Last week, salaries of both male and female BBC broadcasters were published, and since then a letter has been signed by more than 40 female broadcasters in an effort to close the gender pay gap.

And now, it looks like the same is happening with our own national broadcasting station.

RTÉ bosses are facing calls from its prominent female staff members to publish current salaries.

Last night, senior female broadcasters, Emma O'Kelly, Martina Fitzgerald and Sharon Ní Bheoláin called for both male and female salaries to be published in an effort to establish the difference of pay and to be more 'transparent'.

Yesterday, The Sunday Independent revealed that Sharon earns €60,000 – €80,000 less than her male co-anchor Bryan Dobson.

The news anchor told the paper: “As someone who values her privacy the very notion of sharing my salary with your newspaper is abhorrent to me.

"I do recognise, however, inequality and gender pay are key social issues in need of examination and so it would be cowardly of me not to comment.

“I can confirm the 2014 pay disparity you reference was accurate. However, this pay gap has since narrowed. In return for a pay rise, I have also undertaken extra duties.

“I believe that I am well remunerated, but, for the record, my pay is still considerably less than that of Bryan’s. I won’t be commenting further.”

RTÉ have yet to comment on the situation it faces.

It's safe to say that Conor McGregor, er… blew us all away when he turned up to his first boxing press conference wearing a rather bespoke suit.

The three-piece suit looked like it was pin stripe, but when you took a closer look, it actually had 'F*ck You' written all over it.

While verbally taking down Floyd Mayweather, Conor announced that the suit was from his very own line, August McGregor, and now ladies and gentleman, it's available to buy.

A post shared by David August (@davidaugustclothing) on

You might have to empty your purses though, because the woollen get-up is selling for $6,500 (€5,580).

Pricey, eh?

As stated on the August Inc website, the suit is made-to-measure, and will take 12-15 weeks to make.

The designer, David August, told GQ, "We're only producing a limited quantity, which will be numbered and signed by myself so it will be an exclusive group who own this style."

We don't think we'll see any of these floating around Dublin anytime soon…

Cinema goers and superhero fans alike were blown away by the release of Wonder Woman earlier this year.

And to top of the great fan reception, it also smashed box office records, with it being the highest-grossing live-action film directed by a woman.

And now, it looks like it's coming back.

Comic Con was the bearer of great news this weekend as Warner Bros announced that Wonder Woman 2 is officially on its schedule.

Patty Jenkins, the director, spoke to Entertainment Tonight and let slip the little plan she has in place.

“The story will take place in the U.S. She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”

She continued: “I realised that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love.”

OK, we're already excited for this.

We've all been there.

Whether it was a Tinder date, a blind date, or with yer man that you met down at the local last Friday – we've all had some pretty awkward dates.

And during those awkward dates, we're sure you've thought of a million excuses of how to leg it, and now the people of Twitter are letting it all out.

Here are some of the best #ExcusesToLeaveMyDate, and they're pretty funny:

While some researchers believe that Instagram is a vortex of low self-esteem, other's are using it for body positivity.

A 21-year-old artist named Cinta Tort Cartró is the latest to make waves on the social media site, as she is turning period problems into works of art.

As well as that, she uses her account, @zinteta, to show case body 'flaws' in a different and beautiful way.

We absolutely adore her vivid and imaginative images, so we picked out a few of our favourites:

If you grew up watching Disney movies, then you're familiar with the Disney villains.

Honestly, they were some of our favourite characters (because… humour, drama), and we were always a little sad to see them go.

Disney villains all have a few things in common (like, why do they all have English accents?), but one thing we never really noticed was how they all die.

You've copped on now, right? They all fall to their deaths.

So much so, a YouTube video has even been made about it.

We actually think it's kinda smart, because, as Cosmo points out, it deters the blames from the heroes of the film.

Belle can't be with the Beast if he's in prison for killing Gaston, right? They all either fall to their death because they were too clumsy or too greedy.

Also, it gets rid of the bloody mess, because no kids (or anyone, for that matter) wants to see that on screen…

What is the Relationship Between Good Sleep and Mental Health?

The World Health Organization revealed some time ago that one in four people will be affected by a mental health issue in their lives. With 450 million people suffering mental health issues, groups and organisations, including the United Nations, have begun to ask governments to do more to support people. Governments have been asked to make mental health treatment more affordable and more available while encouraging people to speak openly about mental health issues.

Governments may still be working towards better mental health programs but, if your mental health is affecting your daily life, there are things you can do to turn it around. One of these is to get better sleep.

What Happens When You Don’t Get Enough Sleep?

Anyone lacking sleep can find they are cranky and irritable, feel tired and struggle to make decisions as quickly or without having to overthink things. However, as Harvard Health Publishing points out, not only can trouble sleeping arise as a cause of mental health issues, but “sleep problems may raise risk for, and even directly contribute to, the development of some psychiatric disorders.” There are some steps people can take to help get their sleep back on track, though.

Create the right conditions

The steps begin with having a comfortable place to sleep as you’re more likely to get better sleep on a quality mattress than on a futon in front of the TV. Memory foam mattresses can also give people that pleasant feeling of sinking into the mattress. Bed-in-a-box company Casper aims to provide the millions of us tired people with a comfortable bed to sleep.

Incorporating their luxury foam into their products, their range of mattresses includes the Hybrid mattress, which provides support and comfort, and The Casper, a pressure-relieving solution. Casper mattresses are designed to bounce back and won’t sag meaning that support you need when you crash onto your bed after another long day at work is long-lasting.

How to Create a Relaxing Sleep Routine

Busy people tend to have less time to relax. Answering emails may feel like a higher priority than getting some shut-eye. However, it can be easier to stick to a sleep schedule if you have a sleep routine – and that routine should include rest and relaxation.

If you want to be gently lulled into sleep, then putting on some soothing music may do the trick, or you may want to read a book. Naomie Harris, the actress who has starred in Pirates of the Caribbean, Moonlight, and the James Bond movies, gets into her jimjams and chills in bed for a “restful and restorative” Sunday. We definitely think she’s onto something here.

There is more to addressing your mental health than just sleeping, with your diet and the amount of exercise you get also having an effect. However, getting more quality sleep is one of the easiest things to look at and is a good place to start.

Thank God for Aragon, the dog!

Aragon and his owner Valia were out for a walk one day, when the dog started pulling on his lead.

Not sure what was going on, Valia decided to follow him to see what he was up to, and that’s when the shocking discovery was made.

There nestled at the foot of the mountain of Immitos was a small black and white box, and Valia got a shock when she looked inside and found 25 abandoned kittens.

“We were walking Aragon near the mountain, actually planning to video on the huge number of animals abandoned there, when Aragon started pulling us towards their direction,” the SCARS volunteer told BoredPanda.

“Aragon is curious about the kittens and since the first moment he saw them, he had a constant need to keep them all together and to clean them.”

Sharing her story on YouTube, Valia explained that abandoned kittens are a common thing in Greece and SCARS is working hard to find them all a home.

“Almost every day [Valia] finds empty cardboard boxes on the mountain (sometimes with the blankets and the toys still inside), but no animals” the video explains.

“Within a few hours since they are abandoned, kittens, puppies, bunnies and even birds (no joke!) become the dinner of a hungry fox (the most common predator on the mountains near Athens).

"This time, the kittens were lucky.”

And it seems like Aragon has taken to his new role as foster dad like a duck to water.

“Basically, he was the rescuer, and he has been an excellent foster dad since day one. The kittens are ready for their forever homes.”

If this doesn't shake up the BBC, we don't know what will.

More than 40 female presenters, broadcasters and journalists from the BBC have all teamed up together to demand equal pay.

The professionals sent a letter regarding the gender pay gap to BBC Director-General Tony Hall, asking him to work on closing the gap immediately.

It comes after it was revealed that Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans earned more than £2 million (€2.23m) last year, while the highest paid woman was Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman who earned between £450,000-£499,999 (€500,000-€556,000).

The letter, which was created by Women's Hour host Jane Garvey, asks if Mr Hall could "sort" the gender pay gap immediately.

Jane tweeted out the letter herself, with the caption "Revolting."

The letter is as follows:

"The pay details released in the Annual report showed what many of us have suspected for many years … that women at the BBC are being paid less than men for the same work.

"Compared to many women and men, we are very well compensated and fortunate. However, this is an age of equality and the BBC is an organisation that prides itself on its values.

"You have said that you will ‘sort’ the gender pay gap by 2020, but the BBC has known about the pay disparity for years. We all want to go on the record to call upon you to act now.

"Beyond the list, there are so many other areas including production, engineering and support services and global, regional and local media where a pay gap has languished for too long.

"This is an opportunity for those of us with strong and loud voices to use them on behalf of all, and for an organisation that had to be pushed into transparency to do the right thing.

"We would be willing to meet you to discuss ways in which you can correct this disparity so that future generations of women do not face this kind of discrimination."

Listen, having a baby is no easy task, with so many changes happening to your body.

The same can be said for your body after you give birth – things that were once toned may now be softer, and that's okay!

Hollyoaks star Jen Metcalfe recently shared an honest snap on Instagram, showing the world her post baby body – and we're totally in awe of her.

Jen captioned the candid post: "Four weeks after my boy vacated his apartment this is what I'm left with and it really isn't that bad (sic).

2017 has been some year for TV shows.

With the likes of Big Little Lies, The Handmaid's Tale, The OA, and 13 Reasons Why, they hit just about every genre that we could imagine… and they didn't disappoint either.

Stranger Things was on that list too, and now it's the first one to get a trailer for its second series.

And God is it good.

The second season is set in 1984 and follows the story of Will Byers who has been rescued from the Upside Down.

However, everything is not as it seems, and very scary things are still lying underneath, threatening to break through.

All of the cast is back again too, with Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modintells making a comeback.

The series will have nine episodes, and will debut on October 27.

We. Can't. Wait.
