes?

The night before the main event, George performer, Veda Lady, will host a pride warm up show at Street 66, Parliament Street, Dublin 2.

Joined on stage by Pixie Woo, the pair will be entertaining audiences with a host of 80's classics from 9:00pm.

Admission is free, but make sure you get there early and nap yourself a table before the crowds descend.

Saturday June 24

The theme for this year's parade is 'find your inner hero', so expect to hear a lot of dodgey Mariah Carey covers belted out across the streets of Dublin.

The pre-parade rally kicks off at 12:00pm in St. Stephen's green with drag performances and speeches from David Norris and BelongTo executive director, Moninne Griffith (this year's Grand Marshal).

Taoiseach Leo Varakdar is also planning to march along the parade route with Fine Gael LBGT.

The main event starts at 2:00pm – setting off from St. Stephen's Green and heading toward Smithfield, Dublin 7.

An official after party, hosted by Panti Bliss, will be held in Smithfield square from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

There will be food stalls, a family playground and an official Pride pop-up shop, along with performances from Niamh Kavanagh and Brian Kennedy.

But the party doesn't stop there.

Of course pubs and clubs across the city centre will be packed with parade goers, but bars like Pantibar, The George and Mother are all hosting their very own Pride parties.

Sunday June 25

For those of you brave enough to venture outside on Sunday, Street 66 Parliament Street are hosting some acoustic sessions from 5:00pm.

As well as that, Shirley Temple Bar's Pride Bingo will take its usual slot in The George this Sunday night from 9:00pm.

Following the death of Harry Styles' stepfather, Robin Twist, this week, the singer's former bandmates have reached out to their friend as he comes to terms with Robin's passing.

Taking to social media, Liam, Niall and Louis paid tribute to Robin and offered their condolences to Harry who acted as Robin's Best Man at his wedding to Harry's mother in 2013.

Sharing a beautiful shot of Harry's mother alongside her late husband, Liam wrote: "Harry my heart really goes out to you such an extremely sad day for us all who knew Robin."

"What a kind, gentle and beautiful soul, a true rarity to find in today's world. Sometimes they really do take the best of us far too soon," he concluded.

Niall chose to share the same image while paying tribute to a man who was clearly much loved by all those in the One Direction camp.

"Very sad to hear about the loss of Robin," Niall began in a post which has been liked more than 1,000,000 times since its upload yesterday.

"For those who had the pleasure of knowing Robin will know that he was the nicest , kindest, most generous , hilariously funny guy you'll have met," Niall continued. "He always had a smile on his face even when he was battling the terrible illness."

Turning his attention to his friend, Niall added: "Love ya H. Please give your mum and the rest of the family a massive hug from my family."

Louis, who shared a particularly close friendship with Harry during their days in One Direction, took to Twitter to offer his condolences.

"Devastated to hear the news about Robin. He was the such a lovely kind and funny guy. Sending all my love to the whole family. You'll be missed mate."

Robin died after losing his battle with cancer.

According to emerging reports, police in London are considering manslaughter charges in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

While it has been established that the blaze originated with a faulty fridge-freezer, police have now confirmed that both the insulation and tiles in the tower block failed safety tests.

It has been established that tile and insulation, which were recovered from the building, proved 'more flammable than the cladding' – a discovery which has led police to investigate the legality of these materials.

Speaking to the media, Metropolitan Detective Superintendent Fiona McCormack, who is overseeing the investigation, said: "All I can say at the moment is they (tiles and insulation) don’t pass any safety tests."

"What we are being told at the moment by the Building Research Establishment is that the cladding and insulation failed all safety tests," she reiterated.

Elaborating on the direction with which the police will now take, she added: "We are looking at every criminal offence from manslaughter onwards. We are reviewing every company involved in the building and refurbishment."

The death toll from the fire is believed to stand at 79, but authorities have warned that this figure is likely to increase.

Botox and fillers have been commonplace in Hollwood for years, with many celebrities choosing to undergo procedures in order to keep their youthful looks.

However, you'll be hard pushed to find a celebrity who will admit to having 'work' done, let alone one who will admit that they regret it.

In a recent interview, Courtney Cox revealed that she has had all her cosmetic work undone.

“I’ve had all my fillers dissolved. I’m as natural as I can be,” Cox told New Beauty.

“I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person I was.”

This isn't the first time the former Friends actress has spoken out about her regrets, but the 53-year-old has now said that she has come to terms with the fact that her looks will change over time.

“Everything’s going to drop. Those aren’t wrinkles – they’re smile lines,” she said.

“I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend.”

Courtney also revealed how she fell into a slippery slope of seeing different doctors and having too much work done:

“The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered and layered. You have no idea because it’s gradual until you go, “Oh sh*t, this doesn’t look right.” And it’s worse in pictures than in real life. I have one friend who was like, “Whoa, no more!” I thought, I haven’t done anything in six months,” she told New Beauty.

Since having her fillers removed, Courtney say she feels better than ever, but admits that ageing in Hollywood isn't easy.

"I grew up thinking appearance was the most important thing. That as long as I looked OK, I would be OK, which got me into trouble."

Well, we think she looks incredible, wrinkles and all.

He may have sold out some of the most iconic music venues in the world, but that fact most certainly hasn't gone to Ed Sheeran's head.

With his headline gig at Glastonbury looming, the 26-year-old singer admits that while he's excited by the prospect, he's acutely aware that he's not playing to his standard demographic.

Speaking to the BBC recently, the Thinking Out Loud singer acknowledged that his inclusion in the festival's line-up may come as a surprise to some.

“I’m definitely the one that’s out of place on that list,” he said. “But I think that’s an exciting thing.”

Ever ambitious, Ed insists that the festival essentially acts as a potential platform to win more fans.

"I’m actually more excited for this than I was for my Wembley Stadium shows because when you’re playing your own shows you’re not really winning anyone over because they’ve all parted with cash to buy a ticket, so you’ve already won them over.," he said.

“But I think I’m going to be playing to a lot of people who might have heard some of my songs on the radio, but they’re Glastonbury goers, they’re not fans of me," he explained.

Seeing the opportunity as a vehicle to increase his fanbase, Ed continued: "Knowing that there are people in the audience who possibly don’t even like my music at all and are just there to sort of see, that excites me.”

Foofighters and Radiohead are also headlining alongside our beloved Ed.

Lawyers are to fight for the release of Brendan Dassey, a suspect and prisoner featured in the Netflix documentary, Making a Murderer, after judges backed a ruling that his confession was coerced.

However, it now looks like the 27-year-old could face a retrail after a panel of three judges ruled against the prosecutors' appeal on Thursday night.

Brendan was just 16-years-old and mentally impaired when he confessed to helping his uncle, Steven Avery, kill Teresa Halbach.

As documented in Making a Murderer, Teresa's remains were found at the Avery family scrap yard in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in 2005.

Previously, the 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals said that “no reasonable court” could find his confession was voluntary.

In a joint statement, Brendan's legal team said: “We are overjoyed for Brendan and his family, and we look forward to working to secure his release from prison as soon as possible.”

“As of today’s date, Brendan Dassey has lost 4,132 days of his life to prison.”

The ruling doesn't necessarily mean Brendan Dassey will be freed from prison, as the state can appeal to the US Supreme Court, but it does pose questions to police, prosecutors and the US justice system.

From July 2017, medical card holder will be able to get the morning-after pill for free, directly from a pharmacy.

Currently, medical card holders must make an appointment with their GP in order to access the medication free of charge, however once this move comes into action, no doctors visit or prescription will be required.

Minster for Health, Simon Harris, signed the change into law yesterday after announcing his intention to do so last month.

Pharmacists are welcoming the move as they say they are healthcare professionals with the competence to dispense such medication to their patients.

They also argued that it was not fair to restrict a medicine known to work with greater effect when taken sooner.

Five years ago, restrictions on the availability of the medication were lifted when it was decided that private patients could purchase the product over the counter from pharmacies.

A little tiger cub has been born in Fota Wildlife Park.

The Sumatran Tiger is the most threatened species of tiger in the world, so we're only delighted a new addition was born in Cork.

In the birth announcement, Fota Wildlife Park explained that the cub is one of the rarest subspecies of tiger in the world and classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) since 2008.

The baby tiger has not been named yet, and the park is asking members of the public to submit suggestions.

He was born last month to first-time parents; Dourga and Denar, who are both five-years-old.

The park is asking for the public to suggest a name beginning with the letter ‘D’, which you can suggest on the Fota Wildlife website.

The person who suggests the chosen name will be in with a chance to win a year-long Conservation Membership to Fota Wildlife Park.

Good luck!

It's safe to say that cosmetic surgery has been on the rise in the past number of years.

From boob enhancements, to botox, fillers and nose jobs, it seems like everyone and their mother has got something done these days.

And now, this could be the reason why.

According to Nuffield Council of Bioethics, the reason so many people are going under the knife is because of social media.

The report looked at what influenced young people to consider cosmetic surgery, and the contributing factors included, "increased use of the rating of images of the self and the body [on social media], for example through 'likes'; the popularity of celebrity culture, airbrushed images and makeover shows; [and] the huge growth in the use of social media."

We can all admit that we get a tad jealous when we see a gal with the perfect booty or boobs online, but does it affect us so much that we want to change ourselves?

Apparently, so.

The report further stated that "advertising and marketing widely reinforce the belief that beauty is correlated with happiness and success.

"Women in particular are surrounded by the message that they have a duty to 'make the best' of themselves."

Are you surprised by these findings?
