Influencers are part and parcel of our online lives, and while they entertain us with their Instagram antics, they are also masking a booming business of brand endorsements.

This year, 33 complaints were made to the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland, as reported by The Journal this morning.

Ireland’s advertising watchdog received triple the amount of complaints on last year, regarding influencers promoting brands and products without the now legally enforced transparency.

Influencers are required to be transparent in their paid for content according to the Irish Statute book.

Using the hashtags 'ad' 'spon' or 'SP' are usually considered an acceptable declaration of branded content, as seen above. In the case of Snapchat, all of the snaps uploaded must carry the sponsorship hashtag, not just the first.

Orla Twomey, chief executive of the ASAI told TheJournal that 33 complaints are being investigated.

A post shared by Jessica Warren (@jessicawarren) on

'It is likely in this area that we will have more adjudications,” she told The Journal.

The ajudications from the current investigations are due out in August.

'I genuinely believe people don’t set out to deceive or not disclose, but it’s a new area and people are learning and improving practice as they go along,' she said

'It’s very good to see that there had been such engagement among bloggers and blogging communities in this area.'

As children, we absolutely devoured the Babysitter Club series.

We wanted to look like Stacey, have Claudia’s flair for art and go on dates with Mary-Anne’s boyfriend, Logan.

And with dozens upon dozens in the collection, we spent years poring over the gals’ adventures in Stoneybrook, but with the passing of time and the removal of our rose-tinted glasses, we have a few questions about the whole damn shebang.

And they go as follows…

1. Why was no one ever babysitting between 5.30 and 6 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays when the meetings were held?

How convenient.

2. Why were 11-year-olds left in charge of babies?

Mallory and Jessi, we’re looking at you.

3. And why were 13-year-olds left in charge of babies?

Stoneybrook Parents Association should take a good hard look at itself.

4. Why was Claudia given a private phone line when she couldn’t even keep her grades up?

System’s flawed.

5.  Why did they spend so much money on KidKits?

No one was making any profit with the amount of ‘dues’ owed at the Monday meeting.

6.  Why did Ann M. Martin have to reintroduce the characters at the start of every single book?

If you didn't know who they were, it was up to you to go back to 'Kristy's Great Idea' and find out.

7. Why was Kristy a bit of a bully?

Think about it; that girl ruled with an iron hand.

8. Why are a bunch of fictional girls from a fictional town still occupying space in our heads?

We're not quite sure, but the obsession remains…

Favoured by many Victoria's Secret Angels, there is no doubt that Reformer Pilates yield serious results.

And so with images of Gigi Hadid, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alessandra Ambrosio flashing through your mind, you sign yourself up for ten sessions.

From lengthening your body, toning your core and improving your posture, Reformer Pilates will be your ticket to the body you've always wanted.

And then you start, and learn a few things about yourself.

1. Your coordination is not as good as you thought it was.

While you thought you nailed your left from your right decades ago, there's something about trying to balance on a reformer machine that throws the whole system into disarray.

"Hold on; my left hand? Wait, wait, what wrist do I wear my watch on?"

2. Exhaling and inhaling can be confusing.

No matter how many times you're told to inhale and exhale throughout your session, you still find yourself holding your breath for prolonged periods, and only realising after the trainer spots it.

"Sh*t. I did it again."

3. Rolling your spine is not something that comes easy.

While you're trying your hardest to complete the apparently fluid motion, you can't help but notice your spine touching the machine is more of a 'dunk, dunk, dunk' motion.

"We don't roll. We dunk, dunk, dunk."

4. The sound of the carriage crashing 'home' is shameful.

While everyone else is able to keep their carriage steady and glide it 'home' with ease, you're accidentally smashing yours into the end of the machine and ruining the peaceful atmosphere.

"Sorry, lads. Me again."

5. The use of the straps is vaguely disconcerting.

Seeing your feet in stirrups conjures flashbacks of a recent smear, which is not what you need when you have core-work to do.

"And I can't even go for my post-smear muffin after this."

6. The image of yourself falling off the side of the machine never leaves you.

Squatting is hard at the best of times but when you're on a surface which can move at a moment's notice, you do wonder whether a toned body is worth it.

"Surely, someone has snotted themselves doing this, and what's the bets I'm next?"

7. You drink in your trainer's incredible physique and calm demeanour.

While you're desperately trying to differentiate between your left and right, your trainer is gliding around the room with a figure and posture that would bring tears of envy to your eyes.

"One day I will be like her. One day I will be like her. One day I will be like her."

8. You enjoy the sound of your voice telling people you do Reformer Pilates.

You may struggle to get through a sequence without getting confused, but hey, no one except your trainer and classmates need to know that.

"That's right. I reform."

9. You leave every class feeling like a total superstar

Yes, you may have some improving to do, but when it comes to it, you're owning those straps, that carriage and those abs like a total pro.

"God, I'm good."

It's summer and it's hot, and while for most people that combination involves a pair of shorts and laissez-faire attitude, for some women it can be a little more tricky.

Navigating the connotations of a summer wardrobe as a plus size woman can be hard.

Despite the forward motion of the body positivity movement in recent years, which has given many women the confidence to wear whatever they want regardless of size, some curvy women still harbour a fear of being shamed for their bodies.

A post shared by Loey Lane (@loeybug) on

Whether it's hot pants, a summer dress or a bikini, not all plus size women feel they can wear these summer items because of the fear that someone will slam them for exposing their bodies which don't necessarily fit the standardised Eurocentric beauty guidelines established by our perfection-seeking society.

Stunning plus size YouTuber Loey Lane has taken to the video site to share her exact feelings about the 'fat girl dress code.'

The video maker, who is best known for her hilarious story time videos, creepy story readings and plus size fashion and beauty hauls, uploaded avideo slamming those who judge others.

A post shared by Loey Lane (@loeybug) on

Using a huge helping of sarcasm, Loey dished the dirt on the concept of women feeling like they can't wear what they want due to the judgement of others.

'I can say personally, as someone who has been overweight several summers in a row, that I have been informed many times about what I am and am not allowed to wear,' she says.

'And if you’re starting out this video thinking, 'Can I just wear whatever I want?' No. No — why would you do that?'

'Why would anyone wear what makes them feel confident and happy, and not think about how others feel about the garments that they're putting on their own bodies?'

A post shared by Loey Lane (@loeybug) on

The video is seriously body positive, and we recommend giving it a watch, plus size or not, for a reminder to never let anyone, including society, dictate how you view your own body.

A number of weeks ago, the news broke that The Irish Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform intended to demonstrate at Irish airports to discourage women from leaving the country to seek abortions.

While both Cork and Dublin airport stated that they would not be allowing the protests, the manifesto of the 'NGO' continues to state that two weeks of demonstrations are getting underway.

The group released a statement today saying that Dublin, Belfast and Manchester will be the locations of their first protests tomorrow, after recent governmental decisions surrounding the financial implications of procuring abortions.

'In light of the recent decision made by the British government to pay for abortions for Northern Irish women travelling to England, three major pro-life groups are coordinating a massive, visual response,' reads the statement.

'Precious Life of Northern Ireland, ICBR of Ireland and Abort67 of England will be holding simultaneous public education displays in Belfast, Dublin and Manchester on Saturday 29 July 2017.'

'They will be displaying large graphic images of aborted babies, to show the humanity of the unborn child and expose the horrific reality of abortion which the abortion industry strives to keep hidden from Irish women travelling to England for the procedure.'

The protests will take place at Belfast Airport, Airport Spur, Manchester and on Dame Street, Dublin.

'This is about the abortion industry expanding business and increasing profits off the blood of Irish babies,' said Ruth Rawlins, spokesperson for Abort67.

'We want to send a loud and clear message to the public that we stand with both Northern Ireland and Ireland and their right to protect unborn Irish citizens from abortion.”

The group previously received backlash from the public for their intended demonstrations.

The group emphasised the use of graphic, questionable imagery in their pursuit of 'education,' with the former demonstrations being titled 'Ireland Airport Education Project.'

ICBR have been contacted for comment.

It has been established that Thomas was under the influence of GBL when the assaults took place.

It is understood that Thomas assaulted a woman at a house party on Lower Gardiner Street. Later that same night, he grabbed a woman's breasts on the same street before accosting another young woman on Thomas Street.

He was arrested by Gardaí following the third incident.

While Thomas has pleaded guilty, he claims he cannot remember the events of the night.

The defendant's barrister, Cathal McGreal BL, says Thomas has extended his apologies to the victims of his crimes.

If you were hoping to get your hands on tickets to LCD Soundsystem in Dublin, you were probably left pretty disappointed this morning.

According to social media users (and first-hand experience) tickets for the gig were unavailable less than one minute after their 9am release date this morning.

Tickets for three separate dates in the Olympia Theatre went on sale, and all three appeared to be sold out before 9.01am.

LCDS fans have taken to Twitter in their droves to complain about the lack of tickets.

Some have questioned whether anyone in Ireland did in fact get a ticket for the gig at all.

The hashtag is now trending on Twitter in Ireland.

Ticketmaster has so far remained silent on the issue.

We live in a time of epic musical duets, from The Weeknd and Daft Punk to Taylor and Ed.

Now, a pair of musicians have teamed up to create a more than epic collaboration.

Sir Mick Jagger has released a collab with grime artist Skepta.

The former Rolling Stones lead singer teamed up with Skepta to create two amazing new tracks.

Sir Jagger took to social media to share clips of the two tunes, and we're loving them.

The tracks, called England Lost and Gotta Get A Grip, perfectly marry the stylings of both musicians.

A post shared by SKEPTA FAN PAGE (@skeptagram) on

'When I started writing England Lost I imagined a British rapper on the track @Skepta stepped in at a moments notice,' he captioned the post.

Skepta previously hinted that the pair were working together, after her Instagrammed a snap of them working away.

We'll be playing both of these on repeat all summer…
